What has improved since then, and what has worsened?
>>97056894can't beat this cover for lizards
>>97056894>When did you first get into AoS?About six or seven years ago, I think. I was into WHFB in the early '10s but dipped out of traditional games entirely for a number of years. I caught wind of AoS through Underworlds, around the time when the Nightvault expansion was unveiled.
Oh hey, Daughters of Khaine Mega Gargant kit just dropped
>>97056894i miss when seraphon were mysterious order daemons instead of just being Lizardmen, Again
>>97056940>six or seven
If they ever update the juggernaunts, they better fuckin give them weapons like pic related. dunno whats even taking them so long, they already made a new juggernaunt for 40k so they can just copy paste that shit to high heaven for both settings with some adjustments to the riders torsos and arms.
>>970568942017, so middle of 1st edition and post GA books/GHB but the webstore still had keyword categories and sold Sourbreath Troggoths and such (my chosen variety at the time kek). The game has only really changed now in 4th, as 2nd and 3rd was just minor tweaks and layered mechanics. I hated battalions leaving, I think it's crucial to bridge the world building and rules like no one is playing Napoleonics because of this abstract view or soldiers - it's all about a simulation of notable battles and the parties involved. How armies are structured, the heroic tales of noteworthy detachments, etc.I disliked the shift towards restricted lists too. At first GA was discouraged in 2nd and then illegal in 3rd. You can't even take allies in 4th. Mostly the game is the same, but now it's a little more about micromanaging nonsense and abstractions that get in the way of the core experience honestly. Inoffensive but niggly issues. I'm excited about pointed artefacts but the motivation comes from balancing rather than creativity so we'll be stuck with 3 boring options until 5th no doubt
>>97056894>tqI checked the model history spreadsheet recently, it was somewhere between kharadron and nurgle in terms of releases, so around november 2017 I'd say. Transition from mid to late 1st edition.I think it was a pretty great time to join desu, malign portents started not long after and it was probably the most hype the game has ever been. Really started to find its footing. What's gotten worse since then has been discussed to death, I'll just leave it at a loss of flavour and customization. As for better, lots of little improvements here and there I suppose. I do appreciate a good map, and it's undeniable that those have gotten better since 1st edition, even if I do have a certain nostalgic fondness for the messes they were.
Empty puff piece with some nice paintjobs in ithttps://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/uqlrgxaf/get-inspired-by-these-awesome-warhammer-quest-darkwater-heroes-painted-by-the-wider-warhammer-community/
>>97057023I ship it.
>>97056963You're the only one.The new fluff leaves both rooms, and more, open and lets them be more present and in line with what people want out of the lizards.
>>97056894Bought the Gloomspite vanguard back in fall of 2023 cause it reminded me of fraggle rock and Labyrinth and the never ending story. I also really like goblins in fantasy. Then I went hard into Nurgle last spring and spearhead came out and I’ve played a handful of spearhead games since then. I’ve amassed a little over 2k points of maggotkin so farNow the big Nurgle wave is soon upon us and Ive been reading up on the Bigmar rules. Seems simple enough to grasp desu.I’ve just been so busy with other hobbies that I can never bring myself to book a table and have a game with the guy I would play spearhead with. I’m always tired and when I’m not I feel like painting. I’m a hobbyist first and foremost so I’ve been really excited and satisfied with the models they’ve been putting out since I got in. The Nurgle wave has gotten me really pumped and I’ve been in a hobby rush to get my backlog done before darkwater comes out.
>>97057023man, this box looks cool but im not spending $250 for like maybe 6 or 7 models i actually want, a mediocre board game and then a bunch of filler
>>97057023man, the bearman is really the worst of the bunch
>>97057023I liked the zebra kurnothi, pretty funAlso think the ghur dude looks better when his upper body isn't all orange for whatever reason. Remember when we thought he was a firebelly? Good times.
I knew someone was gonna do this. >>97057053This kinda changes my opinion on the sculpt entirely. Didn’t know he was fleshy. Can safely say I like all of the good guys now.
>>97057053The zebra kurnothi in question, bold choice.
embarrassing
>>97056894>When did you first get into AoS? tried it when the first "nothing has points, who has the bigger mustache" nonsense rules first dropped, it was as bad as people say it was, but then i came back around the time of the first GHB and it was a proper game. i (and obviously many people) were desperate for a fantasy IP with round bases that played like 40k (especially since around this time warmachine was also dying). square based gameplay and shit models had been turning people off of fantasy for decades, warmachine and hordes kind of filled the niche, but it was just a bit too steampunky and stylized for a lot of people and couldnt fill the sort of general purpose fantasy most people were looking for. they wanted the dnd of wargames. as a setting whfb delivered, but the physical product itself and the game that went along with it were completely repulsive. > What has improved since then, and what has worsened?improved? spearhead is a MASSIVE improvement as far as small game format and intro game for getting new players into the hobby. external balance between factions is better than it used to be, and obviously all the new model ranges and updates have been almost completely flawless, age of sigmar has consistently gotten some of the best model releases your after year in all of wargaming history. the addition of endless spells has been pretty good, though they need to finish giving them to everybody, and make them more extravagant like the IDK oneworsened? the loss of realm rules, artifacts, more in depth subfaction rules. i also think the loss of max unit discounts and triple reinforcement was a bigger loss than people give it credit for. biggest loss for me though are all the ally and coalition rules. 2nd edition cities of sigmar was insane for army creativity. you had one cities player with a pheonicium army and another with a living cities army and they were so different they may as well have been completely different battletomes.
>>97057086>the loss of realm rulesI completely forgot about these. I don't think I used them since before Broken Realms. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure someone in the studio said on camera that they planned to add ream rules back into the game as 3e progressed, but then they never quite got around to it since they only added these rules through seasonal battlescrolls and only for various regions of Ghur. Fucked up.
>>97057065Looks awesome >>97057053I think a lot of sculpts get undeserved hate for bad or unflattering paint jobs in their box art. This guy and pink horrors are good examples. >>97057048You interested in the Nurgle? Im actually eager to paint every model in the kit minus the armored zweihander hero and the priestess lady. I’m also a Nurgle fag and I wouldn’t mind trying out the game solo either.
>>97057164>hugboxing
>>97057086My guess is that coalition rules and the Firestorm/Cities of Sigmar-style "grab what you like, we'll make it work" lists were done away with in order to disentangle all the army ranges from each other so the bean counters could more easily gather sales data. If that's the motivation then I can at least see why the changes were made even though I don't like them. And I get that much of the creative direction for CoS meant to make the army feel more coherent, less like a random assortment of leftovers lumped together. But the tradeoff is making them feel more monotonous, which runs straight counter to one of the army's greatest strengths. That's a balancing act, and imho the studio hasn't done a great job of finding the right balance.
>>97057177>FirestormVGH
>You want to run an army made up of dark elves, stormcast eternals, fyreslayers, and sylvaneth? An odd selection but no problemo.
Does anyone have the Dawnbringers books in pdf? I'm going crazy trying to find them.
>>97056933the absolute goatI really hope the 4e is going to be at least passable, most of the ones so far haven't impressed me much
>>97057177Sales data isn't really important, GW already have stock documentation. GW just want to divide to prop sales. When you can't go half and half SCE-CoS you're going all in on both and buying two battletomes.
>>97057344>you're going all in on both and buying two battletomes.not really, no.

