Loving some Knight Primes.
>>
>>10862386
Asian artists depict knight primes chest as a bra holding giant tits back amd now I can't unsee it.

Newage wasp being in a twopack sucks.
>>
>>10862391
The 20-35$ range is the absolute perfect price to get me to impulse buy legends too. Whenever a big MP pre-order is about to ship I look for small stuff to get with it like IF CJ but 55$+ for two packs of mostly duplicates isnt worth it. If it weren't for NA meddling I'd probably have 4+ minibots by now. As of now my collection is IF only, and if i expand into something more expensive i will choose Iron Romance instead of NA/MS because it fits better.
>TLDR: 3P need at least one really cheap release to legends pill people.
>>
>>10862451
very curious, what's the actual price range on Iron Romance stuff? I put in a preorder for Asura but didn't see any other listings on showz
>>
You'd think 10+ tooner options per character would satisfy people but here we are with more of this flat surface shit.
>>
>>10862669

All the western stores have Asura listed at 85$ with the exception of Robot Kingdom at 53$ (not sure how their shipping works though). SeaWolf has a preliminary pre-order on ShowZ and Scylla has yet to be put up.

>just want cool modern Optimus that doesn't cheat with every truck part
>only option from the last 6+ years is MS metallic 1.0 or Zeta Oriprime
>both still suffer from doing dumb shit in the name of toon accuracy like hiding the leg wheels on MS or buttwheels on Zeta.
>Hasbro announces two G1 toy primes

I'm so tired, maybe I'll get a Convoy V-Max.

They're the same price surely

>>

Thanks anon. Also what's the difference between the MHZ and Mike toy's KOs? Saw both on the store.
>>
>>10863414
couldn't tell you, I imagine it's some logistics name change
>>
>>10863414
MHZ is upsized with the downscaled wheelie, there's a 1:1 KO by a company going by "MK" idk if that's the same as your "Mike Toys"
>>
>>10863422
Apparently MK isn't truly 1:1. It's the same size but it has integrated leg panels, episode specific accessories and scrubs some of the detailing. MHZ doesn't have die-cast while I'm pretty sure MK does.

most of the visible improvements are on the later updated newage figure too but with less tampo'd details. Those inner leg covers are even tampo'd on the edges to match the pattern when its visible up the centre of the dino tail. articulation is better & its heavier because more diecast.

The MHZ is the upscale (with wheelie figure) which isnt as good. The best one is the metallic version of the MK release. ( MK-06C )

which is still on sale for $28us here:

Unfortunately, he took a tumble and his foot snapped off recently. Been trying to figure out how to best fix him or consider if I should just swing for the re-release.

Lewin Optimus is a relic from the pre-Covid era where we were getting promised massive, 2 foot+ figures for under $500. Maybe it's because it's primary Legends collectors here these days but no one talks about how much of a monkey wrench it threw in things. You can tell that all of Fanstoys plans for the combiners and Fort Max were based around pre-2020 prices. We're STILL seeing the waves of that to this day.
Maketoy's Scorponok/Metroplex were what, like $300? that could never happen now.

>no one talks about how much of a monkey wrench it threw in things

I don't see what it had to do with anything other companies were doing since there wasn't really a comparable product from anyone else at the time?

>all of Fanstoys plans for the combiners and Fort Max were based around pre-2020 prices

what have combiners designed by a different company, in a completely different size class got to do with Lewin Prime?

>We're STILL seeing the waves of that to this day.
Maketoy's Scorponok/Metroplex were what, like $300? that could never happen now.

It doesn't cheat with the bumper and the windshield, doesnt use a shell for the wheels and back half of the van, uses proper silver and gloss paint, has an alt mode that resembles the real world vehicle and has actual mechanical detailing for the robot. It couldnt be further from a Toon design. TFC Ironhide isn't even that good but design wise this era of 3P/CHUG was light years ahead of any of the recent offerings and were far closer to capturing the actual spirit of Diaclone/'84 line.

>>10868080
Dude, I agree that the more plausible realistic robot look is better, but "couldn't be further" is either energon or bayverse Ironhide, you want a g1-ish Ironhide but better, the ones bitching over the other toys want toon accurate because they like the vinyl "toon accurate" look with the gimmick the line is known for
>>
>>10868115
>Ergo, TOTAL ACCURACY IS BEST.

dude, just cause toon but better is preferred by some doesn't mean your cartoon animation sheet is invalid in existing.
>>
>>10868142

FTFY, tooner
>>
>>10868154
You don't understand why greebles aren't bad, do you.
>>
>>10868137
"Couldn't be further" while still being the same character, if it weren't for the name you wouldn't know those two are supposed to be Ironhide. Energon Towline on the hand shares basically none of the sculpting with G1 and Cartoon Ironhide but is still clearly meant to be a successor to him.
>>
>>10868160
And you don’t understand why smooth surfaces are good, do you

