When it comes to upscaling old models to Primaris scale, is the only real change in the size of the legs and length of the torso? Or is there more to the scale change? I'd like to try and keep as much of the old models as I can while still making them a nice modern scale. Other than that the armies would have uniformity ranging from Boer Militia uniformity to Gardner's Horse forces uniformity. That isn't to say that I'm not using the previous Cadians as their gear would be the most common throughout the army if the lore tidbit I know of Cadians being the standard for guard armies is true. I have utilized madrobotminiatures and anvilindustry for the job of making irregulars. Pic related is my first batch of minis for such a project. Its been sluggish because of life reasons.

If you want to upscale SM bodies using older bits like torsos, I recommend using the HH minis instead. They’re bigger, but not so much that original firstborn stuff looks awkward on them.

I was just checking out my minis and realized how completely out of scale the weapons are. So comparing a weapon from my DKoK to the bolters or even to my SoB guns, they look like toys. Same with the Kroot gun, it's bigger than my Astra Militaria models. My ork kommando "daggers" are absolutely fucking massive as are their guns. If an AM or DKoK even finds a bolter on the ground, can he even use it? The more I look at it, the more silly it seems and I can't unsee it now, it's just all over the place. I have an airbrush and have a pile of GSC and IG models to paint. I figure the easiest approach for adding drawn cult symbols and other common markings would be to use a stencil as opposed to getting a gorillion of those transfer sheet decals. Spraying basecoats and varnishes smoothly is made trivial with an airbrush where you would have to spend much more effort and time to achieve the same finish when using an analog brush.
