Had a small tourney yesterday, two matched play games. First against Death Guard and the second against Knights. Lost the first 68-72 and won the second 88-67. Scouts are way too good for secondaries. The melta drop pod works best as a distraction carnifex to lure units into a fire lane for my vindicator (mvp here, dealt way too much damage, killed a knight lancer and canis rex each in one turn though with the help of an IP redeemer and my terminator captain with his S11 fist) but their damage is respectable even if they only last one turn.

The terminator deathstar got stranded after shooting the deathshrouds they intended to charge to death but they managed to catch up to Mortarion and banish him in one turn thanks to the drop pod blocking his way though he killed half of them in return with his fight on death rule.

Infernus were useful? But in the first game they just dropped on the backfield, roasted some poxwalkers and sat on the objective unbothered and moisturized the rest of the game. Against knights their flamers did very little outside of IP so they worked mostly as a screen alongside their pod.

I'm thinking of experimenting with a 10 man terminator squad instead of 2x5 so I'll remove one of the pods, put the infernus inside the land raider and use the 70 points of the pod on a librarian or something. I'm thinking with the captain they can re-roll their charges so they can just teleport in front of something but with the chaplain I can use their teleport homer to stage and then charge and hit with +1 to wound. Not sure what's the best option here.

Haemonculus No.1

I had this idea for haemonculus story, about one being a wrack and discovering that he grows bored of his master and starts the plot to kill him and take his spot. Later when he is a haemonculus himself, he is bored with torturing humans and what to experiment with other more rare and exotic races. He plan to cook a terror potion from brains of Tau erhernals and starts a quest to get some of them to his laboratory.

Just gonna post what I think it's most important

>Primaris chapter with a core of firstborn veterans sent from the first founding chapter
>Specialty: ship-to-ship boarding actions and space warfare, also good at urban warfare because the environments are kinda alike
>Favors infantry melee combat units and highly armored infantry ranged units
>Smaller amount of vehicles than usual
>Higher amount of apothecaries than usual
>Bigger fleet than usual, normally the fleet is divided into smaller groups acting independently and participating in several warzones
>Will usually accompany imperial navy fleets, sometimes mechanicus explorator and rogue trader fleets
>Will act as bodyguards for important members of those fleets, like Lord High Admirals, Rogue Traders and Archmagos
>Most hated enemies: Chaos and GSC
>>
>>97093078
I still think marines should've stay with just 1 wound. It worked fine in older editions.
>>
>>97093106
Bigger bases look great on models and allow for a lot more space and personality, they just become more cumbersome for actual gameplay.

But when everything is on 32, then we start having problems.

I think your fluffiest options would be either Imperial Fists or Dark Angels, depending on theming. If they're brutally efficient, Imperial Fists. If they're brutally noble, Dark Angels.

Since they're melee focused, if you go Imperial Fists you could bring in some Black Templar stuff and have the option of running them as that too

Imperial Fist, Raven Guard.
I'd say IFs, they're regimented, stoic yet adaptable.
>>
>>97093129
They'd pop a lot more with even just a little bit of highlighting. You don't have to do all the raised bits, just a bit of highlight on the corners will really define the shapes and give the colors a lot more depth

I am torn between smaller bases and larger bases.
Smaller bases allows for more flexibility And I think that marines on small bases are great for showing how big/bulky they are, but on the other I think a base should show the "space" the model needs in the world to move with ease, the more "active" a model is the bigger the base which is why I want to base all my vehicles, still torn between square bases, round, pill and oblong
>>
We can all agree it's fucked up for a HQ to have a smaller base than Troops
>>
>>97093161
Depends on what kind of HQ
>eldar wizard
Makes sense for a smaller base
>>
>my stormsurge has arrived
>elemental council is not bad at all for BL