Not Cartoon but not quite CHUG stuff. A great balance between them
Now they're Tooner shit and $200+ each
>>
>>10868463
Not to mention more fragile and rife with QC issues. And every MP is immediately outdated because it's never sunbow accurate enough. Every concession made to be a physical object is wrong
>>
>>10868482
Tooners are too high and brainrotted to even consider Sunbow accuracy is a joke
G1 Accuracy in general is a joke. Chasing accuracy in a Cartoon that was wildly inconsistent sometimes even scene to sceneis just retarded
>>
>>10868482
> And every MP is immediately outdated
Someone hasn’t been keeping up with the MP Hoist reactions :^)
>>
>>10868515

>>
>>10868525
People preferred the FT Hoist despite FT’s objectively being less accurate.
What I’m saying that this shit has never been about cartoon accuracy, it’s a brand loyalty thing first.
And let’s not talk like actual material matters, people will buy XTB’s junk products if there is no other alternative.
>>
>>10868299
The F-15 Eagle uses matte paint in real life. The Nissan Vannette uses gloss paint and has chrome metal accents.
>Unless you think the original MP is a sign from God
It still has the best F-15 altmode with moving airbrake, rudders and nosecone, DST Top Raid is a far better Robot/Toy though.
>>
>>10868713
Eh, the color scheme ruins it. No realism with that ugly puke green and maroon
>>
>My dick is small because G1 toy details exist on new toys

yo go re at oafe went off on lazy toon shit in his Legacy Menasor review. A robot that wears armor is not a combiner. But he had to know what he was buying and bought it anyway so...

I own Boldforms Lonewolf with CW limbs and Fansproject. I don't need toon-accuate shit.
>>
>>10868557
XTB Seaspray is very good but "waah not muh cartoon fatass", aside from the blue being too dark it's rather G1 toy. Toyworld/Zeta is cartoon & just doesn't look great.
>>
>>10868745
How is it lazy
>>
>>10868734
Real fighter jets like the Su-57 use shades of green blue as low visibility camo. They really should just rewrite Starscream and Skywarp to be stunt jets like Thundercracker. It fits his character better too.

B) You think vanilla Starscream colors are realistic? LOL
>>
>>10868872
I've seen more gray F15s than putrid green. He changed it because of his ego, not realism.
>>
>>10868163

>>
>>10868900

>>
>>10867988
Bro, even if you're a toon circlejerker, XTB's looks like fucking shit. Tell me you see those seams in the game windshield chest and think "yes, that looks good." Not to mention, compare it to the rest of XTB's catalogue which is objectively not too aesthetic and tell me it was the right move for them to step outside of their wheelhouse on this. This is bad and the wrong move for them no matter how you look at it.
>>
Everything is toon accurate until Fans Toys makes the character.
Once Fans Toys makes the character, everything else is CHUG tier in aesthetics.
Fanstoys Hoist is more accurate than Hastak Hoist, both as a toy and cartoon look. These are the words of a wise man, which is me btw.

because the VF-1s are original designs. He might very well prefer that color- but for MP Starscream he took it as an assignment to make it as real world as possible. which was in line with the MO of the Binaltech/alternator line which also forsook hard G1 accuracy in favor of modern real world accuracy. Smokescreen is perhaps the best example since
The MP line originally had no real direction or planning- the backlash against Starscream is exactly why they refined it into toon accuracy.

Well it’s been like two threads already so we’re in for another for sure at this rate.
I get not liking G1 but after last thread where someone actually tried to tell me I shouldn’t prioritize articulation over aesthetic choices is when I drew the line in this madness.
>>
>>10870467
FUCK that has so much personality
>>
I've done it bros, I took the third party pill with MS power king, and this also doubles as my first full combiner since I was never able to track down every member with hasbro's distribution and missed out on the prime wars era (probably a good thing)
I've just been messing with the individual bots for now and I love them
The bots are insanely posable and super expresive, they look great in both modes. I like how the alt modes seem to take more after the toys instead of being 100% toon all the way, it helps them feel more refined

The transformations were complex but still intuitive enough that I was able to figure them out without instructions. There were times where I got stuck but was able to figure it out with some fiddling, and it felt GOOD to figure out. Even long haul wasn't that bad, though I wish his arms had better locking points, it's still kinda impressive how he manages to bloat up into a big fat dump truck

No major QC issues either aside from a few loose joints and very minor mold flash, it did suck having to "break in" some of the tabs but that's something that'll get better with time I imagine

I haven't even combined devy yet and they're already worth the dent they left in my wallet
>>
>>10870904
yeah, these guys are pretty great, I really like the proportions of of both modes and they definitely make the best Devastator at this size
>>
>>10870904
The only problem I had with MS Devy is that scrapper's ab joint can cause stability issues in the combined mode if you have a copy with a loose joint. I ended up just gluing his ab joint solid on my mine to deal with it.

