Speaking of rolling I decided to roll 3d6 down the line for one of my backup characters. I got this majestic set (this is the result after I picked race)
>>97095645Ask your DM for a reroll, or even to simply use point buy.
>>97095645It’s fine. Don’t be a faggot and play a sickly wizard.
>>97095645>(this is the result after I picked race)What was the choice there? Just glancing it over though, I don't think there's anything you can choose to take advantage of the Int score.>>97095829He doesn't even need to ask. Just roll up a Wizard and wait 5 minutes.
>>97095903>>97095829My Dm allows standard array and a lot of other bonus stuff (like max hp at each level). this backup is for the laughs.>>97095903Level 2 abjuration wizard with 10 hp (tough feat).
>>97095829I've made it through 44 sessions with this, he'll be fine.
Why is the 2024 DMG fucking useless when compared to the 2014 DMG?Really the only thing that's good is the table of XP budgets and how the magic items are organized.
>>970960835e being useless is the entire design mythos.
>>97096083I don't disagree but could you elaborate
Why aren't they remaking the Elder Evils for 5e? Would be such an easy money printing machine.
>>97096083I thought people liked 2024 better since it has more info for new DMs. and the 2014 was useless for anything but numbers and stats.
>>97096603Depends on who you ask. I find third party books like the lazy DM’s guide significantly more useful than either. The DMG has always been the least important book. Even less so now that they don’t include prestige classes or anything of much substance.
>>97096603/5eg/ is the only place I've seen the new DMG consistently compared unfavourably to the old one. The consensus more broadly seems to be that the new DMG is a more useful guide for dungeon masters and much better formatted as a reference/guide book.
>>97096083Let's clarify something. Is it useless because of the raw content or is it useless because of the money needed to pay for what is basically an update?Would it be useless without the existence of the 2014 versions?
>>97096257That would require slightly more effort than just reprinting everything they've made for 5e, or just pumping prompts into chatbots.
Tempest cleric reprint when
>>97097133true good point.
what are the strongest builds of the 2024 version? all i could find so far was that celestial warlock one with pala dip
>>97098629>buildskys
so in out of the abyss you start in a prison of the drow. who would be put there and how would the drow get ahold of them? no clue about the lore and trying to come up with a character
>>97098748>who would be put there and how would the drow get ahold of them? Night-time raids, typically. At least in the context of surface-dwelling races. That'd usually be focused on smaller settlements like towns or villages where a relatively small force of drow are able to handle any defenses. And because it's in the midst of the night, even a relatively skilled warrior or mage could find themselves surprised and overwhelmed. The other likely way would be that drow raiding party coming across people traveling or camping in the wilderness. That'd be the most likely way for someone from a larger city to end up caught. Drow do also conduct raids on other races in the underdark, where the normal night-time tactics wouldn't apply. But if you're less familiar with D&D lore it's probably going to be easier to roleplay someone who isn't from the Underdark anyway, so I wouldn't worry about that.
