Any armies you’re considering starting or dipping your toes into and why?
>>

Potentially daughters of khaine depending on their new range. I’d opt for lumineth instead but painting the faces, especially the helmeted ones, seem like a pain. I fucking love vanari and the river blades though.
>>

Is the joke that they share a faction keyword?

>>97063483
One of the earlier articles mentioned that the Everspring is especially potent and that drinking from it was a very rare privilege. Inara is plausibly one of the lucky few.
>>
>>97063468
DoK have so much potential but they just like Idoneth seem stuck in this loop of never receiving a actual second wave.
>>
>>97063589

I dont know what to expect from the new dwarfs kits so my interest depends on their design.

Daughters of Khaine are cool. You dislike them, fine. No need to get all that upset.

Redpill me on BoK. I heard they’re a big Timmy army now and I’m looking to branch out to 2nd collection outside of Nurgle. I got some gitz and an IJ spearhead but IJ models aren’t quite it for me and I don’t want to own/transport a loonshrine in a horde faction.

I painted 80% the khorne spearhead and I wouldn’t mind painting even more blood warriors but the Skullreapers are gonna need to be proxied with chosen or something cause that kit is kinda derpy
>>

It's pretty simple: Boring things are boring.

Either cherry blossom sylvaneth or a Shyish CoS where half the models are skeletons
>>
>>97063631
NTA but that is a hilarious sentence.

They will get one kit with dual options. When you realize other factions are getting quite large waves and Daughters get ond FUCKING kit.
>>
How credible were the recent Bonereaper leaks?

I am siked to get new bonereaper units but im pessimistic and got the feelings its going to be a pity hero
>>
>>97063644
Anon I have good news for you. Bok can be easy as hell to transport with its two army of renown’s. One will let you play 4-6 blood thirsters + skarbrand, the other lets you play like 21 hero’s. The latter can be turned into a fun kitbash project.
>>
>>97063654
Well I didn’t say they were only getting one kit. Just that the only one that got mentioned in the rumors was a dual kit to match krethusa or morathis party.

I dig them, but I'm also a psycho trying to get the all foot heroes army to work. But also just have a bunch of Wrathmongers and Skullreapers I got cheap. I love the idea of a bit more Unga Bunga but you do big damage and have fun effects.
>>
>>97063674
NTA but from that leak by Reformation named TGA user, it did sound as just one kit with dual build. That is not much for a army that got basically nothing since 1ed.
>>
>>97063631
>a dual kit
Some people will disagree with me, but I hope the range gets a new hag queen. The current situation where two foot heroes are locked in the murdercart kit is laughable. Sure Underworlds has provided some great proxies, but the fact remains that you can't buy just a hag queen. It's ridiculous and only tolerable because people will offload the bits they don't use.
>>
>>97063659

>>97064008
This model specifically looks like ass, as does most of the forgeworld chorf stuff. Though this one also doesn't have much chaos iconography on it honestly.
I liked classic chorfs the best, one of the few oldhammer armies I would probably collect. I don't think HoH are a bad take necessarily on the whole, though there's a few specific design cues I don't like. Beards should've been wider, don't like the swords and spear, blunderbusses look awful. Don't mind the angular motifs, and even the art deco I can appreciate. Overall a 7/10 imo. I'd say classic chorfs > HoH >>> legion of ass-bore

>>

I have 2 doomseekers, one from quest and the other because during that little fyreslayer lot I found they thought he was a vulkite so he was 2 dollars.

I grabbed a HoH starter box for cheap, how quickly do rules roll over with updates on aos? Is it like in 40k where your codex is out of date before it even arrives or is it still relevant outside of the fluff
>>
>>97064169
I think it's better than what most opinions paint it as, but it's jarring in a few ways:
-no point in having a forge without an anvil, these things go hand in hand, not just practically but aesthetically, even the orc character got that right
-the fluff of it getting summoned onto the battlefields is lame and cheap as fuck, especially given the very mundane mechanisms at its back
-said mechanisms end up looking alien when presented with the one other type of 'tech' the fyreslayers run around, the magmapikes, there's no visual continuity

in a vacuum, as a scenery piece for dwarfs, the pizza oven is fine if incomplete, but as a magically summoned crucible for runic dwarfs, it might as well be replaced with a scratchbuilt volcano instead
>>
>>97064232
all the beards in the vulkite kit are almost perfectly symmetrical, that's what makes the unit so bad, way more than one model taking on a power pose
>>
In case you missed it, there was a stealth update today that let HoH take Regiments of Renown, including Grotsmas ones.
>>
Bald dwarves. This is a possibility.

