>>97068779I'm not the one from 10 hours ago. Phosphex complaining always ends up derailing into "well 1.0 was bad because people could spam too many high AP high Str templates".So what if they came back? Think of a Str 100 AP0 small blast. It's a small blast, so it hits 3 models tops. A fucking Hundred of Str... but instant death is gone, so it does 1W, and Penetrating hits don't cause statuses, so at D1 it would be actually bad antitank. My point is people are too scared of high AP. So scared, plasma is literally inviable. Access to Disintegrators would be too problematic if they weren't AP3.Phosphex' panic 3 does make it very useful, maybe more so than before. I guess people didn't like it also leaving behind swathes of dangerous terrain, which was also a thing that was lost in the simplification, RIP bookkeeping. But high AP guns being AP3 Rending X helps only helps terminators, and those terminators have a 4++ on their now T5 2W. They can take it, better than ever before. And there's Saturnines now.
>>97068577>the only way to deepstrike a Saturnine Centurion is to attach him to a 260 pts praetorFuck your Saturnine Centurion lmao
>>97068897A lot of games around here devolved in to people spaming tarantulas and between 6 to 12 rapiers with quad guns with carnisters. those games are very unfun.

Toughness means literally nothing you clown.>All plasma is unviable!>All disintegrators are AP 3!Yeah, you don't play the game. You haven't even read the rules yourself, all you do is regurgitate opinions from other nogames.
>>97069048not that anon, but disintegrators? those things kill your squad at a rate only slightly lower then the opposing squad, if they are in power armour. In terminator armour, when they actualy can save vs desintegrators the shoting squads don't really do much. And they cost a lot of points, you can buy a unit of HSS with auto canons and get a better kill rate vs terminators. And if you made plasma work somehow, then I envy you. All I know from the few games I had is that, basic support squads with plasma and combi plasma are very expensive and very random, and interemptors are that, but more expensive, shorter range and at some point I thought I would like to just run them with bolters and phosphex, but A they don't have such an option and B for some reason GW decided that an interemptor with 5A should drop to 1A and still cost a lot of points somehow.
>>97069079There exist more disintegrator weapons than disingegrator rifles. And shooting at terminators with disintegrator rifles is the dumbest thing you could do, that's like trying to kill AV 14 with autocannons. Each weapon has a distinct niche this edition, there aren't many weapons that are oppressively anti-everything like in previous editions.Combi-plasma is probably the only genuinely bad plasma weapon. Plasma gun tss is very cheap, and has very competitive damage output against a wide range of targets. A lot of bigger plasma weapons are still blasts, and now have damage 2 - meaning where they only did 1 wound to 2 wound terminators in previous editions, they now outright kill them. But if you genuinely can't figure out how to use DA interemptors it's a disgusting unit then trying to explain to you what makes most plasma weapons good is probably a waste of time.
>>97069048>Those terminators might was well be dead with how much they'll spend the game running away.I don't want terminators to "effectively being dead". I want them dead. Why is it bad to have things die when shot by the right gun?>Muh poisonIt's not the poison, it's the T5 making them resistant to literally every other gun ever. Disintegrators wounding terminators on a fucking 5+? And then needing to roll a 1 for that wound to go through? It's literally twice as easy to kill yourself (1/12) than to kill a terminator (1/27).But sure pal. The numbers are false, and disintegrators and plasma are fine because Phosphex happens to scare people away. Plasma is NOT for killing MEQ. It should be for killing TEQ. It sucks at that now, and it shouldn't.
>>97069111If you made it clear you are specifically talking about disintegrator rifles and plasma guns, you might have had a point. But making sweeping statements about a weapon class which are patently untrue makes you look like a whiny little retard.
>>97069109But all the plasma with templates is mounted on tanks, even heavy plasma on HSS only have small templates. But then again I don't need tech for all plasma weapons of all space marines. I just want to know how to use a single unit, that cost me over 200$ with import tax. Because I have not yet seen it reach flamer range in 3.0. And they no longer have land raiders as a transport option build in.
>>97069117what other options are there for space marine armies. Combi plasma are shit. Heavy plasma cost too much and still do little damage to terminators, unless someone clumps up a unit of 10 for some reason.
>Anons still jumping through hoops trying to make disintegrators and plasma workMust suck, I assume
