Dm mentioned that an upcoming monster will "share hit points with the group". How are we supposed to kill it without dying?
>>94429070Better question is how he's going to stop you from hurting yourselves to defeat it!
>>94429070Monster starts with HP based on the party's current total? Just make sure everyone in the party is constantly on the verge of dying in case you run into the monster and it should be a cakewalk.
>>94429070instant-kill attacks, depending on the system, don't touch HP at all. Alternatively, if you have some way to lobotomize it or drain its mental stats, you might be able to render it braindead without killing its body. Depending on how the shared-HP works, maybe it has an effective range, at which point teleporting it into space or somewhere very far away will cause it to no longer link HP with you. Overall though not enough info, you'd need to do some research on the exact mechanics, since HP isn't even a real thing in-character.
>>94429070What system, unironically? 2nd and 3rd have save or die but I have no idea what the fuck you're doing.
>>94429070Temporary HP isn't HP. Just cast Heroism or whatever system-appropriate spell gives you 'fake HP' and you'll outlive the monster.
>>94429070Well, this is the one thread where "what system" is an actual important question lmao. Can't you find a way to incapacitate it without actually lower its hit points?
>>94429070>no womb hitboxweak
>>94429483I'll critically hit your womb.
>>94429070kill it via a game mechanic that doesn't involve hit points. Probably tell us what the fuck game you're playing if you actually want help finding one.
>>94429070What game?
>>94429483Modern females don't have wombs.
>>94430188Neither do you have penis.
>>94429070Restrain the monster. Grapple it, tie it up and just drug it.
>>94429573You are gay now
>>94429070If it mirrors just HP total and not exact specific injuries, dismemberment might be the way to go. You'll easily earn both you victory and complementary fucknugget.
>>94429070You're not supposed to kill it, you're meant to disable it without affecting its HP.
>>94429070Strangle it, drown it, petrify it, sleep/paralyze it then bind it, trap it in a pit, use anything that doesn't target hp if the hp sharing includes sharing damage and not just bloating its hp. You could also find the monster, attack it only with a familiar/pet/hireling without the rest being discovered so it shares only the pet hp, snipe the monster with an overkill attack for good measure. But I expect the monster will have its own hp apart from the party bonus, so who fucking knows.
Bind it, lock it inside a dungeon, don't tell anyone where you left it, kill anyone that knows about it. That may include yourself.
>>94430597Now? I'm pretty sure I've been at least a little gay since Scoutmaster Bob taught me how to play D&D in1991.
Don't kill, just seal it away.
>>94429070Befriend it under the threat of mutually assured destruction.Maybe you guys share more than just HP.
>>94429070betray the group, now you aren't in the group, and kill the others
>>94429070How is it supposed to kill the party without dying?
>>94429070
>>94429070It's a monster that will act as an ally
>>94429070How does it share your hit points? Why?
>>94435274It's probably some kind of mimic demon that isn't afraid to die, but can use the linked lifeforce as a bargaining chip to turn the party to its evil ends.>captcha RNOSK
>>94429070Explain the situation to the monster and hope it agrees to a truce.
>>94438199Ok, now answer why. Why did it choose the players rather than anyone else in the world?
