>>93916102This is extremely evident with basically any downshifted card printed in mh3 that isn’t seeing play in modern. Old printings dropped but the price memory kept them fairly high. Mh3 printings are literal pennies (see:barbarian ring).

>>93918496MaRo's excuse for Play Boosters was that he had at times mistakenly opened a Set Booster instead of a Draft Booster.I seriously wonder why anybody views him as credible about anything. He has said so much. Like the actual quantity of things he's said about the game is so fucking immense that if you actually read/listen to everything he says you will realize that any time he has to obfuscate the truth he will be brief; and he will give long winded answers justifying dogshit product.I have had to listen to people say for years that MaRo knows how to make the game. Well, clearly he fucking doesn't because he's still there and it's gotten worse, which suggests he isn't a defender of anything that was good because he's out there defending this shit.Horror in video games has made so many fucking leaps beyond what movies have done in the past decade. Single games contain simply the most horrific shit you can imagine and can steal wholesale to inspire an entire Magic set. And yet they still chose to pull entirely from the 80s, which has less total convincing horror than a single modern video game.
>>93918709Oh shit i forgot. I may actually play pioneer. When will they print bolt into the format?

>>93917556What platform is it? I don't recognize the interface, doesn't look like MTGO or Xmage
>>93918870It isn't just the themes. It is the style of art. There is something too tame about most of them.
>>93918999This. Standard would be 100% better if it had bolt right now.In before shitters say that RDW decks would be unbeatable if they had bolt. Protip: Bolt also shits on those decks hard.
>>93919140>The answers to problematic decks aren’t problems themselves!Spotted the JOTC traitor, also red tards belong in pauper containment.
>>93919046>There is something too tame about most of them.Because everything looks like The Thing doing nothing that makes The Thing actually scary. It's easy to understand why everything in this set has no fucking balls. Imagine a bear, bears are visually adorable, if I drew a picture of a bear just standing there (like all the horrors in Duskmourne), you would probably have a neutral reaction. If I drew a picture of what a bear does to people namely shred their bodies with their claws, bite off chunks of flesh, and then proceed to eat them alive, suddenly bears are something out of a horror movie.Off the top of my head there is only a single card that shows what these monsters do to people, and it's they put you in a cocoon and you emerge a brainwashed cultist. That's fine. Except now you're looking at all these clawed monsters and you realize they aren't going to rape, murder, and horribly maim you. And this means that the monsters are manageable, that they are in fact less horrifying than people.
>>93919240Actually only the cultists put people into the cocoons. The monsters do varying things to you. Cellarspawns eat you until all that's left is a remnant that's just in agony. Wickerfolk turn you into one of them. Razorkin brutally maim and murder you or torture you until you break and become one of them. The animated toys just seem to kill you. The Fears consume you and become strengthened by your nightmares.
>>93919293>The monsters do varying things to you.Respectfully, if I don't see this shit on cards then it's not real. I know you're pulling this information from some official Wizards source, but if you have to depend on the reference materials to understand what the fuck is going on then the visual component of the game is a total and utter failure in expressing anything but a pile of useless tentacle monster drawings.
>>93918993Every black deck needs to run it because it's the only efficient option available.
>>93919329At the very least the Cellarspawn thing is shown on cards. Admittedly nothing really showing the rest, though you can infer for the Fears based on the faces in the art, I guess.
>>93919329All forms of bizarre torture are directly stated or implied to happen on Valgavoth's Wild Ride

There's a lot of cool art in this set, but isn't there always. The problem is that the only overarching theme is "horror", and so the different styles of it clash together. Camp, slasher or psychological can only work on its own, I think. This is why Bloomburrow was so great, because it was so tight and stylistically consistent, even down to art styles.
>>93919897>control sun titan>still afraid of the dark damned limited mechanics
>>93919897I don't know why the Gremlins are even a thing. They exist on, like, three cards, and only one actual creature card. Beasties at least have a uniqueness factor even if they're relatively under-used, but Gremlins are... Just not used.
