Instead of comming up with new unit ideas, tell us what common ideas you hope will never get made

Well sure, but marines are even more so and afaik they're not in darktide. I can see *a* stormcast in an aos vermintide clone, but not 5 of them lol.
>>97092548

Mhmm, I like most of the common ideas put out there honestly, at least the ones I can think of right now. I guess maybe shitmob foot infantry? I feel like being all mounted is their schtick for now.

Does anyone have that piece of artwork where it's a stormcast, probably a knight questor, standing on a floating disc or platform and there's a path in the darkness leading to an an shadowy eye in the center of the frame. And there's a lord of change on either side of him. Could be two lords of change I don't remember well.
>>
>TQ
More fucking bugs for sylvaneth. I hate them, they're fucking cringe and arent cool at all. I really dont like the backpacks either, it fringes on gloomspite and nurgle territory. Its fine for the ever-queen and the treelords but good fucking lord are the riders and drychas shit is so fucking lame when you have literal fucking ghost trees commanding them. Like how am I supposed to feel anything about a horde of bees?

>>97092570
enemies have to be challenging. Stormcast are, and you can feel their plight if you give them some decent dialogue during encounters as to hints of their personalities. Shit you can even rip off the nemesis system to have them recognize you or something.

>>97092569
you're thinking of the silver tower art.

pretty sure you can't for legal reasons or something

I hope spiderfangs doesn't get squatted.
Spider riders and the giant spider multibuild kit derserve to exist. and don't break thems. if anything just put regular moonclan on top instead of naked loincloth gobbos

Foot infantry would facilitate a squig herd style unit but no, they're not perpetually in motion and have cave homes. It's flanderisation like expecting every Moonclan to ride a Squig.
Even BCR in AoS 1e had the Icebrow Hunter and they were defined by mandatory motion

I get the feeling it was designed as pick up scenarios rather than a campaign system. There's no narrative, no real character progression, and everything seems to discourage attachment.
The dice pool is gone which means your turn is irrelevant to other players. There's no anticipation to see what you roll and consequently what you can do or dice gifting so other players can perform another action because they don't expect synergy. Every player just acts alone and the random objective driven play makes the condition of other players their own problem.
Idk it seems legitimately terrible and I haven't seen a positive review but I guess I'll wait and see

Why is Warhammer Quest in the third round and not in the AoS Round?
>>
>>97093554
Because it's a different game. Just like how Necromunda and 40k are not in the same category.
>>
>>97093501
The generic dragon is better since it doesn't have an ugly vampire on the back
>>
>>97093564
But all the Kill team, War Cry and Underworlds kits are in the first two categories.
Necromunda is a Specialist game, just like all the other models in that category, except for the Warhammer Quest ones

Fair point. Strength vs toughness tables can be left out, but spillover damage could help negate hammers being too killy

>40k minis were so shit this year that the tyranid terrain is the best looking thing in the selection
>>
>>97093634
No, spillover damage is a godsend. The last thing we need is save by save slowrolling, that shit is a fucking cancer on 40k

You can deal with the hammers without needing to rewrite the games underlying systems
>>
>>97093634
What's damage spillover? AoS attacks target units in an abstract sense
>>
>>97093652
Spillover damage does make the game a BIT too lethal. We’ve been complaining that foot hero’s are useless and I feel like if they could find a way to intervene on that it would be good to counteract that.
>>
>>97093634
>could help negate hammers being too killy
A good start would be to bring back weapon range, every model having an effective 6" range is completely dumb and make reinforced units way too strong
>>
>>97093672
No, there were plenty of times in the game where it wasn't as lethal and we've had spillover damage since day 1. Spillover damage isn't the problem
>>
>>97093672
Lots of games have activations and buffs dependent upon heroes. AoS should go back to only heroes being eligible to use command abilities and restore warscroll command abilities if not battletome tables for them like spells or prayers
>>
>>97093681
AoS is all about abstraction, just slam minis together and they all attack
>>
>>97093501
I voted for
>warp spider hero
>vampire on a dragon
>chink dragon-lady
I know, probably some basic choices, but I liked them so fuck you.
>>
>>97093672
teh reason its too lethal is

