>>97068091That excludes every good answer. Sea monster people I guess, since there's always weird underwater shit being alluded to.
>>97068091Tehenhauin and his red crested skinks getting a special army that doesn't need no saurus. And better weapon and organization options for skinks. And kroxigor. And integrating krox back into skink cohorts.
>>97068091>TQForest Goblins. Play up the shit out of the spiders, centipedes, and jungle ambush shit. Maybe stick them in south east asia. Near Vietnam. I dunno. With like, foxholes and a focus on ranged combat. Give a couple units a special kind of reserve move that lets them remove themselves from the board and then ambush next turn.Just spitballing here.
Could someone post a picture of the Wood Elf and High Elf transfer sheets with a ruler or a dime next to them so I can get a sense of the size of the transfers?
>>97068091green knight is cool but I really, Really, Really do not like Bretonia as a whole. Maybe if they could get an AOI that lets them soup with wood elves or something that isnt just more fucking humans id collect them and something else, but as it is they're cringe as fuck. All my possible reinterpretations of them are too high fantasy and are out of place for the setting too.
>>97068139>LizardmenAnon, I... Legacy won't get updates. Make the rules for the army and try it out with friends.

>>97068369I do not like the fist weapons, they look goofy as
>>97068257Explain this to me. What's so high fantasy about them? Nearly every army has knights. Does it have to do with the lady? There are multiple chaos gods that tangibly affect the world, showing favor to WoC. You can take WE as allies. You're free to your opinion, but I don't see how they don't fit. It just sounds like you don't like human factions. >>97068369Check out badger games. There's always 3d printing or converting too. >>97068091Since ToW focuses more on the east i would say nippon. It gives cathay a hostile nation and samurai and ninja look vastly different than cathay. We also know that they have ogre mercenary, so i would just say that nippon ogres have chaos corruption that gives them horns and red skin. They also have giants, which could be similar be made into a yokai or be clad in samurai armor.Either way fantasy japan should feature more monstrous yokai units to contrast against cathays human units.
>>97069075>Either way fantasy japan should feature more monstrous yokai units to contrast against cathays human unitsconquest is already doing exactly that

>>97069088The 38mm scale is still bizarre to me. Was it a miscommunication like with the Stonehenge in This is Spinal Tap?What are you working on? I've been chipping away with these barbarians, I guess they could be ran as marauders in TOW, though I'd need base adapters for that.
>>97069075>ToW focuses more on the eastI know we had Cathay but come on, it's called the OLD WORLD. But seriously I think they'd really have trouble differentiating Nippon enough for it to be interesting, it would be discount japanese myth with the more uninspired samurai stand ins just how Cathay was an extremely lazy Ming dynasty copy. If they had to do a new faction in the east they'd probably be inclined to do something cooler with Ind but they'd do the best job with Albion because they wouldn't hold back on tongue in cheek and might actually understand what makes Brythonic myth interesting.
>>97069088Yokai generally don’t work unless they’re very individually focused so wouldn’t work for a mass army game. Maybe something like mordheim/warcry/malifaux

>>97069089you are browsing an anime website champ
>>97069097>The 38mm scale is still bizarre to me. Was it a miscommunication like with the Stonehenge in This is Spinal Tap?I believe it was ultimately up to 3 reasons:the plastic moulding they use is nowhere to the level used by other competitors, so they need the minis to be bigger to hold the level of detail they want them to haveWarhammer has scale creep and the most converted models (marines and heroes) are most often way past the normal 25-28 scale, making their own models relatively usable as bits for those Most people into non-historical wargaming have a warhammer army already, so if they want their miniatures to not be ignored, in favour of people using warhammer minis as proxies with their rulebook, then the game has to be somewhat incompatibleBut I believe it's predominantly the first reason
>>97069098>it's called the OLD WORLD.Only fucking retards cannot understand that old world is the informal name for the warhammer world as a whole here, despite being technically just the name of not!europe.
>>97069120Yeah, exclusivity makes some sense. I've thought of buying some conquest models like the Varangians, or the dweghom berserkers. I think they'd be decent monstrous infantry in TOW.
>>97069119Its not a hate of anime or even weebery, its just such one dimensional wants that people have for it that is incredibly fucking dull. I genuinely hope GW never listens to their fans sometimes.
>>97069158Yeah, in the early 2010s a lot of fans were begging for them to advance the 40k timeline and oh how the monkeys paw curled.
>>97069158I'd like a Nippon that was a dark mirror of Cathay. With its own dragon emperor who has been corrupted by chaos. With plenty of nods to traditional Shinto myths. Like giving its dragon emperor eight heads, one for each wind of magic, or point on the chaos star, but also the eight heads of the Yamata no Orochi of myth. The army would of course be mostly samurai and peasants, but supplemented with daemons (in the shape of oni) as well as various yokai creatures like kappa. And things like shape-shifting kitsunes or tricksy tanukis. And throw in a bit of 1930s Imperial Japan in there, raiding the Cathayan coast to capture peasants to bring them back since their own population is stagnant at best. Yin-Yin isn't protecting her coast because the Nippon Dragon Emperor is trying to seduce her into becoming his wife so he can create true dragon offspring. She's resisting. For now.The peasants are awaiting the return of the twin-tailed comet, they believe it is the herald of the fantasy version of Susano-o who will come down from the heavens and slay the Orochi and free the land of Nippon from darkness. And this is jsut what I made up while drunk on a wednesday evening.don't judge me. it's fucking thanksgiving tomorrow.today. fuck its 230 in the morning
gentle reminder that legacy factions are never coming back
>>97069289Can they at least fix their dogshit rules even if they're not bringing back the old models?