>>97057426lel I saw that conversion too, pretty cute
>>97057426You are not fooling me, I've seen that kitbash already
>>97057426I saw this kitbash and wasn't really impressed, guy did a decent paint job but the proportions looked a bit wonky.

If only they'd put this love and effort into spidergobbos
>>97057426Not blurry and zoomed in enough
>>97057586not allowed totoo racist
>>97057538What happened to Bugmansson? That was an odd one-off. It's all been Red Gobbo in the years since.
>>97057615I dunno, but great model. I still have it fully painted to use as an admiral or whatever. Less work for the marketing team to just reuse the Red Gobbo every year I guess.
>>97057640I'm so sick of the red gobbo, I have no need for a fucking santa themed mini. At least Bugmansson is just a year round cool dwarf.
>>97057615I thought he was a 1-off. Especially since he's an actual KO character and not a full meme
>>97057615>BugmanssonHis name was considered racist to the Chinese so he had to go.
I been thinking with the silver tower rumour that we probably get a pity hero or one (1) (singular) unit with it, because gw usually doesn't do terrain only.I hope its either a redone fatemaster or forsaken unit.It also could be redone pink horrors but I'm wondering if it will be done in the current style or in a new one?The blue horrors are relatively "new" and i doubt they will redo pinks in a style that clashes with blues, so i guess they just go with a update of the current design.
>>97057678You're getting a wizards tower so you're probably also getting a wizard or a new Herald.
>>97057678They won't redo minor demons before officially announcing 40keks to get fucked
>>97057164>Brimstone horrors vs nurglings on the bottom rightBest part of that artwork, I head canon it as the pivotal fight that decides it all.
>>97057769Yeah I've always liked little stuff like that, adds a lot of character and dare I say, sovl
>>97057538>painting guides How generous! Genuinely. They've pay walled that shit lmao
>>97057065Help...me...help...me!No but seriously, I think it's cool that they allowed a model painted by an autonomous Tesla android arm in as a joke.
>>97057938I think the owl looks pretty good, BUT I'll say it. I like how for some of these previews they show off stuff painted with lower skill tiers. When I first started that was what fucked me up the most, there was never any work that was on par with the stuff I was pumping out.I'd be looking up painting guides for starters and these mother fuckers were popping out quality I could only dream of. I appreciate seeing some lower end stuff that still has some quality.
>>97057970yeah it's nice to see some stuff that normies can attain once in a while, especially if you're just starting outBut sometimes whoever they send these promo boxes to just phone it in completely, like the fox here is pretty bad. I also remember one of the gitmob promo articles being painted like complete shit lol
>>97057538that silhouette is the cogfort right?
>>97058062the silhouette is a stompa, but it's actually completely irrelevant to what he's showing
>>97056894>When did you first get into AoS?When I got into AoS, I got to reroll my saves with Sigvald if I watched myself in a mirror while rolling
>>97058062It might be a new 40k Stompa for the upcoming 40k Ork refresh. It looks like it has an Ork head with pointy ears and all.
>>97058109Lying faggot
>>97056894>tqLike this time last year, had my god awful teaching game where I brought Nagash and some Morghasts because it sounded cool. Then got completely obliterated by the guy who brought his tourney list and didn't teach me shit.I've learned to play objectives more, I still have trouble determining when to go full retard face charge vs sitting and camping my back field. I'm enjoying it though, I've had at least double digits of games this year and it's been generally pretty fun.
Why so serious?!
>>97058180I think I remember you said you saw his minis in the for sale cabinet later on. Then you bought his lord of pain, right?
>>97057023Way too expensive. I think this may be the first box where GW really have lost the plot imo. I’m not spending like 2 days of work for dark water are they retarded?
>>97058193Yeah like half the army is still fucking sitting there, and yeah got his lord of pain and shard-speaker. I'm still peeved at that whole thing because it's such a dickass move, the guy who wound up giving me an actual teaching game was super nice. (Turned out to be one of my old coworkers from like a decade ago)
>>97058180> I want a teaching game> Also I'll bring a god model and spam morghastsI don't blame him for doing so. Both your armies look like unpainted ass.
>>97058198dark water is just the name of the box, you're not paying for dark water
>>97058124It's is absolutely true, and I have the pictures and all my campaigns and fliers to promote the game still saved on OneDrive from that time
>>97058221I'll be sure to go back in time and remind myself to finish those Morghasts, that's my bad anon.
>>97057970Yup. My painting is mediocre, seeing other mediocre paintjobs featured is a nice touch and a wink to those of us that suck.
>>97058180>monochrome slaanesh>red bases>tourney listlel the jokes write themselves
>>97058249Are they painted now?Is that Nagash painted?
>>97058245Nta but I seem to remember that like 90% of the joke rules were for, essentially, legends stuff. The infamous mustache one was for kurt helborg, and I think the clopping hooves one was for some bretonnian thingy. Sigvald I think wasn't around in early aos, so your story is pretty believable, would've been a "legends" warscroll (though I believe it was called something different at the time?)
>>97057938> The olde authorized leaker bitch is still around and getting her GW gibsTakes me back
>>97058315> Greasus Goldtooth let you try to literally bribe your opponent > If you rolled a 13 with the Screaming Bell you just win the game> Dragon Prince reroll if you didn't smile> Settra couldn't kneel or bowI don't know why they thought that shit was appropriate (Hewitt said it was just rampant kiss assery after an upper management type liked one of Hewitt's ideas)
>>97058314Nagash is, I wound up giving my Morghasts and OBR stuff to my friend since he wanted to get into AOS and liked Necrons. Nagash was already painted at that point, he was my first big hobby project for AOS.Also I'm lazy as fuck so here's just the last picture I got with Nagash.
>>97058339Alright your cool then
>>97058315Yeah, they were replaced by the GA books in early 2016 and before as WD releases
>>97058315Basically the first month or so, the joke rules came out and it was the entire game. But the backlash was so brutal, they changed most of them right away and re-released the pdfs with most of them removed. Then after a few months they released the big books of warscrolls (one for each allegiance) and put old stuff in the new "legends", which was kind of weird because it still had the names of the old WHFB armies. Some of those still had funny rules, but didn't last much.By the time fo the first General's Handbook I remember they were all gone.
>>97058349I didn't even know Morghast/Nagash was Meta, the original plan was to just do a 1k practice match with some stuff I had but then he swapped up and said "I don't waste my time with 1k" and we swapped to 2k so I just picked the most expensive stuff I had.But don't worry I still paint [my dudes] even if sometimes there's a bit of grey I try to have 90% of my army ready before I play now.
>>97058355I wouldn't half mind a few joke rules here or there, maybe not something that requires me to scream at the top of my lungs or specifically grow out facial hair. But on occasion having a little gimmick here or there can be a fun idea. (Or just release rules like the christmas RoR or AoR where you have goofy rulesets for stuff that doesn't necessarily transfer to the main game)
>>97058355No, the entire game was the battletome releases and warscrolls in white dwarf The compendium were always legends, not meant for official play, patchwork support hence the whacky rules slipping through because no one cared
>>97058355>>97058315in teh grand scheme of things, it didnt actually take that long for age of sigmar to get proper rules and support and become a legit wargamethe problem was at the beginning there was zero communication as to what the plan was, and this problem still largely persists to this day. armies will disappear out of nowhere, ally systems or coalitions which were the glue holding together some peoples collections get dissolved and then you have players with half a wanderers army and a handful of treemen they cant use, then the wanderers get removed with no notice or alternative. GWs completely opaque gameplan, combined with their willingness to completely rewrite the game, outlaw, or dismantle peoples armies at the drop of a hat, has created tremendous uncertainty in the aos community that has never really left.
>>97056894>TQGot interested in AoS after total war games, about 4 years laterWhat has improved: some of the factions I played got more and/or better models. SoG is an interesting experiment in trying to make new rules for underperforming units. Better clarification on determining priority and bonus reroll is ok. Clear model control score is nice albeit rarely used since units usually kick other units off the table in one combat or die. What worsened: game rules mostly. I started somewhere in the early-mid of 3rd edition. Rules were clunky at times, but some of the fat was trimmed with erratas.4th ed took away too much for too little. I especially hate how removal of weapon ranges and battle shock made combat especially deadly. New list building drew a clear line between taking good units or losing to opponents good units. Magic got weaker and less varied. Artifacts/traits are limited and lame with occasionally useful ones.
>>97057609Does anyone even care about the tribal aspect? I literally just want to see spiders. They can be made into Moonclan for all I care.
>>97058335>> If you rolled a 13 with the Screaming Bell you just win the gamethis one was funny though
I miss 3E
>>97058481Me too anon. 4e killed my local scene. It’s spearhead or nothing here now.
>>97058481>faction specific grand strategies and battle tactics>nothingburgers in Ghur>somehow even more useless foot heroesEw, fuck no. 3r made me push Ghur out of the spot of my favorite realm. 4th may have sucked a lot of flavor out of the rules, but the game plays so much cleaner and can still be a lot of fun. Narrative may be kind of widespread but if leaksloppers are to be believed, some interesting stuff could be coming up soon.
>>97058510why does Spearhead live on?
>>97058525Probably because it’s actually enjoyable to play unlike the core game. I want to be like >>97058522 but I don’t even have enough local copers to pretend everything is alright.
>>97058522> 4th may have sucked a lot of flavor out of the rules, but the game plays so much cleaner and can still be a lot of fun. I can't dispute that, but I love flavor in rules and army building. The last thing I wanted was them turning AoS into 10e, and they somewhat did.
>>97058481You mean 2e right? It all started going downhill when they removed realm items because of tourneyfag spurging.
>>97058481I'm torn on it. Overall I preferred the subfaction rules and warscrolls of 3e, but I prefer the core rules of 4e. And while all the best times were had with 2e, the poor internal and external balance of the armies was just as often frustrating.
>>97058535Give me the core rules of 4e and the flavorful sub faction rules and warscrolls of 3e and I'd be so happy.I hate this philosophy from GW that balance can only be obtained by removing all of the fluff out of the rules.
>>97058510Same here besides tournaments its Spearhead or nothing. Spearhead is very popular though. Probably even more than 40k.
>>97058572combination of ease of access, wayyy less time demand, and actually decent balance, yeah it's been going crazy here too
>>97058377Yeah that's what I was getting at, rules for tomb kings, brets, dead characters from fantasy, that kind of stuff is where most of the joke rules came from iirc.I don't think gw expected people to care all that much, but in hindsight it was a bit of a failure to read the room I guess.
>>97058532This. 3rd edition killed my entire group because of the removal of anything narrative related.
Competitive tournament play is the heart of Warhammer. I miss the days when Warhammer was actually expensive so only intelligent people played it. Now every random schmuck thinks he can be a Warhammer General when previously it used to be only the Elite few.
>>97058666post models, satan
>>97058673
>>97058681Alright this one got me
>>97058572>>97058581It’s not so much been going crazy here as simply replaced AoS here. Or rather became the only AoS game played with any regularity. Most people played AoS because it wasn’t 40k, at least from what people here told me. Turning AoS into 40k made a lot of people understandably drop out.
Bros... Are we getting defunded?
>>97058719aos and tow will simply specialise on what they're doing and rely less and less on classical fantasy concepts
>>97058717Fingers crossed we get some more fluff and fun as 4th goes on. I don't HATE what they've done but I do think they're morons who have no idea what the actual fuck they're doing.
>>97056957Fuck yes
>>97058741I think there's enough room in the world for High Fantasy and Mid Fantasy TOW. (If you think the Old Fantasy Warhammer was Low Fantasy you need to get your head examined)
>>97058885*High Fantasy AOS
>>97058885There's a couple of different ways you can try to define low and high fantasy, but yeah under none of them does whfb ever even come close not being high fantasy. Only relative to aos could you see it as such, but basically everything is 'low' compared to aos. It's only after the launch of aos in the first place that fantasy got called 'grounded' and 'realistic', which it never really was (and that's a good thing).
>>97057053Is this dude a shapeshifter or something? He looks like the typical wild shape druid character
>>97058912TOW/Fantasy have always by definition been High Fantasy. It's the High Fantasy/Low Fantasy characterization that makes no sense in the context of Warhammer settings. You'd need a new tier above High Fantasy for AoS, Absurdist/Mythical Fantasy or something along those lines for it to work. At that point it's easier to say AoS is more out there and Fantasy is more grounded (relative to AoS) and that's enough.
>>97058936Yeah that's his thing. The backscratcher on his hip is used to transform people.
>>97058942>You'd need a new tier above High Fantasy for AoSIn terms of content and presentation it's really not that out there. Forgotten Realms, the go-to kitchen sink fantasy setting of every nerd and their disappointed parents, is wackier on both counts.
>>97058948tbf a lack of sales will kill any gamealso let's try to be the bigger men
>>97058957>Forgotten Realms, the go-to kitchen sink fantasy setting of every nerd and their disappointed parents, is wackier on both counts.I would disagree, solely because of how loosely the concept and terms of God/Gods are used in AoS. Which I guess is par for the course when your setting is managed by a 25 year old woman.
>>97057273Dawnbringers 1-6: https://gofile.io/d/Ra4F6E
>>97058969>Which I guess is par for the course when your setting is managed by a 25 year old woman. Is this the reason for the narrative nothingburgers of 3e and so far 4e?
>>97058995Probably. But definitely why a faction of misandrists is portrayed as good guys (gals). Can you imagine the reverse?
2e...home...
>>97059017We need a HH type spinoff for AoS based on older rules so tournament faggots can play 4e onwards and the rest of us comfy wargamers can have a flavorful game
>>97056957>t. Karbo
>>97058969Eh, gods being kind of inconsistent is pretty much a given in any setting that has gods as active participants. I think it'd require far more autism than necessary to streamline that in the first place. If anything is confusing about gods in aos it's how there's different types of gods entirely. You got your chaos gods being fed by, let's say, primeval concepts, you've got your elemental gods like alarielle or siggy, you've got gods feeding on worship (morathi), you've got gods feeding on pure might (kragnos), and then you've got the ones that are somehow multiple of these things at once (ashoot)
>>97059027ToW IS the HH type spinoff
Which Darkwater hero is the secret final boss?
>>97059057Wisper.
>>97059053This. It's a prequel setting with a deeper ruleset (derived from a past one) at the cost of a more restrained set of factions.

