>>94430273>metallic schemes on a large model look baNot necessarily true but yeah you pretty much have to do some weathering to make them more interesting, there's a reason why scale modelers go so heavy on that. Sponge some chpping near edges, add oil/grime near vents/exhausts and maybe some rust if you feel like going that way. In all honesty though I myself enjoy the look of clean metallic paints so if you like it the way it is I wouldn't change it just to please someone else

What is the sweet spot for base sizes in your opinion? How much breathing room do you want around your minis? I've been looking at a few different sizes here for this reaper dragon and all of them kind of make sense if you take the wingspan into account, but the long oval seems slightly too big imo and the 60mm is where it starts to look cramped.I don't have any 90mm or 80mm, but those might look nice as well. I've seen that there are 90mm oval bases these days, so I could try out as well, but I'd have to order those sizes first. I myself like the footprint to account for the wings as well I think. On a somewhat amusing side-note Reaper sells this as a large dragon which in DnD terms means it should fit on a 2x2 square grid, i.e. 50mm base max and it's one of the medium sized dragons they sell. The 75mm would make this huge (3x3 squares) and 100mm base (4x4 squares) would already put this into the realm of a gargantuan dragon as per the rules, which is the biggest creature size possible. The 120x92mm is the size that goes under the GW Mesbg dragons, that's why I tried that out here for comparison. How do you guys pick and choose for minis that don't come with a suggested base size?

Not sure if going from scales straight into farsight after painting a single smurf was the best idea...Having a lot of fun, but the precision required is higher thans with scales which surprises me. The oftentimes smaller details in an already generally smaller model and with less room for errors due to all the weird feonetry is hard

>>94431343This reninds ne of what bothers me mkst about this nodel, not a remark on your work, but on the model design. Why in godsname did they decide to make the two parts of the jet in such a way that the joint runs along the intake vent? There isn't even a way to fix it because you can't really stick spruegoo (or equivalent) into there without mucking up the piece, and even if you did manage, you can't really reach it to sand it down for a nice finish. Iirc not even on the boxart did they work away that seam.

>>94431520Picrel, very much wip. Right now I get 15-20 minute paint sessions here and there due to business in life, so it is slow going.>>94431540It really bothered me as well, and I considered filling it with plastic cement and then sanding it, but like you say, the intake is basically impossible to do without that becoming a project in and of itself. It would take hours of sanding down with a toothpick sized bit of sanding materiak, and any fuck up during that process would take even longer to correct. So I decided to leave it as is. The best option would be to simply cut it out entirely and replace with a selfmade mold.>>94431549I mean, I don't think it looks shit, I am really pleased with it so far in fact. I was just remarking on a difference between scales and minis that took me by surprise. It sometimes feels that small details are made almost impossible to get to, e.g. the area between the "crotch" and the upper leg, the hip joint if you will, is high impossible to paint, the area around is is equally hard to tape of, I am more or stippling on the metal paint taking great effort to not nick the surrounding parts I want to keep red. It is something you find a lot less of in scales IMO, parts are either much easier to access or they are much easier to MAKE accessible. My 2ct blogpost take on it anyway.
>>94431343Ya, I wouldn't call farsight beginner friendly AT ALL, if anything it is one of the more advanced/harder models of the GW catalogue, in part because it is quite a "clean" model so mistakes will stick out like a sore thumb, and in part because it is (I feel) overengineered with too many fiddly bits, we are starting to see more and more if it as CAD gets better. It may look nice at zoom factor 20 in blender, but it doesn't always translate we'll as a mini

So...what are the essentials to start out with oils? Just some tubes, white spirits, and a couple of brushes? For colors, should I just start with some black and brown and try out washes, or jump in?
>>94430955>>94430962For these and knuckles they get a very light sanding stick then plastic cement in the direction of the coils to melt the rest and smooth it back out.
>>94431227I bought that exact set and I tossed them in the trash after 2 minutes. Just get some large decent red sable brush to be your workhorse.

>>94432110Oh, then no. Qtips maybe, or the tiny makeup sponges on sticks you can buy in bulk are also good.