>>97069125Fucking hell, people really can't figure out anything themselves any more these days huh.Putting interemptors in a land raider is retarded, they have never been a decent melee unit and it's just way too many points. Now that units can disembark after a transport moved at full speed, a Rhino is more than enough. 12'" movement of the Rhino, 7" plus roughly 1" due to base size you did properly read the disembarking rules, right? and roughly 6" for optimal flamer distance is a 26" threat range. Hide the rhino behind terrain or a bigger tank turn 1, then 1st turn move forward and melt the closest infantry unit. If that threat range isn't enough, just take a drop pod. Intercept happens before a unit disembarks, so at worst the drop pod dies but the interemptors can't take any damage before they get to shoot. Deep strike has no scatter too, so they can land anywhere you need with pin point accuracy. I mean come on, just look at the fucking unit options anon, it is not that hard. I seriously hope you haven't been trying to foot slog interemptors into flamer range, nobody can be that retarded.
>>97069148>Putting a castraferrum with two gravis plasma cannons in your list and watching it rape any and all types of infantry is "jumping through hoops" nowLmao.
>>97069132>what other options are there for space marine armiesOh so you actually have not read any of the rule. Top kek.
>>97069079Any kind of breaching or high-powered flamer unit is very good this edition, the Interemptors can absolutely rinse stuff.Best used either in a nice durable transport or deep striking with a Warmonger - since templates autohit they don't care if they're suppressed on the deep strike, and since your opponent can't movement react away from the Deep Strike you can line up a really good template shot and annihilate almost any infantry unit with massed plasma flamer hits. In a transport they're more vulnerable, but you can fling them a long way forward before disembarking to shoot as long as you can ensure your opponent can't fully reposition away from the disembark.A good trick when running squads of killy, fragile models in transports is to disembark them next to the door and then movement react them back into their box when the enemy tries to close with them. Bonus points if you can LOS-block the enemy shooty units behind the rhino while you're doing it, or force hard choices where the enemy can't move one of their important units near where it needs to go without giving your kill squad the chance to hop back into a vehicle before they have a chance to fire at them.>>97069171Interemptors are expensive enough that I could see a squad in an Land Raider Explorator getting some work done by using movement react to stay behind AV14 as much as possible. If they were durable like Pyroclasts or cheap like alchem-flamer DG TSS I'd say just use a rhino, but there is some merit to giving the squishy plasma flamer guys a really tanky box to hide in.I've steadily been uprating elite flamer units the more games I've seen - Phraetus do nearly as much damage with the deepstriking AP3 flamers as they do with their fists, DG TSS are terrors for how much they cost and Pyroclasts are extremely versatile.
>>97069171how do you get the rhino alive through the wall of tarantulas? Do you guys play with secret transport content? Thank you for the advice by the way. I hope someon will allow me to proxy a drop pod.
>>97069179It literally is jumping through hoops. Use the supercharged profile, rely on Breaching and 2D to do... 20% more damage than you would if it was AP2 D1? Aight. Jumping through hoops does work - doesn't make it not jumping through hoops.>Safe profile good at killing SA hordes>Supercharged profile good at killing VEQ & TEQSo what is it, plasma is bad because it was good vs everything, or plasma is good because it's good vs everything? Make it AP2 and it still wouldn't do much against vehicles...except Gravis Plasma is S8 D2 if it doesn't move, the same as krak missiles.Plasma lost AP2 for this? Yikes
>>97069268right now where I play the problem with transports and deep striking is that most of the armies spam tarantuals and spread squads to not leave space for a drop pod or transport to go down. Land raiders die to mass shoting in their movment phase and then what was inside gets hit by multiple quad launcher firing phosphex carnisters. But again I don't claim being a good player, am not not even a regular player. I am just a noob. And maybe in a world where people land in places with thunder hawks or similar stuff it is different. Here most armies are infantry, more infantry and even more infantry. And the rest is rapiers and tarantulas, mostly because the recasters around here are producing them en mass and those that get damaged or get returned we get to buy for cheaper.
>>97069278I am not sure if this is the case all around the world. but my community which is or was around 40 people had exactly 4 non marine players. and two of those were a custodes players and a custodes player, who happend to have converted a lot of SoS using SoB models. The other 2 dudes had a mechanicus armies, which were mostly w40k armies. "good vs humans" is a bit like "powerful vs bike mounted armies".
>>97069278NTA, but the idea that for something to be 'good' means it must defeat all defenses brainlessly is tournyfaggotry. You are talking about a d6 wargame. Weight of fire > all other choices, because there isn't enough granularity in the math for anything else to matter.
I know it's bad form to bitch about a dead game like Titanicus but it was really retarded to give all Knights the Agile rule, making them completely ignore terrain. including, and I quote >large areas of rubble or debris, ruined buildings, areas of forest>Roaring rivers, pools of magma or fields of thermal mineswhy can a knight safely walk through magma that a titan can't? It also is just another aspect of Knights ignoring vast chunks of the game like reactor management, facing, turns, etc. they've always been essentially cruise missiles or suicide bombers in AT18