>>97069693>>97069694I'm not saying *I* wouldn't do it, I'm saying modern GW isn't going to do it.
Seeing all the talk about resin character going the way of the dodo, cant gw simply inject plastic into the resin molds or is that not possible?
>>97069700can't you ally orcs&goblins and stock up on wolf riders? proxying them as normal chaos dudes instead of greenies?
>>97069724The production of Resin models is pretty different from how they do plastic models
>>97069700Javelins were used by some steppe raiders, Turks and Muscovites who used similar tactics, but it's not the same. I guess that new pseudo-dow army of infamy could be used to build a chaos mongol army, as their profiles are so open-ended. Of course, lack of marks and eye of the gods means that some key flavour is lacking.
>>97069724Nope, not possible. They're extremely different types of moulds.Best they can do is scan the resin model and design plastic moulds to reproduce that scan, but it's as costly as doing a new mould for a whole new design so they always prefer doing that.
>>97069745>>97069754Got it.Kinda sad that so many models are going to disappear, but i guess thats what happens with gw being cheapskates and doing finecast etc.
>>97069724Changing to new moulds would mean recasting which always causes a loss in overall scale. Adam Savage has a good TED talk from like 2008 about how he tried to sculpt a prop then recast it only to realise too late it loses up to 20% volume on recasting. Something about heat loss and thermal contraction or something.
A lot of people understandably complain but i think the physics and chemisty of casting moulds is like a sicko level above the "i kitbash existing plastic bits together" hobbyist or even the terrain building hobbyist. Like a lot of people i talked to about it dont even know about things like the heat generation from the reaction damaging the moulds and stuff. Its not super hard work but it is something that requires a lot of prep and triple checking before you do anything.Tier wise i'd say it goesGluing model parts<base coating with acrylics<Using glue specifically for chemical welding during kitbashing<drilling and pinning<airbrushing<pigments<oils<making scratch built terrain<green stuff sculpting<blue stuff recasting of tiny bits<recasting from 2 part resin of existing models<<<<<<Making your own model masters and a mould and casting them
>zero orc players at locals>12 beastmen playerswhat happened?
>>97069882My guess; Beastmen are fun to play, open to lots of customization and are fun to paint as they have a mix of skin, fur, trinkets and weapons on most of their models.
>>97069882People just love the rapist faction.
>>97069882Cheap as hell, forgiving to paint.
>>97069882I see it as a number of factors >Regular chaos is kind of muted right now, Beastmen are not>With Lizardmen, Ogres and Skaven in legends they are the go to freak pick if you dont like undead stuff>Not too much ornamentation but still quite a bit of texture variety>Has an option for every playstyle>Do not have a straight analogue in 40k or even AoS now compared to most other factions>Extremely affordable to collect, especially if you find AoS multi kit boxes on clearance.>Not a shit ton of heroes to complicate lists, you have your what two melee dudes and two caster dudes?>Consistent enemies to every good faction so narrative players always find a good excuse for a fightI feel like they are to Evil as Empire is to Good. They are just the archetypal middle of the road without leaning to any of the extremes the other factions do. One is civilisation and industry, the other is rural folk backwoods shit. Two sides of the same coin.Especially when you consider just how many Gavebeasts it implies are all specifically from the empire.
>>97069939This but also in a future edition when chaos is resurgent beastmen can also commit to one of the ruinous powers and get more units, spells and a lot of flavour for kitbashing.
Can anyone share examples of Vampire terrain / howto guides? I might like to do a vampire castle.
>>97069943I wonder if they will do another Brayherds arcane journal just for this and i assume Morghur returning as the big bad.Which question: IS there a chaos villain before archeons predecessor who can even compare to Morghur?

