X-wing is a lot of fun. We got a huge update a couple of weeks ago, completely overhauling the listbuilding. We have a 50 point system now, as opposed to the previous 20. Generics are also playable now.

It's not concrete yet since I haven't been painting much, but I'm thinking either darker tones of blue and green based Dromund Kaas, or grey and dark purple/indigo off of Thule.
I was thinking a purple or blue saber for the former, and bright green for the latter.

Thule from the old The Clone Wars game on Gamecube and Xbox, the OTHER Star Wars title that Pandemic did before Battlefront. Primarily a vehicle combat game, weirdly enough. Takes place immediately after AOTC, with the first few missions actually being part of the ending to it.

>Favorite thing about Coruscant
The upper levels, despite how little they're used for setpieces. Yes, the lower levels have all the fun scum and villainy, but the upper levels let you really enjoy the Art Deco influence in the architecture, and the airspeeder freeways are just pleasing to the eyes. Additionally, they would make for an awesome freeway fight scene. Imagine something like the climax of The Matrix Reloaded, but on Coruscant.

>>
>>97030683
some people tend to take something george said 40 years ago as gospel, despite the fact that george did something completely different when the prequels rolled around
>>
>>97030810
But no matter what he ended up doing, he at least wrote an outline at some point.
Unlike JJ and RJ.
>>
>>97031020
I hope they do something with George's ST notes. Easy money would be to get an editor/writer together and work them into an alternate universe book trilogy, maybe even a comic series. But realistically any material he gave them is just going to sit in a drawer at Lucasfilm, like a Raiders of the Lost Ark sorta deal.
>>
>>97030810
The thing is to never take what george says as gospel unless its consistent and not contradicted, which is rare. People also take things he said during the prequels as gospel despite them being contradictions or eben changig his mind about it later.

Why is Empire such shit in Legion?
>>
>>97032067
used to be great, now you know how it feels to play rebels previously
>>
>>97032067
There are a few reasons. They got some small buffs in the recent patch. I feel like both the Imperial Remnant and Stormtrooper Battalion could be good now, as both sort of address the core issues.
>Pierce lowers the value of red saves
In a meta of units like Din, rebel heroes, Clone Commandos, Shotgun clones, etc, your stormtroopers have less staying power than rebel troopers with stacked dodges.
>No LOS blockers in the support slots
The Empire has the hardest time protecting itself from Alpha strikes. GAR and Rebels have AT-RTs, Separatists have Droidekas, spiders and Aquas. The Empire has nothing, so at most, you can take two LOS blocking vehicles
>Limited token access
Imperial units really have to work for their tokens. Meanwhile, the other factions have much easier ways of getting tokens. Clone infantry has reliable, ARCs have tactical, Rebel troopers have Agile, separatists have Kalani, etc.
>Arguably the worst at managing suppression
Droids don't give a shit about suppression, GAR is natively courage 2+, Rebels have a billion sources of Inspire. Empire has 3 whole sources of Compel, and that's about it. And it doesn't help if you need to do a different action from moving.
>Lots of overpriced units
Both the GAV and AT-ST have to pay for their surge to hit, without which they are unplayable.
>Limited access to large dice pools.
Unless we're talking about super squads, Imperial dice pools rarely go over like 9 dice. And there are many units where having large dice pools is essential for killing them - most importantly, Aquas.

That's not to say things are all bad. The recent patch did bring quite a few nice changes. You can probably squeeze in an extra act in remnant due to Dark Trooper and Shore buffs. Stormtrooper batallion can finally help your surge starved corps.>>97032206
>>
>>97032294
I suppose I should also add a couple of points.
>terrible order control
Especially in Vader lists, you don't really have many ways of ensuring you actually get to activate when you want. Krennic, Kallus and Officer can help, but it's still not great.

The new update brought Kallus heavy, which seems like a pretty good upgrade on riots. If you get to melee, you can immobilize something, and add 3 surging dice + 1 more courage to the unit.