>>93919974Oh, my mistake, 5 cards. Three cards make the token, one card is just a Gremlin on its own, and then one depicts a Gremlin. Still, absurdly small presence for something that got a whole entry in the Planeswalker's Guide and everything. There's just genuinely TOO many things.

>>93920421The pie itself has lost much meaning, however what mindskinner (the 10/1) is doing isn't new and is part of the old color pie. At most its a power creep on a very old gameplay mechanic from like 2005.
>>93916391Almost certainly too bad to see play, but an orzhov deck blinking/spamming bandits talent, ringtones joins up and hopeless nightmare *might* find some niche use for him.

>>93920506Richard Garfield made the colour pie for a reason. Killing that is killing the very essence of MTG.
>>93920506If only there wasn't any way to turn off damage prevention...
>>93920547The really crazy thing is that ONE was already a huge step back from already established Phyrexia / Phyrexians (basically just humans in bone armor cosplay). How was ONE "too far"?
>>93920547>anon mad that the business wants to sell more productThis is your fault for not giving them enough money :)
>>93920581Richard Garfield also created>Ante>Black Lotus>Time Walk>No deckbuilding restrictions>Artifact (video game)I'm sure he had a reason for those
>>93920638Artifact was honestly extremely well designed and very tactical. It was just a special kind of cuck-slaughtering frustration that its casual gamer target audience couldn't get into.
>>93920670>One of the most core game actions (playing creatures and attacking) has an RNG mechanic behind itNo, it really wasn't. It was a game that *felt* smart when you were first playing it but after you got good at it you realized the gameplay loop was insanely degenerate because it basically boiled down to every deck playing an unholy abomination of aggro and stax at the same time.
>>93920604Now let's give it haste and double strike
Okay okay hear me out.Leylines...but creatures
>>93915958I didn't look closely enough at The Mindskinner last time. I didn't notice the "any source" clause
>>93920722U/R enchantment rapes
I still this guy is going to be busted somewhere
>>93920733
>>93920606I think the funny thing about ONE is that maro thinks it's being super edgy with exposed muscles everywhere but he only thinks that because that's how they wrote it. Anybody who looks at the art thinks the White Phyrexians are just wearing neon red plastic because all the art is just that fucking bad compared to the realistic painted exposed muscles from Scars block. You look at all of Norn's underlings in Scars and none of them have the ridiculous neon red from ONE. It's so fucking awful how phoned in the art is.
>>93920775You can cast it and then follow up either with a Bone Harvest type effect, milling your opponent for at least three, or just holding up your opponent's creatures while you swing for six. And if your opponent kills the thing, that just gives you more time to turn what's left of his library to your advantage.
>>93920733>Essence of the Goblin>3R>Creature - Goblin>If ~ is in your opening hand, you may begin the game with it on the battlefield.>First strike, haste>Whenever ~ enters, attacks, or leaves, deal 1 damage to any target, then exile the top card of your library. Until the end of your next turn, you may play that card.>Whenever you play a card exiled by this card's effect, create a Treasure token.>2/2
It's absolutely dumb as hell to call Duskmourne the horror set when it's clearly camp-horror daytime tv BuffytVS/Goosebumps/Aaah Real Monsters/X-Files/Are You Afraid Of The Dark twee nonsense but also trying to thread the line of "proper horror" (whatever the fuck that means) and failing spectacularly at both. Putting Chucky and the Ghostbusters behind Secret Lair is just insult on injury. I do like some of the Fear Of cards, sure. But that's less than ten out of 250. Not worth more than a booster pack gamble when you're bored.
>>93919374>the trick with horror is that there's also a portion of players than can be turned off by it if images get too graphicHorror is meant to be ick, and unsettling, and disturbing, and uncomfortable, and gruesome, and bleak. You can't appeal to everyone with horror. This is a proven fact and trying to go for a wider appeal loses the point and creates a watered down experience.>The team working on Duskmourne wanted to make it a nod to the proper slice of horror while still being senitive to what types of images creep people out. This half-commitment shit is exactly why Bloomburrow is the big hit from this year and why MKM, OTJ, and now DSK is considered weak offerings. Because Bloomburrow actually committed to what its set was about in fullness. Like who the fuck puts googly eyes on a spider and thinks that is creepy?