-fights twice
-strikes first
-hits and wounds on 3s or 2s andd have +1 to hit and wound
- 4+ attacks per model (before the aforementioned fights twice)
-crit mortal on fucking everything
-rend 2 or better on almost every unit
-3d6 charges in almost every army
-points have increased and armies have shrunk, as a result opponents have fewer and smaller units to soak hits, while hammer units can now be worth up to 25% of your total points or more, meaning with a single buff like AoA you can affect a quarter of your army at once.
>>
>>97093651
logan grimnar i would say was an AoS caliber sculpt, but the rest were pretty boring
>>
>>97093681
i actually think the weapon range is a bit of a red herring. a lot of the deadliest hammers in the game have very small footprints, and even with 1 or 2 inch ranges would still get into combat without too much trouble. also removing base size as a combat statistic (25mm bases being very good, 32mm bases being very bad because of the inch) was definitely the right move
>>
Potentially good news.

>>97093924
If you want a novel then Starseer's Ruin is the most recent one released and also has some of the most interesting subject material in a while. Or, since you liked Godeater's Son, you could go for Yndrasta: The Celestial Spear by the same author. If you want a lighter read to ease yourself back into things, Grombrindal: Chronicles of the Wanderer should be the way to go. It's episodic and has a similar appeal to Princce Maesa, but tells brighter stories. All three are good.

So I'm swapping my OBR army for a Slaanesh Army, gonna be winding up with the Spearhead like 30 extra archers, lord of hubris, Sigvald, 10 painbringers, some extra cav, extra Slaangors, and an extra thing of the little noodle tongue guys, also the goofy terrain piece.

Anything in particular I should be aiming for? I feel like I'll have just about everything I'd need basically.(Other than Glutos, I'm getting Glutos HE NEEDS TO BE IN THE ARMY I LOVE THAT FUCKING MODEL)
>>
>>97094394
i dont think we have any dedicated slaanesh players who frequent the thread, at least i havent seen any. might be better off asking reddit
>>
Hello it's sad and lonely anon again, who every years uses GW's 'model of the year' voting thing to count how many models GW released for each system this year. So, without further adooooooo.

In 2025, Games Workshop released
>40k (Including Kill Team)
74 Models
>AoS (Including Underworlds)
47 Models
>Specialist Games (Horus Heresy, TOW, Legion Imperialis, Blood Bowl, Necromunda)
91 Models

I can't remember how many they did for 2024 because all my data is on another hard drive.
>>
>>97094426
Dang, but that's fair. I guess I swapped one niche army for another just polar opposites in playstyle. If I remember anything from the only time I've played Slaanesh, lord of Pain mixed with Archers = murder, cavalry makes a solid wall, I didn't see Glutos or Sigvald but honestly they seem pretty straight forward. If I've got at least 2k points nothin' wrong with winging it for a game and seeing how it goes!

I'll hold off on asking them for now, maybe I'll get lucky in this thread! Thank you though anon!
>>
>>97094434
I thought we had more desu, but I guess when 40k primarily has like 8 space marine hero models released every single event that stacks the numbers. (Same goes for Specialist games having like 4 forgeworld exclusive characters per event for each game)
>>

How do you figure?

I looked for channels covering the game, that was the main reason I am not buying it. Darkwater is following the AoS trend of dumbing everything down to try and attract the 40k crowd. The game sucks and $250 for a smattering of models with little utility is silly.

I need some second opinion.

So I am making a Skaven army, mostly for Oldhammer painting purposes, but I do not exclude the possibility that I might put them to battle at some point.

The issue I have is that I am not sure which bases to take for them. I could go full retro and do like 20x20 for Clan Rats, go more more with 25x25 or even do round 25 and get some 25x25 adapters so I could field them in more games... thoughts?

AoS requires round bases, TOW uses trays. You are nogames if you think 25x25 is an option. Prior to 4e weapon changes 20x20 wasn't really an option either
>>
I find it quite funny that the TOW pigs and /v/ermin are doomposting about darkwater, given that they're made by the same studio, just like all the other warhammer quest games were. If darkwater bombs then the specialist design studio, i.e. TOW will get less funding in the future given how strict gw bean counters are with product lines.
What makes that even spicier is that in the last annual report GW already stated they will course correct to make up for some mistakes by sticking to what they know. I.e. favouring Age of Sigmar.
The doomposting is just irony.