It also looks like Thrawn will be able to help Empire a lot, being able to generate around 5 tokens to share a turn + also directing any Empire unit.
>>
So bear with me here because I'm basically retarded, how does the Order phase in Legion work?
You pick a card, that determines the Orders you can give out, and then you assign those orders to a unit within range of a Commander?
And then there's alternating activations for units who have Orders, and then all non-Ordered units have individual activations?
>>
I've heard someone say that during TCW, filoni would try to claim some EU ideas as his own
is there any truth to this or is it a bunch of shit? I know anons here know more than me about TCW behind the scenes stuff
>>
>>97033103

>just google it

>>
>>97033103
Never heard of that, but Filoni has used ideas and character concepts from the pre-Disney EU several times.
If you've never seen them before and do not recognize them, you will not care, if you do recognize them you most likely hate all the disney crap anyway.
>>
>>97029805
Lucas can buzz off
>>
>>97033047
You pick a card which states who you can give an order to, then assign the order tokens faceup to these units if they are in range of the nominated commander, yes.
Keep the other order tokens facedown.
During the turn you alternate activation with your opponent.
When it's your turn to activate something you may
>pass your activation if you have a pass/advantage token
>choose one of the unit with a faceup order token and activate it. After its activation, turn the token facedown
>choose one of your facedown order token at random, turn it faceup and activate one of the corresponding unit that does not already have a token (faceup or facedown), then assign it the token facedown at the end of its activation
For example, you turn on of your facedown token and it shows a triangle (corps units), that means you can activate one of your stormtrooper, shoretrooper, snowtrooper or Pyke/Black Sun.
You don't have to activate units with faceup tokens first, in fact you'll often want to give faceup tokens to the units you want to activate last (to control when you'll play them) in order to guarantee some last-first attacks, especially with Force-users.
>>97032330
>Thrawn
He looks good for getting tokens out in time, but his kit looks far too good to be affordable. He is significantly better than the 85pts Kalani, the 80pts Kraken and the 105pts Lando, so I expect him to be at least 120-130pts, which is really expensive for a support unit especially in a faction like Empire that lacks good cheap units besides Scout Troopers and maybe Probe Droids.
>Upgrade Kallus
He seems great on Riot Troopers, yes. He basically turns it into a Special Force with a Corp token.
>>
>>97033482
Okay, so the ones given the Orders are just guaranteed activations while the rest are potentially random given what tokens you have to flip. Makes sense.
>>
File: improvised-orders.jpg (55 KB, 268x414)
55 KB
55 KB JPG
>>97033594
Exactly.
>potentially random
Is a good way of putting it. Since in a Recon/Skirmish game if you've got a list with
>1 Commander
>2 Special Forces
>4 Corps
Even if you only give order to your Commander and 2 Spec Forces you get perfect order control since all your 'randomized' tokens are Corps token.
Note that some keywords like Entourage, Direct or Coordinate can also generate extra orders beyond what's allowed by your Command Card and upgrade cards like Improvised Order can help control your random tokens once per turn.

My first character concept (for a game that never materialized) was J3-D1, an assassin droid damaged during Order 66, that reactivated with a damaged memory. It determined that it was the Jedi, and it had to fight back, and picked up a pipe as its lightsaber

He was gonna use a grapplin' hook arm to "Force Move" things to his hands. That might be a little too central character concept for what you're playing.

>B2? I've got a couple of them lying around, their arm mounts are great for mods. you can get old CIS flamethrowers for cheap and stick 'em in there easy, the body's rugged enough to handle droideka blasters if you don't mind an external mount, and I know a guy who rigged a proton torpedo launcher onto one hand and a concussion missile pod to the other

Just make sure your background includes how and where the war ended for your character.

Were you in a military unit? Just some job? Contract tech worker for a big syndicate?
Was it just an email that said 'hi everyone this is biff, just wanted to let you people know the CIS lost the war, all contracts are voided and and you're all fired, please leave the building'?

Or did the Repbulic bomb your planet, blow up your hometown and clones dragged your as out of the ruins, told you 'War's over, clanker lover' and left?

Liking her self-written fanfiction/smut/ERP does not, in fact, make her a 'star wars fan'. I'm sure she used her RPing etc. to cope with the trauma of working for Harvey Weinstein and her daddy issues, but that is besides the point.

And yeah, the show was worse then some fan films. Just like the props and costumes in various Disney shows being worse than some cosplays.
Which is extremkely ironic given the actual hundreds of millions of dollars they poured into these shows.

But props aside, they obviously failed at the writing and directing long before any of the practical filmmaking stuff even became involved.
>>
>>97040809
I read somewhere that she's read darth plagueis and that's why he's in the show
>>
>>97040626
My big problem with her was just the objective Lies she told. Like, one of the interviews i watched was her saying "Oh, Knights of the Old Republic 2 is my Favourite Star Wars game, In fact, Kreia and her amazing story was my chief inspiration for Acolyte." When, anyone who has played KOTOR2 and knows anything about Kreia's story knows that nothing in Acolyte even slightly resembles Kreia's story, except the fact that a female character is betrayed during the story.

