>>97045681>TQ10 BP&CCW Scouts. I just think they're neat.
>>97045681>What do you consider the most pointless unit in your army list?Terror squad. Its also one of the most expensive (between the squad, attached centurion and rhino its like 450pts)

>>97045839Why do they call it a laser sight if it shoots lasers?
>>97045910combi-las
>>97045681>What do you consider the most pointless unit in your army list?General or specific? General recon marines. Specific Mor Deythan. They both seem great on paper, like at the very least they will make an opponent hide certain units. But in practice by the time theyre relevant the game is effectively over. Mor Deythan got double nerf'd, not saying they didn't need one. They just go too much of a heavy hand. The rending change alone was enough, but needing to sit still and get LoS means the opponent has nothing left to shoot them.
>>97046143How did MD get double nerfed? Crits auto-breach (at D2)
>>97046003
>>97045723Meh, I'd rather print these
>>97045681>TQStupid Terror squad. 1W, you just need to say boo! and they die.
>>97045681Elvis, desu. A single heavy weapon in AaF isn't very useful, consuls don't get the special rule so they're not gonna give VP for dying and aren't gonna win any melee for Blade of the Just, I have to waste the AaF characteristic bonuses to mimic terminator armor, AND I'm using a paragon of battle slot for him. But I gotta.
>>97046151Rending alone doesn't create AP, Im talking more on the combi volkite build. That change alone was sufficient, and needed. Now to Fatal Strike you also have to have not moved. So if you need to move to get LoS your sniper rifles you can't Fatal, which means you could chase nothing and your opponent moves out of LoS to dodge them. Every time I got a Fatal off was because there was not enough alive to shoot them first. Deploy the MD in an aggressive spot and they will eat autocannons or your opponent will just ignore them by hiding characters. They're a unit that really punishes opponents avoidable mistakes, but are hard to use for their intended purpose. Especially in such an aggressive game format that is usually over end of turn 2.I am happy they got options back, and adding the sabre I feel seen and its sick. But they just aren't allowed to pop off anymore.
>>97046237Don't forget TS get better Fatal Strike with any unit on the move all game.
>>97046237Okay, yea, the volkite (and shotgun) builds were nerfed. Their power is now in their nemesis bolter builds.

Are the new HH infantry models compatible with old 40 Tacticals' arms and heads?I'm think about bashing together some unholy abominations to use in both systems
>>97047667To an extent. 40k (and even older 30k mk3) heads are noticeably bigger. Most arms are compatible because torso width isn't that different, but 40k marine fists are bigger, so if you mix arms/hands one will disproportionate.
>>97047046fuck i can't unsee it,
>>97046265aux grenade launchers were a cool concept, but having a barrel no bigger than a bolter was always kinda meh. still cool tho.

Gonna stick these on a warlord's carapace. What a privileged life I lead to have so much to build.
>>97046650I really like those kneepads.
Genuine question. How are the PDFs still the same, relatively low-quality scans from the start of the edition? I recall the last edition we had functionally perfect scans much earlier.

Amongst all my eight bazillion goddamn characters I STILL actually need to make a vigilator worthy of being a BS9 muthafucka and I'm still thinking of a jump herald with a power fist to be an absolute dickhead and maybe even a new Master of Signals with a six-shooter like a space cowboy.Has anyone got any ideas for a cool rifle or bits for a BS8-9 vigilator? The official resin model is great but naturally I'd like to make my own dude as well.

Damn, other anons weren't kidding when they said the interemptor's Mk III armour looks good. Such a shame FW imploded, resin might be obnoxious to deal with, but the details are just incredible when it all goes right.