>>93920910>then exile the top card of your library. Until the end of your next turn, you may play that card.
NEW BREW ALERT
>>93920912Bloomburrow was a hit because cute animals, that's it. Glimmers in Duskmourn being (mostly) cute animals is not particularly horror related, but I guarantee the set would sell worse without them.
>>93920949I don't have an issue with glimmers. I have an issue with the art direction being crap. Like look at this. What exactly screams horror about the art, not the flavor text. If I took away the duskmourn symbol and flavor text, would you say this came from a horror-themed plane on first glance?
>>93920945>new
>>93920975Find me a boros hammer time list please.
>>93920960Not every card is going to be 100% on theme, especially if you decide to ignore flavor text. Like ISD was mostly gothic horror, but it still had references to more modern stuff. If invisible stalker had been printed in DSK instead of a decade ago, would people be complaining about it too?
>>93920977no
>>93920960Ignoring the minor details like the fucked up greenhouse setting, the cocoons hanging in the background, the monster in the background, and the eyeball in the plant. Because you won't notice such things on a card.I think the vines coming from all around wrapping in an organized manner rather than randomly around a guy with a demented face and forming circular shapes not unlike ritual circles makes a pretty convincing show that it's a horror situation. The flavour text adds to it even if it's stupid boilerplate shit. The real problem with this card is that it's a 0/4 that taps for any colour. Yes, this is appropriate for an Uncommon but it's also a card that shits up Limited enough that it should never have been printed. We're not casting Eldrazi in this set so something like this is actually obscene in how much power it gives a player.
>>93920911Have you ever checked out Changeling: the Lost? According to it, "alien abductions" exist in the World of Darkness, but are actually just another way the True Fey fuck with people. I think either the artist or the art director know this bit of WoD lore, and are using it to rationalize this card and the Hovership existing in Duskmourn
>>93920911Oh, also, you're correct, and the Wizards team have basically said as much. Innistrad is gothic horror, Phyrexia is body horror, Duskmourn is slasher/campy/creature feature horror
>>93921041I mean, the fears aren't saying actual aliens exist on Duskmourn. Just the fear of being abducted does, or did, and the House is making use of that fear. Irrational fears are still fears.
>>93921036>manadork shits up LimitedDreadful
>>93921041Those two cards are clearly meant to reference ayys, but they still make sense in universe. Abduction isn't just done by aliens, and it's pretty relevant in a set where a demon kidnaps people into an inescapable house. Both cards also have Valgavoth's moth motif.
>>93920996People were fine with it. While the setting of Innistrad is meant to be a throwback to victorian and early medieval, it wasn't shy about mixing more modern pieces of horror that actually fit, as Innistrad was the defacto horror plane. The only real reason people grew tired of Innistrad was that we had visited it so often. Literally SOI and EMN was doing the body horror aesthetic of The Thing mixed with Lovecraft in ways that Duskmourn wishes it could do.>>93921036Then why not do a close up shot of the subject in the greenhouse? Show, not telling, that face twisted in pain and joy. Show a root digging into the flesh. Where the art is actually unsettling. Where the flavor text could be shortened down to>He could feel himself becoming one with the woods.
>>93921085That said, them having alien motifs doesn't really make sense diegetically, unless it's explicitly tapping into pre-House fears of alien abduction, which, I mean, I guess it could be?
>>93920484>707.2. When copying an object, the copy acquires the copiable values of the original object's characteristics and, for an object on the stack, choices made when casting or activating it (mode, targets, the value of X, whether it was kicked, how it will affect multiple targets, and so on). The copiable values are the values derived from the text printed on the object (that text being name, mana cost, color indicator, card type, subtype, supertype, rules text, power, toughness, and/or loyalty), as modified by other copy effects, by its face-down status, and by "as . . . enters" and "as . . . is turned face up" abilities that set power and toughness (and may also set additional characteristics). Other effects (including type-changing and text-changing effects), status, counters, and stickers are not copied. Rite of Replication copies the cost.
