Why would a dwarf god get greater demons?
Griminir doesn't even have that and his essence is splattered all over the world
>>
>>96874071
I think it'd be cool if they had metal plates seared onto their flesh, maybe other mechanical doodads effectively impaled into their bulky bull demon bodies. Like if Hashut himself branded the daemons as his property rather than treat them as his subordinates, to show that although a god leaning towards chaos, he's not quite a "chaos god".
>>
>>96874097
Yes. It's also literally just a one-off celebratory alt sculpt of an existing kit where they do have coats and hats.
>>

>>96874071
If they're bipedal, then we're gonna have an issue because at that point they're just gonna be minotaurs.
more feral/primitive interpretations would probably just encroach on lammasu territory.

I guess if we run with his theme of "being the one true ancestor god" he could get something like a manticore that perverts the symbols of all the other "fake" ancestor gods. I dunno how that can be done without it looking like a conquest model though, probably too abstract for gw to really do.
>>
>>96874104
>Why would a dwarf god get greater demons?

helsmiths already have half bull chaos mutants, clearly hashut is not playing by the same rules as the other dwarven gods
>>
>>96874071
Boring answer is something like picrel, a mini hashut, like the guo is to nurgle.
If we wanna come up with some other interesting stuff maybe worth looking into some sumerian/babylonian depictions of demons and monsters like tiamat and hunbaba

i'd like to see something like this, a big avatar style dwarven demon, bull horns but not a minotaur, closer to an oni

because ultimately hashut is not a raw chaos god, he's an ancestor god turned chaos god like the GHR, he's essentially a racial embodiment, so he should look very dwarven. i think just making it a giant bull/minotaur would be a bit of a waste. i could see a centaur i guess, but i'd rather just get a big dude i think, kinda like how vizzik skour or the verminlords are essentially just very large and ornate grey seers, hashuts greater daemon should be a very large and ornate daemonsmith

>>96874071
I think they should take a few cues from the Nighthaunt range. Those models are designed to look hollow and weightless, to convey their ethereal nature. I think that'd work to help differentiate daemons from the machines and flesh-and-blood creatures of the range. They could be fluffed as manifesting as something half-baked, incomplete, not fully formed, to drive home that despite Hashut's divinity he isn't a big Chaos god like the others.
>>
>>96874211
>Griminir doesn't even have that and his essence is splattered all over the world
Fair point. But Fyreslayers absolutely should have djinn-like volcano spirits on their side.
>>
>>96874282
>ancestor god turned chaos god like the GHR
I think it's safe to say at this point that the Skavor lore isn't canon and that the dwarfs in Fantasy were simply wrong in their theory. The recent-ish WD specifically separates Hashut and the GHR by saying that the former is an ascended mortal and the latter isn't.
(Personally, it's still canon to me...)
>>
As far as I understand, the Halloween version of Warhammer is Geheimnisnacht, or am I wrong?
>>
>>96874304
AND WHAT IS THIS, A NEW MINIATURE FOR THE CITIES OF SIGMAR?
>>
>>96874373
Basically. Although IIRC it's not perfectly seasonally tied since its occurrence depends on the position of the moons, and those can be a little whimsy. There's also Hexensnacht which is referenced less frequently but is used in more or less the same way for narrative purposes.

Not a thing in AoS as far as I know. From what's been written of the Azyrite calendar it doesn't have anything corresponding to Halloween, at least not that's also widely recognized.

>>
>>96874071
>>96874223
I imagine something like this though obviously a bit more bull-like. Very ornately babylonian. Also to connect with hashut's theme of domination and tyranny should probably be chained to some extent, maybe have the horns sown off, something to really hammer home that they're still pawns of hashut. He doesn't strike me as the type to let his little fragments of self get any silly ideas. They should absolutely detest this of course, and constantly try to "climb the ladder" by binding as much followers to themself in order to one day break their own chains, kind of like urak taar. They should also just kind of have an aura of general hatred and hunger for power.