In my bitsbox. I've used 'em throughout the years here and there on Death Guard and such but kept most of them for projects I never got around to. Planning to convert some Bretonnia Pegasus into Nurgle "Dark Pegasus" riders since I loathe the Pusgoyle models.
I've got another two boxes of Blightkings to build plus 3 Wurmspat so I'll be adding to 'em eventually. I've 100% completed my massive collection of Nurgle daemons except for my GUO so once we refocus on AoS in my area (currently focusing on MESBG) I'll be free to carry on the mortal side.

I don't really like 'em but I've so many (36 counting two sets of Wurmspat I'll be using to bulk out the squads with the two awesome Blightkings that come in the set) I don't need to worry.
I plan to get Rotswords and Sloven Knights since in 1st and 2nd ed AoS (which we still play) you can take Nurgle Chaos Warriors/Knights in a Maggotkin army and those'll look more fitting on the tabletop.
Don't plan to get anything else in the new wave. I do look forward to having my Harbinger of Decay leading a band of Nurgle looking Chaos Knights into the ranks of the Hallowed Knights though.
>>
>>97095952
Yeah personally I vastly prefer the new stuff, but of course I'm no nurgle player so it's interesting to hear the perspective of actual maggotkin players. I agree the rotswords look dope as fuck, probably my favourites of the whole reveal.

As someone who just hopped on and is still working on his army, the rot swords look neat but I don't know if I wanna get them compared to like the quest pestigors (but I'm delaying buying quest as long as I can) the sloven knights are eh, the new blight kings are good looking but not really comparable to what we have now, and the rotswords are just kinda good (even if I'm sick of horns on every model)

Yknow I feel like dorfs can be translated fairly easily to CoS' proto-industrial, blocky geometric design, but for elves that's kind of trickier. First of all if you just stick em in normal cos gear no one would even realize they're elves in the first place, a problem dwarfs obviously don't have.
I think they could maybe work with a wildercorps style, allowing them to have more flowing textile and whatnot in their sculpts, which can help sell the lithe look. Building on that they could form the cities' light cav, mounted with guns and shit.
>>
>>97096239
I don't see it as a question of whether they could be worked into the new aesthetic, more that I don't think there's any strong intent to even try doing so on GW's part.

>>
>>97096301

It's a shame because jolly cooperation is one of the more unique things about cities, along with the late medieval/hussite firepower thing which you don't see too much in fantasy.

I don't think I like this. I feel like Fyreslayers should be expanded away from just Duardin, like fire belly ogors getting added into them. Just all half naked fire worshippers. I also like DoK as the monstergirl faction, they should eat into the BoC real estate and have big titty minotaurs.

which sucks because elves could easily slot in as a scouting force that can tag threats before they reach the frontlines or as a rapid-fire war machine crew, y'know, something that their finesse could take advantage of like a ballista. They can even have those floppy hats like the top image to keep their ears exposed and make it obvious they're elves and not humans.

>I don't think I like this.

>>

>>97096239
it's not that GW can't do CoS elfs and dwarfs, it's that they don't want to because they want CoS as the majority human faction. The continued existance of elfs and dwarfs in the book is only because they didn't want to piss grognards off after they killed WHFB, so they gave them a way to keep playing with their minis. If that supposed leak about fyreslayers getting turned into khazalid holds as a general dwarf faction is true, I would put CoS getting new dwarf and elf units at basically zero. Honestly, instead of putting non-humans into CoS, they should just rewrite the rules for regiments of renown so you could take some units from the same grand alliance.

They make so many of these fucking commemorative series garbage sculpts that they lose all meaning. Reminder too that these limited time sculpts they charge premium for are often artist tryout sculpts that cost GW nothing.

Meta lists are Glutos, Twinsouls, Blissbarb Archers, and Slickblades.

Nothing in there you'd call trash aside from maybe the Slaangor - but I like their SoG scrolls since you get a 9" fuck-you missile that does 3 dmg with a charge and potentially a lot of Out-of-Combat moving.

In my experience, Sigvald is a hero-nuker and a distraction piece. But my Siggy specifically likes to fucking roll like dogshit despite his weapon being a 2+/3+

>I feel like Fyreslayers should be expanded away from just Duardin
They could have magma/fire elementals indigenous to the volcanos they inhabit. Some offspring of other godbeasts, like Ignax, Ignimbris, Fulminax, or just some cousins of the magmadroths like how stardrakes and draconith are all descendants of Dracothion.