>>94432123Yeah, I was just checking online, I remembered about them after posting. How are brands? Should I start out cheap to get a hang of it, or go all in with some nice stuff? I fear that getting the cheap, subpar stuff at first might then force me to throw out most of it when I upgrade, is that the case? Or is even the cheap stuff usable?
Painting a felgor ravagers kill team. Only have one painted, still need to base it. Zenithal sprayed, but I’m wondering if I should be zenithal drybushing instead of spraying, I feel like I’m not seeing enough of the contrast from the contrast paints, at least on the fur. Otherwise I’m using these guys as a testbed for skin tone contrasts and contrasts over different base coats, and mixing colors. Flesh tearer red mixed with screaming bell makes a nice metallic red
>>94431075Didn't have much stuff this year to add that was home made, so went double my usual budget.
>>94429259Box wrapped up and packed, however, much to my annoyance is too heavy for my scales, meaning I might need to pack it in post, which means...gonna take a bit longer to get it ready to be sent out.
>>94432177Cheapest artist grade oil paints like winsor & newton is fine, especially for darker colors. Student grade paints tend to have weaker pigmentation and the pigments arent ground as well, so you get little chunks of pigment in the paint. The little chunks can rip your paint or smear, so for $2 a tube more you can ignore the problem entirely. Colors like ivory black, burnt umber (desaturated brown), van dyke brown (little more saturated and warmer), dioxizine purple, or indigo all make good oil washes depending on what colors you want. I'd start with a black and one of the browns, they should also be easy to find given they are common colors. I never liked qtips and found them harsh, I prefer bulk makeup sponges (foam wedges). Each wedge gets cut into 5 or 6 little squares or rectangles for easier getting into small spots. For brushes I prefer white taklon synthetic that you use for watercolors, softer than golden taklon with less snap for softer corners and less "scraping" the wet oil.
>>94432232So synthetics are better for oils?
>>94432256The white spirit is really harsh on natural hair brushes, so you can use natural hair but be prepared for them to not last as long or need some extra TLC. If you get more into painting with oils then an old natural hair brush is fabulous as a blending brush. Something like an old round that doesnt hold a good tip anymore or a filbert that is slightly splayed are really nice for blending. Another brush that is nice for oils is a liner brush, size 1 with a good tip short or medium length for pinwashing.
>>94432284Ok, thanks.
40kg seems more concerned about the gameplay atm so I'll ask here.Would this scheme applied to a whole Chaos Knights army look absolutely fucking awesome and at the same time good on the tabletop as a unit?Is it too gimmicky across an entire army?
>>94432388It may be me, but works like that usually catch my eye and make me say "oh, neat", but then I get bored of looking at it soon after. I imagine that a whole force of models painted all in the same way may be the same. It's like you have a whole army made of singular spots that clash against each other to get your eye's attention, and you end up filtering them out completely. Like ads.Do remember that the juggernaut is just the mount to the real character on top of it.
>>94432388What, the cooling magma look? It would look great on a handful of CKs, maybe a Rampager and some Karnivore buddies but it'd get old across an entire army.

>>94431969>It's a more graphical version of that>with a ton of extra shit piled on top.So, IRC with two drawbacks?
>>94431239These Synthetic brushes are for basecoating, washing, metallic shit, of course they will be hooked after a few times. You don't need sharp point for basecoating
>>94430273On that color. 50:50 nuln agrax wash then stipple it in with a large round brush.
>>94432464>I mentally block out riderThat's probably because he doesn't pop enough, even in opposition to the juggernaut that is fairly plain outside of the hot spots (pun partially intended). A more saturated red would have been better maybe, but I see what the tried to do with the palette.
>>94430944Depends on how chopped up the model is. Good engineering can mean mold lines only on edges or straight parts of the model, but may mean more assembly. Kingdom Death is quite good about this if you look at their sprues. You do have to align the mold plates somewhere, so there will always be a line. There's really no excuse for what GW is doing now though, its mostly laziness, and them trying for minimal assembly required. A lot of their snap-together stuff still needs to be glued anyway and has gaps in weird places.
>>94432487It seems that's a sacrifice you have to make, the darker and duller the miniature the better the glow.
>>94432502The push fit stuff requires you to cut the pegs down to avoid those gaps which kind of defeats the point of making an easy to assemble model look good

>>94431865Ya, if I could it would have been in more subs, but then I'd have had to drill holes to glue paperclips in to hold them by and I wasn't up to that. For edge highlight I am not sure how to tackle that on a model like this. I considered leaving the edges as is, I have considered going in with a bright red to make them pop comic bookish, and I have considered going the route of weathering (so making the alumium undercoat show through with a focus on edges and corners). Haven't decided yet, so any input is welcome. I'll be busy finishing the bright aluminium baselayers for a while anyway.
>>94431528That might be me. If you're my gifter from last year it was amazing, I still need to paint what you sent but I'll be posting here when I do.