>>97069376Don't forget acastus being the strongest and most effective unit in the game!
>>97069386and because of the terminal system they can't change the stats of units so they had to double it's cost and make it basically 1 unit per army

Gentelemanly conduct my ass? you mean going to whore houses, spending money on gambling and ordering the shoting of working class members of the society?Fuck off. 1st ed rule set was crazy, because it more or less boiled down to playing 2-3 legions/armies, and spaming phosphex which ment more or less , get first turn=win. 2ed had its huge, some of them them serious, but at least the numbers of ways to play was bigger and the army builds were different.

>>97069491Go read Automated Fire Advanced Reaction again. Particularly pay attention to process 2.
>>97069290Dear lord, how many rapiers are they running to pop Land Raiders and still have a huge pile of phosphex left? That seems generally difficult, especially if your raider pops smoke. Both rapiers and tarantulas are extremely squishy, so at the very least it should be possible to clear enough space to drop a squad of interemptors in with a Warmonger rather than bothering with a transport, since deep strike, unlike disembark, is not a move and does not trigger Reposition or Automated Fire. Killing waves of infantry is not that difficult with a lot of units, although sadly my preferred tactic of 27 S6 W3 Ursarax kind of falters in the face of mass phosphex and D3 laser destroyers so you need to clear the rapiers out first.Tarantula spam for move-blocking is kind of cheesy but it really does depend how many of them there are and whether you allow them all to react on the same target at once, which IMO they cannot.
>>97069704>Trigger: The Reactive Player may declare theAutomated Fire Advanced Reaction in Step 2 of theMove Sub-Phase process if an enemy Unit ends a move within 48" of a Unit under the React ive Player's Controlthat only includes Models with the Automated Fire Protocols Special Rule.So my opponent tanks move. My time to react with a unit twith Fire protocol Special rule. I start the mini shoting phase. The shoting ends, if the vehicle is still on the board my reaction window is still open, so if another model with Fire Protocol is in LoS and in range, I can react again. And I can do so till the vehicle gets destroyed or I decide I don't want to react no more. All Polish events play it that way.
>>97069789Right. You're illiterate. Why didn't you open with that.
>>9706977810 twin lascanon ones cost only 650pts and you are infiltrating them, so you block out all objectives outside of your deployment zone. Even if they do not destroy the raider, each one of them is a separate vehicle, which you have to target separatly, have to destroy in melee, you can't just phase through them. having 10 of those and 8-12 quad launchers then some tacticals for scoring, often AL inducti that are weaker in Line stat then tacticals, but don't get blown off the table turn 1. Not sure what an Ursarax is. If it is a mechanicus or Solar vehicle, then I must say we have zero expiriance with those here, as neither of those armies are popular or in fact played at all.
>>97069431Zoomer gonks in this thread will likely disagree, but what you say is so true.No one spammed AP2/3 pieplates in my meta. We played with fully painted armies, using 1.0 as a framework for diorama-like matches throughout the year, followed by a big 5 vs. 5 player team brawl at the end of the year.We played with and among friends and took care that the player we played against had fun as well.It was fucking glorious for a decade.
>>97069809That sounds like a real pain to deal with, but also incredibly rigid, since basically nothing in the army other than the Inductii can move and even the lascannon batteries only have 2 shots on each unit that moves, so an AV14 vehicle can basically cruise around with impunity and even AV13 is probably fine. This is only scary outside being annoying blockers if you rule that they can all react-fire on a single unit simultaneously, which is a terrible reading of that reaction and you should just not play it that way, although they are very annoying blockers so it probably pays to find a unit that can efficiently clear them out. Deep striking shooty squads or air support flyers should trade for at least one unit of quadmortars each, that's only 3 3+ W2 models, and rapiers hate to take fire from enemy barrage weapons because all the hits on the crewmen get assigned to the mortars and blow them up.Have people started equipping their generic squads and vehicles to kill tarantulas easily yet? Any marine squad with krak grenades rinses one in melee, so you just want as many convenient sources of D2 mid-high strength shooting everywhere as possible. Multimelta rhinos, combimelta sarges, sponsons on tanks, etc. Also your own Infiltrators, which you can string out to deny the enemy tarantulas the ability to form a nice wall if you deploy first. An Ursarax is a Mechanicum jump pack cyborg with lightning claws, very efficient for infantry mass murder but they hate phosphex.Having only marine infantry armies probably doesn't help here - Solar Auxilia or Militia can deploy tons of cheap and effective tanks and artillery pieces to counterbattery the phosphex and roll through the tarantulas, Daemons are all malefic so they can casually shrug off Panic (3) and aren't that susceptible to lascannon.