While we're on the topic, what about daemonic steeds, beasts, and lesser daemons? I don't know if it really fits with hashut to have them but it's fun to spitball.

I'm wishing on a star that whatever comes next for CoS reconstructs some of the non-Freeguild character of the faction.
>>
>>96874591
if I had to invent fluff for it, I'd say the most common types of cogforts are built around a metalith, so the legs are mainly a way for it to crawl forward, rather than something that has to mechanically support the whole thing, especially because the biggest problem with such ideas isn't the difficulty to power it or to keep it up, but to not have it sink into the first patch of soft ground or muddy area.
>>
>>96874604
I'm wishing for that to not happen, so your wish is nullified

All of the warcry releases with beasts makes me so mad they somehow didn't think to make a Moulder unit with packmasters and wolf rats
>>
Man the skill ceiling on Nighthaunt is a lot lower than I thought it would be. Even looking at the Golden Demon winners for the faction I'm not blown away by it in terms of painting quality and technical skill. It's really the composition and non-Nighthaunt parts that carry them. A pure sheet ghost look really is holding the faction back aesthetically.

>A pure sheet ghost look really is holding the faction back aesthetically.
If gw were smart they'd shove angels in there. It'd still be simple to paint, and it fits in aesthetically with ghosts while also being something different.
>>
>>96874743
I'm deeply curious about what james is going to add to the faction next time they get a release that isn't just another admittedly really cool pity hero. They must be out of different ways to sheet a ghost by now.
>>
>>96874719
>A pure sheet ghost look really is holding the faction back aesthetically.
Multiple aesthetics is what you give to actual factions, nighthaunts aren't an actual faction, they're closer to kruleboys and gitmobs and darkoath.
They're a subrange of the actual faction: gravelords.
>>
Nighthaunt should get a poltergeist that looks like a vague swirl of mist manipulating a bunch of swords and shields
Like a cross between the quicksilver swords spell and the Castlevania ruler sword
>>
>>96874797
I actually kind of agree. GW essentially took the Vampire Counts and divided them into 3 to make FEC, Soulblight, and Nighthaunt for AOS. And the Vampire Counts wasn't a particularly diverse faction in 8th in terms of available models. They've done a pretty good job of making ghouls their own full faction by mixing in a bit of Bretonnia.
But they're a total one trick pony with Nighthaunt and it took a model that should arguably be in Soulblight away just because it's driven by a ghost (Black Coach). It's definitely the weakest of those expansions from the core concepts of V Counts.
>>
This is probably why FEC performs better, they still got a great horror theme to them but it's not just a bunch of sheets which can be painted with relative low effort
>>
>>96874864
I do wish that they had more ghoul king models though, plenty of ghoul but lacking vamps
>>
>>96874849
fec should be in gravelords too

normal vampires still make use of normal ghouls, and the ghoul courts would make use of fell bats, dire wolves and perhaps more

the only problem is that then grand alliance death wouldn't be an alliance, just one aos-original faction and one bloated book

which is also why death should get a faction of lovecraftian fishmen and sea undead
>>
>>96874849
I think fluffwise they've done well to make nighthaunt pretty fun and distinct, their characters are really interesting too, they also stand out a bit from the rank and file designwise.
But in the whole yes nighthaung as it stands are like 10 different kits of the same concept. Bedsheet ghost with axe. Bedsheet ghost with big sword. With scythe. With locks. With scythe-arms. With crossbows...
Doesn't help that they also squatted the one basic bedsheet that was a little bit different in glaivewraiths, they at least had their animal skull thing going on. While we're on the topic, their cav is either a weird kit with only 2 models (??) or an ancient dual build that is 100% getting squatted next edition.
Likw the other guy said, gw isn't fixing things by just putting out (cool) heroes every update. They need some units that still fit the ghostly punishment thing while not being literal bedsheets. This topic comes up every other week and I've seen great stuff; haunted armour, ghostly angels, iron maidens and other torture shit, even just ghost dragons or whatever. Plenty of options.
>>
Maggotkin battletome got leaked, formations are new, prayers/spells are also new but one spell is kinda similar