>>97070167>Morghur is too powerful, thats why he's never the narratives big bad, you can't fight cancerous entropy.I mean you can slay his physical form and he gets reincarnated like a century later.Morghur basically functions like a greater demon and those absolutely can be antagonist in a narrative.
>>97070045I've loved them since 6th. I didn't know the term "folk horror" back then but their whole "this is the monster from your grandmas stories, watching you from the cover of the treeline and at night drinking and dancing around raised stones carved with runes" plus the whole gavebeast idea of "the oldest family plots in the empire have a lot of 'died in childbirth' empty graves" makes for a really compelling force without the more, for lack of a less inflammatory term, more 'warcraft-ey' cultshit of mainline chaos.Which is fun dont get me wrong but theres just something about that Sixth edition army book from 2003 that hits different from the rest of chaos. Its cheap to find online so i recommend any beast enjoyer picks it up for the fluff alone.
>>97070212Yeah but that inability to only delay never truly stop is a power level comparable to the grey knights fighting the most powerful demons in 40k. This is a setting where people still uses bow and arrows. His game too stronk.

>>97070246>I wonder why tomb kings are still languishing
>>97070246They don't have aura like Beastmen do.
>>97070246They need just a small thematic boost I think. Settra is too awesome and kind of puts him out of time. He should have had the same treatment they gave Morghur actually, and just have him as a background McGuffin. Give us a new interesting character to follow like a tomb Prince that allows for a hero/villains journey. Have him do a reverse crusade against Bretonnia for example, trying to reclaim a holy canopic jar they stole.
>>97070328they look like egyptian skeletons idk what else you could want
>>97070502better skeletonsthey were already outdated when they were recycled from vampire counts in 6edthey were made to look even more outdated when vampire counts got their new skeletons in 7ed and when the tomb kings got plastic tomb guards in 8edand they stay ridiculously outdated 14 years after that 8ed armybookthey're half of the reasons why the faction repeatedly failed to pick up steam in the 22 years of the army's standalone existence

>>97070226This is a setting where those same bows and arrows are effective against the same GDs the Imperium needs to bust the Grey Knights out to deal with. Morghur isn't too strong, you just don't seem to realize how pathetically weak everyone in the 40k universe is compared to WFB gigachads. A regiment of 40 halberdiers can probably cut through a SM first company.
>>97070398They should have had some bandit prince like a not-aladdin type who has rounded up his own army that decided "well fuck settra there new lands for the taking, off the frog town lads". Someone still undead but with a youthful impulsiveness that makes his victories seem like hes blessed by Ra or something.
>>97070336All those Ungor in front row seats? Who are these nodimes combatants?
>>97070615IGNORE EMPIRE SOLDIERSBLOCK EMPIRE SOLDIERSDO NOT REPLY TO EMPIRE SOLDIERSI'm not falling for your recruitment pitch Hans!
>>97070564Somewhat, it's that vampire counts overshadowed them in rules and support all the time, a similar reason why beastmen were always an underdog.Keeping beastmen in a unified chaos book, or tomb kings in a unified undead book wouldn't necessarily solve their issues, they would just be misbegotten choices in bloated armies that don't really fit the looks of the stuff people get that army for (heavy armors and gothic horror).Keeping the options open for the two to be part of the same army on the table is good, but they also very much need their rules to be able to stand on their own.
>>97070217I don't play beasts but collected a lot of fantasy stuff when it was getting killed off a decade ago, that book is probably one of if not my favorites.
>>97070798Fluff wise i think its the best of the 2000's army books, but to be fair a lot by that point were "its high elves, you know whats up, heres the stat blocks" but as it was their first stand alone book they could go hog wild like they did with the first flesh eater courts or genestealer cult books.
>>97069882People dont want to play something as braindead OP as ong I guess?
>>97069953>IS there a chaos villain before archeons predecessor who can even compare to Morghur? In what sense? In terms of "threat posed"? Yea, loads of them, Morghur didnt accomplish very much or threaten to accomplish very much, hes a regional pest for the wood elves to kill every now and then. In terms of "how they function"? Yea, basically every demon comes back after being killed whackamole style. In terms of "what they represent"? On that one, not really, Morghuts thing is that hes a questionably sentient manifestation of "raw chaos", while all the other chaos dudes are "people", invidiuals who have personal agendas as opposed to "worlds most powerful chaos spawn"

