I remember when a new board game cost something like $30-40 USD. Now I look around and it's an easy 50-60 if not more. This sucks.
Is it just me, or does spacebiff suck? Was interested in a game, came across one of his reviews, thought it sucked, scrolled down, saw everyone slobbering over his cock.
>>96982449Welcome to inflation. I just hit 900k and I'm very middle class.
>>96982449A quick glance at a few popular publisher stores (Allplay, 25th Century, CMYK) shows you can still get plenty of games, even the popular best sellers, for under $30.
Flip 7 isn't even UNO tier garbage god damn why didn't you fags warn me?
>>96982601You spent time playing it? Or you actually bought it?
>>96982490You are absolutely right and anyone literate shouldn't be impressed. His prose is as repulsive, flabby and self-indulgent as he is. Pointless pontification and five dollar words as wallpaper—It's live from the gulag with the other New Yorker subscribers. Yes, it's no surprise that he is venerated among the hand-wringing, largely convictionless inmates. Enough syllabic stimulation and those lonely longing kooks might just think they see the face of God. His content is round pegs for square holes and one could easily carve half of it away and rearrange it into something coherent that fits the brief, but then we wouldn't have the joys of his a-fag-touched-my-dick-accidentally-once-and-it-made-me-wonder-deeply-oh-so-deep-about-myself musings.
>>96982490He’s self-indulgent to the point of repulsiveness, so naturally the cattle who regularly post on gulag adore him.
>>96982601It's not that bad, Uno is barely a game, Flip 7 at least has some decisions in it

Which one is betterGAH with expansion or Lorenzo Big Box?For dice games I already have Troyes and Voyages of Marco Polo.
Almost done with a low-ink nandeck template for Tragedy Looper. I have a script to format and convert the hundreds of scripts from the repository into a CSV for importing into it and other programs that support importing data onto cards (Photoshop, Card Creator, etc.). I have a nicer official-looking template, but I'm not sure if I can recreate the text effects in nandeck so I might use PS' data import function for that one.

>>96983533>changing the theme fixes a gameno it does not, especially if you're talking about root
>>96982490His reviews are not that great in terms of being too wishy washy but he does tend to have a pretty good taste in games other than his Wherle cocknoshing obsession (not that much different to the average /bgg/ poster anyway)
>>96982490Wouldn't actively hate on him but he sure as hell gives me no insights. It's all about theme and narratives and this retarded susd style of "what the game feels" review. Which is nice and all, but I want a less prosaic take and more straightforward take, like does this and that mechanic go together well, is it balanced, are there obvious issues etc. Disliking games purely because the historic context hasn't been capured as he'd like (his la famiglia review) is a bit faggy to me, but that's his style
Someone recommended Sleeping Gods a while ago. Had a bit of spare time so I tried it out on TTS. I'm a third of the way into my first campaign, and the game is excellent so far. The exploration aspect is almost exactly what I expected based on just looking at it, which is good. The resource management aspect is really tight and every turn forces you to make decisions. The combat is the highlight for me, I definitely didn't expect a system with hit locations that you need to target to maim and kill your enemies. If there's one gripe I have, it's that the game is a bit TOO tight in some places. You only get two actions per turn, and the game blasts you with events every turn, the most annoying of which can blast your ship around the map. I was exploring one location, got moved away, and just as soon as I get back it fucking blows me away again. With 3 actions per turn it wouldn't be so frustrating, but then again it's just a bit of bad luck and the game is balanced around 2 so whatever. I'd much rather have a very tight game which is sometimes frustrating but where every system works than a loosey goosey barely functional game I could mention.Ahem.... FUCKEARTHBORNERANGERS
>>96983204Oooh that's a good idea, actually
>>96984020If you changed the theme to different clown tribes running around a funhouse, it would make the game a lot more resonant, actually
>>96984407>rethemeing Root into BigTop, a game about different teams of performers in a big circusfyck, it might actually kinda work>VP is audience satisfaction, crafting cards is learning new performances or hiring new performers onto the team so obviously it increases vp sometimes>each clearing is a tent to perform in>the Vagabond is a Mime, the only one playing by his own rules, ignoring walls and making his own walls to prevent others following him>the Erye Dynasties are the Acrobats, their show of jumping from rope to rope is difficult so they plan it ahead and it's always the same tricks, the sequence just gets longer, and if one of them fucks up then the whole routine is halted, OSHA gets called in and the show plan is reset to the basics>the rebellion are Animal Handlers, always a popular act to bring in the elephant and parade it around, but you need to prepare a lot first so that the lion doesnt eat the kids>Marquise deCat is the Magician Union, using their props to pull even more props out of the same hat, and dont forget the disappearing act (Keep Hospitals)now which of the expansion factions is the clowns? Can't be the otters, they're clearly there to sell merchandise and food to the guests, and i'm not familiar with the other factions enough to say who they'd be in a circus retheme
>>96984457this still doesn't fix root or whatever you want to call it