Please no more mustacheless dwarves though
>>
>>97064259
its on the same 3ish year cycle that 40k is, with every 2 editions being an index, but aos just had its index like a year and a half ago, so that HoH tome should be more or less valid for at least the next 2 years or so.

but its really hard to give an estimate beyond that. modern GW appears to be accelerating its book release cycle and the scope of its indexing and erratas, so as for the future its a little hard to tell. but if trends hold, then that HoH tome should be valid until probably 2028-2029
>>
>>97064314
as long as you dont take the couple that are flared out to the sides, its really not noticable at all. im halfway through painting 20 of them, its not as bad as you make it sound ,especially if you take the weapon and shield combo which further breaks up the symmetry

Hello there anons! I played a game yesterday and had a swell time so I thought I'd share it! Please forgive my unpainted models as I a humble paintlet who just loves building, collecting and playing these fun models. Anyways the battleplan was Bountiful Equinox and it was my Sons of Behmat vs Hellsmiths of Hashut. My tactics were Intercept and Recover (the targets were both artillery pieces and his ashen elder) and Restless Energy my gameplan is simple just try to smash him hard and control the board. Deployment was finished and I gave my opponent first turn the picrel is the results of that turn. He moved up hos Vandalz to screen me while summoning endless spells to help as his Bombard and Death-Shrieker fired at my Warstomper to deal 14 damage. (The A tokens you see are his intercept and recover targets.)

they made that ruling so people wouldnt be endlessly trying to pixelfuck a tenth of a millemeter. while the ruling may not be mathematically precise, the intention is that if you can retreat at least 3 inches, you have retreated from combat, and any less you have not.

this whole thing is to head off autism where one player says "i retreat out of combat" and positions his models just outside a units combat range, and then the other player comes in with "uuhmmmmm ahcktshually you can see here if you measure precisely this model is still one sixteenth of an inch within 3 inches and thus your unit is still locked in combat sir"

the designers commentary might as well read" stop being such pieces of shit you know what they meant to do". but since they cant actually say that in official commentary, we get this instead.
>>
>>97064785

This turn was devastating ngl. I had 5 command points as my list was 1930 points, I used one lasthero phase to try and summon the Krondspine Incarnate that I had from the glowy later artifact, it failed but this turn I tried again and got him out. My foes magical interventioned the lifeswarm near his shooting but I was undaunted by such magic. Moving straight ahead with my units I decided to eliminate his screens and open mysef for either a double turn or force his army to split up. My shooting phase began and a few vandalz on the left side were blessed by my rocks leaving a slight gap I could exploit but what most shocked both of us was a mancrusher rock hitting the dominator engine and deal 3 damage to it. A covering fire was declared by the Death-Shrieker into my warstomper yet an all out defense saw only 4 damage grace my giant. Then it was time for the charges most of my guys made the short charges into the screens but the warstomper sprinted past them and into the dominator. Another 3 mortals from my impact hits rocked the construct, as hobgrots were smushed under my feet. Now in combat was where it got spicy. Bu using my colossal slam rampage on the dominator I repositioned it (while doing another 3 mortal wounds) to allow myself a pile-in into his Infernal Razers. Usage lf all out attack and splitting saw both Razers and Dominator join the earth in which they despoiled. The endless spells but some damage on my mancrusher but the grots where obliterated, I even piled into the Cohort blob and peeled off a good chunk of them. 10 points on primaries and I got the first part of Restless Energy. Now for the Roll Off

>eermm ok but i might tell the store owner about it if he plays comp
>>
>>97064935
the game is based not based on 1 thing, it is based on 2 things

1: math

2: intention

because these are physical models on a table moved by hand using measurements from tape measures often held half a foot above the models so as not to accidently hit them and damage them, a certain level of approximation and good natured yielding to intention is needed to maintain a functioning wargame. any time one player is trying to catch the other out on technicalities of fractions of an inch against their intentions from an almost imperceptible misplacement, it is just bad for the game and the community

anyone actually playing the game in good faith knows this and doesnt need it explained to them, but FAQs and commentaries like the above are an attempt to head off the few players not acting in good faith

>Is there something wrong with the faction?