>>97071673>"this is what the proper atmosphere/vibe isabstraction does not mesh well with warhammer and you know that.
>>97069694you can’t be talking like that white baby
>>97071682Abstraction is all you actually have anon. Here are your official maps. >>97071597>>97071644Do they look very detailed? Do they look like they provide a lot of useful information? No? You can either take the rough draft provided on those maps (neither of which are actually very interesting imo) or you can find something with the proper atmosphere and aesthetic and let it influence and inspire you as necessary. You will get more workable material watching the hobbit movies, or looking at evocative art, or running around orzimar than you will poring over rpg maps. Because even if those things are not "actually warhammer", and will therefore not be entirely accurate, they set the proper mood and create the proper emotions.
>>97071673Warhammer Fantasy dwarves don't lack for Art so I'm not sure why you think you need to go elsewhere for inspiration.Novigrad also wouldn't work for a lot of Empire cities, places like Middenheim or Talabheim would feel pretty different from the busy port city
Im now reminded that the witcher was a cooler setting than any of warhammers stuff. I wish the dwarves, or the non humans in general, were as cool in warhammer as they are in witcher
Trying to improve my greenstuffing skills. Gonna smooth out some surfaces when its hardened.
>>97071720Some parts sure, but I imagine an alley is an alley and a pub is a pub. The point isnt in the specifics, but in the feeling of "this is what that life is like" which you can then work backwards from.
>>97071737Didn't the writer of Wticher write the Polish version of the WFRP ruleset?
>>97071497WFB is functionally a daemon world by 40kek standards, the daemons are actually stronger there because there's much more ambient magic to sustain them. Plus the idea of something like a shitty bret serf being able flex on muhreenz is too hilarious to ignore.
>>97071715If Anon wants very detailed maps of the Dwarf Hold for adventuring, he should probably read Karak Azgal then, since that has abstract and hyper-detailed maps in it
>>97071738Looks good, anon.
>>97071775ty!
>>97069882OnG are kind of boring at this point, the AJ is nearly 2 years old and the AoIs are very marmite, either you're really interested in them or you're not bothered at all. Despite the large roster I can see people just getting bored of them. I am.
Speaking of WFRP, are the WHFB codices (especially the ones from 6th and 7th edition) a good source of lore for playing the ttrpg?
>>97071715Not that anon, but vibes based world building by looking at pretty pictures is how you end up with nothing of real substance. A Shrine World or a Forge World in 40k aren’t important to the setting because their structures would make a good desktop wall paper, so for a Mountain Hold to mean anything to the setting, it must be full of things that matter to Dwarves.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1sGoiy0yqA Painting guides are starting to pop up
>>97071863depends on the army book
>>97071872And I think you will have a better time writing a hold that feels meaningful and contains things that matter to dwarfs if you focus on trying to write something that captures the feeling of "what a dwarf hold should be" rather than just looking over a checklist of "things a dwarf hold has"Im not advocating for leaving it at pretty pictures, im saying those pretty pictures provide the right mindset and spirit to actually write the deeper lore you want. While the dry - honestly not super detailed - detailed lore of those maps above just doesn't do much of anything. I think adherence to lore factoids and "maps" is how you get stale, shallow and ultimately meaningless writing, vibes, tone and "living inspiration" is how you get to writing something more fleshed out.
>>97071917To sort of illustrate my point: lets say you were told to write about the random things in Naggaroth outside the cities. Which do you think would be more valuable to you, the 8e map littered with names like "altar of Xzargoth" and "the pit of endless torment" or some "vibes based" inspiration like a conan story where he goes into the distant north or reading about american frontier settlements? I think it would be the latter.
>>97071872>it must be full of things that matter to Dwarves.but if you standardised the structure of a mountain hold you'd end with a less varied and interesting world.Dwarfs have traditions, but they are also artisans with a deeply personal creative sense.
>>97071926It's probably better to read Malus Darkblade's book since that's the closest we have to a book that focuses on Civilian Dark Elf life. And if we had to ignore all Warhammer source series like Elric would probably be more useful than looking up historical sourcesAnd if we had to use historical sources, then looking up the Antebellum South and seeing how plantations were organised is probably going to be more useful than looking up how Wild West towns were structured
>>97071965>It's probably better to read Malus Darkblade's bookNot if you want to get even remotely accurate information, the books are entertaining but may as well be set in the Bloodbowl universe for everything they got wrong.
>>97071965>And if we had to use historical sources, then looking up the Antebellum South and seeing how plantations were organised is probably going to be more useful than looking up how Wild West towns were structuredThat would depend entirely on the settlement youre on about I think. An established industrial setup? Sure, but for the frontier? the people living on the edge of civilization? I think american frontiersmen have more relevant information for how caethil bumfuck the trapper living in the frozen snows lives But sure, you might have countless better sources than conan. The point is still that those sources, whatever they might be - elric, some vidya, movies, whatever - are better than a big map of names and places, because that sort of trivia is actually rather "shallow">>97071993"outdated" more than "wrong" a lot of the time. But it also doesent really matter, the specifics, stuff like "dark elves worship the dark mother (whoever that is)" or "malekith has a secret police of people with demons bound to them(?)" or "shade clans have tatoo magic that lets them do anime spinkicks" or "cold ones are multi-tonne behemoths that can smash through a phalanx like its literally not there and eat entire warbands of beastmen" matter less than the vibes and what that tells you about the place The Malus books are very good at making Naggaroth feel "proper", which is the most important thing.
>>97071965Always wished western Naggaroth had more stuff going on. You already got whole clans of elves populating the forests and mountains between the megacities, as well as the plantations down south, so why not have stuff there?Specially when it's a vital part of the naval routes connecting to the underworld sea. Hell, you'd assume more than a few druchii would see the appeal of living where Malekith breathing down your neck isn't felt as strongly.Alternatively, more underworld sea stuff would be nice. That area is undeniably relevant to the society.
>>97071917I think you’re overlooking steps of world building here, or at the very least underselling the value of using a map as a reference point. If you were planning out the construction of a mountain hold, the forges should probably be higher than the other structures cause smoke and fumes rise up with the heat. But if the structure was placed lower in the hold for whatever reason, perhaps the risk of a structural collapse would too much of a risk to take, then you must imagine ventilation systems of some kind for the space to be functional. Lore “factoids” and map locations carry implications of how the world works, and serve as a foundation to build off of.
>>97070502Better quality, genius. Compare them to tomb guard. One kit looks like skeletons dressed up like Egyptians and the other looks like dollar store Halloween decorations dressed up like Egyptians.
>>97072130I think the Egyptian aesthetic is just what’s holding tomb kings down.
>>97072109Would you be able to identify this logic in the map in >>97071597? Because I dont think so.Yes, ideally all these things are considered and thought out, and a good map COULD do that. But I dont see it here.
>>97068091Cult of the Yellow Fang to get Skaven back, leading a mostly human cult army
>>97072133I think the bigger issue is that they don't do much with it. Like the Necrolith bone dragon would have been amazing.... if they just fully committed to it be a crocodile instead of a dragon. Going a bit deeper into Egyptian mythology would have been nice, the trick at this point is doing that without making it look like the models should be in AoS. Khemric Titan should be pretty easy for this but the Heirotitan would need a bit of re-write because laser eyes is dumb in ToW. More lore in general would also be nice.
>>97071899Care to elaborate?
Mods are asleep, post maps.
>>97072025>"outdated" more than "wrong" a lot of the time. No, it's wrong, like the author said yes Malus is wielding the Sword of Khaine the one at the Shrine of Khaine is fake. Or Malus appointing the new head of the Cult of Khaine because Hellebron doesn't exist in the books, or that elves have facial hair. Morathi getting outclassed in magic by Malus' sister. How about claiming Aenarion betrayed the dark elves? Which not only didn't exist until after his death but is completely ridiculous given Malekith's entire thing is that he is Aenarion's true heir. It's an entertaining read but it's basically a reskinned forgotten realms novel that barely even tries to get the setting right.
>>97072203idk. Ill be honest I just dont care for what Khemri or the preists of Nehekara are doing. This "neutral" undead thing they have design wise is just fucking boring. Id fucking eat up a Arkhan army where everything is just fucked up and evil. Idk what the tomb king cult that worshipped Nagash or sucked his dick or whatever were called, but tow should explore that instead of trying to make something that hasnt worked, work.
>>97072243Shit opinion. Go play your generic trash vampires.
>>97072243I'd say part of why it doesn't work is the lack of vampire counts, neutral undead is pretty meh when without evil (and going full good is meh) i agree but that just means we need a comparison not that it can't work. Would also be nice to see the map extended a bit, as it stands the TK are on the far edge of the map which doesn't really leave much for them to fight since Orcs like fighting everyone else more...... pity they won't give us Araby as subjects of the TK
>>97072143Not that anon, and I have no intention of making an in-depth analysis nor do I think I'm capable of one, but in broad strokes things seem sensible enough? That anon mentioned places that emit fumes should be placed higher or closer to the edge, and that seems to be the case, even with chimneys drawn (brewery, engineer place, the inn/kitchen, the only place that seems to fail this is the smithy). Then there seems to be a broad split where the upper half concentrates the civilians, shielded from below by a few levels of military, and further below are either places of worship, tombs, or mines before fading into the "wilderness" of the underdeep.I think a big issue is that this is a 2D cut of what should be a 3D environment. Dorf Fort enjoyers would have better insight.
I bought all the AJ's because i just want to have them before they go out of print and now i have to wait till the new Chaos warrior AJ is actually shipped instead of them just splitting up the order.... kinda annoying desu
>>97072143I think you’re missing the point. A map shows you where things are, within the map itself is not the explanation of why it works. Implications can simply be drawn from how things are laid out. Maps also aren’t necessarily 1 to 1 representations of how things are laid out. Any flat map of the Earth has to make compromises of how it wants to represent the planet because the planet isn’t flat, and they make those compromises with a purpose.>>97071597 I would say this map is compromising an accurate geographical lay out to show everything within the hold. I would say my point is that maps are reference points, just as valuable for world building, if not more so than looking at LotR’s concept art.
>>97072218>yes Malus is wielding the Sword of Khaine the one at the Shrine of Khaine is fakeMalus has always been wielding the warpsword of khaine, the warpsword of khaine is not "the sword of khaine" that aenarion used. Also: the sword of khaine Malus is wielding is explicitly "fake", its just a random sword Tzarkan planted as part of the prophecy he created to eventually free himself. Thats a whole thing in the books, that Malus is the unwilling pawn in the demons game all along.
>>97072458>Malus has always been wielding the warpsword of khaine, the warpsword of khaine is not "the sword of khaine" that aenarion used. The author explicitly confirmed it was meant to be Sword of Khaine whem he was asled about it years ago. The point is Malus books aren't accurate because the author knew nothing about the setting when he wrote them.
>>97072483>The author explicitly confirmed it was meant to be Sword of Khaine whem he was asled about it years ago.I dont know what interview youre talking about, but its also not in the actual books (or comics I guess) and thus irrelevant (assuming its even true, and this isnt chinese telephone of "its the real warpsword" turning into "yea its the widowmaker all along")

