>>97052588>First, what if later the players pesters me about some bullshit reversing or whatever to gain use of itThis is a rather disturbing fear. Have you had experiences with players that would try to push boundaries in the past? If I were your player, asking you, as the DM, to cast this on me, what assurances would you need from me to assuage this fear? I fully intend to break the Geas consistently and regularly; it is used as a perverse inverse reward mechanic for my character, for practicing the teachings of her deity. Is it even possible? Could I request that you take what I scaffolded out, and manipulate it such that it would fulfill your own mechanical requirements?>second of all it would break my sense of consistency because I balance spells differentlyAre you willing to elaborate on this? I can, at least, explain my own thought processes here. I'm a Cleric with a D8 hit die and a modicum of constitution. Under the conditions defined therein, there is no circumstance where I could ever be forced to make death saves by the effect, from full HP. It can simply never deal enough damage, unless I'm vulnerable to one of the damage types. The outdoors damage values are an abstraction of convenience by the divine. The Physic bit is intended for use in dungeons proper: daily guaranteed "level x d6 damage" is too much resource expenditure, even in a casual narrative campaign.>>97052690A 10th level spell is just as wholly uncastable by the game's mechanics as a non-spell. Furthermore, I was restricted by 5e tool's basic functions. If I could have just deleted that block entirely with what knowledge and skill is available to me, I would have. What I did was intend that the spell couldn't be cast by mortal means: I created it as a 10th level spell precisely because it’s impossible for players to cast under normal rules, while still being constrained by the game's mechanics in a way that readable to everyone at the table.reposting from last thread

>>97055202>Are you willing to elaborate on this?Casting time 1 or 8 hours, range touch, saving throw if the target is unwilling (or the "roll until 3 successes or failures" save, like Contagion or Flesh to Stone). This puts it firmly into the realm of reasonable and I wouldn't have much issue with it anymore (I'd still prefer backstory curse with attached damage rolls if the player really wants them). No save and endless range are the biggest offenders, the existence of this spell means the party should logically transform into a gypsy caravan, at all times travelling with every person precious to them because otherwise the BBEG could get ahold of the spell and use it to weaken themAnother issue with an unbalanced level 10 spell is that players may eventually get to cast them, I introduce other level 10 spells already (usually for enemies or as scrolls), a magic item that can "steal" a spell isn't out of question, and the campaign may extend into homebrew epic levels where the players can cast level 10 spells.

>>97056208Well, with all of that taken into consideration, your fears are understandable. I have never, in all my days, even heard of a table that even entertains the idea of seriously using or ever intending to use spells higher than 9th level, let alone actually bring them into common contention; your situation seems unique, outside looking in. Virtually every setting or cosmology I'm aware of establishes that magic of such magnitude is banned by its deities, because of its potential to destabilize that reality. I ended up not changing the spell at all when I gave it to my DM, and he said something to the effect of "Woah. Well, alright." Neither particularly impressed nor disappointed.

I fixed Arcane Archer. Arcane Shots are no longer a resource, you just get one per turn, every turn.
>>97058326That probably breaks things with Banishing Arrow, although that could probably be fixed by just adding an extra restriction to it.It seems downright necessary in the context of making any of the other arrows useful though.
>>97058353Even with infinite AS you still deal less DPR than BM, at range, while receiving zero benefits to melee.
>>97058373Sure, but DPR doesn't matter if you're successfully preventing the target from getting a turn every round. If there's just a lone enemy, it doesn't matter if it takes you 5 rounds to kill it instead of 3 if the enemy only got in 2 round of attacks instead of 3. Killing enemies quickly is only important for giving enemies fewer turns to act. That's why I mentioned Banishing Arrow specifically, because it's the one most likely to break this change. And having infinite Banishing Shot gives very little reason to bother with any of the other options. Better would just be to have the old Arcane Shot resource system apply specifically to Banishing, having it function independently of your other arrows, and then make the rest a free 1/round. That also solves what to do about the level 15 feature.