>>94432064Check out some scalies on youtube (WW2 planes nearly all get SLAPPED with oil). Then get, if you want to go with the cool kids, Abteilung. If you want to primarily weather, blacks, browns, yellows and greens. If you want to go minimal, black and burnt umber.A big gallon jug of spirits for oil paints (called different things around the world).A metal cup/palette for easy clean upSome brushes dedicated to oils (get a finetipped one so you can be precise with the initial application, oils isn't only about using old brushes to feather with)Personally, and this is the biggest barrier to entry, I wouldn't bother unless you have an airbrush. You generally want to have a highgloss before you oil weather and then another varnish (which depends on the look you want) to seal in the oil.
>>94430664They are just unpainted for now, after a zenithal highlight with mephiston red>>94432521yes because i want the Green in all the dark parts of the model. Might take more time this way but it will look way better.

>>94432064As usual I'll link some James Wappel vids, he does long form oil painting stuff on twitch and reuploads to youtube. He is a fantastic repository of knowledge but its given in such a meandering way that it can be a little hard to follow him. He'll be talking about a movie he watched the night before and in the blink of an eye do some black magic blending making you rewind a couple times to see what he did. He uses a lot of different paint colors but there's no need to match one for one, getting a basic starter set and messing around with it is a good first step. Oils have their own quirks that are different from acrylics, so its just learning a new approach. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A00M2kduKE4&list=PLAj7SgXbhwS_KFyF9yAzVcCPavrU_T6ls&index=153https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXUhqvXjEj8&list=PLAj7SgXbhwS_KFyF9yAzVcCPavrU_T6ls&index=112https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_TVuft3sGg&list=PLAj7SgXbhwS_KFyF9yAzVcCPavrU_T6ls&t=1shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaoNb4nb1Vo&list=PLAj7SgXbhwS_KFyF9yAzVcCPavrU_T6ls&t=1shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hom7dSz4siw&list=PLAj7SgXbhwS_KFyF9yAzVcCPavrU_T6ls&index=30https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFJO869Y_Dk&list=PLAj7SgXbhwS_KFyF9yAzVcCPavrU_T6ls&t=2shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxwY_8CsclI&list=PLAj7SgXbhwS_KFyF9yAzVcCPavrU_T6ls&t=1s

I don't paint, but sometimes I pop in here to criticise someone else to provoke a reaction. That is how I get my dose of human interaction. I do the same elsewhere as well.

>watch an artis opus video on drybrushing >get intrigued by the brushes he sells>check out the basic 4 brush set>140 AUDFucking christ alive. Are there brushes out there that are similar to the ones he sells in those wooden boxsets that don't cost a fortune?