>>97072973>why would a Beastman be carrying around 2 naked women upside down on a single banner around the battlefield?Because theyre trophies? >>97070328>>97070502I can only speak for myself, but I would have started TK if the basic skeletons didn't look so incredibly shit. >>97073181anon just think for a second how stupid that would actually look. I can get a severed head or dismembered torso but 2 live women, one of whom is taller than the Beastman, kek. I don't they have it in them to logically think "hmmm ok I'm going to keep these 2 women captive for a while and not do any harm to them, when the time is right I will tie them both up on this stick and carry it around with me in a battle, that should spook my foes".Its stupid. >>97072861>We know GW is planning to be done with Resin by 2028Based on what?
>>97073545Yes it is. The Grand Carnifex is established as the leader of the Cult of Khaine, in Har Ganeth of all fucking places, and when he (yes, he) dies Malus appoints a random fuck witch elf as the new head of the Temples of Khaine.
>>97073582They literally go out of their way to explain that the political body Malus (and the plot of those books) deals with isnt the sum of the cult of khaine, the witch elves are an entirely different thing existing separately to/above it. In britbong terms one is the government (led by hellebron), the other is the civil service. The khainite civil service had a civil war, the government didnt care enough to bother to stop it, malus appointed someone to lead the civil service in the immediate aftermath of his being there.
>>97073623Even that doesn't make sense thoughbeit, the Grand Carnifex was a Priest, there are no male priests, same with Malus' crippled brother. It's a fun read but the fluff-wise it's a mess.