>>
>>97093129
I wish there were a better solution to flight stands. I hate them so much but every flying model gently grazing a rock or pillar drives me nuts too. Smoke and exhaust or laser as supports can be fun but often look tacky and don't fit everything. I think there's just no perfect solution to the problem.
>>
>>97093166
The other Eldar wizards are on bigger bases. It's just the Spiritseer stuck on dinky 25 for some reason
>>
>>97093116
The stats and numbers in the new heresy edition work a lot better. They don't need to get to the point of having a regular ass marine with 4 wounds and 6 attacks to be balanced.
>>
>>97093161
All the Drukhari leaders being on 25mm bases drove me fucking nuts. I'm glad the Archon at least got bumped up to be bigger than the Incubi he leads.
>>
>>97093170
Generic Farseers are also still on 25s; it's just Warlocks that got bumped up in base size with their refresh.
>>
>>97093161
The opposite is equally dumb. I hate how the terminator captain is on a 50mm while every other terminator, troop and character alike, is in a 40mm.

i kind of want to start a votann army since i learned you can field basically every model as a mini-kastellan looking derp robot
i'm a little worried that there isn't much variation in army lists or how the army plays though since there's so few units
also having most of their guns top out at 36" seems rough
>>
>>97093170
>for some reason
The reason is it's an older model from before they nade 28mm bases and before they decided eldar characters should go on 32mm bases. Just put him on a 32mm GW will eventually move them to like they did with orks or marines.
>>
>>97093052
Are you doing a whole squad of missile-maxxing Itanosides?
>>
>>97093170
>up the base size
>spread the legs and take as much space as possible
It's like they never learn
>>
>>97093156
>on the other I think a base should show the "space" the model needs in the world to move with ease
it's a nice idea and why I think they should change to standardised movement trays for units rather than individual models, but in the current rules the 1" engagement range is the comfortable operating distance while base size is how much room they need to squeeze through gaps or get fully dogpiled.

Warlocks are gigachads who used to be Aspect Warriors, and spend their time working out in between rune-readings
Spiritseers are spindly and frail because they spend all their time talking to dead people, which is a full-time effort that requires a lot of sitting and listening.
>>
>>97093156
The issue with bases with vehicles is that 40k vehicles are out of scale.
Infantry look off next to them and compared them to any real world vehicle in 28mm, 32mm, or 35mm scale they all look off.
This stems from 40k old heroic scale that made everything cartoon looking with their gorilla hands and oversize weapons.
But when NuGW changed scales and proportions the retards never changed the gun size nor the vehicle scales.

RTT this weekend, trying a Taktikal list centered around Ghaz, two beastbosses, flash gits, and tankbustas. First game against vehicle-heavy ultramarines featuring 2x3 of the new Victrix squads. Opponent hasn't played a lot of 10th so I was able to maintain board control for the whole game. Funny moment when my kill rig blew itself up trying to buff nearby beastboyz. Ghaz was able to do a lot of work which is always fun. 96-41 win.

Game 2 also against ultramarines, this time with 2x6 Victrix and 2 land raider redeemers. A lot closer this time. Opponent ended up stacking all the victrix, a land raider, and centurions (more than half his army) on one side of the board so I abandoned that objective and focused on the other half. I had a few misplays but a lucky turn 5 draw for me and an unlucky turn 5 draw for him snagged an 83-74 win.

That's not how it works.
Eldar inside Slaanesh essentially get their minds shoved up against a belt sander until they know nothing except horrific pain and agony beyond description. They lose all parts of themselves until their whole existence is simply experiencing the concept of pain forever. Slaanesh only specially tortures an Eldar soul on very rare occasions, and will simply eat them like the rest when he's done with them.

Game 3 against blood angels with the typical Lemartes brick, Dante brick, and bladeguard brick. Got totally smashed. Wildly underestimated his threat range and lost a bunch of dudes turn 1. He also severely blunted my waaaagh with a fights first heroic intervention and an interrupt. The rest of the game went by very quickly. 49-94 loss. I wanna make taktikal work, but most taktikal lists would do better in war horde. The exception is the flash gits, which I underutilized all day.

