The few times I get close to running out of lands I was usually so far ahead it really didn't matter. I'm looking to trying one or two of the bounce lands available in mono green. Like an Arid Archway or a Guildless Commons. Something that's a land I can play from the grave with any of the usual effects, that I can then return to hand to discard to retrace. And then on and on. Zinnia is probably the more interesting of the commander options from the commander precons and he's open enough that this guy could probably upgrade Zinnia in different ways depending on how he likes. Just be sure to think if he likes keeping track of tokens and token copies. If not Zinnia may be a good way to learn or just too much for him to get into.
