Lets have a thread on big weapons. Any systems where this is possible? Do you prefer a "realistic" approach or do you prefer anime shenanigans? Are PCs even allowed to use large weapons on foot, for that matter?
>>97096682Fixed.
Why would anyone use ludicrously sized swords if not going for an anime/jrpg feel? I mean, I can't think of any in western fantasy. The most is perhaps Warcraft's war hammers, but I bet it's more of a case of not doing math than wanting REALLY big weapons.

>>97096734I just don't think it's as fun with the current rhythm of the game and trying to beef them up further would likely erode that more (I'd probably play it nonetheless). Working on a base for a possessed saturnine I'm converting for my AL.I think I'm gonna paint over the sigil on the far rock, it's a bit distracting. Also have a ton of details to pick out and clean up but I'm pretty happy with the glow effect on the central runes.Post some models anons! Also what would you guys think a demonic saturnine dread's melee would look like stat wise? I'm assuming it would be super slow and inflict a stupid amount of damage but I'm unsure what would be "fair" - this is just gonna be for display.
>>97097570Them putting AL in C is all you need to know lmao. RAW AL can shoot out of medium cover with impunity by being right outside of 1" of the edge of terrain. Can't draw line of sight to them because they count as being 2" further in cover, meaning they're actually over 3" from the edge of terrain and you can't draw LoS. Above may be a lack of comprehension on my part but even if that's not true they'd still be at least upper B.
>>97097595Finished the mk2b for my word bearers >>97097595>Also what would you guys think a demonic saturnine dread's melee would look like stat wise?Honest, probably whatever a telemon has with a psychic trait added and maybe phase (s) (probably a bad idea consider saturnine are already so absurdly tough). Judging from other word bearers units, most of the mechanical benefit of daemonhood lies in being malefic and increased resilience, Gal Vorbak being 3 wounds and phraetus having EW.

I have encountered GMs who relied on copying and pasting AI-generated text before: https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/96077242/#96077242I have been seeing this more and more. For example, I joined this one Daggerheart game. The GM has been flip-flopping between simplistic sentences and LLM-generated text.Examples:>This game takes place in the world of Dispatch—a living, breathing city where danger erupts without warning and heroes are the thin line holding everything together. I’ll be your DM, but in this world, you’ll know me as your Dispatcher. I’m the voice in your ear, the one who tracks the chaos, the one who sends you and other heroes into the field when Manhattan needs you most.>Your missions will range from capturing dangerous villains to rescuing civilians, stopping escalating threats, uncovering hidden plots, or confronting unknown anomalies. Dispatch calls don’t wait. They hit fast, loud, and unpredictable. When that call goes out, you suit up, step forward, and answer it.>Using Daggerheart’s Duality system—Hope and Fear—we’re shaping a flexible, evolving ruleset that grows with both the world and your characters. Every mission will test your skills. Every choice will shape the city around you. And as the story unfolds, we’ll refine and expand the system together, adapting it to the heroes you become.>This is a world where your decisions matter, where Hope fuels your rise, where Fear pushes back, and where every Dispatch shapes the next chapter. You’re not just playing a character. You’re becoming a symbol. And this:>► Duality Blessings (Doubles)Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

>>97097344Yeah that's AI generated. ChatGPT to be specific.

As a relatively new Lancer GM, the level up system is interesting but pretty obviously limited. You can always give players extra long missions to challenge them and limit their progression, but after a while, it gets a bit formulaic where they just get a level after every set of missions.I saw in one of the splatbooks that there's a system to use money instead to buy licenses/gear and skill points, that seems interesting but I imagine a lot of people would just power through to an optimal build first and mostly ignore character growth itself. Are there any mech RPGs out there that make you spend money on ammo like the AC games? Something like that would make for a dynamic where you could keep some cheaper and lower tech options around for dealing with problems more efficiently to make more money for upgrades. It would probably make book keeping a pain in the ass though.
>>97092391Wish there were more STL's of stuff like this.
He’s back
are there any mecha RPGs that still give mechanical depth to the mecha themselves (part assembly is my main thing) while having a focus on the out-of-mech parts as well? i've been looking recently but all i've been able to find is mech autism simulators with implied diplomacy RP or diplomacy simulators with PBTA mechs