Having played them like 4 times now, they are dreadfully dry and boring. Katakros is basically required and is fun because he's a blender, morteks are fucking 2 inch base move and the lamest slow chaff ever. Most of what you do is just buff your dudes to hit slightly better, you get one offensive spell that's pretty neat.

Also all your foot heroes are wizards, and you're pretty limited in options for units. (Also the terrain is stupid big and for the size basically does nothing) Endless spells are fun, mostly because they're just units. Morghasts are fun but you basically need them reinforced and if you reinforce them that's like half your list. Arkhan is there too, he's fine but nothing really special.
>>
>>97064987
okay what if i say i intend to be 0" away from your model (because thats what base to base means) and your unit moves 3"

how do you retreat >3" from me if you only move 3"

during 2026 they're getting an almost complete overhaul, the only safe kits to buy as of now seems to be the stonehorn/thundertusk kit and the gorgers

the basic infantry is getting updated
the ironguts are getting updated
the leadbelchers seem to be going away completely and replaced by a unit of hunters with crossbows, so if you still want some lads with cannons get them now and use them to count as the hunters coming the update
gnoblars may or may not disappear as their own unit
we have no info on the ironblaster/scraplauncher, it might stay because it's not in the list of the kits going away, or the leaker might have genuinely forgotten about it
mournfangs riders are getting updated

new plastic butchers
new plastic tyrant
new butcher special character (artillery type, so we're expecting not!skrag)
new maneater special character (female ogre with a cannon for an arm. no other maneater in sight)
new ogrelord special character (daughter of not!goldtooth, on a big monster)

not even the scenery pieces are safe, but they're cool enough that I recommend getting them anyway

I rolled a 5 and he rolled a 2, using his once per game reroll from having more drops than I he tried again....with a 3.

I took the double turn (may god have mercy on my soul)

But this was a more simple round, he countercasted a hashut spell to give my Beast-smasha half movement and that did matter but I just began to press inward. The poor infernal Cohort were stuffed into bags and my Kraken-eaters net and just succumb to 3 gargants wailing on them, as did burning head and the jaws. Even one of my mancrushers ran in and killed his Daemonsmith. But his Death-shriker held out only taking 2 wounds from my now quite hurt warstomper. I couldn't get into Urk-Taar because of his movement debuff and the Bulls redeployed away but his front line was entirely gone. Another 10 points for me as I can't score tactics on a double turn.

It can't be, your bases aren't overlapping at any point, they cannot occupy the same point, so a contact means being right next to that point

Now the Hellsmith's get-back begins channeling the dpp into Urak and Bulls they charge into my Beast-smasha but I still got a plan, once again I use colossal slam to move Urak between the Beast-smasha and the Incarnate, finally I pop the Furious Temper heroic trait on my Smasha to give him -1 to save but +2 attacks on everything. I all-out defense him against the the mass of Bull-Centaurs and receive 18 damage but the swing back is legendary and the ENTIRE unit is wiped. Urak does some more damage but my Smasha still lives, and urak takes some minor damage from the incarnate. Meanwhile shooting from earlier in the round combined with the warstomper unable to kill the artillery spelled his demise as the emerald lifeswarm smothers him, although I do timber about both shooting pieces. He gains 10 points of his tactics but own no objectives.

the distance between two objects that are in contact is zero. thats... just the definition of contact. there really isnt any argument against that, it's a definition
if the distance between two objects is >0 then theyre not in contact
>>
>>97065119
I don’t have an issue with the circles. I’d generally prefer them to be clear or in-theme with the table but the issue that arises with making a physical token is that the rules say you can place models on the 40mm space of the objective. Having a physical token means your model can’t occupy that space, therefore reducing the total area a unit can control while also introducing a big pillar of “no” in terms of coherence/ranges. I mean, in a casual game 2 sane people can agree when a model or two should be sitting on top of the token’s area, but we all know this hobby’s tendency to attract the maladjusted.
>>
>>97065161
>the distance between two objects that are in contact is zero
no, it isn't
if the closest point of one base to the next is point 0, then the other base cannot physically be at point zero as well without overlapping, it can only be at 0+000...0001, because it cannot overlap
>>

>>
>>97065288
that changes nothing, the distance between the two cannot be zero unless they overlap at the point of contact, and they cannot overlap because they're not dimensionless mathematical shapes, they're physical objects.
base contact is a practical term but a theoretical misnomer.
and in both theory and practice and rules as intended, you cannot move a model further back by 3" without it being more than 3" away from the model it was close to.

