You should be allowed to just order your deck in whatever order you want
>>97082277There's certainly a game idea hiding behind this shitpost. What if you are allowed to do that but there's automatic actions that are taken and you watch your deck and its configuration play out against anothers? You're literally programming the deck with card selections and order. Mite bee cool.
>>97082292>There's certainly a game idea hiding behind this shitpost.Zatch Bell ccg did that, by my understanding. You had a little book, one sleeve per page, and you ordered your deck in it. Flipping through the book was apparently integrated into the gameplay.
>>97082292There's a recent boardgame called tag-team that is close to this idea, i didnt find it very interesting
That literally just solved Ranger. You've done the impossible that LSS could not for over half a decade.
>>97082297Fuck, I want to play that now. Sounds very neat. >>97082299I'll check this one out too. I appreciate unorthodox game design over say repeating magic but it's "fixed" this time.
>>97082277>>97082297yeah, was gonna say Zatch Bell. didnt last, but it was a cool idea.ashes gets like 75% of the way there just by letting you pick your first hand. the rest of the deck is shuffled but it always feels like enough to let you execute "the plan".there's also Aeon's End where putting your deck in to a fixed order is the whole strategy but I don;t know if that could work 1v1.>>97082292there was one that just came out like this wasn't there? super auto pets battle?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYhrdHWoDuY[One Piece] - Should change with OP14 right?
>>97082342I was gonna mention Ashes, and funnily enough, not only can you pick your starting hand, you can also pick your mana (for a cost).
>>97082450I love Ashes resource system, getting guaranteed colored mana but randomized strength is a much more interesting luck element. Starting 5 is pretty nice too but I'm not sure how much that changes depending on the matchup.
>>97082277it would be interesting how much mill would fuck with people if they fixed their deck order. mindgames for days.>>97082450yeah the fixed first round and set mana pool make that game very consistent. it's still possible to get fucked by the deck but usually only under narrow conditions (meditating off the one card you needed, failing to draw the 3rd counterspell at the critical time, etc) and never at the beginning. consistent starts are something I wish more games would try.the downside of consistency is it makes games feel deterministic and auto-lose when you're learning. lots of players just bounce off that in frustration.the other way to get consistency is to just give players tons of built-in draw and let them go through the deck really quickly so if they need to find something they always can.
>>97082490>Starting 5 is pretty nice too but I'm not sure how much that changes depending on the matchupusually players will have a standard start that they plan out as part of the deck and then swap out one or two cards to cover bad matchups. similar to a sideboard. and there's some headgames around specific shit like "will he start two big threats? - I should start double removal" "he will probably rush wide.. I need to start AOE" and how the first round will sequence out. coming out of the first round a trade ahead is huge esp in any kind of aggro mirror.its still stupid hard to predict how the first round goes even with picking your hand. you can know exactly what you want to do but you can't predict how the other player is going to try and fuck with it.
>>97082551Ashes is blessed by good design, but it is a shame how the complexity and the aforementioned deterministic outcomes have scared off a broader audience.
>>97082562the publisher is also dogshit at promotion, for all of their stuff. a good game only gets you so far. you literally would not know their games existed if you didn't go seek them out. theyre good at supporting current players, which is why the games run so long, but the hype generation is zero.its not just the LCG curse either. hubworld and gudnak are equaly small companies. ANR doesnt even have a company. and there;s plenty of noise about those, prize support, events all of it.
>not even a crumb of spoilers today in the multi hour long streamThanks, James Whyte. Very Coulee
I'm a Yu-Gi-Oh main but I'm looking for a side game to play. What do you anons think of Grand Archive? I just bought 2 starter decks to give it a try with my gf (female). What size are the cards? All I have are the smaller YGO sized sleeves. I assume these are the more traditional size?
>>97082703Standard sleeve size, not Japanese like you surmised. Grand was poised to be a great game and was well received, kinda like an anime Fab. However, without warning, suddenly the bottom fell out. I recall someone discovering they literally binned palettes of starter products because the growth of the game was horribly overestimated. That was like two years ago: I have no idea what status its in now.
