What you should do is buy one of the fancy nobles from necromunda and kitbash/paint them into an inquisitor so its more silly looking. Its not like you HAVE to use GWs base models for everything.

This is a modeling hobby first and formost.

Had a vietnam flashback to that one anon that wanted a Kroot dragon and the threads discussing how to get Dragons into 40k. Not the Void Dragon, not Helldrakes but proper fire breathing dragons.
And is Salamanders could ride Salamanders (dragons with 4 legs and no wings) then their arch rivals the Dragon Knights should use winged Salamanders. Shows they used chaos to corrupt and twist their form
>>
>>93907785
People generally don’t like blacks
>>
>>93907792
Just say that they were made by dark age human who want to larp as knights killing dragon same way Fenris is a Norse mythology larp. Have nocturne become a Knight world that have dragons in it
>>
>>93907762
Consider getting a 3d printed tyrant torso out of Etsy or something, that way you get two of them.
My picks were HVC flyrant and strangle thorn tyrant.
I regret not making a swarmlord just for the aesthetics

No, there is nothing about it in detail.
There are some glimpses in some of the HH books (mostly short stories).
Some of the HH novels are guard heavy too (Legion for example), so if that is your thing, go for it.
In general, if you are not interested in space marines, most HH books can be ignored. (Even tho some focus on civilians, assassin's etc too)

Nah, it's not a 3 pronged spear.
It's a trident. Comes from the fact it leaves 3 (tri)dents into whatever it hits.
>>
You guys are forgetting that 10th edition made all wych weapons into "blades" including the net, the agonizer, the impaler, and the hydra gauntlets. So it doesn't matter what weapon you give them or the succubus, it's still WYSWYG because all those weapons use the same profile

You can just say you have no idea how it'd affect them.

Besides, your Avatar example would be correct if someone wanted to 3D print an Avatar model with a glaive and after people bitched about the current kit not coming with a glaive, someone pointed to the 2004 Epic model as an example of an Avatar with a glaive.

Salamanders have a niche, and it's their humanity. They are willing to preform tasks other chapters deem as inneffective be cause they wish to minimize human casualties as much a possible. How about instead of flandarizing them like the Space Wolves, make them into a representation of the gallant defenders knights were suppose to be, which many actual knights weren't.

What dice would enhance the fluff-crunch relation in 40k?
D10 or D20?
I would say a D20 to properly represent weapon/ballistic skills and armour saves, and the rest stays a d6.
Although it would be turbo shit because GW can't balance a fun game to save their lives
>>
>>93908415
In 4e, for example, heavy and special weapons were not limited to 1 per 5. Your 5-man tactical squad could take a plasma gun and lascannon, or your terminator squad could take two assault cannons. Then 5th edition made them 1 per 5 and suddenly there was a lot of people with spare special and heavy weapons they couldn't use or had to buy more models to make their units legal. IG conscripts used to be able to take some weapon options. Then they were made just all lasguns. Now conscripts are gone. There's also been plenty of times when some units or options haven't had models and people spammed them via conversion or 3rd party models because they were good, and GW took them away.

I just feel like now that GW has told people to go ahead and do whatever, people will. Until options come back and people will have units with a mix of weapons that might not work together or you have too many of some weapon that's now limited to X per Y models. And you have to pay all the points for those options.

Bottom line: Don't trust GW, GW is asshole.

Jes goodwin considers their plastic models flawless, so he's not letting other people touch them, plus a starter set, by virtue of being obligated to have the elite marines on one side, absolutely needs a more horde-like enemy on the other side in order to pretend this wargame box has a good amount of models inside, elves are not conductive for this and the 3rd ed precedent is moot.

You think space marines overruning fire warriors wouldn't make for a heroic trailer but the battle suits of the Tau tend to tower over Marines. When the crisis suits, ghostkeels and riptides start appearing Marines will look like heroes fighting for what's right against things that are two, three, four times bigger than them.

Since I also build DnD minis for a friend and do historical miniature dioramas for fun I can confirm that GW miniatures are among the highest quality in sheer detail and production engineering on the market.
Not only do they have the best plastic but they also have some thought put into them when it comes to assembling and painting.
Anyone who shits on GW minis should try some other minis as a comparison.

This varies greatly between kits. There are some that are recent kits that very clearly were a case of an automated program making the sprue placement as efficient as possible, gap filling is mandatory on even some relatively recent kits like squighogs. Generally an issue I have with a lot of newer GW kits is them breaking infantry size miniatures into a million tiny pieces to optimize the sprue, though I do concede that some of it is to make the cast come out as good as possible, it sort of defeats that purpose if it's leaving a bunch of hard to fill gaps.

Theorizing about lists isn't too useful if you haven't played many games. However, some guidelines I follow are:
>4-6 beatstick units
Offensive damage dealers. Warboss+nobz, beastboss+beastboyz, etc. Usually runs 1200-1600 points
>Transports for beatsticks if they're infantry
>Utility/action pieces
Backline screening, mobile secondary scorers, deep strikes. Grots, stormboys, warbikers. Transports once they've dumped their passengers and are still alive. 300-500 points.