>>97060985>Removed the original utility-focus of Magical Tinkering, tool expertise, & the ability to attune items from any class/restrictionInto the trash it goes.
>>97061041I'll just keep using the old version des
>>97060985>>97061041I'm not sure why they even removed the Tool expertise, given it's such a minor feature. The replacement does technically seem to be a buff, since now you can drain one of your infusions to regain a spell slot, or use slots to recharge items, but I'm not sure why they felt the need to get rid of the expertise at all. Magical Tinkering it seems like they just swapped it out for being able to basically conjure basic adventuring gear a few times per long rest. Except you need a set of Tinker's tools to use that feature, so instead of paying 50 gp, you could probably already buy everything you'd really wantJust to go through what is on the list:>Candle, Lamp, TorchOutdone by a Light cantrip>Paper, Parchment, Bedroll, Blanket>Basket, Bucket, Flask, Jug, Pouch, Sack, VialThese are things that aren't very useful when they magically vanish after an hour>Block & Tackle, Crowbar, Pole, Rope, Shovel, TinderboxUseful tools, but useful to the extent that you'd probably rather just carry them. It's 23 pounds instead of the 10 for Tinker's tools, and you get to have all of them at all times instead of 3-4 of them for an hour each.>Ball Bearings, Caltrops, Net, OilConsumable hazards, but you'd need to use 50 of them before you break even on the GP cost. And at a rate of 3-4 per day, you're probably hitting mid levels before you even use that many. There's probably a couple I missed, but a lot of what's on there is either entirely useless to conjure for an hour, or something you should have already thought to pack. I was never a big fan of Magical Tinkering either, since it just mimicked a bunch of cantrips, but mimicking cantrips is better than mimicking basic adventuring gear. Unless I'm missing something, it just feels really pointless.I wouldn't say they ruined the class or anything, but I also don't see any real reason why they even bothered to change most of this.

>>97061932I had a player run Battlesmith from 3-14 in 5e and he had fun with it. The defender added solid bulk and because he had sharpshooter, he could easily just hang back and let the defender tie up enemies. Bringing back a lot of HP for a single spell slot is very powerful, to the point where he began to shoot it to bring it down and bring it back up if it was critically damaged. I gave him schizophrenic whispers that he believed were from the defender beginning to gain sentience (it wasn't, he was just a senile old man) to somewhat successfully curtail the behavior.

If their thing is speed, then you could flavor it as such intense speed that they're nearly indistinct while moving and impose disadvantage on attacks made while they're using a Move Action and have them take half damage while moving. Or maybe give them the ability to ram into/through creatures and also have half of the damage they take from AoO rebound on the attacker. This will make it so that players can still engage the enemy, but not without cost, so instead of it getting to just outright ignore AoO or movement penalties there's a game of wagering whether the attacks are worth it. Add in additional effects like rider effects when they move a certain distance or attack after moving and you'll have an interesting zippy enemy for the players to engage with.

If you want the Aasimar part to be more relevant, you can also have their birth be a mystery that could also be solved along the way.

How much 3rd party and homebrew stuff does 5e have? For some reason I just really like how 5e plays compared to 3.5e but I really like the depth of options 3.5e has.