>>97046650They already sell mkiv for a decade or just 3d print
Good source for space marine tabards and loincloths preferably from bits stores? I don't wanna greenstuff all of them
>>97049833Anon there has literally never been an edition where an armistos is actually good, a centurion with a heavy weapon is cool as gimmick but pretty useless in practice because a single heavy weapon has limited impact and wastes the melee capabilities of a centurion since they encourage standing still.
>>97049892Just use him as a pimped out heavy support sarge instead then.
>>97046264nemesis bolters suck cock in 3rd. 1 shot breaching 5+ dmg1 instead of kraken bolters with 2 shots breaching 4+ dmg1.The enemy has to intentionally spend their turn to drive their unit specifically into view of the Mor Dreythan that they know are there (and can simply measure to stay out of line of sight of them) to allow them to be stationary in order for MD to get their one single time crit5+ to make the nemesis do more than tickle damage. That is not viable for an expensive glass cannon unit with 3+ armor.Hell, if you had 1000 points for 30 mor dreythan all stationary, that's only 10 crits and crits killing 5 terminators with the snipers using their only-one-use-per-game ultra ability and the opponent kindly not having the termies ride in any transports or stand behind any houses.TS does that with one autocannon squad stationary on same spot, scoring 10 breaches killing 5 terminators, for 310 points instead of 995 points.
>>97049842he specifically said nuMkIV not the old midget ones that'd look like your little brother is trying to tag along.
>>97049956>drive their unit specifically into view of the Mor DreythanI mean, with how important objectives are now, people don't exactly have much choice. Put any good shooting unit down with LOS to one or more objectives, and your opponent has to chose between hiding and probably losing on VP or take the risk of getting shot.
>>97049992monopose lanklet
What unit do AL players like to kidnap from the other rosters? Was thinking Dark Furies just because their models are cool but I could also run an Incaendius.
>>97050065Whatever they fancy pretty much. Now that all command squads go up to 10 and lernaean have become top tier, there no longer is a gap in the standard AL roster that has to be filled using Rewards of Treason.
>>97050065Currently building some Night Raptors to go with my Master of Decent. One hilarious blender to balance out all the sneaky stuff.Probably not the best thing for RoT, but I don't have any Huscarls.
>>97050079Tell me about the Lernaeans, is it because they get Line? Picked up 30k+AL just because they looked cool and I'm trying to build my list out.Figured I'd have to go more sniper/shooting focused for AL, but if they're busted I wouldn't mind painting more.
>>97049892Also true. Really there’s a difference between good and usable. 3.0 chaplains ,despite having an obvious change people don’t like, is still good. Compare that to a bs5 hss Sgt with an ability that doesn’t matter most of the time taking up a command slot. Armistos falls below that line where you could ever justify using it
>>97050092>WS 5>3 attacks each, 4 on the sarge>Hatred marines>Conversion beamer for small AP 3 blast at >15 inch>Line 1>Can take any melee weapon option you'd want>Very reasonable point costThey're pretty much all you would want from a terminator unit. Keep 'em cheap with a 5 man unit, camp a backline objective and blast enemy troops with the conversion beamer, or load up and go lock down hotly contested objectives near or in the enemy's deployment. Such a flexible unit.
>>97050108I've thought about a 5 man unit in a Land Raider Explorator coming in turn 3 to cap something on the enemy back line. By that point what will they have left to deal with it.
>>97050134Having that many points waiting in reserves until turn 3 is a bit wasteful, might wanna put a regular tactical squad in the explorator at that point. The whole advantage of lernaean is that they can fight pretty much anything standing on or near objectives, so would want them to arrive earlier to also do some damage in addition to scoring points.
>>97049302PSYCHO MANTIS????
>>97050467PISS OCELOT???
Now that it's been roughly half a year since these boys were unveiled, how do you feel about the rollout of the new Saturnine stuff? In terms of crunch, models and/or fluff.
>>97045681Rampagers, now that they lost jump packs. They're just worse assault veterans with complete reliance on a transport that jacks their cost way past assault vets. I'm not even mad about falax blades, they were busted and needed to be reined in, but I am mad about the jump packs. Especially since every other legion unique assault unit got them back in legacies, but even post-errata, nothing. At least butchers are usable now.
>>97050496I don't really like the models, speaking as one that loves terminators.Feels like a yet another bridge unit between termies and dreadnought that was not really needed.I can understand why some like them but they're not for me
>>97049363They have a Patreon tier where you get sets of STLs for heads, arms, guns, backpacks etc each month(and a "token" to get the character model they do based on the patreon polls for free when you next order stuff from them) but yeah the bodies are physical resin only. If you're that poor it's a concern then just buy some blustuff and one set of what you want and recast them.
>>97050496The models are meh. I do like "heavy terminators" but the weird eagle and the trims on the legs with the lobster abdomen just looks off to me.The weapon options are mind boggling, only desint and plasma as ranged weapons? Why?I do expect more options down the line but as of now I'm not interested in getting some.I do think the particle shredders looks quite spiffy so I wouldn't mind seeing those expended into a weapon family for everything else.TL;DR: it's okay, but 3.0 is really, really lackluster, not living up to the 2.0 start nor even the 1.0 waves.
>>97050496I hate that they have melee options. I just can't imagine them having enough dexterity to swing at anything.
>>97050673Then you must hate dreadnoughts with melee weapons even more, lol.
>>97050496>fluffJust a small gripe here. The fluff insistently works the angle of Saturnine armor requiring a minimum level of psychic sensitivity in order to be properly operated. That on its own is whatever, but it gets repeated a lot as if that's supposed to be what's cool about it. What I think could be repeated more is that the suits incorporate an entirely different power generator from other terminator patterns, and that's what lets wearers spam their giant energy weapons. But that point is hardly emphasized at all.The fluff presentation truly annoys me.