Okay I'll give you the shortest brainwashing possible.
An army needs to be able to kill a lot of little things, several medium things and a couple of big things. You want these to be across multiple types of units so an enemy can't kill all of your answers to their units by just killing one type of unit. You then want to be able to be on objectives first, and/or be able to take enemy units off of objectives. Then you want guys that can do secondaries, which generally just means they have to be able to move far enough to be where they can stand or activate stuff.

My 1k Retaliation Cadre army isn't perfect, it's not even battle tested, but you can see the point this way:
Farsight leading 3-man Sunforge Suits: Big fucking damage on single units and elites
Coldstar leading 3-man Starscythe Suits (Burst Cannons and Flamers): Hyper-mobile crowd control, spraying down hordes. Flamers make split fire practical.
Three 3-man Stealth Battlesuit Squads: Infiltrators for early board presence; made more threatening by detachment. Spotting.
Darkstrider leading Pathfinders with Rails: Big Damage on an infantry body. Infiltrators for more board presence. Screening and spotting.
Breachers in a Devilfish: Infantry Objective Pushing, more bodies and close in damage.

The rest is just going to be getting a feel for what you like, how you can build it up and what works. In addition to fitting the combat patrol I bought, this also works on a fluff level as a cool ambush stealth implementation of Tau, which I can extend to higher point limits with Ghostkeels, Firesights and so on.

Unless you're chasing tournament wins you should have fun with army building, and if you ARE trying to win official events, you'll be a much better player if you get a feel for things more organically. Knowing WHY you take one unit over another requires you to have some passing familiarity with both units.

True, I dunno I just want human cults that worship aliens or stumble upon aliens that teach them about their gods. 40k turned all that into chaos cults and daemons which is fine.

Like this picture we see a a massive deep one alien being, utterly otherwordly and a human ship and crew both looking at the same symbol on the rock. I really like the ida of humans and aliens that are beyond them in size, scope and reason worshipping the same alien gods. And to the Alien god, it is so beyond both the humans on that ship and Dagon they, despite their massive differences are bascally the same tier of life.
Choas xenos would do a lot to fill this niche for me, but a rogue C'tan or shard controlling humans and xenos would also be cool

I mean, lets be real I wouldn't be throwing out advice I wasn't at least trying to follow. The Ghostkeel I mentioned would be a great choice to give a higher T unit for enemies to chew on and it'd be my first edit if or when this list gets dumpstered, or extending to 2k. Still, the point holds: If you're not just playing waac skew (in a format that lets you get away with it-- like a competitive meta where you know your opponents are going to skew the same or a different way), you want variety and flexibility to take all comers.

And recently we talked about our hobbies and I gave her a brief rundown and showed her some painted minis in the hope she would like to try it as well, but she seemingly couldn't care less, not mad or anything, but it would be really cool if we could paint stuff together you know.

Melta is short range and kinda bulky, also it's an anti armour weapon.
Volkite weapons are more nimble and compact, more mid range and destined for anti infantry duty with a bit of splash effect. It was supposed to replace the bolter to reduce dependence on ammo, but its more complex to make and the knowledge was kinda lost in the heresy and the fallout after it.

Almost all tournaments including ones like NOVA and Adepticon with significant GW presence, do not give one single fuck. Why do you nogames out yourselves like this?

Its only of significant concern at WHW, where you will never play.
>>
The idea that Dark Eldar will ever get the edition focus again is laughable. GW clearly is trying to memory hole them as a footnote to the Ynnari.
>>
>>93910008
Impossible not to, or at least a fat analogue unique to them. Organs and neurons literally stop working without fat, that's why many competition.bobybuilders drop dead during the last stretch when they need to slim down to lower single-digits BF %.

They also.never once looked like they actually had no fat on them in any art ever, not even in the Xenology thingie that said they didn't have fat.
>>
>>93906514

I will check when I get home since I still have the first codex for Tau on my bookshelf that I got when they first came out (well, technically my mom got it for me) to see. I saw the response in the other thread about the 4th edition codex. I could have sworn the first "real" mention of the Ethereal "control" thing was from Xenology because I specifically remember the illustration of the Tau Ethereal (or maybe just a regular Tau?) looking quite distraught and quite dead, but had had a vivisection performed.

But, I'd also like to mention that codicies written back then were also from Imperial perspective, sort of in-universe. For example, the 3rd edition Necron codex. I'm not sure if this is done anymore as I see no point in reading the fluff for the 40k system anymore as it no longer interests me with what it has become.

Knights have always liked the Callidus and nothing really changes there. The Kill Teams seem pretty solid for the price compared to a Warglaive, if you wanted to put them in I don't think it would be an objectively bad choice, just have to see if that fucks up the rest of your list and have to drop a second Armiger just due to how it works out and how many points it leaves you.