I mean, Acolyte is just a reimagining of Anakin's story, but as twins, clearly.
>Kid who wants to become a Jedi gets taken by Jedi and trained to become one of them. Kid gets mislead by a Sith Lord and proceeds to hunt down as many Jedi as possible, then has an epic confrontation against their teacher at the end before finally becoming a Sith.

I have no problem with that, in concept. But i hate it when they lie to my fucking face.
>>
>>97040931
I read somewhere that she's gay and that's why the show is gay
>>
>>97040992
I don't think it's lying because we have a weekly thread on /v/ where half the anons completely misunderstand kreia to begin sith

>>97040993
but she IS gay
>>
>>97041003
There's a difference between "Bullshit takes" and "Not even fucking close" Like, what she said is the equivalent of me saying
>I've made a story about a regular guy who was bitten by a radioactive animal and given powers based on that animals natural abilities and fighting a cadre of mostly animal themed villains and his nemesis being his best friends father. Of course, my chief inspiration was Batman, i love his story so much."

It just came across like that scene in Ready Player One where Ben Mendolsen is getting fed lines in his earpiece while talking with the main character like "Hey, i'm hip, i'm down with the other kids and what they like, such as... Oh yeah, Knights of the Old Republic 2, that's what everyone loves and i love... Kreia. Her story is just so amazing to me. Kreia is such an amazing character"

Kreia is someone who got betrayed by both sides of the aisle for entirely stupid reasons and so sets about to get rid of both and then get rid of The Force itself.
>>

Honestly, who cares what she does in her free time with her partner?
The problem was that she (or some other people) chose to make her life choices the central theme of the show, and couldn't shut up about how it would be so super extra double gay.

Yeah OK we get it, you're a womam who likes other women, and that's fine (unless you do marketing in China, remember ;^)
Now make a good star wars show and maybe shut up in interviews about R2-D2 being a gay lesbian?

Or go on to insult the actual audience that used to like SW and tried to actually watch your show, and crash the franchise with no survivors.

Pic tangentially related.

I'm trying to figure out the platoon level tactics of the Clone Army and Droid Army. From what I can tell
>Clones have typical bounding fire doctrine, moving from cover to cover and laying down suppressing fire
>Hails of grenades are their typical way to assault defended positions, they just shout "Droid poppers" and shut down whole bunkers
>Clones easily work between each other, they're all practically interchangeable
>Crazy emphasis on heroic last stands
Meanwhile
>Droids love marching in big phalanxes, always firing and moving in synch
>Droids do actually have morale, they will break and run
>Just sort of hope they win by having way more guys
>>
>>97043632
This is, I think, a generally fair assessment. AotC is a terrible basis point, TCW gives you a much better picture of how the two armies operate.

I think two worthwhile additions to your assessment are that Clones are much more comfortable with varying unit sizes to handle varying missions, even in the course of a single battle.

Droids do not show the same variety of formation, but intriguingly they do favor phalanxes, like yous aid. Generally square-shaped formations that are as deep as they are wide, as opposed to Napoleonic lines and columns.

It also occurs to me that it's really rare to see either army using its armor independently. The closest I can come up with for a more typical armored maneuver is the column or convoy Mace drives to liberate Ryloth's capital. I don't think the CIS is ever shown using their armor that way, it's always backing up infantry.

My guess is Star Wars warfare works like the Russia Ukraine war. The possibility of sudden air or orbital strikes is so high that armor needs to be dispersed among infantry formations to avoid presenting an obvious target. Only the Empire could pull an armored spearhead off in Hoth since they had total orbital supremacy.

Krennic is a jumped-up middle manager with insane delusions of grandeur. Man literally chooses to wear a fucking cape despite no one else in his branch doing so. He's overconfident without being able to deliver as we see other characters commenting on it being a miracle that the Death Star was able to be kept secret for so long and on the project being delayed, but in fairness what government project doesn't get delayed ro hell?