>>94432916
>>94431868Ok.What's a good ratio of pva:water?
>>94432754As long as you have a good mix of colors and (more importantly in my opinion) a mix of opaque/semi opaques with transparents and semi transparents you're good to go.https://www.dickblick.com/products/winsor-newton-artists-oil-colors/?item=00461-1010&This is the set that I first started with a grabbed a few other colors to supplement it, this will give you some good workhorse colors (ivory black, titanium white, yellow ochre, burnt umber, indian red) that you can build off of depending on what you want to paint. Other good workhorse colors are zinc white (semiopaque white for mixing, titanium white can get real chalky when mixing), lamp black (opaque black), terra rosa (opaque orange red, great starting point for rust or skin tones), magenta, dioxizine purple (desaturated) or madder purple (more saturated and warmer), and van dyke brown (warmer brown). I would honestly start as cheap as possible since oils are a different approach and some people don't enjoy the process. It takes a couple days for the paint to fully dry and maybe a week before you can seal with varnish, and you'll need to let paint sit for a little bit before you blend it in. Some people don't like the waiting time but it works great for me with my fucked up back and hip. If I get a muscle spasm and need to stop and stretch I can put the model down for a bit or pick it up the next day and can still work with the paint. I also keep my oil palette in the freezer between sessions, opaques can last for a month - 1.5 months and I've had transparents be fine for 2 months in the freezer if sealed well. I can mix custom colors and have them usable for the entire project.
>>94432913Small eyeshadow brush, the went n' wild brand is sold in lots of grocery stores for $1 - $2 a brush. The small size is perfect for guys with the large brush for vehicles. Since they're so cheap you don't feel bad about abusing the fuck out of them.
>>94431227Nah I’ve bought those, they’re fucking shit. Spend $30 and get picrel along with 1-2 really good brushes. They’re workhorse brushes that are actually usable, and you get enough of them that you don’t have to be too upset about ruining one
>>94432913I am quite sure they just use rosemary&co with their own brand stamped onto it, stuck into a box and then upmarked by x2 the price.
>>94432862Oh don't worry, we know. I'm fairly sure I could even point some of your posts if I was autistic enough to dig through the archive. So you're not very schrewd if that's what you believed.>>94432913Don't fucking buy that set it's an absolute scam. If you want a "premium" set get the rosemary and co ones but I shit you not a soft bristled make up blender brush will work better than either of those.
>>94432856Yeah, the gun is too dark, it's sucking up all the attention.
>>94432913Literally any 10 for $10 makeup brush set will do.

>>94433288I mean he's probably the best guy to learn from when it comes to drybrushing. AO are massively overpriced though. People say they're the same as rosemary and co but that's not entirely true. Might be made in the same place or whatever but the actual rosemary brushes have a fuller belly and longer bristles so they're actually superior to AO.
>>94433304ELF small eyeshadow round at target is $2. It's great for dry brushing.
>>94429387Yooo that's dope
>>94429418New year's resolution 2025
>>94431016I'd say find your average dude, keep the rim of the base just on the inside of his arm span (not including weapons), and then keep the same general ratio for the bigger models. Obviously, this won't work for stuff like that dragon or any vehicles (which have substantially more/less reach by comparison). I know people care about game balance and all that when it comes to base sizes, but aesthetics always seemed more important to me.
>>94429985I would spray varnish before the webs, add a bit more goop around the holes (I'd say green) and when you're putting the webs on, add a bit more on the left side and maybe some broken strands.10/10 looks like the start of a horror movie tho
>>94432856The gun kinda seems like it's stolen, doesn't fit the scheme very well, since it's dark purple contrasting against a brighter white/teal combo. Certain colors will always work, like black and white, but if you're combining two widely different colors like this, they should still be a similar level of brightness/saturation, imo. If you did make the gun a lighter purple as the base, or even made it actually black, I'm sure it'd look fine.
>>94430273It works for a "very clean" look or like other have suggested, do some weathering with sponges. If you still want a clean look without weathering, mixing in a brighter/lighter metallic paint like gold or silver with your base metal works really well as you apply it like a volumetric highlight, especially if it's finished with a wash
Does anyone have experience using those cheap airbrushes that aren’t hooked up to a compressor?I’ve got some vehicles I’ll have to paint up and I’m half tempted to buy one so I can give them just a quick basecoat and simple layer highlights. I’ve heard they’re “not great” but having no experience with airbrushing I’m not sure if that means “yeah they aren’t good for a longtime thing” or if it means “these are a scam don’t use them”.
>>94433479Compressor is only 50 bucks for a good one.
>>94433479Yeah, some assholes got the bright idea to bring them into our LGS and spray them next to the tables, with no overspray guard, while people were playing, without warning anyone. This has happened multiple times now. Don't be like them.If you're not going to be traveling with it, just get a small compressor, it's not going to cost much more and will be easier to use.
Almost done with this guy, just need to add a bonefish to the girdle plate, maybe a black star to the back of the cloak, and redo the fur.I'm thinking of doing a leopard print with a dark purple wash, and the fur as well. What do you guys think about the color, would it work?
Also I'm trying g to decide the armor color for this guy. Thinking teal, with fuschia colored ripped cloth