>>97074778Nta, but the whole gag with that quest is that you are put into an X-Files conspiracy, where you are a powerless spectator, all the evidences evaporate and you are left seething that you can't even prove the very real conspiracy you've just exposed. That's pretty much how the myth arc was going through the 90s, before people figured out this is all just bullshit (and before LOST redefined what "bullshit" even means in the TV land). It's one of those zeitgeist things that make no sense whatsoever from modern perspective. Similar is how the game portrays Microsoft and Gates as the dominant power of the IT and makes cheap jokes about Apple and Jobs utter incompetence - made perfect sense in 2000 and was very period-accurate, but just by 2010 it became already complety dated, as Apple overcame Microsoft without even trying (and that time period was easily the worst for MS, too), so you now have to EXPLAIN to people the whole joke. And don't get me started on various wuxia movie references, because they were already vague when the game came out.tl;dr Arcanum is overcrowded with zeitgeist jokes that now fly over people's heads
>>97075898>where you are a powerless spectator, all the evidences evaporate and you are left seething that you can't even prove the very real conspiracy you've just exposed. The difference is that arcanum doesnt just make the half ogres vanish, they are still part of the plot and accompany every other gnome the entire game. if it was just a few gnomes that vanish from the game, sureplus it being weird breeding slaves in detail which x-files obviously never even hinted at makes it less fitting as a reference and more weird kink shit.
>>97075910>Missing the point this hardCan you prove, in-game, by the time the quest wraps, that there is the conspiracy?Do you have, in-game, by the time the quest wraps, any evidence of the conspiracy?Nigga, did you ever saw a single epsiode of The X-Files? Why do I find myself drawn to just playing humans?I'd like to branch out a bit, play elves, aasimar, and tieflings, but I just keep making humans over and over.
>>97077460humans can be anything without hoops needing to be jumped or typecast into one trope or cliche.play a tabaxi that isn't a rogue, play a tiefling that isn't a warlock or paladin. play a gnome that isnt an artificer. people will always side eye you.
>>97077460Humans are familiar and therefore more relatable. Humans are also good with either +1 to all stats or a feat to start with. Also, there are no traits associated with humans so you're free to do whatever.
>>97077460For me, its because almost all concept works with the pc being a human; unless some specific lore stuff is involved (with subclasses like Bladesinger or Bloodrager, but its not like racial restrictions are a thing anymore besides some items).Races usually ends up being pigeonholed into specific fantasy as >>97077474 is pointing out, but 5e races aren't that limiting gameplay wise so any combination can workDoesn't help that mechanically, variant human is very good. If you must use a lycanthrope- a Wererat is SLIGHTLY more balanced than the Werewolf- but not really cause they're level 1 and it has 60 HP which is probably more HP than the entire party has combined. So I'd stick to the Jackalwere and boost its HP (Assuming this is like the Boss) to its max of 28 or maybe even a little more like 35 HP.
>>97080326I'll probably do that.

>cast arcane eye>move eye through portal to another plane to see what's thereIs it RAW?
>>97081555I dunno, is it?
>>97081555Suppose it depends on what you consider a range of 30 feet. The eye going through a portal would obviously make it go further than 30 feet away, but I can also see the argument that your spell range is the distance traveled in a line by the effect, so if it's 5 feet to the portal, you'd have 25 feet worth of travel in a line to work with on the other side of the portal.
>>97081555The 2014 version explicitly says it can't enter another plane of existence. No idea why they changed it, but it does mean that by the 2024 rules, putting it onto another plane is intended, apparently.>>97082585The range of Arcane Eye is only how far away you can initially summon it. The only limit beyond that point is how far it can move within an hour. The spell would be pointless if you had to stay within 30 feet of the eye at all times.