>>97050493JUST LIKE IN MY ANIMES
>>97050496The psychic angle on the armor is retarded, the look is meh, their role in the game is kinda pointless
>>97050496>CrunchHaven't gotten the time to paint them yet, but my saturnine termies are assembled with all options magnetised. Will try all the configurations, but on paper the two best load outs seem to be: dual plasma to abuse barrage 1, or twin heavy disintegrator and particle shredder as a more flexible option to deep strike or ride in a transport.Have already used the dreadnought in a number of games with dual heavy plasma bombard, and it's proven more impactful than it seemed on paper. It's tough enough that most people don't even bother trying to kill it, and barrage 1 on the large blasts means it will kill infantry each shooting phase. No reason not to overload all the time with how safe it is against hitting itself, and will do serious damage to all infantry, doesn't matter if it's chaff or terminators. In the process of painting the other magnetised weapon options, really look forward to see how fast it can kill itself with two disintegrator cannons lol.The praetor is a solid brick wall that hits like a truck in melee, usually gets avoided after reaching melee once. Steep point cost, but seems justified so far. >ModelsThey look alright. The terminators do need a loin cloth or something to look good though. The dreadnought seems a bit needlessly oversized, without the shoulderpads and larger legs it's basically the same size as a leviathan dreadnought. The praetor looks better the less bling you put on the model.>FluffThe origins and some of the specific legions' stuff is pretty cool, but they should have kept saturnine tech more rare and less widespread. Vulkan and the Salamanders suddenly having entire companies of saturnine terminators at Istvaan V that were never mentioned before is just a blatant marketing driven retcon.
>>97050496They do not look like HH models. Their niche isn't interesting and it's a waste of a reference.
>>97050743Tbh the psychic aptitude being necessary is kind of a moot point since all space marines have at least some minimal psychic aptitude because of their geneseed.I don't believe there has ever been in lore a blank astartes
>>97050496I like how they were implemented mechanically (niche specialist unit, does its own thing without necessarily feeling like competition to existing terminator variants, very well balanced) but I would never use them and think theyre kinda ugly.
What was the Rangdan?an entire civilization of- or an outbreak of The Thing(s)?
>>97050496>SaturnineKinda shit. They suffer because of how charging works now, so you basically gotta waddle them up the board.Their melee optiosn kinda blowTheir shooting options are even worseThe best load out for them is the stock load out of 1 plasma bombard and 1 power fist. Overall a wet fucking fart of a unit, and worst of all, a completely unnecessary one. Saturnine are the reddit terminator armor varient, the only people who ever stroke off to it, are secondary redditors who only say they want the armor but never actually play with it, or give a shit. Its the same thing as Krieg, the only reason people stroke off death korps is because its hip and gets you upvotes to say you like them.Same thing with saturnine. TL;DR, wet far of a unit and launch.
>>97051103>an entire civilization of- or an outbreak of The Thing(s)?Little Column A little Column B. IIRC the Rangdan were a species but they had the technology to sort of like control and enslave other races very easily.
>>97050496They confirm for me there's such a thing as too much pauldron.I've seen some termies with them reduced/removed and it's much better.
>>97051228Their design also looks like shit, the flared out leg armor looks off to the general theme of HH. The segmented armor as well feels odd.
>People begging for heavy weapon toting terminators since forever>GW finally releases terminators who all wield heavy weapons>"These terminators have no niche, it is a pointless unit"It's funny how easy you can spot the trolls and tourists.
>>97051285Nice revisionist history Its more like>People have wanted a Ranged terminator option for a while>GW says "We got you senpai">Proceeds to release the most lack luster goofy ass looking ranged terminators possible>Even their base load out is meh>Their upgrades are more of a threat to themselves>Gave us a solution to a problem no one is having.Funny enough the siege terminators are more in line with what people want and they are actually wroth taking, Saturnine is a meme unit that no one in large volumes actually wanted.
Somebody feeling a little called out lmao
>>97051285I actually hoped that they wouldn't, as they would steal the already flimsy niche of Siege Tyrants. And they didn't....but man did Tyrants get worse regardless
>>97050496I would care about Saturnines if their plasma was AP2 lol. I don't see much use of plasma at all in 3.0, actually
>>97051332This is the mind of a nogamesPlasma still fucks
>>97051332>I don't see much use of plasma at allThat's because you never play, nogames-sama
>>97051283I actually like the design apart from the shoulders. I think it really comes together with the cape on the back and the deep-set helmet is probably kind of retarded in practicality but it looks cool.Legs look pretty in-line with other 30k shit I've seen but I don't have a Saturnine in person to look at right now.
>>97050651>3.0 is really, really lacklusterI don't mind the changes to the core rules, if anything I think they're a net improvement. That's despite my maintaining the opinion that a new edition was completely unwarranted and unwanted.Mostly what pisses me off about 3e is the stripping out of options in the libers and the shift from hefty campaign books to the stingy little journals.
>>97051489IMO the thing about 3.0 is this.3.0 core rules 7/10 very meh overall not great, not bad its what ever3.0 Liber 4/10 holy shit did these shit the bedoverall its like a 5/10 edition, brought down by the liber rules.
>>97051103They were fox people.
>>97051508If 3.0 libers rate that low, holy hell I don’t wanna know what you’d rate 2.0 at. Even ignoring how unbelievably shit most non la/lh armies were you still had legions that just debuffed you for trying to play them
>>970517162.0 loyalist was like 6/102.0 Traitor was like 3/10 so like a 4 overall. The big issue was balance in 2.0 libers were bad bacause it skewed HEAVY toward loyalist and they had some glaring issues across the board with rules like brutal and sunder on fucking las canons.
>>97049363That's not tortuga, this one is literally free on cults. Butcher something, just search for cataphractii.

