Any ever played this before? Buddy of mine and few close friends are RS fanatics even to today and bought the set. Group of 5, only I have experience with TT (1yr of 5e) but he will be DMing. Curious if there are any major pitfalls or stumbling blocks for a gaggle of virgin tabletoppers.

As someone who read over the rules and ran a partial oneshot- I would say some major pitfalls the game has: you actually can't permanently die in the game per the death rules.

You can just continually "respawn" outside the fight you died in and outside of (maybe) losing money, there's no long term punishment (the stat loss just comes back after a session).

Also making a character has a rules inconsistency/beginner trap where the game says you gain extra attribute points per 5 levels a Skill has, but with some backgrounds starting off with 5 points (such as Summoner) a problem occurs in Character advancement: "You cannot increase an Attribute in this fashion during character creation-that is, if you choose a background giving you 5 points in a Skill, or you assign 5 points to a skill as part of a free build, you do not gain an Attribute Increase. You must increase your Skills during a game session to achieve an Attribute increase."

Additionally: given how it's a 3d6 roll under system, you will be VERY hard pressed to succeed tests early on given how lower level characters start out with single digit skill plus attributes amounts.

I admire the game's quick speed of play with the 3d6 system and the effort to try bridging the OSRS/RS3 lore to where you could easily try to play a pre- or post- 6th age game. It's something that needed a lot of polish.
