I simply don't believe that neither of them are capable of finding some kind of something that would let his sperm inseminate her eggs. Multiple planes have hybridization magic and/or technology, there's a huge roster of wish granting entities, and tons of disparate species have had children before. It's unbelievable that they can't have baby making sex no matter what.
>>
>>92365072
I'm sure they could eventually. But as-is they're both thought dead, and the plane that could probably help them out the most likely despises Vraska. It's basically a matter of "they can't really trust anybody to help with that". It's also just mostly to set-up Loot being part of their new family.
>>
The funniest part of the epilogue to me though is that Jace didn't use any psychic powers to knock Proft out in MKM's story. He just fucking clonked the guy.

>>
>>92365284
Knowing Wizards, they'd have her absolutely peg Jace with his own illusion cock if they could write it.
>>
>>92365361
Wtf does that have to do with biologically conceiving a child? Even with magic I wouldn't think you could magically combine two different species gametes and get a viable offspring. Like, you probably could magically phase a duck's body into a dog's body, but even if they survived it would probably complicate their biological function tremendously. If you force molecules together unnaturally, does that do something?
>>
>>92365413
>Sweat dripping down her flush forehead and tentacles, finally splashing upon her ample sage-hued bosom, Vraska couldn't help but curl her lips into a triumphant smile as she mercilessly pounded Jace's fissuring asshole with his own blue brain cock projected around the Gorgon's shapely hips. Jace could barely muster the restraint to suppress his cries, grunting and whimpering as each full length thrust stubbed his prostate."

Kellan exists and is a half-breed with parents from two different species and two different planes of origin. It's clearly possible, so the Simic can probably make it happen. It's just that the Simic wouldn't help either Jace or Vraska at the moment
>>
>>92365501
Depending on a lot of different things, interspecies breeding is known to be possible. It's just rare, the chromosomes have to be pretty close for it to work, so it's just either possible or it isn't and not a blanket thing. Maybe faeries and humans are more closely related than humans and fucking greek monsters. That seems logical, actually.

>>
>>92365636
The last two articles have been good but that's because they brought back Allison Lhurs to write them.
Otherwise its all been rushed shit because wizards can't worldbuild anymore and can't stick around on a plane long enough to tell a good story.
The last two got around this because the author was using a plotline that had years of groundwork going into it to build on.
>>
>>92365636
Character writing is generally pretty strong. Alison Luhrs continues to just write Jace and Vraska adorably well. The main OTJ story was... Fine. Kellan was probably the most interesting he ever was there but he wasn't super deep. Which is fine, characters can be simple, but it's so strange to contrast the main story to the epilogue where we see Jace's thought processes as he both realises that he can never bear to be parted from those he loves ever again but also that he can never truly bring himself to rest, he must ALWAYS try to improve the multiverse, and he's starting to realise that's a losing game, so he and Vraska have a plan that basically seems to culminate in "rebirth the multiverse" somehow.
And it's a sweet, heartfelt, ominous story for Jace and Vraska, and for Kellan it's just kind of "damn my dad sucks, I'm gonna go kiss my vampire girlfriend". Like good for him, but man it's weird they're in the same set's story. I suppose there's a parallel of Kellan learning his father is awful and Jace becoming a pseudo-father to Loot but that's a pretty minor part of the epilogue all things considered.
>>
>>92365659
>And it's a sweet, heartfelt, ominous story

>>
>>92365636
Something I learned from spending too many years playing WoW: no matter how shitty the writing is, there will often be little nuggets of interesting ideas in there somewhere. It can be worth reading bad stories just to find the things that inspire you to use them properly in your own work.

A-anon...?

>>92365675
Generally as of right now, Magic's main stories are "well-written but rushed". Side stories are where the real gems are. Tangles back on Innistrad was great, most of the ONE and MOM stories are great reads, I liked the OTJ side-stories mostly (the Nashi one was just kind of okay, the Annie one was a better Annie than the rest of the story showed). MKM I think was largely pretty good as main stories go because Seanan McGuire seems to be one of their more consistently better writers at dealing with the constraints of Magic storytelling. She also just kind of 'gets' some characters (Proft is great for example, and she does Gisa and Geralf wonderfully).
>>
>>92365654
I think it's great but I can only really see it in rakdos sac, there aren't really any other playable archtypes that want to sac an artifact every turn for value.