>>97058885the problem is in factions like lizardmen and skaven, which didn't change at all in the transition and that gw cannot make cross compatible because they're too retarded
Does anyone have the Nighthaunt 4th Battletome? With the art intact please, trying to rip and clean the art to make bootleg posters.>When did you first get into AoS? What has improved since then, and what has worsened? When GW squatted fatcast and revealed the new Liberators, thought they looked cool so finally gave AoS a chance. Started out with Warcry with Questors, fell in love with Ghur as a setting and how good the Warcry scenario books were in general. Have like 2k in Kruelboyz, SC and Seraphon now.
>>97059091buy an ad next time
>>97058633Yeah, I suppose GW thought of it as recycled armies or those that may not survive long as plans solidify so it was support for what is essentially not customers. Legacy armies in TOW have the same issues and ofc even legends AoS stuff is a bit of a waste.I'm guessing GW were already using what would be GA warscrolls at that point internally so it slipped through the cracks. The silver tower designer wrote about it and it seemed like a different team with vague suggestions before approval.
>>97059057The Kurnothi calls a wild hunt after recovering a horn, teasing an expansion where Sylvaneth attack
>>97058531And then 10th ed 40k ended up better than AoS
>>97059096I legit thought you converted this as an ork boss with a space marine on the base given the terrain kek
>>97059170My bad I've been lazy about painting my AoS terrain

