New manga about late 90s MTG. One shot out right now, but it's been picked up for a full series

if only it felt that good to play magic in real life
>>
This was cute. And it's from the era when I still played magic so the game parts made sense to me. I'll have to keep an eye for when more chapters come out.
>>
>>62922899
90's MTG. You mean back when it use to be fun.

Waaaay too formulaic, riding on mtg won't save it. The humor and cutesy were just below par.
>>
Very cute, thanks for the dump
>>
Better than the current magic storyline.
>>
Another MTG manga? What happened to the last one?
>>
>>62924983

Which one do you mean? There's been oneshots before, and there was the Chandra one, but there hasn't been anything official and ongoing about the actual game.
>>
I like it. The people working on it are clearly passionate about mtg, and the translation is superb (e.g. the way the shivan dragon was called a fatty). I have high hopes for this.
>>
>>62925104
That was a scaled Wurm you fucking faggit
>>
>>62925013
This one. Granted, I don't know how many manga there are about this, but I feel like I read somewhere that this one was licensed by WotC. I remember it came on the heels of some core set and that the chick in this uses Stormtide Leviathan at some point in the chapter.
>>
I have a lot of hope for this because it's by the Onani Master Kurosawa author.
>>
>>62925127
its a one shot.
>>
Because of the Necropotence shown page 7 and the mc running a mono-black deck I assumed he was running a necro-deck, so his later amazement at seeing Ice-Age was confusing.
The scaled wurm fatty slam made me laugh because I think all us grade schoolers in the 90s wanted the big nasty monsters.
>>
>>62926312
Looked it up, Necro had a reprint in 5th. Objection withdrawn.
>>
Dam the internet total killed magic for me, we would all be better without net decking, the world felt so much more unique.
>>
What kind of fucking shitty decks are they playing, my god
>>
>>62924397
>our saga began
Stupid. This was a fun cute one-shot. I refuse to believe that there's more to it. It should end here.
>>
>>62922899
Oh boy, I can't wait for this to get an anime adaptation so /tg/ can pretend it hated this all along.

>>

Fuck, what a cunt move but I can't help but love smug anime girls. I may crop this later.
>>
>>62923274
The cringe is real. Mostly because I could see teenage me actually doing this shit.
>>

a fucking scaled wyrm
just the sort of creature I would put in my deck

Why is there suddenly such interest in magic cards? Is it because of the speculators?

>>

ravnica 3.0 is okay
dominaria was great
arena is a'ight and also free
the hopes of WotC unfucking everythig have returned
the newest masters set is ass though, esp. the price
>>
>>62928769
Good riddance then. Never understood why people play it CCGs anyway.

Urrrrgggh, so they didn't use sleeves back then.

Is Arena even out in Japan? Is it popular?

I thought Japs couldn't into computer games

If only I could find a way to curse this manga so that everyone who reads it and likes it could die...4 Chan and the Earth as a whole would improve

Yeah, that's why I'm interested. That was a parody comic that veered into some really great schooldays drama/growing up shit and I'm excited to see if they can bring an equal level of depth and character to an MtG manga.

Now take each one of those opinions and dial it back a couple levels to better reflect how non-shills see the game, and you’ll be more accurate. MTG is a dying train wreck that nobody except the investors’ mothers could be fooled into believing is doing well.
>>
>>62926463
The kind people played before the Rise of the Internet made sure everyone knew the best of everything always.
A more logical evolution of your standard newbie's first deck than what you see nowadays.

>>62926463
The concept of a mana curve wasn't even established until a few years into the game. This was Tempest era and previous expansions weren't available in Japan. You try making a busted deck using only Tempest, Weatherlight, Visions, and 5th Edition.
