>Be a player of TTRPGs for over a decade
>See all the horror stories online of GMs going insane for players defeating their content too easily/the wrong way/etc
>Can maybe recall my GMs getting salty two or three times, tops
>Finally start GMing myself
>Realize I have a bit of a competitive streak in me
>Spend weekends setting up scenarios, campaigns, puzzles and encounters like any GM would
>Sometimes the players demolish it effortlessly
>Never once feel my salt levels rising

Have I just been lucky or do people really lie on the internet?
>>
I have never been mugged. I bet all the people who say they have been mugged are lying.

That's what you sound like, btw.

>reddit spacing

but yeah op pretty much all the horror stories are made up
>>
Online stories are 90% fake it's a safe bet to assume so. Irregardless, the people that real horror stories come from are the ones that normal people can usually detect and avoid like the smell of shit.
>>

Tbf, its harder avoid those people when joining online games.
>inb4 don't play online games.

A lot of them are made to intentionally ragebait but there's always GMs that make mistakes.
I have a particularly embarrassing memory of players trouncing an encounter that was meant to be so difficult that I gave them a bunch of NPCs to act as human shields so they could whittle it down before it got close. Since I was really inexperienced and didn't know a lot about GMing, my solution was to just start spamming enemies at them.
No one's perfect their first time doing anything, and a lot of potential first time GMs get paralyzed with fear that they'll fuck something up.

>accuse others of reddit spacing while doing reddit spacing
Bold move.

>Be player
>Experience a moment where the GM was unprepared for whatever I had in my head
>Excited
>Session over
>Run a victory lap on the internet
>Make the GM sound insane in my retelling
>Rake in internet points

OR

>Be nonplayer
>Play no games
>Remember stories about people playing games
>Want to join in
>Invent hyperbolic narrative for internet points
>Rake in internet points
>>
>>97086520
You are a faggot for not continuing the cycle.

>players beat encounters easily
Yup
>players skip content
Mhmm
>players dont read their item effects
That's fine
>players spend over an hour in the town just looking at shops
Okay
>players almost wipe to an encounter that was supposed to be easy
No problem
>players keep trying to attack stuff out of combat
Sure thing

>technical issues
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