>>97050496I was one of the shitters when the leaks came out, but as we got more shots and details for them I became more of a fan, especially when I got my hands on one myself. They're still a little goofy and I'm printing loincloths for all of mine, but their kit is I think the best one for heresy since the contemptor in terms of being fun to put together, the implied lore of the pilots being nuggets and the way they filtered into the legions is rad, and I find the idea of a marine exosuit cool.

>>97051892>>97051749it should be called Frenchhammer, John French's blatant biases were all over 2.0 and it just sucked the life out of the edition almost from launch.that said people forget the flaws of 1.5 - vehicles were just strictly better than marines 9 times out of 10, which was pretty lame when all the cool models and legion specifics were marines and not tonks
>>97054596I agree that a lot of 2.0 was fucked because of favoritism in legions. Like if you played a loyalist legion, odds are 2.0 was fine for you, otherwise get fucked. Also yes, 1.5 people forgot how toward the end how fucking much of a parking lot 1.0 became. Literally one of the greatest armies was just dracon transport spam.
>>97054651i understand what the design philosophy originally was - marines dying horribly to losttech vehicles in brutal war, which were in turn lost in the cataclysm. the problem became vehicles were best for killing marines, and vehicles were also best for killing vehicles. there were lots of specific issues but to this day i think the biggest common issue was the ubiquity of ceramite plating. just without that 2.0 immediately made tanks less oppressive, for all its many other flaws
>>97054696Well it was also how common Pie plate AP3 was and Pie plate AP2. Shit was litearlly all over theplace i mean FFS people forgot that the earthshaker was board wide AP3
>>97054596>>97054651I haven't forgotten how oppressive vehicles and artillery were in back then. Was a poorfag at the time, so could only afford the plastic infantry from the B@C set. So many units that were criminally under-costed in points that could easily eradicate three, four times their point cost in infantry each shooting phase. It was horrible.Stuck with it though, and the unforgiving nature of each game really taught me how to understand the game dynamic and win conditions. 2.0 and 3.0 have been feeling like easy mode in comparison lol. Have had to regularly take sub-optimal lists to ensure ppl still want to play against me, and still got a positive win ratio.
James isn’t familiar with the concept of fixing a rule set rather than vomiting a whole new one with a whole new set of problems.
>>97055166You just noticed? The whole point of a new edition is to justify the new edition not make the game better.
Is it just me or are the new MK2 heads bigger than the new MK3 and 6 heads?I just got a box of the assaults and their helmets are the same size as my old tactical marine MK7s

I feel illiterate HHG. I want to ally a questoris knight to my loyalist IH. The thing cant count as an ally as the knights main crusade force detachment cant be used for allies. But it can count as a Lord of war since its battlefield role is a lord of war and the lord of war detachment can be used for any faction INCLUDING knights right?
>>97056904This is the case, yes, and if you select the Freeblade household type (which you should) it gets a Household Rank as if it was in one of the prime slots that Knight primary forces get. Battlesmith Knight or Fear (2) knight can be very handy.