>>97059262>Morghur is a clump of goop the one named BoC hero hasyeah and his whole schtick is being reborn in some bumfuck villagebeasts will be the starter box villains in uhhh 7th edition. trust the plan
>>97059276That's ToW, not AoS
>>97059283It's weirdly both. Part of BoC being written out of AoS included that one Shaman from Broken Realms sneaking away with a handful of Morhur gloop.
>>97059295NTA but Morghur is central to the TOW Beastman story in that their new named character is a shaman searching for the reincarination of Morghur specifically. This dude.
>>97059308I'm aware, I'm just saying, both settings have a similar plotline in that regard.
>>97059276>yeah and his whole schtick is being reborn in some bumfuck villagehe doesn't do that in aos, in aos he's a primordial goop and that's it for now
>>97059295Yes. The Morghur goop isn't some bumfuck villagers, it'll probably grow to be Morghur itself if not the seed that corrupts an area that births him
>Slaangor hero >Pestigors in UW >Khorngors in the late edition campaign books >Gavespawn Beastkin in 5th launch box >Khorngor hero + warcry unit in 5th We eating good goatfriends
>>97059402If khorngors aren't weird gnoll things like they were in early fantasy I'm rioting Beastmen aren't just goatmen and birdmen
>>97059427Well yeh, they're also cows
>>97059427Clovenfriends Tzaangors are just weirdos
>>97059402>>Slaangor heroIs it a priest? I hope it's a priest.
>>97058719Tha main studio can keep AoS for all I care, you just know if they get their hands in TOW they'll just restart the cancer spiral that was 7e/8e that killed the game in the first place. 10e 40keks and 4e AoS are proof enough of that.
>>97059427I prefer oldhammer khorngors, literally Hounds Beastmen.>Dogs of War lol
>>97059479>t. shamshin 2 dragons against eachother enthusiast
>>97058912>>97058942I always read it as WFB is low fantasy for the 99% of humans in the setting. To them the high fantasy shit is no different than a force of nature like a hurricane, they have to survive or deal with. For everyone else definitely high fantasy.
>>97058719>Might >No guarantees >Not anytime soon Fake and gay
>>97056894>TQI got into aos in 1ed at launch. I really liked the simplicity of just placing things on the table until both players felt it was fair. List building was wide open, and the lore was a total sandbox, so people were thinking up all kinds of cool armies based on the models they loved. The current list building to me feels overly restrictive and encourages more armies to look the same on the table. Even proper allies would help but that's gone now too. I currently feel as though that is what is really hurting aos, before it was a fairly simple sidegame if you look at around soul wars era 2ed, and so it was easy to absorb players from 40k. That's probably why spearhead does so well. It helps being a great ruleset(maybe the best ruleset they make rn) but also it is a simple ruleset and so it's a smaller investment in terms of time and money. For stuff that's better? I'd say the art, fluff, and models are better than they've ever been. We are long past the days of the mortuary factory, and tposing fyreslayers. Our starter sets are packed with insanely nice models, both dominion and skaventide are excellent sculpts. All of our new armies are stellar. The lore sections in battletomes seem like they have a lot more love poured into them now as well.
>>97059485i actually recently got a set of metal khorngors (not the old old dog ones but the late 90s metal goats). they're decent looking, i wonder why GW stopped doing the god themed beastmen for so long
>>97059488Yes, I play elves, how did you know?
>>97059427>>97059485Khorngors are already in Bloodbowl.
>>97059527so are pestigors and that didn't stop the AoS team
>>97059527should have frills
>make perfect redesign of the old pestigors, including some new elements like rhino horns>scrap all that in the same reveal show for more naked fat goats
>>97059657It is quite odd that darkwater beastmen are so different from the regular ones, especially considering CC zombies and skeletons were basically 1 to 1 preruns of the actual multipart models. It's a shame because I really prefer the darkwater look, and since there's only 8 in the box it'll be extra annoying.
You know after checking around minis i'm surprised CoS dorfs have less ranged than their "buddies" DE'sSure they have WM and the rockets, but miss that ol' dorf rifle
>>97059690Lends more creedence to Darkwater being a TOW release that was changed relatively late into development when suits got cold feet.
>>97059657>>97059690Shiiiit, those are the cursed city skeletons right?I think i remember the fight between people that liked the really old death guard, the "mid age" death guard and the "new" death guard"
>>97059657Mix all 3 for the superior end result
>>97059427Personally, I prefer bulls/goats mostly, but I wish others had a chance like the dog ones from eons ago. Also, the tiger and frog ones mentioned in the lore. Also, the older models like that camel one. I've seen some kitbashes t liked a worm one t
>>97059710Aren't they too dynamic for ToW?
Does anyone know what base size vorn from dark water is on? I wanna convert him into a thaumaturge
>>97059762The bottom ones that are being released for AoS for sure, but look at the Darkwater Pestigor poses, they could all easily be ranked up.
>>97059690Counterpoint: It's exactly like how Blackstone Fortress's beastmen were very different from the Kill Team beastmen
>>97059657I would have been very annoyed if pestigors were just slightly rotten gors when slaangors and tzaangors are so mutated
What's stopping you from buying the Darkwater ones?
>>97059690Since it sounds like the box will 2 sprues (4 each but both options) I reckon it'll be possible to pretty easily convert any other beastman into a pesti.
>>97059815Darkwater is retadedly over priced, buying it for one unit is double retarded.
>>97059825They'll split them on eBay for 10-20
>>97059831Oh shit you're totally right. All the quest zombies and skeletons were available dirt cheap on eBay.
>>97059820There's only two leftover heads per 4, with one needed some chopping.
>>97059844Tbf you just need 2 extra for the full 10, so not entirely out there. Also looks like extra gut plates and weapon options.
>>97059427tzaangors are in my opinion better ones. Pestigors and Slaangors are just normal beastmen. I hope if khorngors return we get the dog one or something unique.
I wonder if Darkwater will get post-launch support. Maybe not expansions, even >no models ones like Cursed City got, but perhaps additional rules online or in WD. More in the vein of Shadows over Hammerhal.
I kind of want to try out the new Gore Chosen army of renown, it seems like a novel way to try my army, and it got me thinking it could be a cool opportunity to kitbash and make a bunch of unique characters.Does anyone have ideas for how I could do it? I think it makes most sense to start with Bloodwarriors and then elevate them from there with different bits or greenstuff sculpting and the 40mm bases. I also considered doing them with brass flesh (a la taurox the brass bull) or maybe starting with StD chosen as a base and added khorne stuff onto those (they seem big and imposing). I also considered the idea of using various random bits and models I have , like converting a random ogor to be a khornate chaos ogor deathbringer. At the end I'd be aiming more for a unique and personal army, rather than one that just looks like I'm proxying for the sake of cheaping out.Side note. If anyone has the PDF for the BoK battletome I'd really appreciate it
>>97059784Ranking them up is one thing but poses with oh and shield are too different. I don't think they were created to be put in a square formation
>>97059890The variance in posing between different weapons isn't dramatically greater than the new Fantasy marauders.
>>97059868i'm surprised khorne didn't kept some beastmen related species like the skinwolves blessed by khorne, but i guess bulls would fit them more?
>>97059900Still baffled how shitty the weapons they have look.
>>97059883I've been poking around because I too am trying to do something similar. I've got a lot of hero models but still just under what you'd need points wise. You're either gonna have a shit ton of skullgrinders or a shit ton of deathbringers. Probably like 2 slaughterpriests and then stoker and bloodsecrator. (And obviously Soggy LOK)I'm probably gonna cheat and stick some darkoath underworlds guys in with the batch and the old chieftan. But I reckon blood warriors already are basically aspiring deathbringers, you could have wrathmongers as grinders as well, or use the more elite guys like skullreapers as a deathbringer since they're weird freaking turbo khorne guys.
>>97059920The headsman axes are a bit much I agree, I like the HW+shield and especially the flails.
>>97059900Fair point. I guess TOW is getting more dynamic minis
>>97059308This could pass as an old skaven.
>>97059883I think that you'd probably want to start with some of the larger characters, blood warriors are quite a bit smaller than most of the heroes. If it were me I'd grab one of each of the heroes and then swap all their equipment around so you still have the bigger guys, and the weapons scaled for them, but they can still be unique. Also a good kit for kitbashing characters are wrathmongwrs/skullreapers. You get lots of heads and weapons. Alternatively you could buy a box of skullreapers, slap your favorite bits from your favorite heroes on them and run them as 5 seperate characters.
>>97059945I think they're really fucking cool models, the only issue being having to paint a cubic fuck ton of them and the relative mono-pose nature of a horde style unit.
>The rest of the False Ancestors and their misguided flocks marched upon Ur-Zorn. Valaya sought conference with Hashut and his acolytes, whose power had grown a thousandfold, freed from the fetters of appeasement. The warmth of the hearth was gone. Now, words between brother and sister were cold and hard as stone. Battle burned the land and sky. Hashut was an unstoppable force, inflicting dire wounds on his siblings. Only a final gambit of Valaya – an act so base that none shall speak of it – saw his physical form sundered, even as she, too, passed from our people’s sight. What possibly could be so base and lame that dwarves don’t talk about it? These short cunts never shut the fuck up about anything. Only thing I can imagine is she put up a white flag as a ruse then 9/11’d both of them
>>97059958Actually wrathmongers and skullreapers come in the same box. And if you somehow have spare legs they're entirely toro based so I believe you should be able to just add a pair of legs to the other kit and have a whole other set of dudes.
>>97059977Yeah I know anon, that's why I told him to buy a wrathmonger/skullreaper kit. I will say that the wrathmonger torsos are significantly bigger around than a blood warrior, so you'd want a set of larger legs than blood warriors if you were gonna try and max out your bits for them. Chosen might be thick enough to use the legs, but I've yet to see them in person
>>97059971it's a mystery exclusively because they genuinely couldn't think of anything that would make sensebut valaya is characterised as nothing but a woman and wife, so her gambit can only be offering herself as wife to make hashut lower his guard towards her
>>97060009wope i'm dum, but yeah good advice.
Do you guys ever find good deals on minis or do GW minis just hold value like crazy?I thought going second hand would be a good idea, but locally in my country most people seem to sell at almost box price for assembled or dogshit painted minis. It seems like getting a few % discount on a webstore and buying brand new is the way to go.