Depends on how far into the forging cycle they're in and how often they're dispatched I reckon. Fresh faced SCE who are tasked with protecting a smaller area probably get more downtime and thus more opportunity to be with romantically. First edition got a lot of rightfully critique for the botched initial release but I still think the gameplay was fun. The Realmgate Wars campaign series was amazing and the whole vibe was so honest and different from everything else GW did before. You could clearly see they had no idea where they should go with it so a lot of artistic freedom and individual ideas managed to slip between the cracks. Also one of the rare cases where the edition peaked just by it ends rather than turning into absolute mess and therefore requiring a hard reset.

>>

Yeah it's fun to look back and try to parse out why they did things the way they did, what the outcomes were, and what they were trying to achieve. I think they had some good ideas about listbuilding and just generally making the game accessible to newcomers, that I'd like for GW to remind itself about.

It's been left a little up in the air. Ignax was supposedly freed from Archaon's control by the sacrifice of a runefather, then flew away to who knows where. But in 3e it was hinted that there was some lingering taint of Chaos in her, so it could come up again.

One of the early stories has a subplot where two stormcast have a fling and a physical relationship. So it's a thing that happens. It's not been shown that stormcast form romantic or sexual relationships with non-stormcast, but there's nothing to indicate that they lack the capacity for it.

I don't blame them, warhammer romances can be such a mixed fucking bag. You can have shit like Felix banging some new lady and then she dies like every book, or you can have a middle aged fat playwrite banging a vampire that keeps getting referenced as looked like a strapping young 16 year old. (and we really gotta keep mentioning how attractive and 16 she looks, THIS IS NECESSARY FOR THE PLOT)

Which feels odd, I feel like having a set of characters that are a couple could lead to easy double model releases.

>>
>>96879203
Non metallic metal, I don’t get it either but it makes it so things look shiny.
>>
>>96878667
I wouldn't say NMM is the name of the game, it's essentially just an expectation at this point. Anybody winning golden demon can do NMM to the level where it would blow metallics out of the water, so there's no chance of metallic paints winning anything. If you were to use them you'd just be like automatically ceding points for no reason.

>>96879203
NMM stands for Non-Metallic Metal. It just means instead of using metallic paints, you paint with normal (matte) paints to give the effect of metal, so you paint in highlights and reflections. It gives you more room to demonstrate skill and add interest to the paint jobs since you're no longer relying on the specular highlights provided by metallic paints, you can just paint in interesting reflections or highlights yourself.

Yknow if there's one thing I'll concede to grogs it's the awful names in aos. Gw writers exposed as frauds when they can't just take real life locations/languages and twist them around a little bit. IIRC all the Warcry books published before Catacombs had digital editions. From Catacombs onward all the books had to be manually scanned.

That is a lot of gw shit on jp twitter. I’m seeing a whole load of Aos, there’s obviously some 40K, but I’m also seeing some tow stuff as well. Really curious what warhammers like over yonder.
Also curious why it’s even in my feed, only jap shit I like are my anime hentais.

I think my algo got combined by my wallpaper hunting, which happen to involves a lot of Japanese photogs/profiles. They just take damn good pictures. But then it crosses with Warhammer and now most of the hobby related posts I see are from someone Japanese. Happy it's growing over there at least.
>>
>>96882499
They take the same quality picture we do. There's just more photographers because a camera takes up very little space in their Japanese autism containment cell(apartment), so there's more good photographers because of the larger sample size, not because they're better than us

Without a doubt, but given he mentioned he remembered the price, it's safe to assume he has purchased one in the past. In a pinch you can use a throwaway synthetic paintbrush, but unless you keep it saturated, it'll turn into a solid toothpick so leave the tip dipped in the bottle or cap

Famine as slaanesh works in a weirdly inspired way. Rather than a sickly, malnourished thing, it would be a morbidly obese individual, representing famine not by showing you it's effects in a man, but showing you a man that looks like they could alone cause it.