I bet the WotC worldbuilders didn't even for one second think of the engineering implications of airborne continuous welded rail.
Why even have rails if your train isn't running on them anyway? The Big Wheel from Amazing Spider-Man Issue no. 182 didn't need rails.
Speaking of which, you only need one engine car Wizards. You don't need a primary engine wheel on every train, you only need one locomotive that's the entire point of a damn train you literal morons.

I think part of where the hypocrisy comes from, and a bit of a problem with these "theme park" sets in general, is that the top priority for these sets is to sell whatever theme they're going for; in other words, "the wild west set" has to be very recognizably "the wild west", which because of what they are and when they were made were very milquetoast, safe, and somewhat racist. So how much of those notions can they remove or change before it gets in the way of what consumers expect from the set? In addition, this would be extra work for a setting that is fairly barren, by its own admission (i.e. pretty much nothing lived their until the omenpaths popped up) and likely won't be revisited for years, if ever.

That train has one of the worst designs I've ever seen.
>Sawblade propulsion
>Pushes against raw dirt
>Magic engine smoke

>Sides stick way out
>Extremely narrow balance
>Rails are one single piece
>Sawblade tops create drag
>No support for the rails
>No debris catcher
>No foreward viewport
>No way to steer
>No doors
You can handwave any or all of these away by saying "It's a magical train", but only a retard would expend the astronomical amount of resources required to compensate for this shitty design when he doesn't have to. Also, where is this train going? I thought Omenport was the only major city.

>>92366423
That's true, but I don't think Jace and Vraska's arc is going to be resolved anytime soon either. Like, the next time I think we'll hear anything about that would be in the death race set, and that's already a year from now.
>>
>>92366454
That's fair. The finale set after the return to Arcavios is probably where it'll all culminate. Kellan might show back up there I suppose. I don't hate him showing up again eventually, I just don't think we'll see him for a while yet.
I'm also hopeful the Dragonstorm arc (Bloomburrow to Return to Tarkir) WON'T have a repeated throughline character like Kellan, to be honest. We've established that can happen with Omenpaths, but just mix it up a bit. Keep a throughline of some sort, maybe in side-stories, but we don't need, say, Mabel being in the Death Race, though that WOULD be cute.
>>
>>92366430
There is a limited ability to steer, but it's mostly done with wheel slopes. You can't do that with one fixed wheel. If there are sloped wheels on the two rails, it's even worse because they'll lift off at the slightest difference in the ground height because of the sawblade.

As the resident train autist this shit makes me think up a lot of things
>If the train and rails are elevated in the first place why would you need to bother having a cow catcher on the front of the locomotive in the first place?
>What do the engines run on? I'm assuming Halo or some other shit since its blue.
>If you have a huge fucking saw wheel sticking out of every car, what do the interiors of the passenger cars look like? Are they split down the middle with a passageway connecting both sides at the ends? The tank cars in Spirebluff Canal are clearly doubled up on both sides of the blade so it's most likely that way for the passenger cars too.
>Why does the roof of each car curve down so drastically? This is barely aerodynamic at all
>On the topic of cars, what the fuck do you do with freight cars? What's the point of a flat car or a boxcar that can't be at maximum capacity due to there being a fucking giant sawblade in the middle of the train?.
>What the fuck do points/switches look like on this track system? The only thing I can think of that'd work is a monorail style switch where the track itself curves to whichever track it wants to go to, which is indefinitely more busy than just a plain old two-rail switch.
>>92366430
I think he meant to say something like "How does the train turn?" which makes sense since a single-wheeled train car isn't going to have Bogies, but then again with only a single wheel each car is basically its own Bogie. The real problem is with how close each wheel is to one another the curves the train can take can't be too sharp or else that shit's jumping the track.

Ah, that explains that. I'd been wondering.
>>

Yeah, might be "uh, Tarkir dragons seem to be be fucking things up across the multiverse, that's probably a problem?" I dunno if that Kolaghan-esque thing will be, like, the main instigator of the plot of Bloomburrow or just an oddity that's battled on the way, but still.

not sure why tarkir dragons are specifically a problem, the ur-dragon is literally an avatar beyond planes of which all other dragons are spawns/imitations of. and dragons seem to be on every plane (except tarkir before ugin was brought back, but that's literally what set the plane apart)

I am pleased to announce that Dead Owl Society performance is not only better than expected, but good enough that I think Owling Mine could be an actual top performer in Pioneer with just a few more pieces to play with.
After much tests, I've begun to lean away from Sudden Impact effects and more toward interactive slow-burn like Chandra and Ob-Nix, meaning we have fewer (Basically zero) dead cards in tense matchups.
It hurts somewhat to lose the sudden 11-damage cracks, but our bounce locks are secure enough that once an opponent is in one, its almost impossible for them to get out before they burn to cinders.