>>97067434the MODOK pattern dreadnought ?
>>97069809Have you considered just dropping a Brass Scorpion on the table? 600pts, can move through tarantulas, takes maybe a third of its health in damage from 20 lascannon firing at it, can be easily repaired by any nearby Battlesmith model and is effectively immune to phosphex. It can't split fire, but it will happily eat its way up the board and ignore anything the composition you described tries to do in return while your basic squads clear out the paper tarantulas. Basic barrage artillery can effectively autokill any tarantulas they hit with S10 D2 large blasts, so if you really want to optimise for clearing this out you can ally 4 Militia heavy ordnance teams and a cheap commissar for 390pts. They sit in the back miles out of range of phosphex and drop S8-10 D2-3 large blasts on tarantulas or quad mortars. The S8 ones are slightly less reliable kills on tarantulas but more accurate for smashing quads.

>>97071111A 50% chance of ruining their entire game plan just for taking a squad of infiltrators you can get use out of anyway isn't bad, I would try to have one in your list just in case.As for barrage, yeah, any kind of high strength template does a number on tarantulas (because it oneshots them with no saves) and quad mortars (because it hits all the crew, then stacks all those saves on the guns themselves and destroys them). Conversion beamer predators and Inversion Beamer sat dreads can do something similar, but the pile of 85pt militia ordnance teams are a very efficient way to do it and Barrage is nice for hitting sneaky quad mortars out of line of sight.

Plasma got nerfed with the introduction of 2.0 when disintegrator weapons were almost non-existent, heck there weren't even official bits for them.>B-but plasma went from breaching 5+ to 4+ in 3.0!ALL ranged weapons got nerfed in 3.0. Except for a few weapons that were complete trash in the previous edition. Or are you seriously brain damaged enough to believe that all ranged weapons got nerfed just to make disintegrator weapons more appealing?
>>97073523They're just so underwhelming for the points. Slightly worse bolter stats for plus 1 dice and a status that's not that's pretty mid.>>97073555Not a bad point, but counter point: You should be able to do more customizing with tacticals and despoilers for your legion. Inductii having the flavor instead is pretty lame.
>>97073863>Well, you're fucking stupid for thinking disintegrator weapons being introduced has anything to do with the current state of plasma weapons.nigger it 100% does though lol. There was litearlly no reason to nerf plasma to breaching 5+ they did they becuase if it was 4+ for the point cost no one would have taken D guns.Other weapons changed because they changed rules around them, but Plasma guns straight up got a nerf. Plasma in lore should if over charged be able to consistently punch into SV3 and a chance to wound SV 2.
>>97073863>all ranged weapons got nerfed just to make disintegrator weapons more appealing?this is probably true knowing James since now you would presumably need new models with the new weapons
>>97073887Hard disagree. Tacticals and despoilers are the most vanilla units a legion can have, not to mention that the legions were more homogenised during the HH. Some legions even shared recruitment centres. This isn't 40k, where every single unit needs to be a special snowflake.
>>97073898It kinda is, the one that took the brunt of the hit was plasma weapons for no real reason. There was nothing wrong with the Breaching 4+ plasma gun it worked fine, since no one was out there spamming mass fucking plasma squads in 2.0. played for a full 3 years and i dont think i ever once saw a TSS plasma squad, plasma canon, or even any thing plasma. It was not that strong, they just gimped it to try and prop up D guns. which fucking blow anyways lol.