Two groups want me to DM 5e D&D to them but I've never even played any D&D.I always wanted to try it but the only DM I knew hated all things D&D so I mostly played Call of Cthulhu and Vampire the Masquerade.Earlier this year, a girl from art class, asks me if I could master DnD for her and her friends, but the closest to it I ever played (let alone master) was Dungeon World. So I teach them how to play with a one-shot and then run a failed campaign about to be over this month. Now, not only they ask me to play actual DnD once the campaign is finished, but also another group of local artists. How do I run a campaign? Should I start with this one with a one shot? How many books do I have to crunch to be ready? What are some essentials must have for these?
Is making ice for villagers a good way to generate income for wizards during down time?
>>97085037How do you feel about published scenarios? Because besides the DM Guide and Players Guide, there's a lot of options for those if you don't feel comfortable making something yourself in an unfamiliar system.
>>97085037Three really basic, tried and true methods I have used to build a campaign have been the following:1. Sunless Citadel to see if the player group works, intermission one-shot, into Forge of Fury. If you skip the intermission, you can get the entire thing from Tales from the Yawning Portal.2. Death House to test the player group, into Curse of Strahd proper if it works. I made a continuation from 10 to 20 after Curse of Strahd, when the characters got back to their own world.3. Lost Mine of Phandelver from 1 to 5, with a minor intermission in Neverwinter since my players insisted on going there, then built a continuation on all the loose threads from the adventure. This adventure is still ongoing, and they just got to level 8.
>>97085037A module could be a more straightforward way to get into things. That typically makes things a little easier on the DM, and it also means that there's a massive pile of advice you can easily search up for running the module from other sources.Going for one of the starter sets could add to that, depending on if any of them have played before. That also puts you in a position where there's a lot less to learn if you stick with a simpler version of the ruleset. And I am assuming they're also mostly new and inexperienced players if they're insisting on having you as a DM. Otherwise the correct answer is to tell whichever player among them is most experienced that they should run the game instead. The one thing I'll say for absolute certain is that you do not want to exceed 5-6 players as a new DM. That's something I wouldn't even recommend for an experienced DM. Do not under any circumstance let them convince you to make one big combined table of both groups unless it's 6 people at most.
>>97085091>>97085037NTA but if they're more interested in roleplay than combat or other factors, which if they're artists they probably are, they might be interested in Wild Beyond the Witchlight. Sort of magical fey tricks, a bit of lightheartedness, etc.

Although two of them oftenly miss the sessions.I thank you all very much for the advice!
>>97085091I don't know if there's anything official to confirm or deny this statement, but it is my impression that the majority of written modules run from 1 to 10-ish is that after an adventure like that, the DM should be able to do the rest of the work himself for making it go all the way to 20.
>>97085123>How flexible is the system in that regard? How much can I bend it?I'd say the main limit is on numbers. 5e is pretty tight in terms of mechanical bonuses, at least in regards to things like hit-rolls and saving throws.Part of starting with modules is just a good way to get more familiar with some of the system's basic assumptions before trying it yourself. I find that 5e is very easy to homebrew for as long as you keep the system math in mind.

Never played DnD before. What is the best way to get into it? Is finding an online or in person game better? Where should I look for games? I've looked at shops but none of them seem geared towards beginners and I don't wanna absolutely botch someone's campaign being completely new, and the one near by that is beginner friendly has an age limit, (21+). I'm not versed in the nerd scene so this is just like a day and a half of trying to find info sorry if it's retarded, but figured I'd ask people who've already gone through it. I'm in a very very large city so I imagine it wouldn't be too hard but haven't found any good info.
>>97086569>What is the best way to get into it?I did it by playing hours of Baldur's Gate 3, but learning the basic rules should be enough. The PHB is linked at the top.>Is finding an online or in person game better? >>97086584thanks! I know the general rules fairly well by now just from reading the phb. I'll look for online games for now. Do you know the best way to find in person games? or is that more of a thing where the opportunity sometimes comes up and you just have to wait for it
>>97086194>All 3 Core RulebooksOnly one of those is a rule book, the other two are suggestion books.
>>97086569In-person is generally better, but if you can't find anything online works fine. If you are in a large city though, I doubt you'll truly be forced to resort to that though.>I don't wanna absolutely botch someone's campaign being completely newAs long as you're upfront about that fact, I doubt it would be an issue. Some people might not want that, but people are generally going to be understanding that a new player will need more guidance. >the one near by that is beginner friendly has an age limit, (21+)I'm a bit confused what you mean there, do you mean it's only people 21 and under, or is it only 21 and over and you're not 21? Seems a little odd in either case. Though if it's at a game store, you could potentially still show up on the day it happens as a way to ask around. I know that where I'm at a few game stores have gamefinder discords and things like that, but they aren't really advertised online. If you're feeling bold you can lie and say you heard about the beginner-friendly game, but not that there was an age restriction, and that might earn you enough pity to get pointed in the right direction for your area. The other more surefire way to find an in-person game is to rope in your friends, although that often works best if you're willing to DM the game yourself.
Are melee Warlocks decent especially Great Old Ones? I have an idea for a character and I think Warlock would be the best way to represent them.