>>93921143>Weirded Vampire>not a Vampire Weird
>>93921143I agree the art could be better, but the low low threshold of being clear it represents a horror theme was crossed. The "is this horror" threshold is pretty easily passed for most if not all cards in this set, especially if you're cracking boosters and seeing everything in context.I agree with you that the direction is lazy and uninspired and unscary. I just don't think accusation that cards being off-flavour is the case. The flavour itself is shit to be sure, like dungeon crawling in a wheelchair, but they definitely did deliver the shit.
>>93921143>it wasn't shy about mixing more modern pieces of horror that actually fitIt didn't fit, is the point. Even just "victiorian and early medieval" is two completely different things separated by over a thousand years, a mad scientist should not be sharing the same space as villagers who look like they haven't figured out steel yet. People obviously enjoyed Innistrad, I did too. I'm just saying it seems hypocritical to get mad about Duskmourn having inconsistencies while loving Innistrad despite or even because of the inconsistencies.
>>93920638>AnteBased>Black lotus>Time walkReasonable at the time when card games were not a thing>No deckbuilding restrictions Not a bad thing. Adding extra rules early on may have hurt magic>Artifact Not bad just not great
>>93921077It's one thing to have an irrational fear, it's another thing for that fear to look like nothing that exists in your own world in order to be a reference to a goofy alien design in our world.
>>93921167That wasn't what I was talking about
>>93920945>>93920977https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/5403010#paperhttps://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/5413027#paperthe deck is a bit old by now, not counting the lists before scamp got printed in ONE
>>93921214I also criticized Innistrad for having machines powered by electricity in order to do a Frankenstein reference in their movie monster set.
>>93921217>implying anything like zeta reticulans exist in our world
>>93921143>>93921214Forgot to add, labman could easily get reprinted unchanged even in the space opera set without looking out of place. Literally just swap out the set symbol, you can keep the art and flavor text. That's how generic it is.
>>93921252If they actually existed in our world, they wouldn't be a "goofy alien design", would they?
>>93921225Oh fuck yeah, thanks for sharing. Some cool options there.
>>93921251Fair enough, at least you're not hypocritical about it. But that's far from the only example, there's a bunch of cards where they clearly just wanted to make a reference and didn't care that much about it meshing with the rest of the plane. I was half expecting a creepy doll reprint in DSK, it fits right in. I don't know if it's nostalgia or something else, but a lot of people seem to hold OG Innistrad on a pedestal and conveniently ignore that a lot of their criticisms for more modern sets also apply to it.
>>93921275They're a product of someone's imagination in that world just like in ours.
>>93921214The worst thing about Innistrad's mad scientists is that each time we returned to Innistrad they were still there and their labs were not seized and razed and they were executed. Actually that was the problem with everything on Innistrad. You could believe there was a balance before (the monsters kept to themselves for the most part away from humanity) and Avacyn's absence destabilized the setting but once she came back she should have been utterly cleansing entire communities of every horror in a day as she is functionally a god. The vampire families and werewolf tribes should have totally and utterly retreated to the far wilderness; the ocean should have been totally cleansed of the undead. It really should have just been Geralf and Ludivec and Gisa who survived representing the zombie tribe. The vampire families could keep their strongholds as they would take too long to clear immediately. The vampires themselves probably should have written to Thraben pointing out that some weird shit was going on.
>>93921216Ante was such a dumb idea it created the YGO anime's premise where the "best" player is a billionaire with a stranglehold on the game who aggressively prevents anyone else from getting cards that could compete with him.Artifact is arguably the worst card game to ever be published by a major company in the last 10 years. This is not an exaggeration it was really just that atrocious.
>Richard Garfield shit an stinky shit>Ooooooh what an awesome stinky shitGet over it faggots, that retard did things very very wrong even if you like him so much.