Chandra main deck also all but guarantees wins against AZC, given that its effectively impossible for them to stop in any way except a rare 1-of sideboard Summary Dismissal.

We FUCKING. SHITSTOMP. Niv to Light. The only way I have lost to Niv so far is one clown show of a game where they slammed down a Kambal and I drew exactly zero interactive pieces for it (No Ertais, no Balefuls, was sad.)
Other than that, Niv is just a DEAD deck into us. It basically can't do anything, its hilarious.
>>
>>92366664
Tarkir specifically has the dragonstorms, so maybe something is causing those to go out of control and some dragonstorms are even forming on other planes? We'll see when we see.
>>
>>92366664
If I remember right, there was something about how Ugin being alive is what lead to the dragonstorm on Tarkir being more powerful, since all the dragons there are spawned out of the dragonstorm instead of being born from eggs or anything.

It might be something weird like the dragonstorm aims to make sure there are X dragons on Tarkir at any given time, and with omenpaths opening and dragons leaving to scout it out, they've basically got endless growth to conquer the multiverse with an army of dragons as soon as they realize it.
That's a fairly contrived explanation though, so odds are WotC's reasoning will somehow manage to be even more contrived somehow. Hopefully the answer isn't just 'the Elder dragons on Tarkir felt like invading today'.

Tarkir dragons are born fully-formed from storms that went haywire while Ugin was sealed away in the hedron vault. With him now sealed away in the Meditation Realm, it isn't hard to imagine that they could start going haywire again, especially with gates opening to other worlds.

>Playing AGAINST U/W Control

>>92366757
At this point it's the only thing that unites people about the game. Basically every format but Commander died under shit balance and Commander itself is only held up by the fact people don't want to play meta in it so the dogshit balance is slightly obfuscated (although that's also going out the window with how many enormous value commanders are being printed now).
>>
>>92366897
The game design trend they set with FIRE never went away and it's dealt irreparable damage to it across every format. Basically feels like whoever gains momentum first is going to win because the quality of cards is so high and then their value just stacks because of all the retarded piss easy synergies. No thinking, just play the best thing you can play every turn. There are so many cards that are just AIDS. Every deck is boring to play and play against. I am so sick of shit like people dropping Sorin and then playing a 6/7 mana card on turn 3 for free. Or CoCo to get 6 mana of dudes for 4 mana at instant speed. Sick of people playing Creativity turn 4 to get a giant fatty and then shit on your entire board. Literally all the Nykthos faggotry.
What a fucking stupid game this has become.
>>
>>92366807
We already pushed past Hearthstone's worst powercreep mechanics.
We're already seeing the soft OPT effects from YuGiOh. We are rapidly approaching that point.
I wonder how long it will take for WotC to powercreep Pokemon TCG where going +7 is considered a mediocre effect because an optimal turn involves also making your opponent go -7.
>>
I don't understand, isn't this what you all wanted? You wanted every deck to be able to draw cards and have gas every turn. You wanted to never have a dead card ever at any point in the game. The finger curls on the monkey's paw.
>>
>>92366755
That really depends on how we're evaluating things. SNC gave us the rest of the triomes, which is not an insignificant contribution to the problems of Standard and Modern. And I don't do much draft myself, but I'm certain there's been better draft environments in the past 4 years than SNC.

What it seems like is the actual locomotive has a sawblade in the middle but the other train cars have a sawblade on the side of a train. Meaning that its technically creating two rows of disturbed earth as it moves along.

As for the point of the sawblades, I am not entirely sure, and I could be wrong, but I think its meant to be the equivalent of a bike pedal where each time it moves it pushes the train forward. As otherwise I don't see how the saw blades could get any traction like in pic related as there is nothing for it to push off from.

