You could also play up the regeneration aspect and have them continuously hit, disengage, go heal, and then return a few minutes later to go again.

That you are defending yourself with dollar tree toys but if you don't have that on you then you are in a tremendous amount of trouble.So, having vampires with human mercs on their side are a huge thread because the PCs have to alternate equipment. If the mercs destroy their squirt guns or crosses then the vampires can rip them to shreds. If the vamps take out their normal equipment the mercs can rip them to shreds. At the very least it is going to make you depend on your magic OCCs because they are the ones that can handle both to some degree.
