I think cards at the power level of nuMagic could be perfectly fine.The problem is that the cards are badly designed, often with generic effects intended to avoid potential downsides. Delirium cards that are randomly Artifacts and Enchantments for no fucking reason is a perfect example.I think the current power level of the game is not near its theoretical maximum. But the current power level combined with how terrible the design is, causes problems.

Remember when Standard Uro decks were beating Modern Jund? The archetypical "Eternal Jund" that now doesn't even exist in Modern? And the Uro deck wasn't just winning, they were straight up shitting on the Jund deck. That year the Pro Tour top 16 had 14 Uro decks. That was 5 years ago. Those decks would have been unplayably slow a year ago when monored mice had Heartfire Hero and the Leyline and Monstrous so you get hit for 40 damage on turn 3.If all of UB were gone tomorrow, this game is still fucked, and it would take an almost impossible act of will to fix things as they are now.