You can’t expect others to know what you’re thinking in your head, agro faggot. You have to articulate your point in an argument, lest your opinion be discarded as nothing more than squabble — which it was. All tournaments have a check in place for 3rd party and reserve the right to lay judgement on models they deem “illegal”. “They don’t care” does not imply that at all, hence your opinion was discarded. You then backpedaled to “they still don’t care, but they check” which is you conceding. Now, kindly shut the fuck up. They do care clearly stated with their check policy. If you told some first-timer “they don’t care” and then they bring their models to their first game at NOVA, their 3rd party model would be removed. Why? Because simply stating “they don’t care” without also mentioning “but get the prior approval” sets them up for failure. How is that hard to see for you?

>>
>>93910355
It does, though it's mostly dead save for the sweatiest of tryhards still playing it.
>>
>>93910596
Eldar have a funny history of randomly spiking to be oppressively good inbetween periods of being "alright". They're not the worst faction to pick but they tend to be quite difficult to play just because they're based on little tricks more than their statlines being particularly good.

Wraiths are ok, building an army out of them is sort of like trying to fit a square into a round hole though - the faction really isn't intended to be like that. You can certainly try, how good it will be will depend on how sweaty your local scene is
>>
>>93910596
Eldar are typically “good” in the sense that GW doesn’t know how to balance them well so they, at some point in the current edition, are broken and strong. They’re currently a middling level of strength due to all the nerfs. But that being said, you should stick with what you think is cool or a play style you’re interested in. As always “rules are temporary, models are forever”. To answer your second question, you can definitely build an army around the wraith models, but none of them are “troops” so you’ll have to support them with typical units from the army.
>>
>>93910596
Eldar are an army of losers and cucks played exclusively by losers and cucks. Your husband would likely be disgusted if you were to pick them.

Do space marines get sexual education?
I mean, I know they are supposed to be sterile and some chapters do recruit young adults so no problem there.
But what about those who primarily recruit preteens, do they even know how the babby is formed, or is there some floating legends around about the Emps himself delivers babies to good parents?

Easy placation of retards.
90% of the time the characters you see on the book covers don't even appear in the book itself and it quite literally is just window dressing.
Prime example is that one Space Wolves book with 1 black dude and 1 black woman vikings on the cover.
Neither of them appear in the book itself at all.

>>
>>93912009
>what is with Dawn of Fire and not having any consistent plot thread
I'm going off some vague memory here and I'm not gonna put in the minutes to check that I didn't just imagine this, so take this as you will. But basically at the start of it all Guy Haley, who is the lead writer for the series, said that there from the outset there was a big payoff planned for the end, but that only he and the editors really knew what it was, and that the other writers (excepting Kyme, as he is also an editor) were mostly unaware of how everything would fit together at the end. So if you feel like the series is very loosely plotted, that's probably because the individual writers simply didn't know the details of the metaplot and were told to write whatever they felt like for the most part.

it's pretty solid, very big themes about the Imperials Faith and it's power versus the Faith in Nurgle that the Death Guard, who are the primary antagonists, have. It doesn't do anything necessarily groundbreaking for a 40k book but if you wanna read about Sisters of Battle and Templars doing righteous stuff it's a good read. It's got Exorcists, how Penitent Engines get made and deployed and the classic Living Saint saving the day. The Templar characters are fairly samey with the biggest standout being a non Primaris Templar Dreadnought with a fuckhueg power sword. The Savlar Chemdogs also feature but they're a very very minor role and don't get a ton of screen time. The secondary plot with the Fenrisian Rouge Trader revolves around her attempts to find a way through the Rift and into Nihilis, I've got about an hour left of listening so not sure how it all resolves but it's quite neat imo.

>>93912121
That tracks then, a lot of these books have had events which seem like they might collaborate into something big but it's not really shown enough to be certain. Hopefully the final book explains and ties it all together.

I like battle reports, but only good ones. If I'm watching you on youtube I expect.
>armies fighting eachother to be loreful (no IoM vs IoM or other mirror match)
>armies to be painted in traditional schemes. None of that greytide or proxying crap.
>Players to know their rules.
>Good terrain setup
>lorefully composed armies
>maybe a 3min narrative background.

I essentially want the perfect game I never get from playing with my LGS. If you can't deliver that fine, just don't make a 30 min video of something I can just do myself.

surely you could cut down the number of attacks if you have broader volume of range of dice. Marines could make a single attack each in close combat, and hit on 7s for example, whereas sisters hit on 10s.

A big problem with the d6 is the "1's always fail 6's always succeed" mindset of 10th. A simple fix is if T is more than (or maybe equal to) double S of incoming weapons, it cant wound.

GW wrote themselves into a corner by making it so they can't fall to Chaos, they can only serve the Eccliarsy, and they're strictly nuns with guns.

If GW would stop being retarded and let them be nuns for other ideas, or even Primarchs, it'd free them from so many things.