Not a fan of twin souls vs the standard armored dudes (especially if my friend loans me his fancy airbrush and pearlescent paint for their armor and shields) And honestly good to hear! I'm pretty excited to swap from the slow ass Ossiarch for something that has both ranged and speedy options alongside one of my favorite models of AOS! We'll see how it goes but i'm very optimistic!

You could run both, honestly. Twin Souls just get nicer buffs overall. Painbringers have a better save (3+ vs 4+) and a better hit on their weapon, on top of +1 rend when fighting on an objective you don't control.

Twin Souls, however, get +1 attack (at -1 to hit in comparison), but also cause -1 attacks and get a 5+ Ward if they're in combat and haven't charged this turn.

Could do half and half, let the Painbringers push up and Twin Souls hold.

A good combo is Sigvald with a Lord of Hubris as a bodyguard. Hubris uses its ability to either force Sigvald to be ignored by a unit, or give Strike-Last. Then you use Threnody Voicebox to give everything -1 attack on top of that. Makes for an annoying time getting to Sigvald.

It does sound tempting, I'll keep it in mind! Lord of Hubris sounds like a very fun unit to fiddle with. Faction looks very fun and I'll be excited to get to paint it and fiddle around with Sigvald finally. Again, still 200% biased for Sigvald and Glutos haha.

why does 40k get rerolls for hit/wound but aos doesnt?

I’ve been looking at the OBR scrolls and sheets and while I’m 100% a noob they look really powerful.

They have a lot of overlapping buffs, tough units that hit decently hard and accurately. They have recursion and wards too with good saves. Their relentless discipline rules also seem very versatile and everyone always tells me that doing things on your opponents turn is always strong.

They are rather slow, is this their Achilles heel? They appeal to me but I’m afraid they’ll be oppressive to my opponent. Idk it just looks unfair. Can somebody give me the bone boy rundown? They have some nice spearhead boxes you can double up on for a good chunk of points and variety.
>>
>>97097530
They're tough, slow as fuck, basically have no recursion outside of a few niche cases, your cav is good and Mortek are a solid battleline and you get lots of buffs.

The achiles heel is speed and that they're the death faction with the least amount of healing/recursion. (Also units are pricey and you're relatively "elite" for a death army) I didn't vibe with them, they have some neat stuff but still feel very lacking in terms of variety and options, and GW is pushing them as the slow "aura/buff" army which I didn't vibe with.

they certainly arent the best faction in the game, and if you dont have Katakros to play then you're going to have a bad time.

With Katakros however theyre a bit of a noob stomp army, to beat it you need to be smart to play around Katakros and maybe go for a double turn.

But all of the elite armies are kinda like that, so dont feel bad when you win a wh game, cause generally ur opponent will be sad lel

The leak for DoK is that they are getting rolled ino Malerion and his elves. No surprise as DoK are at the very bottom of ownership and popularity.

I largely prefer AoS factions to old world ones but DoK just feels like they took old world dark elves and cut out half the good shit.

They should've souped CoS Dark Elves with them but then we'd have WFB Dark Elves and they didn't want that. Malerion will save us.

Thanks for the info.

If you’re gonna have a bad time without katakros, does every list that takes itself seriously run one? Like, in a given OBR army would they usually run a Katakros? Because while I don’t dislike the model I’d prefer to have another hero and not paint such a detailed centerpiece diorama.

Besides that they pretty much just slowly trudge up the board and hold their ground right? Like a macro-heavy army

I mean you can do whatever you want, but Katakros will make things work much easier. And yes, you want to slowly move to hunker down and then kill anything that comes close. (And pray the enemy doesn't have anything with lots of rend or lots of ranged bullshit) Also the endless spells are good, they're literally just spawning units on board.

Also Gothizzar Harvester is basically a waste of a slot, the healing is mediocre, the damage is inconsistent and 140 for that army is just too much for what is brings. Also as much as I love him Arkhan is just fine, he's not terribly amazing in comparison to just bringing chair wizard that can give strike first. I hope you can find joy in Ossiarch I'm kinda sad to be selling mine but I'm keeping my Katakros because ironically he is something I wanna hobby up and just have as a little show piece. (Also I magnetized his little gang)

yes sadly, OBR isnt in the best shape internal balance wise. For a competitive list Katakros is almost mandatory. Now its definitely possible to win without him but likeee Arkhan isnt that good, and all the other heroes are pretty fragile, if they die, you lose all your relentless disciplines and spells which makes your units much more mediocre a 4+ save wounding on 4's is pretty rough
