Now imagine doing that in a deck where you almost never target your own creatures on board, but your opponents may want to use an aura on their creature (or already have), a single-target protection spell like Tamiyo's Safekeeping, etc and they end up just being unable to do those things. The Niko in question was the one who targets to remove one of his own creatures to turn all of his shards into it until end of turn, but once it was completely disabled, it felt amazing.

Right as I was going for a finisher, I revived my Herald of Hoofbeats so I could kill the Glacial Chasm player during the only turn he was ever not going to have one out, but the Rendmaw player blew it up during the Declare Attackers step to stop me from winning that turn since I was killing both of them. Ended up being unable to get through Chasm, so I came in "second". Honestly, everyone having goaded 2/2 crows that had Protection from Black was really neat too.

Plus i wanted to to try and dip into red and Saskia seemed like a decent way to speed up the gameplan.Like you mentioned, with Earnest Fellowship the infecters get both protection and evasion, and Atraxa might actually stick around so it could be worth the try.