Shadowverse, a Japanese version of Hearthstone meant to be played on trains, also had planeswalking and did a Wild West plane years before Magic... and it sounds like the Shadowverse one had better lore.
>there are interdimensional gods that eat worlds and meddle with them for amusement
>they possess lower beings to do this more efficiently and when they do these people get some of that power
>one such person breaks free and ends up planeswalking to a totally barren world that just has a rock on it
>picks up the rock and becomes god over that world, then splits into 3 demigods to avoid having just 1 supreme being ruling it
>the demigods are immortal but can be killed or die of disease so they end up passing their powers down to successors over generations, then these successors clash with each other for power because they are high on their own godhood leading to a miserable wild west society filled with violence and crime that is about to erupt into an all out war between rich and poor.

Oh, the Thunder Junction epilogue was a wild ride, wasn’t it? But let’s not toss Kellan’s tale aside like last season’s wardrobe. It’s got its own charm, you know?

Sure, it might not have the flash of a cosmic showdown, but it’s got heart. It’s like that indie movie that doesn’t have the explosions but leaves you thinking about it for days. Kellan’s journey? It’s the quiet moments that stick with you, the personal victories that don’t need a parade.

And Jace, bless his planeswalking heart, he’s so caught up in the big picture he’s missing the art in the everyday. It’s not just about saving the Multiverse; it’s about savoring those little wins, like finding your place on a peaceful farm or realizing you’re better off without what you thought you needed.

So here’s to Kellan and his slice-of-life story that reminds us that sometimes, the real magic is in the mundane. And who knows, maybe Jace will take a page out of Kellan’s book and find some joy in the simple things—like a good cup of coffee or a laugh with friends. Because in the end, isn’t that what we’re all looking for?

So I have a question, I don't know much about magic. I know the basic rules and played it some time ago.

I'm currently playing a ttrpg campaign and another player is autistic and made original magic cards based on our characters, bless the lad. Upon talking with another player we aren't sure of how strong the cards he made actually are (although, with autism, I think its fair to assume the cards are probably broken), so I rather just ask someone who knows the game about how strong this card would be, if it would be a funny gimnick or OP

For example, we are not sure how the daybound mechanic works and if the bloodthirst tokens would persist if the card "transforms"
>>
>>92367612
Lorwyn is the first set be designed under the Neo Kamigawa design philosophy.
>>
>>92367637
daybound and nightbound work such that a creature that is daybound immediately transforms if it's night or vice versa. counters stay upon transformation.

>I think its fair to assume the cards are probably broken
this card is actually underpowered in the current era because power creep has made it so that it's nearly impossible for a creature who just hits things fast and hard to be good past 3 mana.
>>
>>92367637
Not OP, honestly pretty weak looking all things considered.
>>
>>92367637
>Haste: Can attack the turn it is played.
>Reach: Can block creatures with flying
>Menace: Must be blocked by two or more creatures
>Attacks each turn if able (meaning it basically can't block while in that state)
They are fine custom cards that I honestly think wotc would unironically make. Basically
>If played during the day, its a 3 turn clock by itself
>If it then transforms into night time, its now more of a 2 turn clock by itself.
Its realistically only missing trample but that is something red and green can easily give it with other cards.
>>
>>92367637
Ask /ccg/.
+1/+1 and other counters stay on permanents as they transform provided they don't leave the battlefield.
Also cramming all those creature types on a double faced cards is just silly. Keep the "werefox" types on the Night side.
Also Wilds of Eldraine had werefoxes and they were typed as Foxes.
>>
>>92367637
The counters stay whenever it transforms. Now according to the backside it ideally only 9/7 unblockable creature most of the time. Now for some ruling tips haste will only work if it enters on its frontside if it enters at night it won't get haste.

How many turns it takes for the card by itself to make an opponets life go from 20 to 0. Assuming it got counters from bloodthirst and it hits an opponent 3 times, it makes them go from 20 to -1, aka you win the game.

>>
>>92367680
I believe MtG is a relatively slow game in turn counts (specially compared to yugioh), so wouldn't it take like 5 turns to get enough lands on the table to summon the creature in the first place?
>>
>>92367672
>shame, I though the "same attack/toughness for mana cost" was still a good measure to see if a card was worth it, and entering with 7/5 for 5 mana sounded good
magic is like a bad edition of dnd: after a certain mana cost, martials simply become unplayable due to overwhelming caster supremacy.