>>97060131Most of the time people oversell but I've learned to just mentally filter bullshit away from my vision.I typically go to Troll Trader, eBay, and my big go to is Facebook Marketplace. I set my distance to 500 miles and then hit the major cities of the US (and sometimes Canada) and see if I can get people to ship to me. Or with eBay I'll drop massive lowball offers or PM people to try and score deals. If you're proactive and keep your search going you can find shit cheap as hell.
>>97060147Yeah lowballing is unironically the way. Had a guy list an army on FB marketplace for $800, I offered him $450 and we agreed on $550.
>>97060158Most of the time people just wanna dump this shit off or if you're REALLY lucky you'll find someone selling a massive collection who has no fucking clue what they have. Like >"Oh my grandson Terry moved out to college last year and left these little army men behind, there's a lot so 50 dollars sounds fair"And then it's like, 6k points of some faction or some shit.
>>97060170Yep. The trick (I am not telling you I assume you know telling others) is to not actually care about whether they agree or not. There's always more deals out there in the future, don't fall in love with anything and you can lowball the shit out of people and get insane deals.I've had people who are getting out of the hobby agree to ludicrous prices because I would take it all and they could be done with it in one swoop.
Okay, what the hell is going on with Tzaangors? So the pistol/chainsword ones are unique to 40k, that makes sense. But what about the shield variant, are they unique to AOS? I'm not seing shields mentioned on their AOS unit card so I'm not sure if they're still a thing at all. I guess if I want to use them in all three settings then it's dual-weapons/great weapons only? This shit is driving me bonkers. Also the Enlightened are all settings but the Sky Fires are AOS only too, right?
>>97060131Facebook marketplace is where people flip things when they are desperate. That's your main resource for deals and also the site you're most likely to receive a response to an offer you've made below asking
>>97060185It feels doubly so for AOS, like 40k shit goes for a bit more but AOS people are so much more willing to dump both bulk and cheap. I've got like... I wanna say like 7 army's rn because people keep selling me massive mixed lots or just dumping free shit on me.
>>97060191sword and board is available to both settings. same for the sky chickens.
>>97060158My only experience on marketplace I just took the guy up on the listed price and he threw in like 4 extra boxes because I was the only person who hadn't tried to haggle with him lmao
>>97060233It's a win win pretty much every time.
>>9706013125% off is normal at retailers but most people are retards who value stock by GW prices so secondary sale deals are like 10-15% off instead of the 35%~ they should beUnfortunately people append added value to built models (no leftover bits included) so someone can rationalise RRP minimum But yeah, Warhammer holds value because it's a consistent supply and demand. You'll encounter instances of over stock from hachette mags or discounted box splits but that's unusual. OOP models can be scalped or dirt cheap depending. People value the official GW seal of in production approval so it's a gamble
>>97056894>When did you first get into AoS? In late 2018 I was feeling absolute fatigue from the absolute tidal wave of marinewank in 40k, moreso than I already had. My 2 factions, DE and GK already had their books come out. DE was a fun book, no lie. GK was a repeat of the 7th edition book, a waste of paper. The narrative was stagnating and the Psychic Awakening was a wet fart. My friend told me he started reading Soul Wars out of boredom so I started reading Spear of Shadows. It wasn't until mid 2019 that I picked up my first IDK SC box and now here I am today with 3k+ into IDK, several little side projects, and just yesterday I finished the unit of Bladelords that put me over 2k+ of painted LRL. Pic related.>What has improved since thenI'd say the lore, the art, just the background of the game in general. It'll take a long time to mitigate the damage done by having a poor foundation. It's come a LONG way from 1e and is undeniably better. I think I've preferred it over 40k for some time now. The models have only gotten better, too. Just look at how many people grab AoS kits for some other non-AoS project.>and what has worsened?I would say maybe the feeling that your army is YOUR army. Ironically, I feel the vagueness or unwillingness of the authors to delve into specifics very often works against anyone looking to make /dudes/ that are believable within the setting. 4e plays the best the game has ever played, interactions and rules are extremely clean and you can still have fun but it's come at the cost of flavor and choice. It's salt in the wound that we were sold the idea of less choice in exchange for better quality choices when there's still always a clear winner. Battletomes are in an abysmal state. They feel like content patches rather than expansions to the indices, painting guides within are stripped down to fundamental techniques, and offer little in the way of NEW material for the army. Love that lizard tome art, though. My favorite of all theirs.
>>97059900wonder how GW made that ship model
>>97059959>the only issue being having to paint a cubic fuck ton of themVery much this. They look really good, but there's so much detail on them that I wouldn't assume they were meant to be fielded by the bucketloads.
Evens: take a nap with my catOdds: take a nap with my catDubs or better: paint
>>97060306The first WoC arcane journal has a list called " Wolves of the Sea " that is all marauders ( plus monsters ) that adds a bunch of marauder units like Berzerkers etc. It's going to be a herculean task but some psychos will paint like 100 marauders for their 2k point army. Also it has the coolest army rule in any GW game ever. The Warriors Duel one.
>>97059955Worth noting that they bumped the base size up from 25mm to 30mm for the new models.
>>97058719You posted the same image last thread, no one cares. Go away with your fake bullshit.
>>97060373That's a REALLY cool rule, holy shit. I love the stuff like Sea-Born Raiders, though. Giving your unit a new ability and even possibly a new role for points.
>>97058717Unironically, what is wrong with the current edition of AoS? I haven't played a game of AoS proper yet, only Spearhead so I don't know the difference. I've played plenty of 40k though. I've noticed the same trend in my local scene, lots of Spearhead going on but little actual AoS.
>mfw just noticed ALL of Warcry has been moved to online only in GW's webstoreBros this doesn't feel good. Not good at all.
>>97060565Leaks are that it's being killed and replaced with spearhead.
>>97060565>>97060569To the shock of no one but the 30 people still somehow holding onto hope that Warcry isn't dead.
>>97060565It's been like that since 4th launched and some are only available in Spearheads now
It just hit me that Underworlds 2e failed to deliver a Ruination warband for SCE. The dudes in Embergard aren't it. How the hell did GW miss that?
>>97060565Anyone who actually played it knew this was coming years ago. Pyre and Flood bombed HARD. Doesn't help that back then half the time the box teams would be ultra dogshit without spending more money + some random allied in character.
>>97060591Maybe GW finally realised that Stormcast are a blight.
If Warcry dies, will we finally be out of the Gnarlwood?
>>97060591Don't talk shit about Emberwatch, they are unironically some of the best looking generic Stormcast GW has put out and a design philosophy I wish they'd stick to more. Simple, generic, but still full of personality and flourish.
>>97060614The gnarlwoods spread to Excelsis and that's the setting for the next UW season before the late edition campaign books detailing their spread through Realmgates to conquer the other free cities
>>97060249Crispy fucking elves anon, damn. Good work.
Speaking of Underworlds, anybody got scans of the Wintermaw & Spitewood booklets? They're missing from my collection.
>>97060565Perhaps warcry will be preserved like mordheim
>>97060601How exactly it went so bad ?
>>97060601How bad was pyre and flood box?I was thinking about splitting it with a buddy because he wanted the ghosts
>Khinerai hero>new Slaughter Queen and/or Hag Queen on footI expect DoK to get one of the above this edition. Just a pity hero, no major wave of releases. And frankly I'd be fine with either option.
>>97060836Do you mean bad as in gameplay? It's pretty alright now, Riverdancers got buffed and the ghosts were always ok. The terrain piece is cool too.>>97060821GW had NO idea what the FUCK they were doing with Warcry and were only saved by the fact that the core rules and narrative books were pretty tight and fun. A great example of this is Hunters of Huanchi, they look great and the majority of new players in my local scene back then would immediately want to start with them. But the team itself was absolutely abysmal and to actually make it work you had to buy several copies of the spear guy off eBay, assuming you could find any, otherwise you'd have to buy like 2 extra boxes. It was otherwise totally unplayable and that was most first new players experience.
>>97058961But we are all playing with little men anon
I'll say one thing for the 2e warbands. I thought it was cool that the team went a little xianxia on us with Askurgan Trueblades and Ydrilan Riverblades. I'm usually ambivalent about that, but I thought it was fun here.
>>97057034The hair sculpting is exquisite.
If they did 3e they NEED to set it somewhere with good terrain that isn't the poop from a butt meat trees of 2e. Like it is genuinely the one thing keeping me from buying most 2e boxsets
>>97060964Set it in chamon so we get weird metal and mineral flora
>>97060964Back when it was still set in the Eightpoints I was saying future editions could be set in the Gladiatorium in Azyr. With that framing it'd be easier to change the scenery from one box to another, and it'd be easier to include all factions with less contrived explanations for why they're all in one spot.
>>97060998It could be set in a ruined city in Aqshy or some unearthed ancient age temple in Ulgu or a Shyish necropolis. What I'm trying to say is GHUR IS GHAY
>>97061012>What I'm trying to say is GHUR IS GHAYGhur itself is fine but theys barely used its predatory nature in terrain.
>>97061012>a ruined city in AqshyNot Embergard again. No way.
>>970609643e would be set in the Spitewood, a dense and predatory forest where even the trees hunt for prey. How is it different from the Gnarlwood? The trees this time would actually be made of wood this time, not meat. Enjoy.
>>97061055>the trees are made of woodoh thank god
>>97061032It's funny that we have much more focus on Embergard instead of Verdigris, the other city founded in the twin-tailed crusade, which, unlike Embergard, actually still exists.
>>97061074>City that was destroyed and thus can have warbands running around it willy nilly gets more attention than city that is intactstrange.
>darkwater rumored to cost $250 >have around 2k points of Nurgle but much of that is my glottkin>really want the new Nurgle stuff>considering spending that money on expanding my khorne or IJ spearheads instead >crossing my fingers the Russians can get their recasts soon
Why's there never been a book like Forbidden Power or Malign Sorcery again? It could have been cool to have a book with additional rules for casting magic in the Era of the Beast. "Savage Sorceries" has a nice ring to it, no?
>>97061117its always cheapest buying the stuff you want from ebay at launch
>>97061126you take your krondspine incarnate and ENJOY it
>>97061117I'm not sweating it right now. It's gonna be expensive enough that I know I won't be getting it until next year if I decide it's worth it. Christmas and NY are enough of a money drain as is. So I'm just gonna put it off for a while, maybe look up some reviews, and check if it becomes available at a discount later. There's no rush.
>>97061136I wonder why they never released the spider thingy if they actually had a finished model ready to go out on shelves.