>>97073887>Slightly worse bolter stats for plus 1 diceYou dont take them for the damage (didnt do it last ed either), its for that status check. Its a 5pts weapon you can sprinkle around to just force more checks, and those checks are just a good thing to have. Denies scoring, gives +1WS in melee, just generally good shit.

>>97073992>bolt pistols should be critical hits (2+) all the time

>>97074276There should be no such thing as critical hits :).

>>97069376>>97069386They were always meant to be support units to push titans out of positions under the ignorant assumption of the designer that Questoris is the only knight in the game and they will never be a separate army.Even the Questoris had to be shafted with the Avenger Gatling being weaker than vulcan even though they're the same caliber. And the Gatling was given 20" range for some reason, even though the actual range should have been 12".
Is the quad battery good? For 125 points it's a lot of shots. It's not very tough but with 5HP and a 5++ it could probably take a bit more than you expect it to. I want to do the Master of Signals tower defense because it would be funny but I also want it to work out.

Had a super fun game, DA vs NL. 2:1 for NL. Even if here lots of mud was thrown on 2.0 I find it rrally fun and decently balanced. At least the factions that we are playing: NL, DA, AL, UM, IW.
>>97075185B@C was better. BoP included cuckstodes and SoS that most people didn't want.
The absoulte star was the raptor sergeant that made the most NL move there is, he ran away and hide.
But the sicaran would not leave him be.... Haha. In the end the Raptors survived, but was pinned and couldn't take the objective. There was lots of lols
Last photo, the LR was running away from the Dread the whole game, in the last turn the marines charged him.
>>97075201I agree completely but I like the plastic mkIII so much with the plastic thunderhammers. You could sell off the goldens and sisters.

Plus DA aren't popular/ordered here often. in 2ed only the Cenobiums were sold in my area. And I got them 15 with swords and 15 with hammers.
>>97075409>whole unit>4 batches of 5>During 2.0 max interemptor squad size was 15>It is 10 nowThe sheer level of polish retardation never ceases to surprise me. Because this sounds like homeless levels of poverty.
>>97075440yes I had to buy 20, because the pack came with 1 heavy dude each 5, which I only noticed after buying the initial 5. So in order to have 15, and not 12 I had to buy 4 packs of 5. >How poor are you exactly? Because this sounds like homeless levels of poverty.I make 620$ a month. but rent, food and costs of living leave me , assuming no extra spending is needed on medication/shoes/clothes/etc around 10-15$ hobby budget per month. Which isn't a problem when a tac marine costs around 30 cents and a cenobium is around 1$. But again, no recatster around me sold interemptors. One I almost bought primaris interceptors and the guy got angry, because I didn't want to pay for 20 models I would not use in HH. I guess at the time plasma armd interceptors were a thing used by marine players in w40k.
>>97075452But the interemptor kit comes with the parts to build 5 regular interemptors, the one heavy weapon is optional. Not that you would want to pass up on the heavy plasma flamer variant, because it was and still is superior to the regular variants. This only keeps getting worse.
>>97075460my first didn't they did come with melee option for the sgt. Which I found wierd. which is better then a friend of my who ordered slayer. got another SW kit. asked them why they did it. they sent him the wrong kit again. And when he asked them why they sent the wrong kit again, they said that the parts he ordered were no longer sold.
>>97073262Speaking from experience, mortars are just filler. Autocannons are king. Consider them on sentinels or weapon teams.
>>97068388>pedo artist
>>97074260literally not true. Plasma is currently entirely useless outside the gimmick cases which don't use normal plasma rules (such as corvid making it AP2 constantly). Breaching6+ is trash and needing to overload to only breaching5+ to even scratch a basic tactical marine is nowhere near good enough, it means the extra 1-in-6 breaching chance gets matched by 1-in-6 chance to overload and shoot your own squad with breaching5+.It suffers the same problem as disintegrators - with the massive self-damage paired with a high points cost making them less combat effective than a squad of basic tactical bolters which will literally outshoot them due to having twice the wounds and 60 shots per turn.Kraken bolters have breaching4+ (3x more efficient than plasma) with zero self-damage and 30" range instead of 24". It's not even close between the two.
>>97075667>More expensive option is betterYou don't say.
>>97075701wait. kraken bolters are more expensive then plasma guns/combi plasma? I did not know that.
>>97075218anon these are lovely, well done getitng in games
>>9707575410 seekers certainly are more expensive than a 10 man tactical support squad with plasma guns. And nobody is disagreeing that combi-plasmas are useless.Plasma also out-performs kraken bolters against a wide range of targets that aren't toughness 4 or lower infantry. Even against terminators, which are toughness 5 now, overcharged plasma has the same chance of a breaching hit as kraken bolters breaching 4+ doesn't help when you only wound on a 5+ but also does a bunch of regular wounds in addition to the breaching hits.