The Rock Gnome uses Mending and Prestidigitation to repair and clean the homestead while the owners sleep in exchange for offering of bread and milk.
do all clerics boil down to casting spirit guardians?
>>97087886I mean, why not? Powerful AoE that stays up with Concentration and lets you cover allies and cast other stuff on your turns.I use it as a Divine Soul Sorc all the time too.
>>97087886You have access to the best buff spells, a lot of great crowd control, and utility out the ass. Clerics can be so much more than Spirit Guardians if you choose to. That's like asking if Wizards all just boil down to casting Fireball. It's the best damage in slot for the simplicity of use, but sometimes you need to banish a motherfucker, give Aid or Bless, or even just Command. SG is a fantastic spell, but it shouldn't be your only contribution.
why is smite considered good? it's just extra 2d8.
>>970882482d8, auto-hit, as a bonus action. It mogs the shit out of most other 1st level damage spells, and you get a freebie once per day.
>>97088248It was a lot better in 2014, where there was no action required. It also has some nice interaction with crits. But it's above other damaging spells because you don't need to risk the slot to deal damage. It's a consistent and reliable 2d8 that you can add onto an attack that already hit an important target.
>>97088247I'll note you can cast Aid and Command while SG is up.
>>97088248Declaring it after you already know you crit, and doing extra to particular enemy types, and using higher level slots to spike it. Most tables only have one or two big dumb fights per session so any limited nova abilities are artificially overvalued at most tables by their DM’s inability to properly pace their sessions on an encounter basis.
>>97088285>>97088309hm i see. i should probably try to find what the damage per level looks like on average. it just looked so minor>>97088115sounds kind of boring for every cleric subclass to be like this>>97088247the wizard example is nice. just having a look around what to play next and discussions about the class always seemed to come down to spirit guardians
>>97088348>sounds kind of boring for every cleric subclass to be like thisI'd say that some Cleric subclasses can get away with not using it. Light clerics get Fireball and Trickery clerics as of 2024 get Hypnotic Pattern. Forgoing it is an option. It just requires some forethought into what you'd be spending your 3rd-level slots on otherwise.
>>97088363This is what I've got prepped as an 8th level Divine soul.
>>97088395Plus the bonus free subclass spells.
>>97088395>>97088400I'd heavily suggest swapping out Flame Blade. You don't really want to be in melee as a Sorcerer, and Flame Blade isn't even a particularly good spell once you're there.Other than that, it all seems fine.
What could a hypothetical class with a D20 hit die be?
>>97088507It'd probably need to be some sort of blood mage concept that used hitpoints as a resource rather aggressively. A higher hit die and inflated costs would then discourage simply multiclassing into a d10/d12 class or taking feats like Tough. If for example you can spend 6 HP to cast a 1st-level spell, then a d20 character has similar health to a Cleric at level 1 once they cast two spells. Even that might not be drastic enough though.
>>97088333True, but I more meant to the credit of Cleric's utility.
>>97088348>sounds kind of boring for every cleric subclass to be like thiswelcome to 5e
>skeletor joins your party.>what would happen?
>>97088822oathbreaker?
This is on topic for 5e and rpgs in general. What do you think is the best place to find games where there's an opportunity to ERP with peoples girlfriends and wives? Should I run games if I'm going to do this? I am a really good DM and player as well but I can't help but be horny while playing. I also like ERPing with guys too. I basically just like erping behind the parties back.
>>97089277I think you should kill yourself.
>>97089281I'll just default to R20 I guess, maybe reddit? Idk, I've never really used Reddit.
>>97089525Seems like a lot of investment for 1 point of AC. I'd say 14 Dex would suffice, and then points would be better spent towards Con with either Resilient Con or Warcaster to help out with Concentration.Scale mail and a Shield should have you covered for a lot of the game.
>>97089548I actually dedicated more than one singular braincell to what I was asking and realized I should probably save my postings for something else. Thanks for answering it anyway, anon. I came to effectively the same conclusion myself, essentially.
>>97088966Yeah, why not?