Luckily ebay is still pretty good for deals. I'm incredibly jelaous of brits for having access to Troll Trader, what a treasure trove of a site.
>>97061588We still have access in the US for Troll Trader it's just that we have a 10% bonus fee on top.
>>97061614the import tax+shipping fees is way more than 10% for your average single model.
>>97061636it's usually 5 pound shipping every time which if you buy in bulk isn't too bad. IT's just when you're buying small amounts of models where it stings.
>>97061557Umm...please use the Games Workshop approved name. Buttfukka Cokkaz™.
>>97061377Nah>>97061473Yeah it's fucking insane>>97061550Yeah high wages means it's not unaffordable, just not worth it IMO.
>>97061473I'm genuinely curious how much they think it'll sell. These kinds of RPG's aren't tremendously popular, it's attached to AoS which isn't their flagship title, it doesn't even appeal to AoS players because the characters are all boring safe generic fantasy tropes instead of clearly being one of the unique AoS factions. And the worst part is in of the heroes is a Brienne of Tarth if her face got stuck in a blender and one is a fuzzy dwarf guy. Outside of Nurgle die hards, I don't see people picking up the box. I forsee a very rapid price decrease as it takes up valuable shelf space sitting around. >>97061676I'm guessing they think people who run tables will have their friends chip in to buy it, or are getting it for their boardgame shop, which won't be many people at all.
Who did it better? TOW or AoS?
>>97061738Obviously tow. Tow can do no wrong.
People are buying the scalped presales so who knows how sales are going
>>97061738>inb4 but one of them has a cape
>>97061738>boring human knight>boring human knightdon't care I'm only in it for freakshit
>>97061694I spend a lot of time in the AoS sphere engaging in the “discussion,” researching rules, looking at models, and painting fantasy stuff. So much so that I forget AoS is nothing compared to 40k. I have this idea in my head that AoS is more popular that it really is because I stopped giving much of a shit about 40K outside of the occasional model to hobby for fun. Do we have any idea how large the gap is between 40k and AoS? Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy that AoS has no secondaries and people get into it for the love of the models and game. 40k having the best “lore and world” is a fucking joke (not that AoS is much better) but it’s serving as a good containment game for the waacfags, secondaries, and autists. I agree with you that GW is overestimating the popularity of AoS and Nurgle minis within it, which let’s be honest is the main pull for the game compared to the small handful of heroes that may get shitty token rules or get lumped into a command-corps esque unit.
>>97061778I'm not one of those sales number tracking autists, but I think comparing the sheer volume of releases 40k gets compared to AoS, and the huge popularity of it's secondary media like video games and other stuff, it's safe to say it's a massive gap.
well thats a no can do.
>>97060131I've probably saved about $200 on my Hedonites stuff thus far on Ebay alone. Sniped some characters for about half off, got the Spearhead for $100 flat, and 3 units of Painbringers ranging from $30 to $50 a box.The deals are there, but usually they get bid-fucked if you're trying for something popular. I saw a listing for 3k points of Stormcast for $100 - most of it was squatted units, but Yndrasta, Bastian Carthalos, and the dragon riders were way worth that price alone.
>>97061798I was really not at all a fan of the ogroid thaumaturge's design but the darkwater gremlin really puts it in perspective how much worse things can be.

