>Get pre-primed WizKids minis
>Only want to put some black Vallejo primer on them and then hit them with a white dry brush for a statue look
>Worried double priming the minis will look terrible
Should I strip them before doing this? I don't intent to paint them any further after the dry brushing is done.

Discuss minis and show your work here, I guess.

I sprayed primer on a preprimed mini once and it never cured properly, had a weird sticky texture. Painted over it and it was okay.

It's already primed, so I agree with the other anon, just put down a black base coat of normal paint.

It'll look terrible, but not becaue of doublepriming (you can do a delicate coat with an airbrush to kill colors without fucking up the texture/detail), but because the sweatshop primer is garbage-tier and already obscures details.

That said, I have a few (maybe even Wizkids too?) minis in the same situation, if anyone has a confirmed working method of stripping the prepaints without harming the soft plastic (it doesn't need to be 100%, just enough to unfuck the detail), I'll appreciate the solution.

Thats a good question, since the m8mis are cheap and the details in the mold not that bad.

The minis already look terrible. Just prime over them with grey and drybrush with white. Use a brown wash if they look too clean.

As with the mageknight/heroclix/wizkids minis of yesteryear, the prepainted minis are not painted with paint, but with colored plastic. The most effective way to remove it is to swirl the mini in acetone for 10-30 seconds and scrub the paint off. Repeat as necessary.

Looks very much like paint to me. What's the difference?

I strip the primer off with Super Clean and prime them with an airbrush. When I'm finished with the Super Clean, I let the sediment settle down at the bottom and pour the clean liquid into a separate container.

Was looking for the painting general, I guess this is it.
Just picked up the Army painter fanatic 50 paint set, finally going to do something about my sea of grey.
Going to use the rustoleum primer but what do most people do about varnish? I have heard a lot of mixed things, would kind of prefer a brush on varnish because I don't have an airbrush as of yet.

/Wip/ is what you seek. I use GW because they're truly idiot proof and I'm shit scared of fucking up my models. But /wip/ will give you a more informed answer than me.