I have 6 regular saturnites with plasma and fist and I do not know what to do with them. My army is Death Guard, but a friend who plays Night Lords wants to trade them off from me for special and heavy weapons(10xheavy flamer, 5xheavy plasma) and 10 tacticals (mk6). I am thinking about trading, but maybe there is a good way to use saturnites in a Death Guard army?
>I want YOU for the taghmata!
>>97057213Plasma saturnines are great if your opponents are running loads of power armor/small arms. Theyre a bitch to kill with shooting, ignore LoS and can just shit out small blasts at medium range. Put them midfield and let them make space for you.
>>97057394is using the fist+plasma okey. Or am I to look for extra plasma ? At some point I was thinking about as dual plasma replacment for quad gun armed rapiers, that I don't own. But then the store rules guy told me DG "count as not moving" doesn't work for the dual guns. You convinced me. I will keep them. It is always points and my army isn't very large, so I could play 1000+1000pts dual games with them. Plus my friend really wants them, and him not having them feels good. Now I wish I haven't traded the saturnite pretor for two centurions.
>>97057434I think both have some value. Having fists (and presumably shredders) lets you remain fairly scary when people get close. Youre a real objective hog at that point. Dual guns have more dakka, but theyre vulnerable to getting jumped and locked in combat (or just cleaned up). Not sure about the interactions with your legion trait though.
>>97057449Well it is good to know that they are okey with fist and plasma. Now I just have to learn how to paint big models, so I can use them in games. The tacticals were a paint, till I learned that it is better to paint the helmets back packs and bolters+1arm separate . those big boys feel in some parts, as if the model designer decided to just hate someone with low or entry level painting skills.
Also am I stupid for thinking, it would have been better for players, if GW instead of giving use 2 desintegrators&the desinegrator sprue, that no one wants to use, on any type of model, should have just given us 2 fist options for the saturnites. Or am I stupid thinking that?
So. Has GW just sort of squatted the Carnodon tanks? They were conspicuously absent from all the latest solar auxilia releases, not even ligma. the aurox has only faired slightly better in that GW at least acknowledges that they used to sell such a thing. i guess they never sold well, maybe it's hard to justify using rhinos and shittier predators in the army with russes, dracosians and malcadors
>>97055633Plasma should be ap4 breaching 5+Over charge should be AP3 Breaching 4+
>>97057578Plasma is fine as is. Mechanically it does solid damage into its intended targets. If you mean "for the fantasy"? Then plasma should be statted (and costed) like current disintigrators. And current disintigrators should be replaced with something more in line with their old niche (S5 Ap2 Damage 3 overload(2) 1 shot r24, big pts cost)
>>97057213>plasma and fist saturnine>Death guardYou fucked up
>>97057620Nah the reason i say this is because Plasma should be the premier MEQ killer. doing 1 damage but being raw AP3 with a chance to punch into TEQD guns (which honestly should not exist) should be AP3 raw, breaching 4+ but be 2 damage designed to be pointed at vet squads and gamble on TEQ.While the Melta should be AP2 raw and like 3 damage.
>>97057630So what should they have been? Not the desintergrators that kill themselfs each time they miss.
>>97057638Plasma IS the premier MEQ killer, or at least its better than all the other weapons you mentioned. A squad of 10 plasma guns has a much higher damage output into MEQ than a squad of 10 disintegrator blasters (or guns, or whatever the str 4 ap3 ones are called).
>>97057652if we played Squads per squads then yes. But 10 plasma dudes cost A LOT of points for something that is a gamble, and a really big gamble in to +2sv stuff. And I say this as a plasma afficionado.
>>97057646I will shill double plasma saturnine until the day I die, especially in DG since they can move almost their full movement and still double shoot
>>97057669>But 10 plasma dudes cost A LOT of points for something that is a gambleIt costs less than 10 dudes with meltaguns or disintegrators (I believe). Plasma is no longer some super expensive risky weapon. Its just a generic resonable damage midrange weapon. Plasma TSS arent running in to get some clutch shots off do or die style, theyre sitting back putting 20 shots out at 20", and overloading if they want to go into harder targets like dreads or terminators.
>>97057670hmm I guess the rules guy at my store lied to me then. Because I was told that my legion trait does not work with saturnite double plasma bombardment. that it only works on stuff like bolters etc.
>>97057693>the rules guy at my storePOLISH ALERT
>>97057693Iirc the rule is "they get the benefit of being stationary if they move 4" or less". So depending on the wording it should very much work. Since the saturnine one is "if they were stationary in the movement phase, fire both guns"
>>97057670>>97057693>>97057717The polish retards are indeed correct in this case, the death guard trait only let's you count as stationary for the purpose of heavy (not even ordnance), it doesn't work with the saturnine two gun rule
>>97057685yeah, but who has meltaguns or disintegrators. You can get 10 dudes with plasma just by having a few rhinos, vindicators and predators. Desitegrators would require you to buy the 3.0 ed set, and no one did that. At least with heavy plasma everyone can use the metal ones everyone have 8-12 of for w40k.
>>97057693I double checked (I don't play DG) and he's right, their rule specifies it only gives you the benefit of heavy (x), not that you count as stationaryI still think they're good in DG but they aren't as autoincludy as I thought they were
>>97057740>(not even ordnanceDo any infantry weapons even have that? I was going to say Rapiers but those are heavy now.
>>97057742All is good then. I am starting to warm up to the idea of a fist+plasma dudes. I always wanted a leviathan with plasma bombard, but the kit is just so expensive. Now I could have 6 of "mini" leviathans. I need to start looking for some guides how to make them look like death guard.
>>97057748Try washes. Prime them a white/bone color, and then grime them up with washes/oils/streaking grime
>>97057620Plasma is not fine.
>>97057813ThisPlasma is dog shit, there is a reason why no one bothers running it outside of like 2 varients the large plasma blast that has a 4+ breaching and the other being a legion specific one on the dark angels.
Hey guys, I’m wanting to make a militia army using kinfolk helots as the primary and undecided for the second trait. But as far as modeling is concerned would kitbashing utilizing iron head prospectors and kharadron overlords be a neat idea?
>>97058037That's kind of what kinfolk helots was made for, yes.
>>97058037If you grab the provenance that gives you volkite options there are lots of votann weapons to use
>>97057813But it is, its literally mathematically fine. Its a perfectly good anti meq weapon and the heavier variants are decent for anti teq stuff too.
>>97058126From my experience in games plasma is fine, which is why I just ignore ppl whining about it. The only plasma weapon that isn't worth bringing is comb-plasma, being limited 1 with only breaching 6 just can't compete with the other combi-weapon options.
>>97058251Plasma pistols and cannons generally aren't really worth their points in my experience, either
>>97058274>>97058251In my expereince the only plasma worth taking for the point cost is the executioner plasma and the plasma flamers for Dangels every other plasma has just been a let down. I just hate that plasma specifically was nerfed to prop up D guns which also fucking suck.
>>97058274Nah plasma cannons are great, even a 5 man hss can stack up a crazy number of hits and kill stuff through sheer number of saves forced. I even have models with plasma pistols, they're worth their 5 pts cost.
These guys must have some powerful thighs to throw around these gams.
>>97048529GW can't even do that with their own miniatures that only they make so what is the difference?>>97055761Looks the same to me
>>97058288Plasma TSS got significantly cheaper than last edition, going from 245 to 180 before wargearTaking that into account, they actually cost less points per wound caused against pretty much every reasonable target (and they don't need to be fused to a rhino to function anymore)30->27 ppw vs. MEQ57->54 ppw vs. TEQ (cata)47->44 ppw vs. TEQ (tart)55->54(lol) ppw vs. DEQ (cont)82->61 ppw vs. DEQ (levi)Your plasma guns got worse on a model by model basis, but you're allowed to bring so many more of them now that they got better in the grand scheme of things