>>97074025Kek>>97073878Lmao, you're a fucking retard. This has nothing to do with the End Times, Malekith's entire pitch lorewise from the start is that he is Aenarion's son and therefore should be king. You know the whole "this is how Monarchies work" argument.

Had 10 of each of these left over from a AoS Vanguard so made a Wild Herd unit for my next narrative games. No idea if its good on a competitive level, but thats not the point for a true Beasts enjoyer is it?Thinking of maybe cutting up some cheese cloth for like hoods or wrappings like a shitty alternative to Bestigors with their metal armor but not sure if the level of latticed texture will be too big so gotta think on this one. Just want them to look more fanatic than regular rank and file Gors and Ungors. In my head this is where the true believers go because they are too gung ho for the whole "destroy civilisation" schtik the other Gors find them uncouth and, May Morghur forgive me, TOO stinky.
>>97074566>Mixed Models unit that dont even have the same weapon loadoutnani?
>>97074572Wild Herds are a special unit from 6th edition brought back in the Beastmen Arcane journal. They are a 20 block unit of 10 gors and 10 ungors that must take spears. The idea being the gors are the hammer, the ungor are the lance. One smashes into the enemy unit as a wall of shields and muscle and then the Ungors are stabbing between the Gors to go for the enemies guttyworks. The are core in a Wild Herd army of infamy and they have all the good Gor stuff like Primal Fury but for an extra 20pts the unit can have Ambushers as a extra keyword. So basically a 20 man unit that has to have fixed weapon options but an ambushing in 20 man block that shields and axes and spears that can enrage and get +1 str on charge and have a Wargor reroll their abmush? thats not a bad little unit for narrative games.Your opponent can think they have turned the tide on the vile beasts only for the beastlord to bellow and suddenly from out the treeline comes this gang of hollering berserkers right into an enemies flank in a key position where they really didn't need it. Fun stuff.

Beginner question: attaching heros to units. Does it have a points cost, can you run any heros solo and what if its a different base size? just have them stand base to base with the side of the movement tray and count it like front rank?
>>97074817>Does it have a points costNo>can you run any heros soloyes all of them as far as I remember, although some heroes will require you to take a certain unit to unlock. Ex: 1 Black orc warboss PER Black Orc unit.>just have them stand base to base with the side of the movement tray and count it like front rankYes, but you will rarely have this issue.
>>97074817In order: Apart from paying for the hero and the unit he'll be joining, no. Yes, you can run heroes on their own. Yes, a hero on a different base size can still join a unit. If the base size is simply incompatible (i.e. a 30mm hero trying to join a unit of models on 25mm bases), the hero just gets added on to the outside of the unit. If the base size is compatible (i.e. a hero on a 30x60mm base trying to join a unit of models on 30mm bases) he'll just take up some extra space in the 2nd rank. This is all explained on page 207 of the core rulebook. Pic very much rel.