Riftbound nexus night tomorrow at my LGS, yet they dont have nexus promo packs, will only give them to people who go x-0 at the event (given at a later date), fee for attenting and nothing for just attending. Is this common or do I just have a shitty LGS?
>>97082794Usually for fab we get promos that have stacked up from past seasons or just prize packs. I think rift is so new and undersupported that it will be awhile before it stabilizes.
i want to play ashes nowalso, how's gudnak?
>>97082897I really like it. Gudnak is comfortably situated between kitchen table and beer and pretzel level of play, but the guys making it have run successful tournaments at big game conventions like gencon already. They're still working on fulfilling their kickstarter for a new expansion box, I'm not aware of huge delays for it. There was a recent update talking about their booster boxes, which are intended to be optional and are not required to enjoy the game. In that update they admitted that collation got fucked up somewhere along the lines, and basically each pack is heavily geared towards one faction. This means in sealed you will get lots and lots of faction synergy while in draft you're going to have pretty much all that you will need to run a consistent deck every time. I'm sad about this but honestly they're just cosmetic DLC for the normal constructed version of the game. I like to draft and the idea here was you can assemble a crossfaction setup in limited that is otherwise illegal in constructed. The collation issue botched that vision a little bit you can still get interesting results from it. As for gameplay, it's simple and not as heady as other recent indy entries. For that fact I like it as a sidegame to help palette cleanse from ultra tryhard comp games. The one gripe I have is that their rulebook is terribly sparse and unclear on certain interactions. To counter balance that issue, they have a great discord that you can submit questions to and the creators are very engaged with their community. I hope they get a better rulebook if the game continues to grow in scope, but for now it's not difficult to execute with the existing cards. Right now they have a core set, four factions plus neutral cards, at least two precons for every faction in it. Then there's two supplemental sets that have one new faction each and they come in only one precon configuration, plus extra cards to build with for the 6 existing groups plus neutrals. /shill
>>97083029One last thing to mention because I ran out of space: the game successfully supports 3 player mode and has a custom map to help manage that and make it equally difficult to siege someone's castle. Not many games scale perfectly to three, but this one does. Also the game is 20 card decks, 5 heroes, 5 actions and 10 bog standard units. Your castle is your deck, and when you run out of cards in it and the enemy sieges you, then you lose. This means drawing cards is very much a dual edged sword and not the best action or effect in the game, which most other games it usually is the most important effect you could benefit from. Deck building is simple, you have a rock paper scissors typing on all cards that allow the favored type to get a bonus when attacking into their preferred enemy. You choose two of that triad to have high powered units in (rank 3), always leaving you with one weakness you can't cover up with basic units. Heroes can sometimes be multi-typed or type less as a nice twist, but you only get 5 of them. One rank 3 hero, two rank 2s and two rank 1s; everyone has the exact same deck building ratios. The game play is all about how you wield and protect your three rank 3s, and use your rank 2s to punch up and trade with 3s of a preferred type while your rank 1s serve as meat shields to advance your army up the field and lay seige to the enemy gates. If there's an enemy at your gates at the start of the turn you auto mill one card from your deck and skip your mandatory draw for that turn. No cards in deck means you lose when sieged. Also finally, your rock paper scissors types can pile up into stacks that match, thankfully you can only hurt the top most stacked card at a given time. So you're layering high powers under weaklings and charging them up the field to crash the gates and withstand counterattacks. Simple.
>>97082703It's pretty fun and has cool resource system. But like some cards that are staples are wayyyy too expensive. You can build cheap decks but they just might be a tier below what you'd want it to be.
Well I'm trying Dragon Shield for the first time. Used Ultra Pro pretty much my whole life because I don't like change but the past few packs have been not great for some reason.>>97083408>You can build cheap decks but they just might be a tier below what you'd want it to beHonestly that's fine. I just want a side game to play for fun and I like the art>>97082733>That was like two years ago: I have no idea what status its in now.Well looks like it's a Webcam game so probably not good I suppose. At least for me anyway. I don't think I'm in a place that will have locals for it.