>>93921336>Ante was such a dumb idea it created the YGO anime'slol who cares
>>93921336>Ante was such a dumb ideaThe game is FAR more exciting with ante.
>>93921356Yeah the game's also more exciting if a saw cuts off your legs when you lose that doesn't make it good design.
>>93921359>Yeah the game's also more exciting if a saw cuts off your legs when you lose that doesn't make it good design.tbhfam that sounds like great design to me.
>>93921327I think Sorin gave Avacyn some condition where she got stronger as humanity got weaker, and vice versa. So the more she drove back the monsters, the weaker she'd become. Hence why in Shadows things got dire, because her attacking humans meant that she got stronger for every success.
>>93921318And they just so happen to look exactly like a meme alien that is also known for abduction in our world? Even if you can provide a rock solid reason for it to look like that, WotC didn't bother to explain it and it looks like a really dumb reference to irl pop culture.
wasn't the original goal of sld to bring needed reprints without having to shove it in a set? why have they shifted course to printing chaff with a picture of goku on it?
>>93921379>looks like a really dumb reference to irl pop cultureThat's the whole point of the set.
>>93921385Mark's people are well known for lying to get their foot in the door and doing the opposite of what they promised while claiming it was your idea all along.
>>93921385Because if they reprint a good card it might devalue the secondary market. That's it.
>>93921379Space Opera set could very well have greys.
>>93921395And that's a BAD thing.
>>93921407I do wonder if they'll just have all the aliens under the blanket Alien type or if they'll make a few unique types.
>>93921418For you.
>>93921419My hopes: they don't have an alien type at all, having humans be the default in a space opera setting is boring.Probable reality: a couple of specific alien types that get batched into an alien grouping.
>>93921445We already have an existing Alien type used on black-border cards from Unfinity and Doctor Who, and I'm pretty sure Mark's already... Basically confirmed that Alien will be in the set because why wouldn't it be. The real question is will they have a wide variety covered under an umbrella term, or how's that work. I wouldn't be surprised if they made one unique alien species that's more widespread and the rest are just Aliens.
We need a new format as soon as possible.
>>93921445They're already using Clown, Alien is a given.
>>93921419>>93921445If i see a a lot of humans in Space Opera i will be sad.
The issue between Innistrad and Duskmourne is as follows:Innistrad (Twins of Maurer Estate)- Reference to creepy twins from The Shining, with an actual Innistrad spin on them, they are vampires to fit the setting and are featured in a different framing- Flavour text is non referential- Subtle overall, but still a referenceDuskmourne (Unsettling Twins)- Uses the exact same framing as the scene from The Shining along with much more similar hair / clothing- No real attempt to make a reference through the lens of Duskmourne's setting other than the shadows- Flavour text is straight from the movie as wellThis is the difference between an expressive homage design and taking a baseball bat and hitting you in the head screaming "Did you get the reference yet?"
>>93921473>Foundations symbol is a proxy looking starHow very on the nose.
>>93921369I feel like you can't build a faith if your god-figure has to hold back from protecting humanity because some stupid balance was holding her back.It should have been that the vampires and werewolves had an agreement with Avacyn that they would not act out of line and disavow any members that preyed on humanity, permitting the angels to annihilate those who break the peace. This would have maintained the peace. And if the people bitched about this arrangement the angels would explain that it's not an easy task dragging humanity out of a subsidence existence and the angels themselves are limited in number. The vampire families could just exist in this perpetual state of gang war/Valhalla where all they do is eat (normal food), arts and crafts, drink, fuck, and fight just all day.
>>93921473hey thanks for saving my picunfortunately I don't expect pioneer 2 to happen until early 2029, which is when foundations is going to rotate from standard
>>93920477>claims to be a white player >openly commits heresy by associating with blue I cast thee as a heretic, sister.
>>93921519It's been a while since I read the story, but I don't think anyone except Sorin actually knew about that balance. Avacyn was always doing her best (before Emrakul) regardless of how powerful she was at the time, she was never intentionally holding back to empower herself.