>>97058954my dudes in full "glory".
>>97058964Im not going to sugar coat it, theyre rough. But thats just how starting goes.I advise you to get a can of bone color primer, helps you get a nice even base coat (doing lighter colors over darker colors is hard). and then you can use washes to give it some depth back (and then go from there)The actual color scheme though? That you seem to have figured out.
>>97058838why wouldn't a Terran use a commonly understood sign language
>>97058838That's assuming there's no translating going on. Machines can interpret the signals and turn them into text or voice. Also, it's apparently easier to read than to sign.
>>97058964That's a good start anon, no need to be embarrassed.Your brush control and paint dilution need some work, but you clearly have some understanding what you're trying to achieve. You'll improve as you gain more experience and a better understanding of how paint behaves (how much to load onto your brush, how thin or thick, and how it will flow off your brush under those circumstances).Suggestions:Use a wet palette, it saves paint and helps you learn to control the paint better (colour mix, dilution and flow). You can buy one or make a very effective DIY one for a few dollars:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLcuicvJFKoTwo thin coats of paint creates a nice even finish. Don't rush this. There's a reason everyone keeps repeating it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28DbD9JwQCIThe rest is just improving your neatness and learning how to make painting your particular army scheme as easy as possible. For example you could leave the shoulder pads off your marines and paint them separately since they're a different colour. This will make it easier to get your brush into hard to reach spots, and make it easier to paint the metal rims of the shoulder pads without making a mess. Mount the shoulder pads on some toothpicks using poster putty (blue-tack) and try painting them separately. Your neatness will probably improve significantly just by doing that.

Sure Volkite isn't AP3, but neither is Plasma two thirds of the time. Unlike Disintigrators, which are sitting in Plasma's old slot, after rudely shoving it out onto the dirt. Except... at the end of the day, how enamoured are any of us with Overload weapons in this edition without rerolls? The only people who could make Plasma good are the guys who literally get their own, better Plasma that synergizes with their special rules and don't need to take it.

>>97060460I actually got why the official list of main books are the way it is because it seems like they only picked the good ones
>>97060192>Sure Volkite isn't AP3, but neither is Plasma two thirds of the timevs T4 portable volkite is always AP5, portable plasma is always AP4; you don't test to breach vs 4+ armour so volkite's only advantage over plasma vs Solar Aux is weight of shots and the hope of deflagrate; but even at BS4 wounding on 2s you're only getting about 1/4 of the unsaved Wounds back as Deflagrate hits and of those only 40% do anythingwith plasma at BS4 each shot has a 55% chance of removing SA troops, about twice as likely as volkitethe same is true vs MEQ etc though as saves scale and toughness scales Breaching does come into its own; vs 2+/4++ terminators maximal plasma (B5+) is 1/9 to an unsaved Wound while volkite (at S5 vs T5) is 1/18, half as likely; this gets worse vs higher T units (like Saturnines and Dreads, or anything with a T bonus from another rule); the S5 variety becomes 1/27 and the S6 1/18plasma (maximal breaching 5+) vs those T6 units (except Saturnines) becomes 1/9 (or 1/18 without breaching) and 1/9 vs Saturnines (or 1/27 without breaching)more shots does not mean fractions of wounds, it means more chances to inflict damage; but if those chances are much less likely then making more of them just leaves you puking your egg slut into a gutter off the strip
>>97060192To expand on what >>97060803 said, the points per wound don't make volkite any better (on TSS, at least)>Volkite chargers vs. Plasma guns19->16 ppw vs. SAEQ42->27 ppw vs. MEQ135(lol)->54 ppw vs. TEQ (cata)135->44 ppw vs. TEQ (tart)You aren't shooting volkite at dreadnoughts Plasma, mechanically, is perfectly fine compared to other special weapons even if it doesn't live up to the power fantasy

What is the point of the MASSIVE seam gaps between the plates on the lower legs of the new mkII? It's clearly not articulated, nor would it need to be. I get that it's the first generation of true PA, and was mass produced, but if it's due to poor tolerances in Imperial machining, that's both pathetic and contradictory. Also, why put the power cables on the front of the thighs instead of on the rear like on the greaves? Are they retarded?
>>97061395>Asking for realistic manufacturing explanations as to why toy soldiers look the way they doFine. Here anon: it's because the mechanicum found it difficult to mass manufacture armor panels with double-curved surfaces. They realized it was more efficient to break up the greaves into 3 interlocking pieces made up of single curved surfaces, this significantly reduced overall machining time. This problem was solved by the time the MkVI armor went into production because they managed to retool to manufacture more complicated shapes with better overall protection.