I'm about to buy a budget Darth Vader pilot deck for myself and the precon Han Solo deck for a friend for Christmas for Star Wars Unlimited. Is this a good idea?
>>97083823Ultra pro are bad. Kmc hyper matte or ultimate guard katana are my favorite, but dragon shield are definitely a step up from ultra pro.
>>97082623>the publisher is also dogshit at promotioni only know of ashes because of /acg/ lol
>>97082794At our LGS around top 50% of people get the promo pack, and like top 20% get promo pack + booster. There is just not enough product right now for normal rewards.
>>97083957Don't think either will be very expensive. Go for it. I played precons against my brother on multiple occasions. Even though he doesn't give a crap about collecting it, he does always enjoy playing the game.
>>97082733>>97082794ablut a quarter of the players at my nexus night were running viktorI managed to get paired against a yasuo first match and lux the secondfirst game came down to the wire because he didn't mindsplitter me before trying to conquerer, but he didn't make that mistake the second roundagainst lux, i was able to get a foothold and draw a bunch of cards before she was able to everyone who joined (10 players?) got black 3-card promo packs and a 2-card clear pack with a legend+championthe only notable thing from mine was an alt art mind rune and a promo atamped jinx
>>97083823Dragon Shield is still my go to but their QC has gone down a lot in the past few years. Every once in a while you'll get a box that splits like crazy now
>>97083823I have dragon shield and either im shuffling them poorly or the quality is ass there a scuff mark about 2 centimeters from the top and bottom of each end card, so when the deck is stacked up theres two fain lines running down the side of the deckMaybe I am too rough and these exact locations are dinged from my shuffles, but then there should only be a mark on the bottom side of the decks where I slide corner of the cards in to each other, rhe top should be clean still
Bros... new card game just dropped
>>97084986lel
>>97084986>look for crypto redemption cards
>>97082052>First of all you can get screwed that way in magic aswell if you're playing multi colour, albeit the dual lands make it less dangerous, not sure if sorcery has that (dual-lands)Sorcery kinda has duel lands. There's some lands that give more than 1 elemental threshold.
>>97084986This is the physical card representation of this prank being played on anyone that buys this.
>>97082897you can play ashes on ashtekigudnak is only TTS
>>97084986>paying people to play your gamelmao
>>97086704Game?
>>97084986Btw this is technically off topic. There is no game, it's all heavy bags as jpegs on cardboard. They even have a card of some stupid teen watching his life savings in crypto go into the toilet.
>32 cards in Riftbound Origins erratadLmao wtf, how is this possible, its literally your very first set
I hate watching coverage of the game these days, it includes like 6 or so heroes only and it's mega boring to watch the same matchups play out.
>>97087665Miss me with that assfaggots shit. I knew it was terrible the moment I laid eyes on the text prose.
>have exclusive interview with the creator of Sorcery >hour long, all secrets revealed! >some employee in the back is on a sales call and ruins your interview kino Louie gets no respect, no respect at all!
>>97088378If you know anything about kitchen table scammer then you would agree he could be respected a lot less. This mother fucker failed upward.
>>97087665any list? Only worthwhile errata/QA I know is on Foxfire and Nocturne.>its literally your very first settbf, this is where you'd hope the most is as you progressively template your cards better and learn.
Is Riftbound affordable yet?
>>97088777define affordable
You guys, have you heard? FAB doesn't have anything to complain about anymore. It's literally saved.
>>97088781Can I buy a good deck for $100-$200
>>97088788I have never seen a tcg so willfully ignore the opportunity to create side-grades to their most popular and impactful card designs and instead opt for reprints at every possible interval they can. After ten years fans will finally get an alternative generic chest piece that rivals Tunic, and it will almost certainly function the same way but now with downside.