>>97075855Because he’s just as incompetent as the rest of the EC because GW has a hate boner for them. Just this edition they wrote that the EC lost half the legion at the Dropsite Massacre.
>>97076071You say "legal according to what?" and have them point to the rule they are talking about.
>>97076254In that I can't play them as Dark Angels, and should use the Shattered Legions rules, because they don't have the decals/sculpted regalia.
>>97076216>Just this editionBruh that was in Betrayal, it's old news.
>>97076288That was just the loyalist purging in betrayal, the new lore is they also lost 50k during the massacre.
>>97076288Well they were called "emperors children" for a reason. And not everyone was a self centered cunt like Lucius or Fabio. And even those that were that, were so keen of throwing it in with the horus side. They litteraly went through 2 purges, then through a "we totaly suck Slanesh X" purge, followed by legion war and breaking up in a civil war again. The dude practicaly exist to kill each other, because , especialy post slanesh, each one of them thinks that they are the perfection and how all EC should be. and what is worse. If you clone them, they still thing that the clones aren't up to pair, because they don't have the same set of expiriance. They are more mental then the NL.
>>97076309I don't know why you got the idea that this is new. The 50k ballpark figure was presented in Betrayal.
>>97076322He's talking about the losses incurred on Isstvan V, not Isstvan III. There's an info box in the new journal. The guesstimate for their losses at Isstvan V is also in the 50,000 range.
>>97076322Because that’s Istvaan III not V, they have 50k listed again for V, which means they put the wrong number in the book, or the EC lost 100k Marines across both planets.

>>97076350We kind of a only have 4 players right now, and after some games where I just get tabled, I am not very interested in playing two of the four guys and the last guy plays DA just like me. It is their store, so their rules apply.
>>97076366Marsians have an unhealthy fascination with horses and horse like things.

>>97076391But he's from Cyclothrathe, not Mars.
>>97076392>a primarch thunder hammerThe actual visual is even better. Ferrus only brought the Fireblade to Isstvan V and didn't draw it until he was right before Fulgrim. Prior to their duel, from the moment he made planetfall, Ferrus was literally punching purple legionaries to death.
>>97076392Agreed. I legitimately think that GW is intending for the EC to lose 90-100k Marines over both battles. Because the other option is they took nearly 0 losses at Istvaan 5 despite being the main focus of a Primarch and 10,000 Terminators and Veterans.
>>97076420That assumes exactly 50,000 remained loyal.
>>97076443It assumes roughly 50,000k losses at III like Betrayal says.
>>97076420It's mentioned at some point in Massacre that the Iron Hands were managing a 1:1 kill/death ratio before the trap was sprung and they were boxed in. It's a truism of warfare that the defender is advantaged in this respect. That the Iron Hands managed this anyway should baffle people.

>>97079024Reapers only have 1 plastic and 1 resin pose but blasters can be put on multiple arms and a squad with double barreled plasma shotgums is cooler
>>97079024Nah reaper autocannon siege tartaros are too many points for the damage they do. Especially because the Heavy (FP) keeps baiting retards into keeping them stationary for the extra shots, might as well have taken a HSS at that point.
>>97079312>might as well have taken a HSS at that point.I suspect they are indeed a HSS not unlike Veteran HSS are. They just happen to be a sort of Zones Mortalis HSS, so they are fully expected to survive melee on their own unlike HSS, who ideally would have a squad nearby to serve as a barrier between them and the enemy? Assault HSS gooo!
>>97079110>With reaping blow activeThat's a big if for a unit with Bulky 2, anon. 5 of them already don't outnumber a Tactical squad. Then again, Deathshroud on Tacticals is massive overkill lol
>>97079415The reaping blows mostly helps against other terminators. Lose one deathshroud to the enemy character or something, and the rest start swinging power scythes at 5 attacks per model. When playing against DG I make sure not to shoot their Deathshroud before my terminators charge in or charge them with multiple units. Made the mistake of letting Deathshroud get their 5 attacks each a few times, and boy does it hurt.