Did you know that the US Postal Service sells a D&D shirt? Now you know. Why? I have no idea.
>>97089277>behind the parties backWhy contain it? Everyone in my group knows that I ERP with my husband and my on-again-off-again boyfriend between sessions. And that I’m the only man between the three of us who was born with a penis.
>>97089772Have a messenger in your campaign show up wearing that and then just never mention it again.
so next campaign we'll roll stats instead of using the standard array. is there any dos and don'ts depending on how good the starts are that you roll?
Using 2024 D&D, are objects immune to conditions? If a creature hit a door and they have a trait that says:>The target has the Frightened condition. That door is now frightened?
>>97090137>frighten the door>The door bolts in terror.Great job, Steve, now it's going to be even harder to break it down.
>>97090126I'll preface this by saying that 5e really isn't designed for stat-rolling as an ability score method. The exact rolling method can influence this, but generally you end up with some pretty odd results. That said, the best thing to do if you roll low is to go for Cleric. Picking the right Domain can get you heavy armor, so while you'll be slower (unless you pick Dwarf), you won't have low AC. And picking the right spells can circumvent the need to have good Wisdom.Beyond that, the main thing to watch is ensuring you've got your AC covered. For example, if you roll an 18 but your next best score is 13. You don't really want to play a Wizard with 18 Int and 13 Dex, since you're just gonna get yourself killed. That's the case where you want your 18 to be used towards helping both your offense and defense, so playing an Archery Fighter would be a better use of that sort of spread. As soon as you're in the ballpark of rolling multiple scores of 15+ you're basically golden to play whatever combination you can think of. You still need to be wary of lower scores, but a lot of classes really want to have multiple 16s to start, which you can normally achieve pretty easily with the starting bonuses from race/background.A lot of this assumes you're able to allocate scores. If the DM has you roll down the line, Cleric remains a fairly safe bet. The advice about worrying about AC first and foremost generally remains though. Stick with heavy armor if you can't get to 14 dex, and stick with medium if you can't easily get to 16. Then just use your other scores to guide you.
>>97089791Because I enjoy NTR and like the idea of use and abusing people's PCs while they pretend to be otherwise. Bonus points if it's someone's GF or Wife at the table.
>>97090268>unless you pick DwarfHuh? What does this mean?
>>97090490Most women who are into TTRPGs and would be into their characters being "used and abused" won't be pretending to be otherwise, they'll be reveling in the opportunity to play out that trauma at the table.
>>970907132014 Dwarf has a racial trait that lets you ignore movement penalty from not meeting the strength score prerequisite.
>>97090713Dwarves don't have their speed decreased by heavy armor.
>>97090763>>97090767Oh. I'm not that guy, but my DM isn't using 2014.
I've been playing with Heroforge for a while. Maybe I'm unused to advance settings for facial expressions, but do or could Tieflings have problems showing a genuine non-threatening smiles given their fangs and intense gaze make them look more predatory than they really intends sometimes?
>>97090803Do tieflings have fangs?
>>97090803Getting a genuinely non-threatening or "soft" smile in HeroForge can be tricky, even for human characters, and it's definitely exacerbated by Tiefling features. A natural smile takes place on more than just the mouth. You should have the cheeks, and by extension the eyes to squint.
>>97090860Sometimes
>>97090758That's not true. I've RPd with plenty of RPer girls that pretend to just be normal party members but behind the scenes they want to RP getting gangbanged by wolves in private.
>>97090803>tfw HeroForge is literally incapable of representing any of the races in my group's D&D setting except for humansIt's a weird feeling.
>>97090883I wouldn't call your bog standard bestiality orgy "used and abused".
>>97090802If you're using 2024, then offsetting the speed reduction for low Strength in heavy armor is a matter of picking a race with a higher base speed. Wood Elf or Goliath are the options within the PHB. Goliath is the safer bet if your DM cares about tracking weight. But it doesn't matter too much. Especially since in 2024 a Cleric getting heavy armor also isn't tied to domain choice.