But like, how does anyone know what it feels like to be eaten by Slaanesh? Did the souls establish a vox channel? How do we know that Slaanesh's stomach isn't a blissful wonderland of an afterlife?
>>
>>97093576
We actually know it because of AoS, where Malekith and Teclis started pulling souls out of Slaanesh's stomach. There's a story with a PiV of a soul being pulled out, stating they have no sense of identity or any real thoughts beyond the crushing darkness and miserable agony of their existence. They don't even know they're inside Slaanesh, all they knkw is that their reality is dark and that it really hurts to exist.

Vandoth is fine.
He is literally just a schizo blood angel marine that has lost his mind and works as a mercenary in Necromunda's underhive while just trying to survive.
He fits into the over all vibe of Necromunda and about how its a small microcosm of the rest of the batshit craziness that is the 40k setting.

Like if we wanted to be realistic about this, Imperial Fists should be a some form of "gang" or whatever in Necromunda.
Since they have a chapter keep there and they regularly recruit new aspirants from the planet.
But I don't think they need to add that.

For staining it, I wanted to try oil washes but seeing how flat most surfaces are flat I don't know if it'd work on this. It's either that or using sponges of various browns and oranges, and maybe some pigments.

>if you already had enough, why don't you now
You know when you are hungry and you satiate that hunger, the hunger can come back.
Let me spell it out as simply as I can:

I got kits for my SM army at the time, it took time to make and I wasn't trying to make a whole chapter. I bought what I needed and it was fine.

Now there are some kits I'd love to add to my collection, which I cannot. Time changes and so do people.

>If you already had enough, why would money have been an issue
Because if I spent money on anything I COULD buy, and not everything I SHOULD, then I would run out of money pretty quickly..

For a lot of people “why didn’t you buy the stuff then” has the answer of I was int middle school-just starting college when they wouldn’t have had much disposable income or if they did start the hobby they only bought what was easily available in a hobby store

You can't even use those characters in a game anon.
You need to go out of your way to make the campaign around said characters and even then you might never get them.

Anyone can play with a huge asterisk.
You can run the gang on their own, but you miss a lot of mechanics and the corrupted version is a pain in the ass to play for the same reason.
Oh and they are thought to be played only in one type of campaign bring them in any other one gimps them even further.
So they work much better as NPC for the GM to play around.
>>
>>97094594
If you want to play Malstrain only you have to play the secundus campaign, but in a normal campaign you can still play them, but as another gang corrupted by the malstrain, it makes sense because a genestealer wouldn't be able to do basic stuff like go to the market or bring someone to a hospital. In fact they explicitly tell you that you can play malstrain outside secundus, but you'd forgo all after battle actions until one of your broodscum upgrades into specialist.
Right now I'm playing Malstrian infected corpse grinders, and it's just 4 broodscum, 3 butchers and a genestealer, it's pretty fun.

Convincing friends is the way to go, but you need to be baby-sitting a lot from teaching rules to providing terrain etc. Combat Patrol although is a dogshit format can be a simple way of entry. Or boarding actions at 500pts also an option but its needs a very specific terrain to play.

No that's a fair argument, i was just giving my theory on why they choose to model some special effects and not others. Personally I don't really like special effects parts unless it's supposed to be magic. I have a hard time suspending my disbelief seeing the little explosions. I think it just triggers that autistic part of my brain the same way some people get about rivet counting or realistic weathering or lighting or whatever. I've seen a lot of special effects that I've gone "wow that looks very nicely painted" but I've never seen one that made me go "holy shit that looks like a real explosion"

Here is the november collage! Beautiful stuff everyone.

So the december vote is over and Terrain won this time around. This month though we'll do things a little differently. I got some feedback and have decided to go with the seasonal subtheme idea. This means that for the december collage you can either do Terrain and/or something christmas/snow themed.
As always feel free to share your suggestions and themes for future votes.

Thanks for participating! Unitl next time!