I was thinking buying Darkwater, but i will buy the new Nurgle stuff instead. They grew in me, like a disgusting and bloated flatworm in my intestines. I like the new aesthetic they have.
I'll buy Darkwater but once I've amassed a 50 dollar coupon at my LGS.unless the book doesn't lay perfectly flat then it's a bust and the worst product ever made
>>97061778>Do we have any idea how large the gap is between 40k and AoS?I'm sure it's colossal. I wonder if we could glean any info by looking at data from Tabletop Battles and BCP for tourneys.

Weird that Maggotkin didn't get a new foot hero.

>>97062018>>97062020Do you think GW will do it? I mean, they put Cursed City's Radukar, skeletons and the zombies for the SBGL, but not the rest; and outside Darkwater we already have new Pestigors (2 more than the ones in Darkwater and with other aesthetic).I wish they make a Pestigor Shaman hero with the style of the no-Darkwater Pestigors.
>>97062056
>>97062056>>97062058They will put them in in the new battletome but will they stay permanently or get squatted like Cursed City guys in the next tome? Time will tell. Also I suspect there is more Dark Water stuff coming like for Cursed City.
>>97062073We'll be able to see exactly how the sprues are organized this weekend, I'd say. But from the grainy early leak pic we had, it seems they've learned from CC a bit and better divided up the sprues.