There are mountains of the " While stocks last " HoH Army Sets that you can buy on discount months after the army release. That is an objective flop. HoH flopping killed Warcry. They were going to provide rules for them but when the dust settled they couldn't justify it. I still do not understand the lore of the Mortal Realms. So they're essentially infinite but not really, and they're all basically flat planets in a solar system. What does that infinity mean exactly? Is it like, infinite land you can just keep walking on? Or is it like infinite ocean with continents strewn in?

And I know, "It depends on the Realm", but like, take the most human populated/most earth-like realm (don't know which that is). What does it look like?
>>
>>97066355
Nigga they aren't infiniet go back to fucking Youtube where you came from
>>
>>97066355
Just imagine "realms" as basically just another planet themed after a wind of magic. They go on forever but the boundaries are vague and mostly just defined when you start to melt by getting too close to the edge.

They're finite as well since there is an edge and if you get tossed off you basically get scattered to dust. Most "earth-like" is vague but probably Azyr or Ghyran but realistically any biome can be in any realm it's just more themed to whatever wind of magic is there. But cities are there, villages, towns, garrisons, people can live in the realm of death just fine it's just gloomier and has more skeletons walking around than say the realm of fire which is dryer and hotter.
>>
>>97066319
God, what I wouldn’t do for another one of those.
>>
>>97066355
You're taking the setting waaaay too seriously. It's not supposed to be self consistent or fleshed out like Fantasy or 40k. It's supposed to be an open setting to allow for maximum creativity to flourish. Defining things would only impose limits. AoS is more so about dope models and less so about a self consistent logical setting.
>>
>>97066370
this was the 1e lore
>>
>>97066344
Hopefully never. On top of the stoneguard models being an effective retard filter they're also fun to paint.
>>

>Should I imagine mostly land covering a realm or mostly ocean like in the real world?

There is just oceans like normal, for all intents and purposes what you see on a map is what you're getting. The edges of the realm and what goes on there is not the most well explored. Just assume that what you see is what you get in 99% of cases.
>>
>>97066457
do you have a crisp map of ulgu?

Gw purposefuly keeps the full maps of the realms vague as fuck, instead they'll focus on one or two important continents/landmasses/whatevers per realm, like you see in >>97066457 for shyish, or picrel for ghur. So while we can't say for sure what the average ratio is, there's definitely massive oceans. Ulgu and chamon have some nautical themes, so their proportion of ocean might be bigger.
Realms are not infinitd by the way, they're just enormous. Again, gw keeps things vague, but I think it's stated somewhere that it would take a lifetime to walk from the centre of a given realm towards its edge, whatever that means. Additionally, the farther you get from the centre of a realm the more saturated with respective magic and unstable the place becomes, so only really a certain portion of the realm is actually hospitable. Weird shit starts happening once you get close to the edge, where the realm's magic is strongest. Hysh' edge was bright enough to blind tyrion, the literal god of light. His eyes just melted in his skull.
But yeah back to basics cosmology wise to keep things simple you can essentially visualize the mortal realms as 8 fuckhuge flat planets, each themed to a specific wind.

I have the khorne vanguard and I’m thinking of getting the Chaos daemons 40K box since it’s lots of points and the blood rushers can join the mighty skull crushers I got to make 6 of either. My problem is filling out the rest of the points with something that can support and improve cohesion.

Does khorne often mix between mortal and daemon or do they tend to swing hard one way? Bloodletters and warriors would be a quick way to get an army down but how do you support them respectively?

Start a Cities of Sigmar Army
Start a Stormcast Eternal Army
Start a Soulblight Gravelords Army
Start a Maggotkin of Nurgle Army
Start a Night Lord Army
Start a World Eater Army
Start a Emperor's Children Army

can we still consider maggotkin a pseudo space marine army? they dont even really have the armor beyond the rotswords. anyways
>5(4?) space marine considerations
I cant in good faith tell you to start cities because its a pain to paint and you will sell it off halfway through. personally id choose between maggotkin or gravelords. Nightlords are cool but I think fucking ironhands are getting more support soon.

I bought a 3d printed great unclean one from etsy. In case anyone is on the fence, for $40 you can get a pretty sick model. I haven't painted any nurgle yet, but I am pretty stoked to paint this thing
>>
>>97068713
>who spent a better part of a month just painting the steel helms
They don't look that hard ro paint. A lot of detail but it's just metal, cloth and wood.