>>94433799stop using contrasts/speedpaints
>>94433799Let the first layer dry before you paint another.
>>94433822I'm not. I'm trying to thin citadel layer paints and the coverage is just never good, I can do super thin glazes in a million layers and they're okay as long as I let them dry completely between layers, but layering slightly thicker paint is never as clean as I want it to be and idk what I'm doing wrong in order to fix it.
>>94433652Thanks!
sisters done. not sure if im going to finish the squad or paint sacresants for a change next
>>94433875Well those "layer" paints are supposed to be put over their corresponding "base" paints for optimal coverage. If you put them directly over a primer you may run into issues.
>>94431075Not quite finished yet, but it's probably around $150 before any shipping. I've been blessed in recent years and just want to share that with some lucky Anon.He sure didn't make it easy, though. Would rather someone put too much on the wishlist rather than not enough. I can only hope he likes what I picked and has a Merry Christmas.
>>94431075about $170 - not including me shipping it to them, or shipping the stuff to me initially - but I also ordered stuff for me in those orders so it's not really fair to include in the cost.
>>94433799>>94433875nobody can really diagnose the problem without looking at the mini or what you are doing.>>94433875>I can do super thin glazes in a million layers and they're okay as long as I let them dry completely between layersthis is how you are supposed to paint a miniature.>but layering slightly thicker paint is never as clean as I want it to be and idk what I'm doing wrong in order to fix it.Literally don't do thick coats. Doing thick coats is what is wrong. That is the problem. If the paints you have do not have sufficient coverage for what you are trying to do you could try a different approach (prime a color that helps you out with coverage or do another base color first) or try paint from a different manufacturer (similar colors might use different pigments or pigment densities or mixtures, so opacity can vary).
>>94433875You fell for the citadel meme paints by the sound of it, where they mess with pigments and medium so the paint can do one thing very well and all the other things poorly. Layer paints are for adding layers, not for base paint, not for painting over other colours, not for shading, not for contrasting etc.. If I've uktrasmurfs you can use the layer range of blue paints to add depth to the blue baselayer. You can't, however, take a red layer paint and use it to make one of the ultrasmurfs shoulder red, the coverage will be shit.
>>94432745NGL, I don't like any of those, I think they look messy and have 0 colour coordination.

>>94436307What's the kit that takes 1.5 hours to do 1 guy
>>94436314It's Perry Afghans, I'm just a slow painter. When I get the feel for a kit I can go faster but I've never been good at speed. I have been getting better the more I paint if nothing else.

>>94431151Squidmar is objectively a very good painter but his channel is click bait and maximizing profits, very shallow. Midwinter is annoying as hell and there's something off about him, just a veneer of face niceness about him. Seems like a smug cunt. Same thing with Goobertown, I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if he had bodies hidden on his basement. Miscast I can stomach just about. >>94436839Thanks. He's a print of a Shambler from Quake. Khezu is my favorite MH monster, though.>>94436929Dangerously creamy. Well done!
>>94436929Wow, very nice contrast on them.Might try a light red glaze to bring them back closer to red but the orange contrasts well with the blue power weapons and cool black armor.
I did a third head practice. I unironically think it's worse than the first one, I think I didn't do enough of the midtone and the creases are too dark on the front of the face. but I'm trying not to spend more than about an hour on any of these so I'll just try and do better next time. That said - how autistic am I being about this? I included a series of shrunk/resized images that are a bit more realistic in terms of how they would ever look to the eye even close up. I'm not sure how harshly I should judge my blending and shit on a camera where I can zoom in so far I can see the decal printer resolution start to get jaggy. Not to say there isn't room to improve, but if you zoom in far enough you'll always find something to complain about.
>>94437068These look really good to me, though the Tau is a bit monochromatic and the nose on the 3rd one is too segmented.I'd say you're being autistic unless you are trying to go to a competition level.

It works well enough for the sides and back of the head, but it looks a bit too segmented as anon said.