By himself he's not particularly intimidating, charismatic, or strong. He's terrifying because of the sheer amount of power he wields due to his position and how he's let that go to his head.
>>
>>97045296
Or Krennic wasn't as "in the know" as he thought. He's an engineer. His job is to build the Death Star but he thought he was far more critical than that and was in charge. He didn't realize, largely because of his ego, that there were far more important people in the loop on the project that he simply didn't know about. When Tarkin simply takes the project from Krennic and Krennic runs to Vader to demand an audience with the Emperor he gets told to sit down and shut up. Like the anon above said, Krennic is a glorified middle manager with delusions of grandeur. The real DS movers and shakers already knew about the DS.

I kind of wish this film didn't exist so Andor could have a third season that covered the Rebellion's race to track the Death Star plans and their first major victory against the Empire but with the writing and characters of the show.

Rogue One is so obviously disinterested in its own premise and characters that it ironically makes Andor/RO's entire story turn out like The Mandalorian, where it starts out feeling fresh and original but devolves into memberry fanservice by the end.
>>
>>97058040
They originally planned to do the show year-by-year for fout? I think four seasons.
But they decided to cut things down to two seasons, probably becasue tehy were so slow with the filming..

A third season would have been great, it would have allowed season 2 to be mostly about how teh rebellion turned from disjointed dissidents into a somewaht coherent froce, and S3 then to focus on the continuing escalation into civil war.

Sadly, Lucasfilm shat out Kenobi and Acolyte instead. We can, in fact, not have nice things.

I stopped giving a fuck about that years ago, I just use whatever I like.

Which roughly equals everything except the Disney trilogy.
>>
>>97058799
There was a five season plan but they cut it short to just two because Tony Gilroy was 70 and managing the show was too much of a strain, as well as the show being so expensive and Disney wanting to cut back on the budgets of their streaming shows. Stellan Skarsgard also wanted to get killed off by season 2 to go back to filming movies.

I think the show could have just been three seasons, I didn't mind the timeskips in S2 but I would have liked an arc about the Rebel Alliance forming and moving into Yavin, then I would have moved the Luthen sendoff/Kleya's escape arc as the opening episodes of a third season.
>>

Yeah, that'd have been the right stuff. Actually telling the story of how they turned from a bunch of radicals, resistance groups, smugglers and outright terrorists and pirates to teh Rebel Alliance we see in ANH.
>I would have moved the Luthen sendoff/Kleya's escape arc as the opening episodes of a third season.
I have to disagree here, Luthen's death really marks the shift from shadowy underground movement to open rebellion.
Having it as the end point of S2 is still the correct way to do it even if there was a S3.
Also, having Kleya as ops officer for a season would probably have been prety great. Vel probably could have fit in there, too, she always was portrayed as more comfortable at the sharp end.

I feel like the best-case scenario for any Disney material that turns out to be good is for it to end on a high note before some empty suit takes notice and steps in to fuck it up. Andor might have kept on being good, but the odds aren't in its favor.
>>
>>97061882
I don't think the quality has anything to do with the "suits" as much as it based on the specific creatives they hire for their movies and shows. Hence why Andor and The Acolyte can come from the same studio and have similar levels of budget yet the quality gap is drastic.

Maybe Disney should just hire more people from the UK. Everyone in Andor was like british.
>>
>>97054589
I liked the aesthetics in S2: Journey to Dark Head
>>
>>97061882
Andor always had a known end point thanks to R1, and we know pretty well how the galaxy loks and feels in ANH and the OT in general, so that is where we'Re going to be when it ends.

It's constraining on the one hand, on the other hand it allows a show to focus on the events it needs to tell. Andor managed this, and I am pretty certain they could have managed that qualityfor one more season.

I don't know about a fourth or even fifth season. Even S2 was in danger because of teh huge delays. If it's an ongoing production with a team that knows what it's doing, it's a lot less likely that some corporate types start noticing and going 'hey what if we do XYZ to make more money'

>>97062064
They just hired people who actually knew their job and kept the retarded tropes in check.
If you want to get political about it, yeah maybe the people who don't want to work in Britain are less likely to include thE MesSaGe in their work which in turn allows them to write/film/produce actually entertaining entertainment.
>>
>>97062154

There is a difference between 'being political' and cramming grilbossing girlboses who don't need no man into everything, with a nice sequence of kicking the former (white male) hero down a flight of stairs.

You probably noticed that Andor has chracters who have strengths and weaknesses and who happen to be men or women and who happen to fall in love with men and women, and they're never just some cardboard cutout with a message stapled on.

Nah, that is not a good idea.