Trying to think is there any way to realistically deal with enchantments in current red blue? Current deck kind of gets hosed by RIP and high noon.
>>97096950gee which of the 20 "bounce target nonland permanent" spells in blue do you want to usemaybe {U} instant with no extra mana cost?
>>97096973Ofc bounce get rid of the problem temporarily, I'm running some already. The issue largely comes down to it being control matchups that run these cards and I'm not about to beat them in a counter war. Bouncing high noonisn't so bad as I just make sure to whittle them until I can kill them in a turn. but RIP I don't quite fill the graveyard fast enough to make it worthwhile if I can't guarentee a counter which I often can't which is why I'm asking.
>>97096368lmao good game10/10, had funt. OP, your beloved
Personally I get really into character creation, where I plan how I want to build the character mechanically and how it all ties to my character's backstory. I haven't had a character die yet, but I'd probably be upset, even if I had a backup ready. How do you feel when your character dies? I feel like its good when a player is at least slightly upset about character death, but I understand if someone just only cares about the game mechanically and just rolls up a new character.
>>97086553It's often best to have two teams of player characters,One group as administrators and company owners,The others as the expendable frontline operatorsThis format allows for players to have long term investments in some of their characters, and the freedom to run their other characters like a stolen car (imo the best way to roleplay). In my experience folks who get too attached to their characters start being too protective with them, and too reserved in their actions and RP.It's good for a game to keep the risks and stakes high, players who engender passivity and avoid risk do not contribute well to this dynamic.I believe this is a contributing factor to the frequent slow and disappointing deaths of long-running games.I have found the home/away team dynamic works fairly well at both preserving the high risk excitement of new games, while also keeping the long term RP relationships and company goals of older gamesIf that dynamic is unavailable, I would always recommend playing characters you're not attached to, over players that you are. They're a stolen car, run them too fast, too hard, seek enjoyment out of breaking them to pieces. Make them live fast, burn bright, and go out in a dramatic bang
>>97086553A good fight, a good wound, a pile up of good life changing injuries, and a good death can all be part of a good story for a character. So as long as it's fun and the story is interesting I'm not bothered by it.
Everyone goes through grief on their first pc death. It gets easier after that
>>97086553I can't enjoy a game if I'm not really attached at my character.
>>97086553I make my characters with the expectation that I'll retire them or let them die but yeah, it's only natural to get attached a little bit especially if you had a story arc and changes cooked up in your mind

>>97092250How long have you guys been rocking those minis? That's really cool. Between the table and the glimpse of drinks (booze?) in the background, making me nostalgic for when I played in person all the time a decade ago.
>>97092893>>97096795From when I started playing D&D just 5 years ago. Those black bases are just some rubber pucks I found on a shipyard and I have no idea what they are used for. There was a whole pile of them and I knew they were trash so I scooped them up. I was thinking of using them to pad my bent chairs and/or table legs but realized they wouldn't do as well as I thought so I just stashed them for speakers/monitors/PC if their rubber padding worn out/broke away for some reason. Turns out they're perfect for TTRPG. I made a shallow cut down the middle so they pincer and hold any small drawing of a character. So if we ever switch campaigns I can simply switch the drawings over so I really need only 5 pucks max. They are stick very well to the surface and have some weight so they're not easily blown away from the table as paper-only minis would be. Also every character has a front and back drawing so they can depict flanking and orientation. You can also have a much better sense of scale since there is an actual visual difference between a 2+meteres tall PC and something small like a halfling.

>>97089078I always get the feeling LSS regrets the equipment system entirely. we're this many sets in and they've made basically zero effort to maximize it.for comparison WoWTCG, the game that's class system most closely resembles FAB's, had multiple viable options in nearly every slot for every class by like year 2. and that with both more equipment slots per character and it launched with way more classes.
>>97097255It was the one thing they used to sell the dream in the beginning. Start full, always have your best equipment on hand the moment the action starts. That and every card is at minimum a resource, attack/action and a defense.
>Go X-1>Bubble out of top 8 and get the same prizes as the guy who came 32ndVery cool!
If you were taking bets, when do we officially hit peak oversaturation in the TCG market? When does the bubble finally pop again?
>>97097596>peak oversaturationI feel like 2025 is it, man. I don't know where we go from here, but the forecast and reading the tea leaves right now says all classes of collectibles are declining. The pop comes when the illusion is shattered that all this cardboard isn't actually worth what collectors are saying it is. However, as time goes on, things get rarer and rarer, and by sheer fact of not that many sealed boxes of Ex Yi Zed existing on this planet, it makes some of these card games valuable as a piece of card history. Not everything gets to be equally cherished and respected though, so you'll have your flat 'who cares?' belly flop titles and then you goated innovators that left their indelible mark on the hobby.