>>97088378That was the shittiest exclusive interview I've ever endured. What an absolute wet blanket of a personality, on both sides of the conversation. I can't contain how mad I am at how shitty the host was and didn't even bother to ask interesting questions, just fishing for exclusive details on upcoming products to be the first to reveal to the scalper community. "No, I think I'll chose others to reveal that information. Later." The only based thing that happened in the entire exchange. >>97088525I've only just heard of the guy and he's tremendously bad at his job. I can't begin to imagine what schemes he's devised to create a following and fleece them in record time.
>>97089219I forgot to mention that anon talking about sorcery was correct, the creator is a limited fan and his product is designed and tested in that manner practically exclusively. He said he has no time to build and test constructed decks, it's always draft or sealed. Fucking based. I didn't know Sorcery was actually the good guys the whole time.
Those of you who buy booster boxes, how do you store your cards? I got a bunch of trash SRs but I don't know where to put them really
>>97089902
>>97089902What do you mean? I put them back in the booster box, then that goes back in its case box. When that's over I put it in my closet and forget I had those cards to begin with.
>>97089902just donate the shit/worthless cards to a new player. make it someone else's problem.
>>97090146I rather throw it in the coat dungeon and let the singles marinate for a decade or more.
>>97089254>don't bother to playtest anything>just explain away any glaring oversights as being ” intended for draft">this makes you the good guys, somehowif FAB players will buy that line, I'm sure you can sell it to Sorcery players too.
Been playing fracttal tcg recently - plays like a mix of hearthstone, eternal, and pokemonhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/3752950/Fracctal_TCG/
been playing gundam tcg simulators and I'm starting to see a reoccurring pattern white blocker spamis irl about the same or do people actually play different decks?
>>97091148Some people play their own builds at locals but at any event with real prizing most will be on x/W blockers or aggro. Midrange is currently just shit so you're forced into aggro/late game and any late game deck needs to run blockers to not die in 3 turns to aggro
>>97091161think they'll actually address the heavy reliance on blockers later or is this just it?
>>97091228If they release some actually good new archetypes, all the new stuff in GD02 was either straight up shit or missing a few cards that would actually make it good
Pls let this be the sorcery expac that actually creates a scene in my city. It’s not looking promising. But I am ready to buy a case of gothic if it does somehow materialize.
>>97073008>As for imprison. Apparently it's because black slaves in the USA used to have masks like those used as a form of punishment. It was too similar to real events.Slaves were also put in shackles in real life. Do we ban cards with that too? It's all nonsense.
>>97091317I got two locations, drives are roughly 6 hours round trip each. I haven't made contact. Then there's one closer to me that will stock it and is set up to play events for it, but so far has zero in attendance. With me that makes one. I'm not sure how to proceed, but I'll try it the same way I started up a fab league. Just playing the game in the store and shaking hands with those that drop by to check it out.
>>97091454>It was too similar to real events.Do y'all think these will get banned?
>>97091487No, my Illuminati group kind of needs those as deck staples.
>>97089045potentially? most decks only have like 1 expensive card you need 3 of, obvious exceptions being kaisa, yi, aurora.
>>97087612>bro didn't understand it was a joke
>>97091746That's being overly sensitive. No one's calling you or 'bro' out, just informing people what this actually is.