>>9708134512 rapiers with quad canons firing phosphex carnisters in to my 100% bike mounted force and pinning me for 3 turns. So that I did no melee with any unit and shot 2 heavy bolters in one single turn. meanwhile his units (he got first turn) sat on all objectives and was getting some crazy number of points each turn, even with VP gain degrading each turn. We did not play turn 4. Or rather I did not play my.
>>97081345Vulkan. This mf rules are simply absurd and they didn't even try to hide it. Top tier damage dealer, Good shooting, best tanking, grants better buffs than Guilliman or alpharius, and his prime are not specific troop locked.
>>97081345
>>97081345the only two things in 3rd so broken they deserve to be self-nerfed immediately are Vulkan and Corvidae 5+ rending power. They're massively overpowered and there's zero downside, army can take them and have SSS-tier offense without any drawback (so you can afford to buy S-tier defense or mobility at the same time)You can change it to rending6+ for corvid spell and remove a full point of damage from vulkan's hammer and they'd still be as strong as anything that's in the game.
>>97079415it's not in the slightest difficult to become outnumbered with bulky2. Enemy shoots them ever? Instantly all remaining deathshroud go super saiyan mode with 5 AP3 rending5+ attacks per model. Bring a 5man squad and enemy has 5 termies + 1 character to lead them? Suddenly 10 free bonus scythe attacks at initiative 3 (all swinging before thunderhammers). Enemy has any non-TH models in his unit such as claws? Will kill 1 terminator and suddenly you get +2 attacks for the whole squad when they swing. You had 10 deathshroud and enemy had 10 elite terminators? If you claim they're stronger than your termies, then round 1 he kills say 3 and you kill 2, round 2 that means you're 35 breaching5+ attacks at decent initiative which is plenty when enemy's hammers are striking last at dmg1 instead of dmg2. Also, deathshroud are brave - Ld10 C9 without needing a sarge. For comparison, just have your seekers snipe a phoenix term champ and the unit is instantly Ld8 C8 and phosphex runs them off the board at leadership 5.Deathshroud are simply well-balanced terminators with fair strengths and fair weaknesses. Retards are upset they're not an OP unit like Vulkan that auto-counters every single threat auto-winning against everything. They too stupid to realize how good EW1 is, countering hammer/fist/lascannon/autocannons - and without Red Butchers huge penalty of being WS3 on defense. You can also put a saturnine auto-duel-winner lord inside, he squishes any enemy duelists or champs and fills all the AP2 terminator-squishing the unit needs - without removing EW1 or the WS5 from the unit.
Any pics of the tarot artwork from the Scouring book?
>>97079684Those Death Guard poison flamers are absolutely mean, I have seen ten tacsups with alchem flamers melt an entire terminator squad and that isn't even too far above average, if you hit all 5 terminators with 10 templates you'll kill three or four with average rolls.

>>97082476Hammer terminators are an expensive specialty unit. They do perform slightly better at melee-only terminator killing, but at 270 points for a 5man instead of 235 points, and without assault pistol poison 2+ flamethrower templates. And squishier to term-killer squads (like a lascannon squad drops 4.2 wounds on the cata retinue but only deals 2.8 on deathshroud. Ditto results for dmg2 autocannons, catas melt faster)That points difference means being able to buy 6 deathshroud instead of 5 cata chosens, so first flamers wipe 2 cata chosen in shooting phase, volley fire then takes out 1.25 more chosen, leaving 6 scythes vs 2 hammer guys before any swinging starts - hammers have no initiative at all so the scythes strike first and wipe 1 chosen, leaving 1 single hammer guy to fight 6 deathshroud. Hammer guy deals 0.8 wounds, then next turn dies due to initiative 2, having never killed a single one of the 6 deathshroud. The meme "scythe means helpless against terminators" is just one of those things repeated by retards who cannot understand a complex thought. Scythes are REALLY amazing against 3+ armor saves, yes, that does not mean deathshroud must be the opposite and somehow helpless against 2+ armor saves. No, they're breaching5+ with tons of attacks and flamethrowers that wound terminators on 2+ and get to shoot 2x each turn, plus EW1 to shrug off hammer damage. That's a great anti-terminator package actually. Particularly with a terminator-smashing character joining them (who doesn't take away their shooting power or survivability but greatly increases the term-squishing-melee)