Thats not to say they dont create new tech in the process but the vast majority of it is just rediscovered shit. If you have any aptitude for tech you end up going into the mars cult. The whole sale new designed shit is all done under the mechanicum, they dont give a shit if bob on backwardia 5 in the smegma segmentum of the galaxy makes a hair dryer, that tech is not important, they would give a shit if bubba found a new way to make plasma grenades more effective or suddenly designed a vortex grenade because thats tech they regulate.
>>97064280There's BFG lore where unique attack craft are actually created on carriers "by artisans" which I always assumed to be sanctioned inventors
>>97064032>That is in itself 30k nuloreSince RT all power armour marks were made without an STC and improved along the way using new materials and technologies. Land Speeders just had an STC for the grav-plates, everything else was someone sitting down and designing a craft around them. Terminator armour took an existing exo-suit design and turned it into a weapon. Back in the day there was even development after the Heresy, which is why, for example, in 2e CSM plasma weapon are more dangerous than Imperial ones, as they're older and less proven technology, while Imperials perfected them and made them safer. Until 3e gave all plasma Gets Hot!
>>97064490>RTAnon i hate to be that guy but a lot of that shit has been retconned out, even things in 2nd ed has a lot of stuff retconned out. If anything most modern continuity for warhammer starts in 3rd, and pulled specific things from 2nd and RT.

>>97066103We never needed leviathan dreadnoughts either, castraferrum is peak dreadnought design. Contemptors only get a pass because they look like some old artwork dreads.

I feel like a problem with 3.0 (and 2.0) is that GW and the community has become scared to actually have dangerous weapons. Phosphex in the lore is one of the most horrific and lethal weapons in the Imperium's arsenal, and they originally only used it on the worst alien species. But with each new edition it's less and less deadly, and less and less fun.Part of the fun of 1.0 was how much stuff was lethal and the massive casualty rate that would accumulate over games.Playing with my friends we would start with 3000 point armies and by turn 5 the table would be covered in burning tank husks, with a handful of marines fighting tooth and nail over the objectives. I remember watching tactical squads get destroyed in a matter of seconds. Land Raiders getting a Lascannon shot through the engine, blowing up and taking some of the guys in the HSS out with it. Phosphex burning away squads of marines and turning the ground into a hellscape for both sides to cross.2.0 games never felt that visceral or destructive, even though people swear by how unbalanced some of the stuff was, and I haven't played any 3.0 because I don't like the rules, but it looks like they nerfed even more stuff to being less powerful. The game used to be brutal and I really miss that side of it.
>>97066291>has become scared to actually have dangerous weaponsI think its a bit more nuanced then that. Its not a matter of we should not have deadly weapons, its that the AMOUNT you can spam it is the problem. For example im fine with Phosphex being like AP3 raw, and then aslo being breaching 4+ and even having deflagate, Shit im even fine it being Raw AP2 but it needs to be priced accordingly. The problem became in 1 is that that they went WAY to hard on making a lot of VERY powerful weapons very cheap and very accessible.
>>97066291>The game used to be brutal and I really miss that side of it.Imma be honest with you anon, im pretty sure you THINK you miss that, because let me tell you from personal experience Showing up to a game to just pick models up off the table because your opponent brought nothing but AP2 large templates is not a fucking fun system. Because then it just pushes you to do the same thing. Trust me, im very confident when I say, im pretty sure you THINK you miss it.
>>97065862>making HH tacticoolit's already stupid in 40k, but in 30k it's downright missing the point.
>>97066103No we did not.>>97066103This question should be asked but for the dorito dread. Out of all the dreads THAT one is the most out of place.
>>97062012The Emperor is stronger than any Chaos god, just not all of them. Always been that way. Also, he was holding back, trying to defeat Horus without killing him. It wasn't until Horus deleted that random space marine/Olanius Pius/whoever BL put there that Emps realized Horus couldn't be redeemed and he had to destroy him.Back in the 80s, Emps finding his resolve made the Chaos gods flee from Horus, leaving him completely vulnerable. But Emps had to do what he had to do.
>>97066362Nostalgia goggles for phosphex spam can only come from a carboard within, cardboard without Iron Warriors basic bitch power gamer.
>>97066103See, the good news is that at least there won't be bigger dreads again.Ever.We're done.Please.
>>97066487A warlord titan with a princeps in the liquid tank is technically a dreadnought.
>>97066494No it's not, dreadnought = space marine, this isn't rogue trader anymore
>>97066481Yeah this is why i stand by the opinion of, people who think HH1.0 was the best version of this game either never played it, or never faced a tsons, IW, or Aux player ever. Because holy fuck, 1.0 was not as fun as people made it out to be because the balance was worse then 2.0 2.0 had shit balance because specific RoW and legions mostly loyalist were super busted, but 1.0 fucking every army could spam pie plates and it made it gay if you were trying to make anything other then a parking lot, lets not even get into knights.
>>97066494That was only that one warlord titan that had that system, most other warlord titans just operate like a normal titan pilot.
>>97066503I'm pretty sure all titans can be tank-operated. Just nobody in a warhound or reaver is gonna be old enough to need to
>>97066511IDK if they CAN be, but there was only 1 titan that had that particular design put into it. I dont think you could for a reaver and or a hound because they are to small. Then again now that i think about it, i dont even think it was a warlord that had that system, yeah im pretty sure it was an emperor titan that had that.
>>97066500I helped run multiple narrative events in 1.0. We had a team of 3 of us that would have to vet peoples lists because cunts would bring insane OP shit to a narrative game. Fucking grown men unable to self regulate for fear of losing at warhammer, such weak ass people man.
>>97066533Whats fucking frustrating was, it was not even difficult to skew your list super heavily in 1.0Literally just bringing say, 4 earth shakers which was not a lot of points that was MAYBE 500 points, you could decimate massive chunks of your oponants army with that. Because again, it was RAW ap3.1.0 was insanely easy to break. thats why im convinced that people who have this affection and glory for 1.0 either never played it, or never faced someone who had access to lots of vehicles and or psyker powers, lest we forget magnus who could literally D beam a table and kill multiple UNITS a turn in just his shooting.
>>97066500There was a fucking laundry list of gentlemen's agreements to keep 1.0 somewhat playable. Without it the player who won the roll-off for going first would blast most if not all of the opponent's army off the board immediately. Even with an abundance of limitations most games were still decided by turn 2 because one person just had no units left alive.
>>97066556Excatly, like i wont pretend that 2.0 did not have its busted ass shit, but at least in 2.0 you easily knew who could bring busted shit and spot it from a mile away because you had to explicitly break it. 1.0 even half ass trying to bring strong units if you won the roll off that was it.
>>97066522Tank princeps arenow a regular thing
>>97066583I realized what you meant after a second, but this made me think of a mechanicum baneblade being piloted entirely by one nugget in a MIU because a tech priest was feeling extra >01000111 01100101 01110100 00100000 01101001 01101110 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01110011 01110101 01110000 01100101 01110010 01101000 01100101 01100001 01110110 01111001 00100000 01010011 01101000 01101001 01101110 01101001