>>93921520>5 more years of bullshitNoooooooooooooo
>>93921504I don't think the Maurer Estate Twins are really a Shining reference. Just a broader "creepy children/twins" trope. Unsettling Twins is more specific.
Alright, with Skeletons about as optimized as I can get it (It's probably far from perfect, but I'm retarded so someone else will need to fix up the rest.) it's on to the next brew! This one is much less of a custom brew, sadly. Yes, yes, I admit it, it's just Hammer Time. Okay not quite....I posted the Cacophony Scamp meme, and while I love stupid turn 2 gamble kills as much as the next guy, I also love consistency. The NEW BREW ALERT wasn't just a regular Pioneer Hammer Time variant.I think I've found a very comfy setup for Hammer Time that abuses a few potent pieces that the format has to offer. With that said, may I present you with...>Drumroll...>ratatatatatatatatatat....Hammer Cats!Hammer Time but with Cats.Recursive cats! Cats so nice you have to kill them twice! Which makes it Hammer Time but with a surprising amount of staying power, the Lifelink on Sacred Cat plus the obvious Shadowspear as backup gives the list huge potential to out-pace any and all aggro too.You heard me right, I'M THE RETARD COMING WITH THE SHITBREWS YOU FEAR.HAMMER.CATS.
>>93921504Unsettling Twins at least doesn't have another last words flavor text.
>>93921549Yeah, Avacyn never actually knew she was created until moments before Sorin killed her. She was just instilled with a desire to protect humanity and went with it.
>>93921519The angel faggotry has always been the problem with Innistrad. It should've been just monsters vs monsters with humans trying not to become food too often in the middle of their feuds.
>>93921549I mean sure it is what it is.It's just my preference that the vampires and werewolves and angels could actually come to some kind of agreement as sane sentient beings could rather than it being a magically enforced system. Like Avacyn could just spend all her time dealing with demons, who are unrepentant psychopathic cunts - the werewolves and vampires could agree to their extermination. The werewolves can live among nature and the vampires, who really don't want more competition just wouldn't grow their numbers.Like Innistrad could have been an incredibly peaceful place before Avacyn got locked up.
>>93921561don't lose all hope, because I could be wrongmy previous prediction model was something like this:>modern>gets announced in 2011>pioneer >gets announced in 2019>2019 - 2011 = 8 years>2019 + 8 = 2027the problem is that there wasn't any impactful event scheduled to happen in 2027 like MH1 getting introduced in 2019 and completely changing modem forever the new assumption is that foundations leaving standard in 2029 is going to be a big deal and people will want a place to play with their foundation cards, and by then pioneer might just have moved past it for whatever reason, so creating a new nonrotating format would make sense
I don't want more formats I want these retards to fix the existing ones.
>>93921504Now explain why Innistrad has >>93921301, when the idea of killer dolls didn't take off until TV and films in the 1900s.
>>93921679Sorin created Avacyn precisely because the vampires were overkilling humanity and about to starve themselves out. Vampires are mostly not reasonable on Innistrad.
>>93921579Can you do something else? Both hammer time and kemba hammer time already have people working on them in pioneer

>>93921731>Can you do something else? Both hammer time and kemba hammer time already have people working on them in pioneerNo cat tribal hammer time deck is currently or has been worked in prior. All of them just use Kemba to equip itself with nothing else.
>>93921704The problem is that Standard and Pioneer are the only real formats left.Everything else is at the whim of direct-to and UB sets. It's beyond fixing.
What if Bolas trapped in the Meditation Realm learns about Valvagoth's trick about expanding the manor he can't escape from and then begins to expand the Meditation Realm aiming to engulf the whole multiverse?
>>93921747He's too busy getting filled with white mana to care about that.
