Anyone have experience with MUD/MUSH games? I'm creating a character in a Shadowrun mush named Cill, a junkie running from an old crime boss

I do. There are places out there where the roleplay quality is so psychotically high that it is basically like living in a novel. That said, the epic amount of drama that build up in these small group muds and mushes eventually just wasn't worth it. In a lot of these places you are walking blindly into a minefield of drama that has been building up for literal decades. You are taking sides in shit you don't even know about by just saying hello to the wrong person.

Yeah. Most people in these MUDs/MUSHes don't even really play the game, they just loom in the foyer or OOC channels. The real game is getting other people banned for offending some 40yo spinster or her literal faggot friends.