The scheme in your pic is pretty achievable, that living city guy is a nutcase and chose lime green trim on white armour with red freehand. It was always going to take him forever

A refreshed dragon would be cool, yeah. Though aren't sorceresses with dragon mounts actually in CoS? Always felt like an oversight.
>>
HoH are starting to compete.
>>
>>97069021
Yes they are CoS. Dragons are Malerions gimmick and are probably getting moved to his army when it has a release.
>>

Lots of potential there if the one guy who bought them managed to 5th place a tournament
>>
>>97069040
>Dragons are Malerions gimmick
No they aren't, the ordo serpentis has nothing to do with malerion any more than the daughters of khaine do.
>>
>>97069040
>>97069106
Did they ever explain malerion's draconic form from early aos? I'm aware he didn't fuse with seraphon like people thought, but what the fuck is going on there?
>>
>>97069138
Malerions official lore now is that is true form is pure shadow and he can appear anyway he wants, including as a dragon. Most of the time these days he just looks like an Aelf, though.
>>
>>97069138

It's never mentioned at all.

Mhm, I see. I hope he keeps it when/if he ever shows up. I guess it could also be a double model situation like with morathi, would be relatively thematic.
>>
>>97068734
That’s one of EmanG’s TWW rips.
He got sued after multiple lawsuit notices cause he was selling them. You can still find what I hope is all of them on the gram. I’m actually thinking of printing a skarbrand and a crap ton of bloodletters cause I’m not about to pay for those ancient bloodletter sculpts and that overpriced skarbrand. It’s mostly Skaven and chaos demon stuff that I’ve found with some other factions here or there.

I literally have that same GUO but the chains on the flail broke off and I changed my mind about painting and fielding one. So it’s just stuck in limbo.

giving every grand alliances a cogfort is fucking retarded, why would death armies use them? Why would sylvaneth or Idoneth use them? What about seraphon?
>>
>>97069262
The cogfort was built with wood gathered from a sacred grove, the sylvaneth slaughtered the builders and reawakened the woodwork, which now sprouts with new life that grows over and through the cogfort.
Where there was once a machine armored in dead wood, there's now a liberated sylvaneth wearing a dead machine, a symbol of resiliency and vengeance.

But it's going to look like shit if you're not good at conversions.

You shut your mouth, they're funny little shitbulls
>>
>>97069304
They will probably be very different from the normal Cogfort (metal, cannons, and steam). For example, the Silvanet's will surely be some construct made of trees, the Seraphon's some kind of heavily armored giant dinosaur, and the Idonet's some kind of mobile fortress made of coral. And the only similarity they will have with a normal Cogfort will be the name, and nothing else.
>>
>>97069414
Cogfort Crabfort is an excellent idea
>>
>>97069304
>>97069566
Huh? They'll just be regiment of renown options for every grand alliance, like gargants.
>>
This sounds an awful lot like when 40k tried to give every faction Flyers or every faction Knight mecha. It ends up warping the game horrifically or being abandoned to obscurity within a few years.
>>
>>97069571
they're not releasing a cogfort kit for each army
>>
>>97069589
Yeah, a mercenary RoR at most
>>
>>97069571
It'll be a one off >>97069601 which makes sense considering how expensive cogforts will be, would be better for gw to have them spread out instead of only in 1 army. Same thing happened with megas.
Gargants also aren't as big a deal as knights because aos has no toughness system, you don't need a dedicated anti knight tax in every list to deal with them, presumably cogforts will also not suffer from this. Would be cool to have some kind of facing mechanic though.

I think they could get a "cogfort" that's more of a moving tree like the ravenous gnarl oak.
>>

An underwater themed fort with glass domes would be tight as shit
>Seraphon
probably the hardest to do well. It would either be something more like the dread saurian or bastiodon that has a platform on top or a magical mesoamerican temple themed mechanical fort that was part of their space ships or whatever, but I really doubt they'd go in that direction.
>>
>>97068650

No, fuck off with this retreading of fagtasy battles story where "chaos inevitably wins hurr durr." Its been done, its boring and predictable like a wet soft turd sliding down a glass panel. You already know its gonna leave a disgusting smear and its gonna smell even worse.

95% of the fucking realms are completely unexplored, lets have an edition set in chamon, or an edition set in ulgu and hysh.

All we've gotten so far is ghur, ghyran, aqshy and shyish.
