Trying to paint some Iron Warriors as a taste breaker from my guard. Here's the test model still WIP. I'm yet to do the base (thinking a martian dust sorta thing to contrast with the armour) and the transfers on the shoulders. Not really happy with the eye glow or the hazard stripes but it's my first time doing the glow at least and hazards are a pain to do on curved surfaces. Anyone got any tips or should I just use masking tape?

I have come to really enjoy the Reavers a lot painting my Exorcists so I wanted this guy to be really cool since he’s gonna be leading them.He came with a wimpy little smoke effect so I beefed that up a lot, and he didn’t come with grav chutes for whatever reason so I made my own out of some mechanical wings I had laying around.The scroll cloak is just painters tape and modge podge.

Once I got over the kitbashing indecisiveness at the start and glued the wings on (Which Im really glad I went with) the whole paintjob came together really well. I really love how he turned out. I did try making it as bright as possible with pure white before I layered in contrast over it. I think it pops a lot better in real life (really looks like some fiery exhaust heat) but I found it difficult to capture all of that in a picture. I had to use flash to get that pic angle at the bottom and its still a lot darker than it actually looks.Something to keep in mind for next time I suppose. I will eventually get to the actual chaos jump lord and his accompanying raptors, so maybe Ill do their jump pack boosters in bright blue glow, like my soulblight skeletons.

I used ak ocean blue-ak turquoise-baharroth blue-white, building it up very slowly. Afterwards I smoothed it out with some glazes. Make sure to use a brush with very soft bristles and only move it in one direction from your established light source. Makeup brushes like picrel are fantastic for this. Oh and keep it just a tiny bit damp so you won't get a chalky finish.

You can however use water fine with enough practice and learning your paints (all paints and brands have different).
