Have you tried not playing Warhammer?
No fucking shit, everyone who has been pumping wads and wads of their mommy's cash into this fucking company since 2010 is a fucking retard that needs electroshock therapy. The writing become a garden hose of retarded shit, the models have tripled in price including inflation, and these fucking tards are buying name-brand model paint for dollars on the penny. If you're not pirating this shit at the very least, please do the global gaming community a favor and blind yourselfWH40K didn't used to be more cancerous than Magic the Gathering but those days are long gone
The older editions of the game back when it was still good still exist, literally just go and play them.
90% of people you see online in this "fandom" do not play. They may have played it once or twice years ago and then act as the authority on anything ever since
>>96948080Yeah, its pretty fucking great. Been playing Space Battles for beer & chips game recently. Tempted to pick up the Dragon Rampant 2nd ed to see if its a bit better. Current group isn't into even medium complexity but honestly that's fine. A 2 hour game is a fun thing to do on a weekend. What have you been playing that isn't Warhammer?
>>96948279>What have you been playing that isn't Warhammer?I've just been upboating your le posts, r@dditfriend! I forgot the name. I need to get my book from my parents house.>>96948080I took to OPR to avoid the GW fandom. I'm also looking into 2mm but not sure what genre/rules.

For me its the 40k expansion for Fistful of Lead, the swiss army knife of wargame rules and one of the best skirmish games ever written

>>96950161I get tons of joy out of actually good games and older editions, the new game just sucks anon
>>96950161Disc golf is still as fun as when I was 12 and that's just chucking plasic at a hunk of metal repeatedly.
>>96948080 i've played age of sigmar a couple of times, it was kinda bad and clunky. i liked relic blade a lot more. I think GW games are not so well designed gameplay wise.
>>96948080What GW took from me was moving the main store in my area from a popular mall where people would constantly be going in and out of it, staff and people talking about the games to new people all the time, and you could spend time there as a kid while your parents did whatever other shopping they were there for, to a strip mall where the only people who would ever go in now are die-hard fans or people with games scheduled.I know because of the internet there might not need to be that much foot traffic for GW to get traction, but it's a real shame imo
>>96949586how did you figure that out
>>96949071As opposed to having it and not playing it. The game police regulations may vary in your district.
>>96948243I've played more 2nd and 3rd this year than I've ever played 8th/9th/10th combined
Just play Killteam, and only for the sake of a couple friends. Deadzone and Ganesha's games are better.
>>96950505Google primarilyBut I also asked chat gpt
>>96950533I need to start thinking of what I can proxy my new edition models as.Would you make a fuss about someone calling a Norn Assimilator a Carnifex or a Screamer Killer and just moving on? I don't think there are proper harpoon morphs in that edition for critters that size, so I'd just call it two sets of scything claws.
>>96948080I tried not to play warhammer but it is all everyone else wants to play so I end up playing nothing or warhammer.
>>96948475At that scale why not just use flags and other tokens
>>96950993I'm sure you could workshop a few ideas yourself once you accept taste is subjectivego on, anon, time to develop a theory of mind
>>96950723Think it is a bit smaller than the Dimachaeron. Can't recall which Imperial armour it show up.But here you can see the rules for 7th is should be similar enough for 3rd/4th the main difference would be that in those edition melee didn't had AP, a melee weapon either allowed a saved or did not.Since it is a monstrous creature you can safely assume that it simply ignored armor saves.
>>96948080Serious question, as someone trying to get into Warhammer, what other table top wargame would you reccomend? Hard mode: No tranny crusade or Islamity.
>>96951075Sure taste is subjective, just asking why bother at that scale when in the example shown those just look like blobs of paint. Zoom in I can tell that maybe they guys at the front are on horses, the guys at the back some rank and file and the blob maybe a flag? But onces you move at an arms length, they start looking off. I say this because I play warmaster and some armies become unreadable at a distance due to the paintjob at this scale and warmaster is not this small.I question it as a game pieces not as a painting or hobby project.
>>96951119>pic related Just stick to Warhammer, it's where you belong
>>96949586He played Oldhammer is what he did. He was a proper bri'ish lad. In this house, Fillup Lupis Shitterbum is a hero, end of story!
>>96950993It's dirt cheap to buy 2mm so why not?I was thinking about using painted jenga blocks too. With 2mm you can still put "big" models down and sell the visuals. I could use jenga blocks for abstract purposes. No idea how to do 2mm terrain mind you.
>>96951242Yeah, my question mostly goes for the game aspect of the wargame. The hobby side seems fun as hell.
I download the rulebooks and 3D print my own models to play with my friends in our garage.
>>96950723>Norn AssimilatorThat's a tyrant.
>>96948539I miss Antares so much. Wish I could find a player to play with me just one more time
>>96949586Congratulations, you've discovered what satire is! You're gonna flip out when you learn which fictional number + letter universe you deeply enjoy is *also* satirical.
>>96951766Oh ok. So what is it satirizing?
>>96948151>WH40K didn't used to be more cancerous than Magic the Gathering but those days are long goneAs bad as GW has gotten it's factually impossible for it to be in as dire a place as MTG is when Wizards has whored it out and just turned it into fortnite: the TCG. 40k has yet to officially include rules for furbies, spider-man, or the office. The unannounced set ended up being fucking Ninja Turtles of all things, for those curious.
>>96948279Trench crusade and Battletech mostly. They're both great times for different types of day
>>96948279Dead by Lead and Port Royal, love me some skirmish campaign games.
>>96948080Yep, have been getting into WW2 wargames using 1/72 scale models. The stuff is cheap as chips, (you can get a tank for the price of a single GW figure), I am learning stuff about REAL WORLD history (most of which is much more dynamic and interesting than the sales driven capeshit crap Black Library shits out) and I know that the models I own now will not be nurfed and replaced by yet another set of powercreeped models in a year or two just to boost sales.
>>96948080I do not care for playing tabletop games. They are all, inherently, objectively inferior to strategy video games and not worth my time. Only value of this hobby is in assembling, kitbashing, converting, sculpting and painting models.Kirby was right all along. Just build your army and then play Dawn of War instead.
>>96951119Turnip28 is cheap to get into, has a clear aesthetic that will introduce you to kitbashing, converting and painting, and the rules are dynamic, easy to understand and support you in building a collection of models you enjoy. The thing that really sets the game apart for me is its resurrection of a sadistic streak of British humour. Not since Warhammer Fantasy 3rd Ed have I seen rules writing take such glee in horrible things happening to your own models, shitty troops and shitty commanders both. Turnip's fucking great, and I say that comfortably in the secure knowledge that you will never play it.
>>96953240does that D6 have a base with terrain?
>>96951869Stop asking questions!
>>96951218>Post your models!>what!? what!? I've gotta post my models now!?>Before I was breakin' bawls, now you're startin' to worry me...
>>969518694chan and England.
>>96953240Turnip 28 is gay as fuck, but I love that Perry Knight riding a smail. Email riding knights has always been one of my favorite tropes. Where did you get the snail, or did you make it yourself?
>>96949586Not since '23, anyway. RIP Philly boy.
>>96953584Yep; Turnip factions consist mostly of ordinary, shitty troops plus some kind of armywide special rule and some kind of modelling centerpiece. My faction is allotment competition "vegetable" growers, so I made an allotment terrain piece plus markers to track what veg they're growing plus some gardener figures to actually grow the veg. If I get the urge to try another faction then I can make the centerpiece for that faction and use it alongside my regular troops; if I get the urge to make a particularly fucked-up model, I can look through the rules to see what faction might suit it best. Either way, bam, new army experience. >>96953897Not my snail sadly, but there is a snail knights faction if snails are your thing. Not that it would be, because snails are very Turnip and Turnip's gay as fuck!
>>96948475>2mmI play Valor and Fortitude at 2mm, by converting the measurements to cm and changing nothing else. It works really well.I'm also considering midgard at 2mm, and finding some large scale ww1 or modern rules too. It's a great scale for large battles.
>>96955449Snails aren't a turnip thing, they are a common medieval motiff
>>96951336I don't really understand the question, you don't need models to wargame at all. You can proxy anything but visuals are nice to have.
>>96951869The English middle class.
>>96948279Aerodrome, Check Your Six, What a Tanker, and Chain of Command mostly. A bit of Battletech here and there.
>>96948369And it's all Warhammer's fault.
>>96949877>even when playing other games, the 40kiddie can't bear the thought of detaching himself from the GW ecosystem
>>96951119You seem insufferable, please stay in 40k with the other retards.
>>96948080Wheres all the negroid children and girls??
>>96955663He's asking why bother with models that small when the game will likely read clearer with just tokens and markers.
>>96955563...I do get that. I was making some lighthearted fun. I did not mean to imply that snail knights are a modern creation. That said, I personally am not aware of other wargames competing in the "snail knight faction" space.
>>96948080Took what from me? I play warhammer at the games workshop store every other Saturday just like I have done for the last 25 years.