>>97091148Trust your intuition. The game's not very diverse and there's almost no skill expression at deck building level. (For now (good luck changing that) )
>>97088378>>97089078Louie terminated the interview after he said that and realized he's not going to get anything actually juicy to reveal to his scalped friends. What a joke. What we learned from this: Louie can't be trusted to do anythingThere's more Uniques in this set than any other set, and no printing them at lower rarity but call them Uniques (like Arthur)The creator is aware of how ass his beta precons were and it is inspiring him to take notes for the next time he gets a chance at it.The next time he'll get a chance at it us with Revised edition aka what ever it ends up being calledSmall sets will come out, they will fail to elaborate, and you will enjoy one big set a year and that's thatThis set is the largest he'll produce for now, Erik mentioned he learned the hard way that making it too big can really be hard for developers and fiddly for manufacturing The game will be growing its community support second half this coming year in some wayThere will be tournaments, even stuff resembling Worlds, but they're slowly rolling that stuff outGames got a future but the creator is in no rush to secure it
I know there has to be at least one (1) anon who played this piece of shit, what the fuck is the actual wincon? The autistic rule bible says >The first player to win 2 skirmishes wins the game. But later adds>If a player would ever move the water counter to space number 5 towards themselves, they win the game. Meanwhile the cleaned up rules included in the box contradicts it by saying>if a player would ever move the water counter to space number 5 towards themselves, they win a *skirmish*.I think it's pretty obvious the rule bible forgot to update the wording of 'game' to 'skirmish' to prevent people being confused about what "best of 3 games" entails (do I redo setup? Is my discard reshuffled in? etc) That's fine, no biggie...................except in neither rulebook do they ever say reset the counter back to 0 between skirmishes. Meaning once you move it to 5 once, technically you'll auto-win the following skirmishes which means you win the game....which means the original rules bible was actually correct.I know I have room temp iq for buying it but shit was $0.50 a deck but I'm not that retarded am I?

>Gothic delayed in EUFUCK. At least the leaks are looking real nice.
I hate Weiss Schwarz but like Wixoss and Vanguard level progression style gameplay
>>97093926>leaksI shant. I'm opening up my first box, I want to be surprised
>>97092894I don't play a lot of TCG but gd02 has to be one of the worst sets ever released in a card game right? I think the entire set added less than 10 playable cards. Every deck currently placing in tournaments is just a slightly modified version of a deck from the first set, except purple but that's from a starter deck. what the fuck man
>>97094035Absolute Chad. I wish I was strong as you brother, but the local LGS owner said that we might not get the product until January.
>>97094040Purple are the ibo decks right? How are they doing

Does Force of Will have any cards featuring cute lolis?
>>97095509It has a anime aesthetic so there has to be a few.
>>97095611My thoughts exactly but I didn't have much luck finding any while browsing TCGPlayer. If only this one didn't have the two other girls because Shana's solo card art isn't as cute. That Head Chef is okay. Please post more if you know any.
>>97095509It's a banquet, dude.
>>97095730Looks like it. This character alone has a bunch of art.Can you point me in the right direction for others?

>>97095789Nigger.
>>97095802Sorry!

>>97096151>There's a Little girl species.I can't believe I forgot that.
>>97096151>Little girl speciesForce of Will seems like a very good card game.Much appreciated, I now know the way.
>>97094073The interview with Erik revealed the product has been sitting in North America for a long time. Hearing that has got to suck, on top of having the delayed release. Those two from Denmark had some metered dissatisfaction in regards to EC not learn this yet from prior releases. I will tell you this though, when it comes, the limited games will be so fucking good. We're in for a real treat. Happy hunting out there for yours.
>>97089078I always get the feeling LSS regrets the equipment system entirely. we're this many sets in and they've made basically zero effort to maximize it.for comparison WoWTCG, the game that's class system most closely resembles FAB's, had multiple viable options in nearly every slot for every class by like year 2. and that with both more equipment slots per character and it launched with way more classes.
>>97097255It was the one thing they used to sell the dream in the beginning. Start full, always have your best equipment on hand the moment the action starts. That and every card is at minimum a resource, attack/action and a defense.
>Go X-1>Bubble out of top 8 and get the same prizes as the guy who came 32ndVery cool!
If you were taking bets, when do we officially hit peak oversaturation in the TCG market? When does the bubble finally pop again?
>>97097596>peak oversaturationI feel like 2025 is it, man. I don't know where we go from here, but the forecast and reading the tea leaves right now says all classes of collectibles are declining. The pop comes when the illusion is shattered that all this cardboard isn't actually worth what collectors are saying it is. However, as time goes on, things get rarer and rarer, and by sheer fact of not that many sealed boxes of Ex Yi Zed existing on this planet, it makes some of these card games valuable as a piece of card history. Not everything gets to be equally cherished and respected though, so you'll have your flat 'who cares?' belly flop titles and then you goated innovators that left their indelible mark on the hobby.