But a show to bridge the gaps between the episodes?
That will not be able to fix TPM and AotC, anyway.
Butt since we already have some ideas what happens between the OT movies, a show that just looks at the develving situation in the galaxy as everything descends further into civil and then general war might work.

But it would again make the clone kiddies screech because there are no lightsabers, and Disney is out of money anyway.
I'd fucking love it, just let the show follow a group of people who go on to becomoe pilots for the Alliance. Use all the lore from the games and novels.

Disney playing around with whatever your favorite EU thing is would've just resulted in a terrible adaptation of it.

I think the point was that there were loads of good stories and good characters, but Disney decided to just delete it all.
And tehn tehy chose to replace it with shallow, badly written copies.
It's like they are completely out of touch and just hate money.

Seriously, what kind of coke-fueled boardroom circlejerk greenlights a high republic show for half a billion dollars?
Who looked at the Kenobi screenplay and said 'good idea let's do this'?
Same with BoBF.
These last two just left me puzzled, how the fuck do you turn what should be a guaranteed slamdunk with fans cheering you all the way to the bank into desasters that end up burning your fandom to the ground on social media?

TCW Mortis arc nearly included apparitions of Revan and Bane, but it was cut for reasons I don't remember. Either Dave not wanting to establish things about who Revan was as an individual, or George insisting that such a thing would violate the afterlife rules. The S6 Yoda arc had several Sith phantoms in it though, including a much-altered version of Bane, so probably the former.

Any anons want to help me with something? I'm trying to work out how long the Sabaoth Destroyer is, and I finally found a specific artist reference. But when I tried plugging it into ChatGPT or measuring pixels myself (which I am shit at), I got three different answers from three different attempts. Its length could be 310m, 370m, or 477m. So I'm hoping someone here is more accurate than I am.

The comparison is an AAT tank in the reference image. Since we have canon specs for those (9.19m). Pic related is the ship, and the AAT.

I feel like the key difference is that the political scenes in Andor have intrigue. They're not just exposition dumps, usually there's an underlying tension because both the protagonists and antagonists are trying to cover their asses in some way. Couple that with the actors actually being directed properly so it feels like they're having a proper natural conversation.
https://youtu.be/QmGRvbKAr3M?si=Ga_AaRc_SJExcsJl

Contrast that with the political scenes in the prequels. All of them sound like the actors are just reciting their lines in a script. It's like ChatGPT dialogue, just boring and sterile.

New DM here. I let a party of all blastfags go through since i thought it was fine "It could happen". But i'm starting to see the flaw in this. They hate the idea of piloting tanks (????) and also they refuse to open doors.(They've been easy the entire time.) Not to mention the shartships.

Is there a way i can balance this aside from actually giving them tech obstacles? They're kinda stupid so I almost don't want to do that.

Yeah well, if they do not have the skills, they will just fail. Well, they will fail often and if there is a serious penalty for failure this will be extremely punishing.
Maybe tell your players that they will need some tech skills and some piloting, and work out a way with them how their characters can learn those skills.

This is the main drawback of that system. Mixing specialties will often result in only the character who has the relevant skill being able to actually do a specific thing, while the others cheer them on.

>14 Stormtroopers with DLT and Rockets
>Vader
>2x speeder bikes
Turns out a cousin I rarely speak to played the game but got fed up and will give me the following things he's got left:
>Vader Operative
>Imperial Officer
>2x IG assassin droids
>Agent Kallus
>2x speeder bikes
>Scout Trooper Squad
>Shore troopers + Mortar
>2x Stormtrooper squad with DLT and Rockets
Is it enough for an army so 800 points? I'm kinda lost on the points since I've seeing the game got multiple point changes and rule changes compared to the original core rules

The meta is kind of in flux now due to the recent points changes, but there are a couple of good choices:

> Riot troopers with a LAAT/le
>Dewbacks
>Din Djarin
>Customisable Officer and Agent
>A couple of E-webs, if you can find them
>Snows, if you can find then
The AT-ST is an alright choice, but it's not super easy to use.