>>96948350>Finally find a fellow 'scaperYo, what do you think of the Renagade releases? Thoughts on the stuff coming out next year? I'm actually excited for G.I. Joe and the Skordyre.

>>96951119If you can outline what attracts you to Warhammer (and which flavour appeals most) we’d be able to help more. Is there a local group of people you’re wanting to join? If so you’ll probably need to play what they play, which sadly, will likely be 40K, which is a shit-tier game with a premium price tag. If you want a platoon-plus-sized mass battle game, Bolt Action (WW2) plays better, is better written, easier to learn, and much, much cheaper. If you want more of a skirmish game, Trench Crusade is decent, has a nice aesthetic, the rules are free online and you can kitbash or proxy models, making it as cheap or expensive as you like. If you want a campaign skirmish game and don’t mind fantasy, Mordheim has you covered, see Broheim dot net for rules, supplements etc. Also cheap because of proxies and kitbashes. Just be aware that for maximum fun you should play in a campaign with minimum 4 players, and up to 10-12.Turnip28 is excellent and not gay in the least and a good introduction into not!Napoleonics. It also has a fun aesthetic all of its own. Not sure how popular it is any more, but for regiment-level WW2 in a smaller scale, Flames of War is a good choice. My advice? Start small with an affordable game to see if wargaming is for you. The only reasons to play 40K are that you’re a tournament autist, or you like the aesthetic, or that you are a white-male-hating autogynephilic translesbian BLM supporter, or you simply have too much money and need to find a way to get rid of it with nothing to show for it.
>>96955742>how dare you enjoy a setting and want to play games in that universe using an actually good rule system! You have been mindbroken by GW.
>>96958478>You have been mindbroken by GWSays the clown who must have all games converge on GW IP.>enjoys 40k setting in 2025At least you're open about your rampant homosexuality.
I have Warmachine and Infinity armies and a full X-Wing set if you want to come over to play.