>>94437068That's a very cool-looking Tau head. What colors did you use?
>>94437723To be honest, I prefer steel and iron to magent for model transport, magnet on magnet often is much much weaker hold then magent on metal.
>>94437702magnetic sheets are stripes of n/s poles close together for strenght, that's why they stick to eachother and 'jump' if you slide one over another, also why a magnet can stick to it no mather the sidepic related is the one on my printer with a magnetic ciewing film

Using WHF bits to slowly build my spider themed CSM army.
>>94437866Neat, have you considered finishing paper or something to smooth out those plates?
>>94437327ye they look proper disgusting
>Get box for mini storage>One is slightly too big for the box>Next biggest available is triple the depth I needFuck me I guess
>>94437768I just go around every piece following the mouldline to make sure I don't miss anything
What's the better way to paint a lightning patter?White outline and paint over it with bright colour or build up over couple of layers?
Tips on putting nonDKoK heads on this body? Any easy way outside of just cutting and sanding 60 dudes?
Does anyone have any experience painting tiny Iron Warriors, struggling to get a simple scheme that makes them stand out. Tried a gunmetal primer as well but think I'll go back to black and undercoat a dirty metallic on.
>>94438061thats a touching story anon i hope you can keep us updated lmao
Does anyone know where i can get some decent ruin bits? I want to base my Parhfinders in some jungle ruins but i just cant find anything decent
>>94438061I dont know what youre looking for exactly but i recently bought 2 acrylic cases from revenant miniatures and besides the missing locking mechanism (or lack thereof) and the fact that his stacking screws are still out of stock I’m pretty happy with them
>>94437299Cute. The beer looks great.
>>944381983D print?
>>94438198For basing single minis? Lizardmen bits for decoration, carve some sprues in rough stone brick shapes. For something bigger you can look at aquarium ruins.
>>94438273Thanks, it's actually the snow gel by AK with a slight touch of orange.
>>94436929This looks realy fucking sick. The way the cape is done, the contrast with the swords. holy shit, you could have done a sloppy job on the main armor panels and nobody would notice or care. Well done you.
If I want to give interesting bases for sci-fi commando team that mainly operate in aquatic environments, what other options I have than artificial metal platforms?
>>94438746You mean like underwater? Rocks and sand, but they might come off as beaches, so you can try with coral. No idea how you could pull if off without sculpting. Maybe some aos sea elves bits.
>>94438761Not exactly underwater but I simply wanted to avoid generic bases that would fit anyone and do something that would make someone looking at one think "yea, these guys are from ocean planet". Troops in question are literally named "amphibian intervention team".As for coral, I think that dried up wine/grape stalks or something sponge-like could work as replacement, however.
>>94438804Just put them on a beach, right? Driftwood, seashells, rocks, seaweed.. on a sand base. You can show the edge of the ocean on a couple bases if you wanna get fancy.
>>94437327These are sick as hell
>>94438746Metal platforms which are rusty, and also covered in detritus like seaweed and shells?
>>94438828>>94438842Alright, thanks for suggestions.
>>94437327I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
>>94439009>proceeds to be sure without the nuking really doing anything
I've done the suboptimal thing and gone with a Neptune 3 for wargaming printing. I was looking at resin printers but the extra cost and post processing required was probably outside of my effort range (I'm far from a active wargamer).I'm mainly interested in printing things for Gamma Wolves, which has a larger scale than most miniature wargames. Does anyone have any tips or good resources to start with for printing models and terrain with a filament printer, or even just ultra beginner friendly process guides?
>>94432601>>94432618you can also use a hose with it, still works fine
Slowly getting vizzik done, anything I should do to jazz up the scarf? I'm trying to keep it a pope theme
>>94439131You could try to do some metallic freehand similar to this and replace the christian symbolism with skaven runes
>>94439131>>94439187Just do this, but with metallics. Easy.
>>94437235>>94437749Just night lords blue, calgar blue, and blue horror. And a little bit of a wash step with leviadon blue.If I'm feeling up to it I might go pick up some sisters to add them into the head practice rotation. Making those heads look good is going to be the true test of skill.
>>94439233Thanks anon, appreciate it!
>>94439225Holy fuck.
Ok I've been trying out glazes and it's really cool compared to just layering more opaque colors, if time consuming, but what I don't get is: if I can have smooth transitions by glazing, why and in what situations should I wet blend? Seems like a whole lot of additional trouble for similar results.
>>94439347It's theoretically way faster since you're just putting down two colors wet at the same time, getting the look you want and then waiting for it all to dry once instead of doing many thin layers and waiting for each to dry individually.
>>94437299Thanksgiving bringing everyone together.
>>94436619>>94436938that's a fantastic sculpt of this guy. somehow the zombies were the enemies that scared me the most as a kid, I just found these guys adorable.