How does coruscant actually work, is it like a concentric layer, an onion of levels and stages? Could one specific building take us from the top to the very bottom, even through an elevator?
>>
>>97072855
I'd assume in most cases the buildings visible on the surface are built on top of older layers. Both the novels and the games would seem to indicate that at least parts of Coruscant has a "false surface" that's like a platform other buildings are built on but isn't anywhere near the actual surface. In one of the Jedi Academy books Han's and Leia's children go to an elevator in where a maintenance worker had removed a panel covering the buttons for disused floors at the bottom of the building, and press the 1st floor's button. The elevator takes them to the abandoned lower levels of Coruscant, but it's clearly not the actual lowest possible level since it still has breathable air and is recognizable as a run-down and overgrown city block, while the actual lowest levels are supposed to be completely buried in rubble and refuse that has fallen down from the upper levels over the millenia and are so cut off from the levels above they completely lack oxygen.
>>
>>97072945
I wonder what horrors and treasures are still around on the bottom levels. I imagine it's some odd combination of stuff under the couch cushions, shit you'd find unclogging a sink, Raiders of the Lost Ark warehouse secrets, and eldritch abominations.

What I've done here was neither careful nor pretty, but I'm showing my work so you'll know what comes next.

If we take the AAT as 9.19 meters long, then I'm pretty sure I've laid out 74 AATs along the length of this ship, which works out to 680.06 meters total. I'd note that the Wook lists two measurements for the AAT, the 9.19 you listed and which it sources to Stars Wars: The Force Awakens: Head to Head, and a 9.32 meter length it cites from Star Wars Complete Vehicles, New Edition. If you use the 9.32 meter length, then your math becomes 74 * 9.32 = 689.68 meters long. Hope that helps you some, anon.

yeah, the core is not that fragile and it's still flexible but the idea was that even if it breaks I can easily just remove trace of it ever being there. Wanted it to look like they're trudging through mud, weird brush and rock in an autumnal forest on some backwater planet that's why one of the running stormtroopers is running across rocks, another through two pieces of that brush, some are standing over or near logs and rocks etc. I based the colors of the rocks on the rocks in the forest around my town. The only thing I got for terrain was mud(I think is Vallejo) and a bag of those leaves so I just went around the house and tried to see what could I add to get the look I wanted since I'm new at this it was fun experimenting

How did Mandalorians become more cringe than Force sensitives?
>>
>>97078621
It started with Karen Traviss making her super special mano culture, then Lucas (and later Disney) retconning the culture in TCW to be the exact opposite for a bad plotline, then Disney trying to overcorrect and make mandos seem cool again once the mando show became a success.

Thing is, they always have been this cringe. Ever since the 90's, when they expanded Boba Fett's backstory. That's when Mando's first got into the world. Then it REALLY hit the fan with KOTOR's 1 and 2 bringing Mando's to the more normie masses. After that, Mando's were literally everywhere in the fanfic/roleplay community and they were all the exact same hyper-competent, gunsling, honour-warrior.

This probably an out of place question,

Tried to make a campaign where the characters were clone troopers and I wanted to do a tiamat module but reskin it for star wars. Now they happily take orders... from gangsters...

Been playing in a game (SW5e) as a clone trooper. I just wanted to make a support character but despite having 3 Jedi in the party, one wants to either swindle everyone or fuck them, the other is a raging murderhobo, the only one that actually roleplays as a Jedi is the one roleplaying a padawan who is horrified by the killing he has to do in a warzone.
Leaving me to constantly bark orders at the party while constantly reminding them that I will follow any order they do give me because that's what I do as a clone. But no one wants to give me any suicidal orders.
At this point, I'm just waiting for the GM to send me a secret Order 66. I'm the big gun and explosives expert. They don't see anything wrong with me hoarding the thermal detonators. Yet.
>>
>>97081194

what the fuck that is not what Jedi do
>other one wants to either swindle everyone or fuck them
also not how Jedi really do things.

>>

Like I said, the only one who is remotely competent at roleplaying a Jedi is the one who is roleplaying one that is scared of murder.
We also have a medical droid (clankah), a real murderhobo (bounty hunter) and an ewok that can do tech things.
Like I said. Order 66 can't come fast enough.

There's the Star Wars Genesis mod for Starfield. That has the major problem of being built off of Starfield, though it does make the gunfights more lethal and thereby less boring.

Zero Company, the XCOM-like coming next year, is also supposed to allow for Jaden-like creation of the main character, and given the inspiration your troops might also be customizable.

Canonically, the galaxy is split from "north" to "south" by a hyperspace anomaly that makes travel between the "eastern" and "western" halves very difficult. Despite the name, the so-called "unknown regions" aren't actually unknown. People know what's there, at least in broad strokes, but they remain much less explored than the eastern half of the galaxy and the Republic never bothered trying to colonize the region.
