People who claim to like shit like 40k but hate the concept of grimdark outside of the aesthetic need to be killed. This includes people who use the term "grimderp" to describe anything that portrays their favorite faction as anything less than heroic.
That's why I like the Tau desu. They're the least shitty faction but they still have their darker authoritarian tendencies, and most importantly they're also the smallest faction, with only some 300 worlds, making them only .03% the size of the Imperium. For ever Gue'vesa living a relatively comfortable life in the Tau Empire, there are over 3,000 Imperial citizens living in darkness and misery in the Imperium, and who knows how many more humans living in the nightmarish realms of Chaos.