>>97075434I've been playing them since the mid 90's, so both. I posted about this some number of threads ago, but it's fucking insane to be accused of powergaming for playing what was the worst army in the entire game for up until End Times. Are you retarded, dude?
>>97075472Thoughts on Highlands or other prints?
Yeah I’m thinking about just quitting the prospect of collecting a Bretonian army now. They’re too boring and I guess no matter the direction they go I probably won’t be happy with it. I wish wood elves had cool cavalry, maybe I’d go with them.
>>97075472I sperged so hard I didn't even explain my grief with the 6e infantry adequately:>they're ugly blocky manlets>they're mudcore retards with hideously ugly, poorly sculpted faces>their kit/armor was downgraded from /his/-inspired maille and gambeson to generic fantasy Ren Faire larper studded-leather-cloth-slop>they use obligate two-handed polearms like one-handed short spears instead of just fucking using one or the other like the old kits>their champions went from, like Empire champions, veterans with slightly better kits, to LOL silly jester hat xDIn summary: FUUUUUUUUUCK
>>97075497Monstrous Encounters is absolutely fucking scrumptious. Reconquer Designs is good kitbash fodder for knights on foot. Highland is pretty shit and very blocky/heroic scale looking, I like their Questing Knights on foot but that's about it.
>>97075499There is always another way...Come to Araby we have harems !
>>97074615They're also close order unlike regular Gor/Ungor blocks. Primal warherds are great
>>97075499Empire or renegade crowns?
>>97075497I've liked Highlands miniatures empire range. Monstrous encounters made great chaos warriors and knights. Warp miniatures has a great whimsical aesthetic. Bestiarum has a distinctive grotesque aesthetic, but the extended, thin limbs and other spindly bits are very prone to snapping. In general I like the 3d sculptors who try to make robust and modular gaming pieces.
Thinking of putting my Spirit Ligma lord on foot, need to get some legs for it - any suggestions of what might be a suitable set? The original legs look like they'd be too awkward to repose from the pose in the saddle, so ideally they need to come from somewhere else

How would you go about modelling a warhammer version of Götz von Berlichingen (AKA Gotz of the Iron Hand) to act as a Renegade Prince for a Renegade Crowns army?Gotz was an knight turned mercenary famed for continuing to fight after losing his hand, and replacing it with an articulatable prosthetic metal hand. I was thinking he could lead a mercenary company called 'The Ironclads' with an emphasis on heavily armoured troops - some armoured infantry with hammers or maces and shields, some crossbowmen in a mix of chainmail and plate with pavises, and some shiny mercenary cavalry with sallet helmets

>>97076682Because GW Is genuinely an incredibly successful company and - from a "big corporate" perspective is very unique in how it functions and what it does. To us its a lazy, incompetent, and greedy cancer. To the layman it looks like a raging underdog success story with a company that hasnt outsourced itself to china like everyone else.
>>97076642>I was thinking he could lead a mercenary company called 'The Ironclads' with an emphasis on heavily armoured troops - some armoured infantry with hammers or maces and shields, some crossbowmen in a mix of chainmail and plate with pavises, and some shiny mercenary cavalry with sallet helmetsIsnt that the opposite of the force he would have commanded? He was forced into leading a peasant revolt iirc. as for how I would model him? An empite dude with a mechanical-ish hand I guess? If you want it to be obvious go for some straight up cogwork/cybernetic looking thing, otherwise it would just be an armored gauntlet.