>>94438145It'll be greenstuff and cutting/sanding work for each guy. The head ends at the rim of the helmet, I wanted to trim the sides down on mine but there really isn't anywhere to trim without leaving a big gap.
>>94439439Somewhere around here I also have Sarah Kaiser's Thanksgiving print from when she came to the Citadel a few years ago.

What colors do I add to red shadows to make them more interesting? Blue, purple?
>>94438005>>94439009>>94438835Thanks guys. Like I said previously in the thread, I made them specifically for the spider nest scenario in rangers of shadow deep but I wanted them to be modular enough that I could use them on basically any table, fantasy or sci-fi. I was definitely thinking of aliens
>>94439596You already asked this and I already gave you a detailed answer.
>>94439596depends on what other colors you're using and if you want to lean warm or cold
>>94439627Wtf, did I? I remember asking about turquoise shadows some time ago but maybe it's Alzheimers kicking in at this point, jesus christ
>>94439688I mean, unless you're a different guy with the exact same question and phrasing. Anyway, just go with purple.
>>94438061what kind of box
>>94439454Yeah the zombies scared me too. I think it's the noises they make. Still not as bad as the screaming Daggerfall skeletons.
>>94439770Where to actually get that kind of box or just that kind of sponge? I only saw something similar in photography store and of course, it would cost arm and leg.
USPS says SS package was delivered 3 days ago, hope GP of Steyning actually picked it up.
>>94437904I'll give that a look. I don't mind the rough texture, though, since it might actually look like the guys tried to pry off their old insignia, you know?Hopefully I can find some space bits to put on there. Maybe have spiders crawling around....I could do a whole Thousand Sons bit, but the army is filled with spiders...
>>94440119NAYRT, feldherr or battlefoam are the "name brands"
Whats a decent and affordable airbrush (+compressor)? i’m starting to go insane trying to basecoat over black
>>94438607Yeah i’m going to try out my dad’s printer tomorrow, dont know how it will handle detail though>>94438626yeah, single minis - guess i’ll try to get my hands on some lizardmen bits.I’ll give the sprue bricks a try too
Wanting to do some ruined asphault and rubble for my bases, what thickness is about the right scale? Unfortunately I don't have anywhere nearby to go in person to look so I'll need to order.
>>94440614Master g233 airbrush is a great workhorse learning airbrush. Comes with 3 needle/nozzle sizes and uses standard fittings, somewhere around $30 - $40.
>>94440793Irl, the thiccness of asphalt on roads is usually around 3-4 in.
>>94440814>>94440793I am not a clever man, I meant to ask about what thickness of cork sheet should I get lol.
>>94440835Well, I'm not a clever man either, doing the math is beyond me. Sorry, anon.
>>94440119this one is from aliexpress, comes as is with the precut foam, I paid less than 10€
>>94439562>Sarah Kaiser's Thanksgiving printThis one.New thread:>>94441499>>94441499>>94441499
>>94440814>>94440835that would be ~2mm thickness. Should be easy enough to find. You can sometimes find thicknesses like that in hobby/crafting and one dollar stores. If you apply some wallfiller to the cork and let it dry you can introduce some gnarly looking cracks. To widen them up and weather the road so to speak you just need a toothbrush or wirebrush.godspeed, anon.
>>94441897Hugs and kisses friend, thank you kindly.
>>94440808This was my first airbrush, I was pretty rough on it but it was great for priming and some detail work. Have a badger now for detail but would highly recommend those master brand ones for beginners.
>>94432388I think different colors would be best for a varied look.Blue, green, red, yellow, purple.Centered around each chaos God and their color. If it’s a straight khorne army it would be that red which is great for leaders but would be tiring for the whole army.