>>97066694one of the best books we got from the entire setting.
>>97066618It's a big setting there's room for that
When it comes to LIgma I'm more interested in mechanicum but the ratio of models I want just aren't available
>>97066487Wait until 4e with the Tiamat pattern heavy assault dreadnought. Melee only, S9 T9 W9 with eternal warrior(1) 2+ 4++.Its 15% taller than the saturnine and is movement 4.
>>97066291Phosphex is MASSIVELY impactful in 3.0 though. Far more so than in 2e. It breaches fine, does solid damage, and applies a status debuff that has a reasonable chance to make primarchs run the other way. It literally is a weapon that changes battle lines with a single shot (because whoever you throw it at ran away)
>>97066887No jet pack that was totally always there? And ackshually the blood angels did not have the only outlier jetnaught all this time?
>>97066923That would make it good. And as saturnine shows we cant be having that.
>>97066899It's supposed to though? The whole point if phosphex is you run or you die
>>97066970Im not saying its bad that it does what it does, im saying that you cant point to phosphex in 3e and say "they made all the guns less impactful". Crawling fire was a solid accuracy boost and lingering death was a nuisance. Panic(3) is pants shittingly scary (both literally and "as a thing on a statline")

>>97066291See you THINK that.Because you never played 1.0 with it's fucking retarded pie plate plague pistol of death.
>>97066494No The princeps can still be removed from the titan (and they are, and it often causes then problems as they become essentially addicted to the MIU connection before the machine spirit just consumes their mind). Also, it's only certain patterns of titans that require that level of enhancment (Proxima pattern like those favored by the legio Invicta) and it's only for Warlord class titans (which have machine spirits that are harder to control/commune with). Whatever the case, it's not a more permanent situation like that with dreadnoughts, where once installed they are stuck until the corpse is destroyed (castaferrum) or the pilots nervous system is burned out (contemptor, leviathans, contemptor corvus)
>>97066522It was warlords, it's proxima pattern warlords Not every pattern of titan needs that level, and even Imperator titans don't necessarily require it (see the Imperator Sanguinus destroys, the princeps wasn't in a tank when he broken in and used his gay spear to vaporize everyone). However, to be fair to Imperators, you have multiple moderatii (as in, more than one) to help the princeps bear the burden of the Imperator MIU.
>>97066618Mechanicum doesn't really have super heavy tanks, they just jump straight to titans (knights are a DAoT/Age of expansion tech, Titans were specifically made on Mars and don't necessarily have the same STC origin as Knight tech).
>>97067348>>97067348>>97067348Get your magnifying glasses out
>>97057578Plasma should be full AP2 always. The only problem with plasma was that it was too good and could explode vehicles. That's impossible now, and yet they married to this COWARDLY half measure of SAFE PLASMA? If you want safety, unironically get a meltagun.
>>97064899>It still has AP 3 and breaching 5+They throw breadcrumbs to the floor and yet you lap them up like a dog. Terminators have doubled their Wounds and Phosphex has halved their AP2 against them. Do not settle for less.