>>97082682yes, those aren't even the ideal situation for the deathshroud, as that's with just 3 scythe attacks each and only a small number of targets. If it was same unit of deathshroud vs a 10man of WS4 terminators, then the deathshroud get twice as many targets to flamer and 30 melee attacks instead of 18, while also WS5 vs WS4 means hitting on 3+ instead of 4+ and being hit on 5+ instead of 4+. And 300 points for 10x Cataphractii with zero hammers (which for some reason cost the same +10 pts per model on WS4 as on WS5 squads).Looking at it, it's probably not a stretch for 280 points of deathshroud to reliably beat up 20x cataphractii non-retinue terms with 3 hammer upgrades tossed in each unit (660 pts). Part of why footslogger hordes of cheap bodies doesn't actually function now. And non-retinue terminators can't even justify the cost of a landraider.6x Shrouds could get dropped to wipe rear objectives from cheap 115 dreadclaw and flamer then volley flamer. I think the reason heavy chainswords never took off is because nobody can get the arms to aline. Holy shit what a headache.
I want to see your army. Your army list to please. Being new to 3.0 is difficult.
I just woke up from a dream where I dreamt that a new 3.0 book dropped that had a bunch of alternate colour schemes for every legion. Can’t remember all the ones I “saw” in the book but the ones I do remember were>”zone mortalis schemes” which had every legion in all cold white power armour with just their helmets and power packs in their legion colour>varying camouflage schemes that made no sense whatsoever (bright red and cyan tiger stripes for WS, purple and green for SM, cold white and gold for EC)>asteroid camo which was just every legion painted normally but they had grey and black speckled legs?>alt schemes specifically for fighting on one planet I can’t remember the name of that again made no sense (all yellow armour for SoH, power armour that was all black but had rainbow coloured accents for DA, NL’s in fluorescent green and orange)Why the fuck did my brain dream of these things? Is it my body’s way of telling me to hurry up and pick which legion I wanna collect?
>>97085647>which had every legion in all cold white power armour with just their helmets and power packs in their legion colour>A bunch of legions fighting eachother in the ISS with moonsuits. Its kino im afraid
>>97085463the reason they never took off is they're gay, lame and also weak and equally ass stupid in the fluff. If you're spending on some elite upgrade when mass produced lightsaber power weapons exist, there's no reason to ever go with a dumb jumbo chainsaw. And having 60 teeth instead of 30 teeth doesn't mean it'd cut any better at all. The only thing long chainsaws are for is cutting really big trees where you need the extra deep length, which isn't a thing in 30k (he's not fighting a bio-titan with a shitty chainsword, they'd use melta/krak for that)Also, that long a chainsaw would slap an enemy powersword a single time and lose the entire track, so having extra teeth wouldn't actually make it somehow durable. Or get slammed by some hard armor and bend it anywhere (changing length), no longer spin-spin.And as picture shows, the comically large useless size means he's not holding a forcefield shield in one hand, so 100% of enemies would simply blast the dude with the dumb 2h chainsword into a pile of meat gibblets. Something like a phoenix spear at least justifies being two-handed by having twice the reach of that chainsaw while a powersword on the tip of the spear would cut through terminators from outside of thunderhammer range.Oh, and probably 70% of why they'll never take off is buying forgeworld or resin chainsaws and having to sculpt every single tooth yourself using a knife because there's resin filling between every single tooth (and you accidentally break every 4th or 5th or 6th tooth trying to cut them out) Literally nothing in resin has ever been worse than chainsaws.
>>97084318Seems bringing a Centurion is more permissive than bringing an actual Praetor
>>97085865That's because they made two handed chainsaws be mere Heavy Chainswords instead of Eviscerators like they had ALWAYS been. Eviscerators are the chainfists of the non-terminator infantry
>>97085899oh yeah, 40k eviscerators are a form of weak power sword field generator, right? Which was entirely stripped in 30k. They should be AP3 Breaching6+ Rend6+, then they'd be a little effective into terminators (still nothing like Thammer) but absolutely shred stuff like Vet Assault Squads. That'd still make them situational, just not 0% use like currently.
>>97085977*meant to type shred instead of rend. Both would be fine, but AP3-breach6-shred6 would differentiate them from lightning claws AP3-breach6-rend6.Claws of course still having more extra attacks and better initiative, eviscerator wouldn't make them pointless or redundant.