No it's interesting to see what armies are popular in different parts of the world. Despite our resident flopposter helsmiths actually seem to have done pretty well, honestly a bit surprising since their reception was more mixed than usual. Solid fluff seems to have done them a big favour.
Sidenote, but it's weird that gw never comitted to a full japanese army in fantasy or aos. It's a very popular aesthetic worldwide, compared to cathays china which is relatively niche outside of, well, china.

>>
>>96884001
Lmao you haven't met a lot of Chinese people then.
Incredibly materialistic, essentially Asian Jews (this is self described) in money grubbiness. That comes with a desire to show off the wealth, and you don't show off with knock offs. Because knock offs are so available there it's seen as low class. The Chinese people with the money to participate in Warhammer aren't using knock offs they are flaunting that they can buy the real thing
>>
>>96883981
Of course, but neither warhammer nor wargaming in general seems like it's getting their foot in the door. In japan there's at least a little bit of interest. I guess cathay was their way of trying to be the first in the chinese market? Taking a risk like that can pay off huge, though idk if it really drummed up much interest in this case. To use a sports example, the english premier league made an effort to broadcast matches for cheap in asia and africa in the early 2000's, and it's paying dividends now that the middle class in those regions is growing, and they all grew up watching chelsea and man united or whatever. I guess gw was angling for something similar.

Also man, I’ve never wanted gw to regurgitate content so much as now.
>>
>>96884441
The first core book, Catacombs, and Red Harvest are the ones I'd recommend going for first if all you want is fluff. Other supps from 1e have interesting tidbits as well, but they're mostly buried in flavor text for quests and rewards. The big books have meatier descriptions of the setting in general.

>Popular aesthetic
Hmm. Is it? To LOOK at, yes. But wargaming and model wise? They're sets that even now you just don't really see product lines. For years it was basically Dixons and 1st Corps for (25mm historical) models and I don't really think the situation has changed much even now, Warlord's new stuff notwithstanding. Even the old 1/72 soft plastic mainstays like Revell, HaT or Italeri never really went there.
Of course, given it's GW the ACTUAL answer is most likely that none of the designers were really so enthused about any concepts that they pushed and lobbies for the range rather than sales data (I always think this is the true meaning of the infamous "no market research" quote) and then the 'product line stasis' set in.
>>
>>96884712
I gotta admit I have no experience with historicals so I'll take your word for it. Why would that be you think? It's a very recognizable aesthetic, and the sengoku jidai is one of the few non western conflicts even the most surface level history buffs have heard of (even if not in detail)

no, it didn't, you'll get more of it
maybe it will be the netters, maybe it will be the archers, maybe it will e the guys on spider-squigs, but there will be more scuttlings
>>
>>96884712
I think the problem is war gaming isn't popular in japan so because it's mostly a european thing, most non-fantasy stuff involves european or american wars. There is so much potential in a Sengoku era or Bakumatsu era war game but obviously most of the people playing war games don't know anything about those and wouldn't care about the setting. Japanese stuff is extremely popular in videogames so I don't think it's much of a jump to say that it has strong potential for people playing fantasy setting wargames. IMO, a lot of the more interesting stuff in warhammer designs is when they lean into specific real cultures, like aztec lizards or egyptian skeletons. Now that I think about it, a chinese/japanese theming for ghosts and spirits would completely sell me on nighthaunt. So much potential there
>>
>>96884739
If they do end up squatting the spider units like most people think they will, these guys are 99% most likely to go with them. I think there's a decent chance spiders and scuttlings get sent to TOW cuckshed with beasts of chaos.
>>
>>96884836