>>93921747>What if Bolas trapped in the Meditation RealmWeird way to spell Ugin's Butthole...> then begins to expand the Meditation Realm aiming to engulf the whole multiverse?OwO
>>93921679It would've never worked, Innistrad vampires are specifically arrogant and treat humans like cattle, they were going to wipe out humanity and thus their food source before Sorin stepped in. Werewolves are specifically wild and uncontrollable, pretty much every story involving one is about how they go on a rampage when the moon is out. Spirits are similar, though I guess there's benevolent ones so maybe they could do something there. Zombies are the only realistic option since they're created and controlled by someone, but even then there's no guarantee they're rational especially since they're raising zombies in the first place.
>>93921570Just use a Delver of Secrets / Unsettling Twins comparison then, it is essentially the same issue. ISD references were through the lens of the actual setting, DSK references are literally just the original thing.
>Reidtard Duke unironically calling the new flash emperor “white card advantage”I can’t. It’s beyond a pathetic joke now. We’re at the point where these paint huffers actually think a flash blocker is fucking card advantage for White. As if there’s not a dozen removal spells in the other colors in the same goddamn set. will the mechanics be dual-color or wedges to synergize with Tarkir?
>>93922003Probably running a bit of a gamut. Makes me wonder what mechanics Tarkir will have that synergise with current sets, because they've made some effort to broadly have synergies (Duskmourn synergises with WOE for example) in Standard. >>93922519shartifact failed because it cost money upfront + no daily freebies, it was meant to be exactly like MTGO but modern audiences are too used to their sloppy slop
>>93916305>>93916420Cards don't have abilities in other zones unless specified, there's a reason Cards and Permanents are separate game objects. If "when this card is drawn" was relevant to the situation you're describing, it's text would be more similar to that of a Miracle spell without the cost.
>>93922748would be kinda funny if you brought 2 legacy decks and storm killed her on turn 1 over and over with complex interactions
>>93922003Is this a silver bordered set?
>>93922765I made a very shitty boros mouse deck from what I had on hand I think even Valiant might be too complicated an ability to start someone with though
>>93922817thats probably the socially well adjusted real human bean thing to do but I can't stop giggling at the thought of someone's first interaction with magic being some over the top bullshit deck full of busted magic cards
>>93922749>how dare you question the sloppy worldbuilding, you must consooooooom
>>93922137Greek fire was used in 400ish BC shill. You can't even be consistent in your complaints about innistrad versus duskmourne.
>>93922890First, greek fire in 400 BC was absolutely not shot out from a contraption like how the art depicts. Second, do you really think having something used in 400 BC fits the gothic horror theme well?
>>93922137Cool Spiritpunk Tech
>>93922003Kaladesh cards will be temur and have energy as the main mechanicrest i don't know
Battle - RaceEnergyLiving Metal
>>93923005Energy isn't super likely. Race Battles is a MAYBE, but I doubt it. Living Metal is probably gonna show up on a couple cards, but not a major mechanic.
>>93923005Energy will be reworked into fuel
>>93923005>>93923024We'll get our first Crew 0 vehicle, along with a host of alternate crew costs
>>93922765This but unironically
>>93923041>>93923055>fuel artifact tokens can be sacrificed to crew vehicles
>>93923090>Brothers War Two: Even More Cards Based Around Tokens You'll Never UseOh noOh dear god no
NO MORE NEW ARTIFACT TOKENS GOD DAMMIT NO
>>93923055If a vehicle has crew 0, does that mean you still have to tap a creature?
Based
These ideas are too cools and flavorful,in reality we will just get some lame "souped-up" keyword thats just an alt cast cost for vehicles.Car3mana 3/3, crew 1souped-up: 5mana, Car enters with 2 +1/+1 counters on it and has haste
>>93923149I mean, yes, obviously. It still has to have A number of creatures tapped.
>>93921468>not acorn legalGod I had no idea how shit unfinity had been.>>93921504Duskmourne was made with future secret lairs in mind. I bet that they would make an SL of the movie "The shining" if they managed to get the rights to do so.>>93921570Yeah, it is mostly a reference to creep children in horror movies (like Village of the Damned, Firestarter, The Bad Seed , Who Can Kill a Child? , Children of the Corn, etc) but having the two twin girls can be a reference to the shining. >>93921580They have a movie quote....>>93922118nah, you know they will put vehicles, but there will be no good vehicles.