>>92367679
absolutely busted, would see play in every single format

in other words, something wizards might fuck up and print in current era
>>
>>92367679
That is very strong by comparison. Since it only costs a single red mana to activate the first ability, it can very handily clean up the board or apply pressure to your opponent's life. Also being a 3/2 for 2 is a good thing as it can trade up with creatures that are like a 3/3. And the ability to prevent damage for a single white mana means it will realistically survive a lot of combat. And that final ability basically means it can ignore creatures without flying, making it unblockable and has the ability to make other fliers grounded.

Last ability shouldn't be hybrid.
Red isn't known for giving flying, White doesn't take away flying.
You could have a similar impact and stay within the colour pie if you make it "Target creature gains reach."
And repeatable Shock on a 2-drop is too strong for not-eternal formats. Check out Arc Slogger.

How we measure stuff for the clock, is it starts when the creature is in play. Which is if a creature is a 20/20 for example, it is a potentially 1 turn clock by itself provided its given haste to attack the turn iwt enters play.
>>
>>92367716
Makes sense
I suppose that card you just posted is either a non playable one or is missing its "summon" conditions that are printed on a different card, since I don't see mana cost anywhere

Makes me think that the principle of "the only hit point that matters is the last one" isn't as true on MtG, sounds like healing damage is a useful thing in this game

It is a token generated by another card. Dark Depths, when played gets ten 10 ice counters. Normally it requires you pay bunch of mana to crack the ice and free Marit Lage. But with Thespian's Stage you can cheat out the token. As the Stage will not have any counters on it when it comes into play. When the Stage becomes a copy of Depths, it will then get sacrificed due to the legendary rule but also in the process free Marit Lage. Basically very inexpensive way to bring her out.

I really don't like the idea of "paradox magic" being a thing that's known and quantified. It already exists, technically, since that's what animatou did, but it opens up avenues for really stupid writing.
>>
>>92367876
I would be fine with paradox magic if it was just luck related. Like they can use their magic to always get the best hand in a game of poker. As that is just manipulating the odds. Same with rolling dice or playing a slot machine. Where paradox magic would be like having weighted dice or marked cards.

Where it can get dumb is something that sounds so convoluted and can only happen in a very specific way because technically that would technically have odds and chances of happening. Like lets say the character is surrounded by 1000 thugs who each have their gun pointed at her. by the law of probability magic, there is always a chance for one or more of those guns to jam, and there is technically a 1 in 1.0715x10^301 for all 1000 guns to jam.

So let me get this straight

wizards prints the BEST reanimation finisher spell ever to exist in standard, even better than unburial rites, a card that is 6 mana: you win the game. All you have to do is get 2 big threats in your graveyard like a ghalta + carnosaur, or 2x vein rippers. A card so busted it wins the game that same turn, no delays, no untapping

...and in the very next set they reprint rest in peace

>isn't that like skipping your turn?
the idea is that if you're trying to leverage the mechanic you'd play a lot of instant speed stuff so that you're playing on your opponent's turn
but in reality yes its a shit mechanic and graveyard trespasser and the celestus are the only cards with it that ever see play
>>
>>92368493
They are bad to keep track of. As they technically do nothing except either be day or night. Its not entirely skipping your turn, its that your opponent might choose to play a land, then pass to you as they might be a more reactive deck, basically hand traps, which by extension means your creatures transform as your opponent didn't cast.
>>
>>92368466
In a sultai deck, you might be able to ramp to the point where you can do this. You never want to even cast the enchantment unless you have the rd on the field face down and with an extra two mana to flip/donate. Using some green ramp and a bunch of removal/counters until you get there. It's a very niche idea, and as soon as your opponent knows what the bird is doing you might have difficulty resolving the enchantment without your opponent killing the birdy. It's a funny idea, won't be competitive tho.
>>
>>92368511
I don't think it's that big of a deal to have the enchantment for one turn and spend turn 5 playing and flipping the bird.

Is there a set not designed for commander? Standard sets are commander, Modern Horizons 3 is CEDH Horizons, jumpstart is commander, etc.