>>97062266>40k already leans tzeentch in that direction.eh...thats kinda the reason why I dont want them to go there. GWs direction of handling Egyptian themes has been too safe imo and is too familiar for my liking, leading it to just be whatever. A native American/Mesoamerican appraoch would be a fresher take. Like you could create this conflict where seraphon adopt the philosophy of quetzalcoatl while tzeentch also adopts tezcatlipoca.

>>97062309>Like you could create this conflict where seraphon adopt the philosophy of quetzalcoatl while tzeentch also adopts tezcatlipocaI'm sorry brother but there are not many people that would care or understand the obscure mesoamerican mythological premise you suggested. They don't even give the lizardmen nahuatl inspired names anymore, asking for this kind of stuff is way to deep in the weeds for GW to do, much less do well.

>>97062338Yeah there's like a bunch of other shit like life or magic and other things. >>97062361Skirmish was fun but half-arsed and extremely unbalanced. I still remember the Plague Monk with a Nuke Book meme. It didn't stop me from playing the shit out of that booklet but whenever I look back it is clear it was more a supplement for people wanting to try the big AoS but with a dozen of minis before splashing on bigger armies than anything else. The WD version was an unquestionable upgrade even if for making the point calculator official. I still have my Skirmish booklet around, it brings too many good memories to just throw it away.

>>97062428This summer maybe, when the skaven x cities box drops

I'm guilty of liking Spearhead quite much so it's my gateway drug game-mode of choice but now I want to play the Realmgate Wars campaign again but with Skirmish forces to start a new army. It's a shame that Wahapedia started to support AoS only with 2E but on the other hand any reason is good enough to page through those books again.
>>97062438I don't believe the difference is that big. From my personal experience they seem to be similar in popularity and while 40k is quoted to be the #1, AoS is usually #2 or #3 according to those sales charts that get posted from quarter to quarter.

Is there a reason why besides Gotrek books, Ushoran and the new Lizard novel - almost all new AoS Black Library books have female protagonists? This is kinda ridiculous.
>>97062560>Are you gonna go through the effort of tracking down a helfort for all the sieges?Nah, I have plenty of terrain already and I was never a huge fan of the Dreadhold kits in the first place. >>97062674>>97062687Imagine outing yourself as a newfag this easily. It's not about deleting posts. It's all the way around. Back during the KO and IDK era a Polish janny was spamming the whole board with Shaerk threads. He was deliberately derailing /aosg/ as well. At some point it was so bad people started to get banned for reporting those threads and posts. A group of Anons started a thread on /qa/ demanding any kind of action on 4chan's side. /tg. got purged a few times, shit calmed down a bit but a lot of /aosg/ Anons remained banned for a few weeks for false-reports. >>97061738I don't even like the manticore guy, but it absolutely dunks on the foot knights. They're probably tow's worst sculpts, just so badly proportioned. Odd because the other new bret stuff looked pretty good, especially the damsel.Sidenote, but I hope the full arch knight unit looks more like the command corps ones, or the steel rook, than the manticore guy. He's surprisingly boring for a guy with an enormous manticore shield and headpiece.
>>97063084In the Reynolds canon he was a champion of humanity in the Age of Myth and spends the series helping his old warrior brother, once a ruler of a human kingdom and now a Stormcast who has forgotten him, find Nagash at Sigmar's behest. Then he quests for a way to save his friend's soul with other Stormcast distrustful of him after Nagash killed his former friend and stole it but ultimately he cannot oppose Nagash. It's tragic af. Lots of contemplation on the juxtaposition of their fates as immortal warriors, the entrophy of their identity over time, chivalry, etc. GW just ignored all that though for official canon because muh WHF familiarity, just recycle his WHF character. God, AoS is such slop now
>>97063107>He's surprisingly boring for a guy with an enormous manticore shield and headpiece. It iterates on the old knight design from the first Quest, the anniversary of which coincides with Darkwater, so I can see why they might have held back from adding extraneous elements on top of the classic look. While the model looks fine on its own merits, I still think there should have been something added to convey that the hero has an ability to spontaneously combust. Just adding some flames somewhere on his person or on the basing might have done the trick.
>>97063143>I still think there should have been something added to convey that the hero has an ability to spontaneously combust.and how could they do that when they decided it would do that only after the model was already sculpted?

>>97063143Yeah I get what they were going for, aside from the kurnothi and bearman all of the heroes are nods to more classic warhammer quest archetypes. I think the knight most of all just kind of ends up in this betweenzone of not quite classic, not quite AoS that made him look not as good as he could be. Don't get me wrong he's not bad or anything, and some of the alternate paintjobs they showed off made him look a bit better imo.I do agree his fluff is also not really reflected well imo. Should've put a little brazier in his headpiece or shield embossing or something. Hell if they went full freakshit they shoulda made his shield spit fire. Also I wanna see frills, I know thats very brettonian, but if Nubrets aren't using them CoS might as well.

>>97063205The way I see it the point of their streaming service (aside from diversifying their portfolio) is consumer retention rather than expansion. The point being to give people who are already paying customers another thing to sink their time and money into, which conversely keeps them from looking elsewhere or even leaving GW's ecosystem. Reaching potential new customers is good if it happens, but it's not the point.

>>97062438If we're talking about fans of the brand, than yeah 10 to 1 is probably an understatement. 40k probably has more tertiaries than aos does primaries (to be fair 40k tertiaries most likely outnumber their primaries too).Just look at the youtube videos on wh's official channel for the recent reveal show. Cathay got like 20k views, maggotkin and darkwater around 40k each, and then there's the 500 worlds video with like 1.4 million lmao.As for actual players however I don't think the difference is quite that stark, I'd say like 3:1 at absolute worst. >>97063257my local scene isnt small, i play in a fairly large capitol city that has 4 wargaming stores of considerable size (8+ warhammer tables each) and another 4 smaller shops that only deal in paper (cards, comics, dnd, collectibles like comic statues and funko pops)the general purpose monthly edition comic market is D E A D. at least in the US. all the comic sellers have switched to dealing almost exclusively in rare issues and omnibusses/collection books and other companion books like "the art of artist X". they can still order you a monthly comic if you request it, and i know one shop that does actually stock monthly comics but only for specific comics that they know they have a dedicated returning customer for, but by and large people are not going in for the western 20 page magazine style comics.manga is a different story though, they cant keep that shit on the shelves but my original point about netflix is that they would benefit far more from just the sheer exposure and eyeballs by hosting their animations on a major streaming service instead of their own small little boutique service that even most of their own dedicated fanbase doesnt subscribe to. 40k arguably doesnt need the exposure, and has already gotten shit like secret level on mainstream platforms, but aos which desperately needs it isnt getting it. its the classic GW case of the thing they invested in more doing well because they invested in it more, so they see its doing well, and as a result invest more in it, while the thing they dont invest in does poorly because they arent investing in it, so they see its doing poorly so they dont invest in it further. GW is notorious for this self fulfilling expectation cycle.