>>93923165I wan't back the reverse kicker that was prototype
>>93923203>They have a movie quote....—Anon, last words
>>93922467>Creepy Doll is 1900sThere are old folklore about possessed dolls etc. And how the fuck is a thematic inspiration for theme = technology of the setting? Are you retarded?>>93922507>flamethrowersBasically a cheating artifact that simulates a spell.Weird science is ok in victorian style worlds.>>93922939Man... Ghotic period had lots of tech, stop being autistic, Innistrad is not Earth in middle age.
>>93919374>we wanna do horror>but not too much horror This is literally the death knell for design. Whenever I hear a similar statement in an interview, I know it can only get worse.>we wanna make a sequel to horror franchise>well some literal onions golems might frown at some of the sexual elements and blood/guts so we'll tone those down >oh no the established audience that wanted those things left! and the nu-audience didn't show up! Quick make it even MORE sanitized for the sequel because we have to make up sales!
All WotC has to do is make Return to Tarkir about all the major dragons convening and discovering that they're gay so we get a full set about them going through the mating process.
don't forget we're returning to lorwyn too
>>93923364>a full set about them going through the mating processhope they all get dragon std
>>93923251>There are old folklore about possessed dolls etcWhat are they, anon? Where are the folklore tales about possessed porcelain dolls? Because those were created in the 1800s. The technology clashes with the thematic inspiration, that's the whole point. If you wrote a fantasy story about Christopher Columbus finding the New World and it had modern sniper rifles, people would rightfully complain. And that time difference there is smaller than the differences in what Innistrad has.>Basically a cheating artifact that simulates a spell. So a magic flamethrower is fine, but a magic TV is not? It's just a cheating artifact that simulates scrying. Magic guns are fine too, because it's just simulating a spell, right?>Innistrad is not Earth in middle age. Then why the fuck do so many cards have tech at a level of the middle ages? Why are there Victorian era people right next to castle walls with mounted crossbows? Saying they have lots of tech means nothing, controlling fire and making wheels is tech as much as rocket ships and curing polio.
>>93923500Homophobia doesn't exist in the MtG universe anon. STDs would violate that.
>>93923402
>>93923593Uh what about pozzed fags? Don't they deserve representation?
>>93923628The compromise will be that the STD does nothing to dragons but it turns other races into dragons so Sarkhan can finally live out his fantasy of getting SCALED.
/ccg/ is dead so fuck it posting it here
>>93923600I for one am excited for a return to Lorwyn I forgot what Lorwyn was and I'm not looking it up.
>>93923721looks fun
>>93923721Okay effect but I really don't want to try resolving more "random (permanent)" effects. They very quickly become a huge logistics issue.
>>93923721>sunless sea cardIf only Wizards was this based
>>93923721>>93923773Honestly at 2 mana do nothing 1/1, with 2 colors, you could just let it choose the target. It wouldn't be much stronger outside clown format, where it wouldn't matter much anyway because disgusting bullshit like Dockside exists there.
>>93923721Let's go
>>93923780It's any creature with a bounty counter just make some 1 drop bounty hunting pirates to curve out
Another one
>>93923897Needs flash.
>>93923897This is effectively a boardwipe. 4 mana is pretty undercosted for what it does, especially considering that Blue has a lot of cheap ways to return cards to its hand and you retain control of those creatures even if the enchantment is removed. Should add "for as long as you control ~" or "until ~ leaves the battlefield" at the end of the first line.
>>93923897This is better than Wrath at the same mv. If you won't compromise on the effect it would have to be like 8 mana.
>>93923972>>93923950>>93923924This better?
>>93923999Much better.
>>93923999>oh you're running Scute Swarm?>lmao
I don't think the wording is right, but it fits the meme better.
>>93924143Fuck, I realized it should've said reveal from hand.