>EDH players want a land that's only better than a normal land if they have three or more separate monocoloured permanents in play
Like I'm sure SOME decks might but it's VERY niche.
>>
>>92369886
Two or more monocolored permanents gets you better than a normal land, since then it lets you filter colorless into colored.
>>
>>92368758
Focus testing is not going to emphasize subtle nuances in character writing. If this character really is Jace and Vraska's kid, then the question is using "evil villain" as a shortform for "antagonist" to get the point across.
>>
>>92369881
It's best to accept the fact already. When random player says Magic, they're thinking EDH first.
>>
>>92365700
>>92367367
I bet Loot accidentally creates her from Jace and Vraska’s unconscious, unspoken yearning to have a child of their own. Just pops her into existence fully-grown, which is part of why she has bullshit powers.
>>
>>92367810
What are the odds that Eldrazi Tron will have a resurgence in modern when you can grab jitte's like that with urza's saga and whatever eldrazi they print in modern horizon 3??
I would love to play some eldrazi again and not get destroyed.

doesn't work in standard cascade deck with doot dino since the cutoff is discover 5
but that deck already has black virtue anyway, sorcery speed -3/-3 and +2 life > instant speed -2/-2
>>
>land that produces more than 1 mana

well, sure the kneejerk reaction is "how the fuck could this possibly get broken, thats like 5 hoops to jump through"
however given historical precedent, the next question is, HOW is it going to get broken
I mean jesus we already have sunken citadel being a standard powerhouse
shit if you have 2 tarnation vistas and a sunken citadel your 3 lands make 3/4/6/8/10 mana with 1/2/3/4/5 colors of permanents
>>
>>92369895
Yeah, that's probably the case. Just the broad strokes of "this character is a new student secretly working for a big villain for a big villain plot".
Wonder if it's a time-jump, or a kid from the future. Or maybe she isn't actually their kid. But, I suppose, if you compare to Aminatou, this "Paradox" magic could be, like, she retroactively made herself able to be born or something silly like that.
>>
>>92369934
Oh, so, like, significant chance her and Loot end up being "what Jace and Vraska stand to lose if they go through with their plan".
>>
is mtg doomed? is there a way to salvage it or do we just kick back, relax and watch it burn?

It's unironically worse than ever thanks to all the stupid pandering. Like, imagine your ban list is essentially just a gentleman's agreement, but you have to renegotiate it every set because they keep releasing a bunch of ridiculous new bullshit. It's tiresome.

...That's not... Not how it works. At most you're getting 3 extra mana out of it (because you have to pay one), and it's mana of each colour. It's got its place, probably, but I don't think it's Nykthos-level.

Red has multiple cards that take away flying: Earthbind from Alpha, Vertigo from Ice Age, Burning Palm Efreet from Mirage, Goblin Skycutter from Time Spiral. This effect hasn't been used since then, and is probably considered out of red's wheelhouse since Time Spiral (re)defined the color pie, but there's precedent. White has lots of cards that give flying. The two abilities should probably be separate, but have been mashed together to save space.

The other two are also on par with what the colors do, but their cost is way too cheap. Goblin Legionnaire can do both, but requires you to blow it up as a cost. Burning Palm Efreet can do 2 damage to a creature with flying (which takes away flying), but at 1RR instead of R. Essentially the issue is that both abilities are repeatable (don't require the creature to tap, for example, which limits you to picking one per turn) and have a very low cost. In a game where mana sources can produce multiple colors, your only limit is how much mana you have spare when you play it. At a cost of 2 you can drop it and activate multiple times right away.

Good lord, the writing is so bad.
>>
>>92372122
Anon, it's not made yet. This is focus group stuff. This stuff specifically is not about the villain, it's about the character. Villain/plot is irrelevant to the stuff they're testing. Which could mean they're keeping it under wraps to avoid spoilers leaking (reasonable) or that they don't even have a villain in mind and will smash something together by deadline (unfortunate but kind of expected at this point given their overall story quality).

how does this enable a win? digging 2-4 deep for a turn or two won't win.
>>
>>92373109
2-4 a turn is decent rate, not enough to win but a 3 mana draw engine isn't terrible
>>
>>92373109
There's also battles. Invasion of ikoria can grab loot from your deck for 5 mana and contribute to the number of permanent types. Loot doesn't seem amazing, but i could see him as a one of.

People are not prepared for what turning Standard into Extended is going to do to power creep. The only way to sell cards in a 15 set standard and already power crept EDH environments is to just keep printing more and more broken shit. We will have pitch spells in Standard within two years time, and people will actually welcome this as a "check on degeneracy".
