Lets have a thread on big weapons. Any systems where this is possible? Do you prefer a "realistic" approach or do you prefer anime shenanigans? Are PCs even allowed to use large weapons on foot, for that matter?

possible in almost any system. it's called a strength check

I hate it. Maybe because I didn't grow up watching anime as a kid but that sort of thing just seems way too silly for me.

Sure, there are rules for using objects of any size in my system.

Should have the option in any game that assumes the PCs are going to be fighting monsters the size of a house. Otherwise you're just fighting a dragon with what amounts to a toothpick.
In any other context is just feels sort of extraneous.

Fixed.

Why would anyone use ludicrously sized swords if not going for an anime/jrpg feel? I mean, I can't think of any in western fantasy. The most is perhaps Warcraft's war hammers, but I bet it's more of a case of not doing math than wanting REALLY big weapons.

Western Europeans thought huge swords were cool enough to spend shitloads of money having them built.

It's a practical weapon for anyone who's abnormally strong, and anime/jrpg heroes often have higher stats than western fantasy heroes.

In a horror campaign, it could accentuate the feel of being powerless against an inhumanly strong killer