>>97090890Fair enough. That's more what I'm talking about though. Just doing coomer stuff, fucking NPCs, etc.
Have you ever had players say they want to play a character from an existing story? Not inspired by, or like a character from that universe, but the literal character themselves? There's a pair of players in one of my groups who I think are encouraging each other. In a couple of oneshots or short adventures, they've figured how to play a character from some anime or game "but in D&D" and it's like whatever, it's oneshot and it's not super character driven. But I'm running the next campaign and one of them wants to be a character from a mobage with a shitload of lore and backstory and the other wants to play THROUGH the backstory of a guy from a concept album, including specifying himself what happened to the loved one his character is trying to find and the character arc the PC will go through during the campaign.
>>97091136yeah those are called bad players and after interviewing them i dont invite them
Would you let me play a chaotic evil character in your campaign?
>>97091136try to explain to them how boring it will be to regurgitate some old story that someone else created Vs themselves actually flexing their own creative souls and creating original content
>>97091136Making an existing character is missing out on a big chunk of the fun. Maybe offer some suggestions on how to make the character their own.
>>97091227This is a casual community group. I'd reject the ideas and tell them why in a personal game they were invited to, but I'm just DMing the next short adventure and I'm planning to spend a not unreasonable amount of effort workshopping the ideas with them so it works.>>97091252You can play the antagonist from a power metal album experiencing his fall to darkness over the course of the campaign.>>97091327>>97091349They've both done this in our previous campaigns is the thing. I think they'd realise the hollowness of playing a whole campaign like this but I'll still encourage them to take what inspires them to make their own character, and obviously I'll tell the second guy respectfully that he doesn't get to design his own plot revelations and character arc. They're both good players and I like them both as people; I just think they've got in a weird habit of realising existing concepts rather than making, you know, D&D characters for a campaign.
I still hate that fairies aren't tiny
>>97091252as long as you can figure out a way to have your character cooperate with the other players
>>97091252No. Not in my current game at least. I usually tell people it’s a good aligned campaign in session 0. I’ve had neutral characters as long as their motivations align with the party. But chaotic evil is the worst except chaotic neutral that is the actual worst
>Using alignments to define your personality.
>>97092089lmao cuck
>>97092589I usually tell my players unless they're a cleric or something they're just unaligned. I've seen too many people fall into that trap. They base all decisions off their alignment because they lack anything else to go on.
>>97089277>>97089791>>97090490Troons and NTR together? Who would've thought?
>>97060873THEY REMOVED MY CANNON WALL-CRAWLING LIKE SPIDER MAN
Would it be an improvement if magic uses switched from daily spell slots to an MP system?
>>97093499I'd rather we have both for more class differentiation.
>>97086194>>97086427No.
>>97093028They're literally opposed in this case, you nonce.
>>97081555If only you could open the book and read the description....
>>97092660>>97092589alignment is the average of past actions that magic and some items and creatures can sense. If you murdered children, the celestial can feel it, and so can the demonic blade. That's your alignment. If you start rescuing orphans, your alignment might change for the better. At no point should it limit the player's ability to chose his character's actions.Behaving erratically without following a general approach is bad roleplay or a mad character, but it should have nothing to do with alignment
>>97092589Alignment doesn't inform your personality but your personality informs your alignmentYou don't act like a huge selfish prick that will kill and maim to get what you want because you're evil, you're evil because you act like a huge selfish prick that will kill and maim to get what you want
>>97093499Improvement in what sense? The spell point variant already exists as an optional a rule. The main thing it does is make spellcasters even more versatile because they can allocate spend all the points on their best spells with maximum efficiency.
