>look at campaign notes>started campaign in January 2025>December 1st 2025>only played 14 sessions so far
>>97096152That sounds like a good year
>>97096152anything more than once/month is a godsend assuming all of your players are employed adults. The highest rate we ever achieved with all-adult players was twice/month and that was during the pandemic when literally all of our five players were work-from-home with flexible hours.
>>97096232During that time I was a player in a game that went from August 2019 to December 2020 and was 41 sessions. We all had jobs at the time. And I know I have had games with way more sessions per year. The group was meeting almost every week, they just started other campaigns when people couldn't make it.
>>97096152That's called a humblebrag and you should totally kill yourself.
>>97096325I'm not trying to be like that. I know it is hard for some people to find games. But I have literally made changes in my life, cost myself career advancement potentially, even romantic prospects, to dedicate myself to this hobby, and it sucks seeing it all go to shit anyway.
>>97096385>Gave up career prospects and romantic interests to play make-believe with people on the internetAnon? I don't want to sound harsh, but your priorities are bad. There is not a Player alive that would be legitimately upset their weekly (monthly) campaign was cancelled because their GM got a job, or a girlfriend. They might be frustrated, sure, but these people *are* your friends, right? That means you're still hanging out with them, and could eventually get another game going again.
>>97096409My ex dumped me partly because I wouldn't give up playing D&D every other weekend (I gave up every weekend for her, but she wanted me to stop entirely).
>>97096440You probably already know this but sounds like she removed a negative presence in your life for you, Anon
>>97096232You don't get weekends off?
>>97096677Weekends are spent catching up on all the chores you couldn't do during the weekdays. Really, once you start living with your gf time becomes valuable again. I used to goon 8 hours a day sometimes. I had all the time in the world. It wasn't better, but you didn't really appreciate it enough.
>>97096490Yeah I am over it now. I have another gf but she doesn't play D&D with me. And she'll probably dump me soon.>>97096706>>97096677I quit a job that made me work weekends because I didn't want to miss out on D&D.I risked losing my actually good job because I didn't want to work overtime on D&D days.I miss playing D&D on weeknights but my other friends work 2nd shift from the group that used to play Wednesday nights.I'm a NEET right now trying to finish up some personal projects before I go back to wagecucking and no longer have the time to do anything. Are there any decent jobs where you can work on your D&D shit while at work? Thinking of trying to get something remote but I read so many stories of women leaving their men because they got the ick from the guy working remotely.
>>97096152There's a dude in /osrg/ who claims he's played 53 sessions in the past year... And his BFRPG campaign is still going...
>>97096152I know you want to play more, but once a month is already doing better than the majority of tables out there.
>>97096440I was gonna give you shit for that earlier comment, but I think you made the right choice. This is a classic case of "It's me or the PS5" (or whatever) where an abusive, unloving, irrational partner who does not care enough about their partner forces a ridiculous ultimatum just to get an act of unconditional surrender, or just to childishly see how much she can manipulate and abuse you. Typically with future intentions to repeat that act over and over like a bratty child trying to see how much damage they can do before they get into real trouble. No matter what you do, do not pursue serious relationships with women like that. No woman who truly cares about you or actually loves you will ever try to make you choose between your personal joy and a shallow relationship.
>>97096811Email jobs or IT at a small scale company are really the only options.
>>97096811>Are there any decent jobs where you can work on your D&D shit while at work?I'm a professor and have some time. I honestly spend it grading, or working in my lab or writing papers or revising curriculum more than anything. But, in a stable world, you could have free time to plot. All the holidays and free summer are pretty sweet. This break they got me training to teach at the local prison over the winter so that's kinda fucked after finals next week.
>>97097241this is what a normal gaming year looks like.in uni we would play around 2-3 games per week
>>97096152Have to ask my gm, but i think we have like 1 session per month. Maybe 2 if really lucky
>>97096152With 14 sessions you are probably>in the top 75+% of total game sessions for players>in the top 95+% of longest running games for players
>>97098815I guess if you really, really like games, but I think twice every two weeks is already too much on top of work
>>97098927if you don't really like games then you shouldnt be in this hobby honestly. The experience becomes significantly better the more frequent you play.Even biweekly players forget half the things that happened last session. I tried it once and it sucks.I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to play monthly.I would rather not play at all honestly
>>97098934>Even biweekly players forget half the things that happened last sessionHave you considered not having the memory of a goldfish and making notesFor me I have to play after work and I have to get up early, so I physically can't survive more than 2 games max
I've got two campaigns going, one weekly one bi weekly. There's been some disruptions here and there but total sessions played is still 65. Plus a weekly night for board games, if you count that I'm at a 100+. Everyone involved in all those games has a job, some have kids. Matter of priorities.
>>97098958most people take minor notes but it still aint the same. All that "uh, let me check this npc or town name real quick" gets very tiring.Either way if half the party has forgotten half the details of the session it makes everything worse. I cant force people to have better memmory anon, it's out of my control
>>97098980Is your game too complex maybe, too much stuff going on? Or is it the absolute basics they're forgetting, like what they fought? Names and similar details are going to be hard to remember without notes no matter what, even if you have great memory, unless the DM repeatedly uses said names over the span of many sessions. What helped a lot for my game is that I made the players a big map they can put their own notes on. Town names are displayed, and they scribble npc names and whatnot next to it, quest leads, etc.