am i enough of a faggot to use Idoneth Deepkin as High Elf proxies? the deep sea aesthetic is much cooler than "my wife fucks the lion and i sit in my chair and watch" vibes of helfs.
>>97077067>am i enough of a faggotYou sound very much so
>>97077067Yes, their designs are awful.
>>97077067please do and show them here because this general would seethe about it endlessly
>>97077067I'd rather see literal aos models than that piece of shit lion kingdom, I can't even say it's name.
>Have the models in backlog sprue pile to make a 500pt high elves border patrol out of Deepkin.Dare i rustle that many jimmys?
>>97077067Which deepkin? You know their default infantry has no eyes right?
>>97077102Yeah nigga i've played them since the end of AoS 1.0 when everyone was going "lame fagget fish elves" until the abysmal, pun not intended, eel meta made all the waccfags ruin their name on the tabletop for like a year.Like you think Cathay Balloon Boys are bad? this was somehow even fucking worse. But the idea of "Teclis extracted the high elf souls from Slaaneshes guttyworks and they came out withered and raid settlements for souls to stop their kids being stillborn and this entails a magical etherial sea drowning the land like a dense fog with these eyeless elves stalking the gloom with sharks and eels and the people they drag away are forgotten by the people left behind" is one of the coolest follow ups to the End Times we ever got. Then GW cowarded out and made Lumineth which fucking suck a bag of dicks and are oddly the go to furry army in AoS.
>>97077067I dont really get the hate for the sea elves but I do actually hate the overall asthetic of high elves so who knows what im on
>>97077127>the go to furry army in AoS.that's still skaven
>>97077139Not anymore bro. Lumineth added like anthro foxes and cows and that got them to drop them for the net frotness.
>>97077133Deepkin aren't really like Sea Elves in fantasy, they are fine as their own thing though
>>97077149nobody fucking cares about the lumineth elementals but one artist for each, at bestfurries still flock to skaven at all times anyway, using idoneth as high elves is mostly a very dumb idea unless you're planning on having some conversions to add stuff to them, the models are actually closer aesthetically to dark elves, and you don't really have many units you can proxy the most accurate and linear proxy would be a flying shark for a skycutter, but you're replacing one bad idea for another, not really fixing or elevating either, like you would with, say, a sky chariot pulled by seahorses
>>97077182>nobody fucking cares about the lumineth elementals but one artist for each, at best...bro?
>>97076648No, scamming isn't considered a virtue by dwarves. Izzat is basically peak skaven style honour.

>>97077794Yeah, my LGS had a TOW escalation league recently and we got bonus points towards the league if we made some terrain and donated it to the store. Was a very successful league and was great to see people make terrain. Even if most of it was just low linear obstacles. The store at least 3d proonted trees and houses to use.

>>97076670I mean, the headline yeah, but then you read the first paragraph and he’s mentioned right there. Felix is brought up multiple times in this article. But yes, I do think they are trying to do that subtly. Luckily Gortrek in AoS shares almost nothing in common with actual Gortrek so they won’t succeed.
Fluffgrogs, please help. Are there any good resources that show how an Empire knightly order chapterhouse functions? Things like how many knights they hold, details of the non-noble guardsmen, maybe even a map? I'm hoping that one of the RPG splatbooks might look into the subject but also any novels that feature knights heavily?I'm interested in building a knight-heavy army but the AoI is so anemic that its hard to visualise.
>>97077953
>>97078129Don't know how it is in other countries but the trannies into warhammer in bongland are about as cookie cutter as it gets>Move in herds>Flannel shirts>Weezer Glasses>Tights and some kind of denim shorts>Converse Sneakers>Hair that one same style with a fringe covering one eye>All skinny lanklets>All play Necrons, Space Marine OC chapters, Skaven, Vampires/FEC or Genestealer CultsHonestly i think they see Suggs as some kind of mother hen style coach.
>>97078180There doesent seem to be any standardisation. There's knightly orders that are like a dozen dudes out there.
>>97078196Why would you not make an OC space marine chapter, it's the only way you can make your own dudes as a space marine player unless you go Black Templars.
>>97077953Don't worry. The only people who aren't at the lgs are the far right extremists. And between the two groups the trannies have slightly better hairlines due to all the hormones.

>>97078310>RATTLE ME TOOTS!Nice banner bro.
>>97078310
>>97078180Stupid of me to say since you probably already know this but a knightly order can range in size and influence from a glorified social club for the scions of rural nobility to the armed wing of a international religious movement.
>>97078310You did an excellent job, anon! Freehanding is always a lot of fun & it's not as intuitive as painting a model can be. Highlighting the inner parts of what you're painting instead of the edges, and so on. Good stuff, man. If you want different words for another banner, you could try using a micron pen.

I bought some resin prints that need cleaning and I don't really know what to do because I'm afraid of resin dust. Do you guys actually sand or scrape this stuff? I guess I can get rid of some beams with the knife but anything more than that I'm kinda iffy about
>>97078690Conventional wisdom is to never sand resin because you really don't want to inhale it. Maaaaaaaybe with a mask and a shopvac but I genuinely recommend you just don't do it. Scraping with a hobby knife, as when removing mold lines, is fine. Just wipe up the residue after, it's not breaking into small enough chunks to get aerosolized. How bad are the sculpts that need cleaning? If it's beyond "scrape this off" territory, post some pics. Maybe additive techniques can help e.g. I've used putty to fill noticeable mold lines in some of my low-res terrain prints.
Remember the golden rule
>>97078798
>>97078771I don't think they look bad since they appear to require little cleaning. They just have a few tentacles sticking out some places. Other places it looks like dust, but maybe it's just a scar from the support beam. Underneath like on the feet there's plenty of pockmarks from the supports
