hi /tg/, I'm preparing to run a few postapoc hexcrawl sessions set in a homebrew Fallout setting, and I'm looking for cool ideas to populate the map/encounter tables; settlements, dungeons, events, special, or random encounters, anything is welcome. One sentence hooks are all I'm looking for, few examples:>tribal holy grounds built around a wind phone booth, where pilgrims come to commune with the dead and await 'the Call'>a dead man with an elephant gun on him surrounded by mutants, next to a strange giant machine that's protruding out of the ground (a reference to Franklin Payne/'Journey to the center of Arcanum')>fake shanty town built on top of a vault, where vault dwellers awkwardly play pretend to be wastelanders to hide the location of their home in plain sightSmall caveat: BoS, Enclave, NCR, and even super-mutants and deathclaws have been done to death, so outside of some sporadic appearances I'm trying to entirely avoid these
People building actual new buildings, not just nailing random trash together.

>>97073060This wasn't a problem until Bethesda. Each Fallout had regular structures, then Todd came out from the woodwork and said "Nah, from now, only trash and rusted piping is allowed for textures"
>>97073060>>97073682Ok? I have no problem with that, although if there are ready structures available, it makes sense for people to just move in, instead of wasting time building stuff. And not everyone will even have the knowledge let alone the know-how to build new structures, so stiching up shit for homes for decades and decades is really not that far fetched. I actually had an idea for a faction that goes around deconstructing old buildings to salvage anything from bricks, cut stone, and rebars to steel, so they can use those (secondary) materials to build up their own city, slowly erasing the past as they do it.
>>97073809>I have no problem with that
>>97072808>precious-looking necklace that contains the digital avatar of an ancient pre-Disaster mind transfer recipient who will appear and try to convince anyone wearing the necklace to go to a specific vault location - knows a lot of science but nothing about the current real world

>>97073993I have no problem with people building actual new buildings is what I meant, learn to fucking read
>>97072808>mad scientists that are Budson and beaker homages making a hot air balloon that heats the air with methane harvested from brahmin. Player input can help the balloon for science, for various faction's air superiority, hinder because no man should have such power, etc. >4 neo-soviet surf rockers in pursuit of Buddy, a renegade ronin rocker. They are moderately drunk and interested in the party's shoes. >dirty white VW beetle covered in spikes and corpses idles aggressively at the top of a bluff overlooking the road>mutant who can't read but can absorb the knowledge in a book by eating it. He has attracted a cult of insane followers seeking books for him to consume. >a roving camp of Friends of What's Left of the Earth, militant hippies with tie dye and the need to convert everyone they encounter to giving peace a chance or else.
>a massive radio tower, leaning slightly to one side>it emanates waves of pain; the close you get, the more pain>it has thick cables running to a geothermal power plant underneath it>a 1 mile radius around it is littered with the skeletons of animals and people that stubbornly approached it, thinking to find treasure (there is none)>a satellite in distant LEO has been monitoring the site for the last 90 years
>dingos eating the desiccated body of an astronaut who crash-landed to earth>he has a sample of alien/mutant/cthulhulian life on board his pod, still sealed and intact
Blame meets Metro 2033. Some city with a major subway system like NY or Ronto was in the process of expanding it when the bombs fell. The construction robots have continued working on it but their programming has grown corrupted and they're constantly building a huge labyrinth that makes no sense.