Apart from that it's a really great Devestator, and another one of those MS sets that make you really wish they'd do a few more MPs
>>

Welp, an expensive toy goes into the garbage can... when will companies stop with this articulated hand bullshit? They rarely look good, they require a palm tab to hold shit & they are rarely ever assembled with metal pins so they fall apart.
>>
>>10870467
The toon was simple & easy to draw, not meant to be how they really look. You just have shit taste. Toy details > flat boxes. 10 to 1 odds your mom drank while she carried you, too.

>inb4 my 80s nostalgia
The original airbrushed catalogs looked far better and their colorful tech panels were far more reminiscent of 80s sci-fi. Not saying we should stick to 100% toy accuracy either, MP-1 and MP-10 had the right idea of giving us a hybrid of all the best aspects, and essentially gave us the idealized form of G1 that we always imagined as kids.

Dude, when the original post that started this says "get Light of Peace, it's cheap", that's a price of what's available here and now, not a "it was cheap when it first released and was in stock everywhere" price. The price you used to be able to get it for has no relevance when giving current recommendations to someone on what they can buy.
>>
>>10872757
>And bombus shipping is not accurate, they split it to make the product seem cheaper
Factually wrong, their shipping is on par with other chinese sellers.

Nobody cares if it's available this very second on your favorite website, it's getting reissued all the time just like TE's. And if you can't wait a few weeks for the next reissue, go Taobao, it'll probably cost less than 105 shipping included to wherever you live.

If we're talking the actual Masterpiece 44 mold, it's a fine enough figure. The biggest disappointment I have with the toy accurate redeco is they didn't make a proper toy inspired head and just said "ah close enough" with the show ones. My man needs his grill whiskers.

Jesus Christ another Armada Starscream
>>
>>10875454
What do you mean "another"? As far as I'm aware, the only 3p figure that has been released is that legends scale one. All of the other 3p UT trilogy Starscreams are this design.
>>
>>10875465
We have an Armada Starscream for every scale if you count Legacy in a years time.
That’s all there is to it.
>>
>>10875465
Cybertron starscream is goddamn ugly. They had perfection with armada and it just got worse as the trilogy went on

Is there a third party legends star saber?
>>
>>10876828
Not to my knowledge, the next best thing would probably be the old Robot Masters Star Saber, but I have no idea if it's easy to find or not.
>>
>>10876828
No, but i feel like there should be.

I would love if Wu did a Star Saber in the same scale as their sandstorm. Bigger than the micromasters but not too big for a MM shelf like the current options
>>
>>10876828
Technically PX Kadmos, Irontrans, the Haslab and even the MP are legends scaled since Star Saber is quite big, IF's Liokaiser will actually scale with those.

But if you're talking about Legends-sized, A17 announced one but it seems to be in limbo.

I wonder if it's still possible to find a Iron Factory Optimus for reasonable price or if IF will ever re-launch it.
I would really like to get my hands on it alongside their Megatron.
>>
>>10877334
I just bought it for like, a lot recently. IF hasn't really been in the habit of reissues. He's fun but he's dated and he has iron factory's typical "altmodes are an afterthought" issue. His articulation also isn't much to write home about - especially in combined mode. A legends Ginrai is probably going to happen someday so unless you really want IF's Elita too you might be better off saving up, since what you pay for the IF one will probably be about what a new nice one would cost.
>>
>>10877334
If you get it, I would be really careful with the vehicle mode. I got the nemesis colors one a year or two ago, and when untabbing the big cannons to transform it back to robot mode, they were so tight and took so much force that I accidentally pulled them too far once the friction finally gave out. The plastic on the hinges tore apart and now mine is cannon-less.
>>
>>10877173
Yeah I’ll concede to the pedantics.
After all FH never did deliver on their G2 Megs.
>>
>>10877389
And damn them for that.
>>
I've been trying to get my Badcube Sideswipe transformed back to car mode for a couple of hours now. I'm glad they took the bold step of making the shoulder missile an attached piece instead of an accessory, like the official version. While it does make the transformation orders of magnitude more complex and it does significantly reduce possibility options, it makes up for it by also looking like complete shit too.

I doubt they will reissue or make a 2.0 any time soon, but I like Diaclone so I'm more than happy to accept Powered Convoy as a stand in.
>>
>>10877484
I really hope this one also has the regular Magnus head for the armored up form, I hate how Magna Convoy and Powered Convoy became the Shattered Glass version of Magnus because the color scheme is so good but that head design is fucking atrocious. Iron Factory isn't really known for putting alternate heads AFAIK, the only example I can remember is the one in their Beachcomber.
>>
>>10877639
either SG Magnus comes with a Delta Magnus head or the separate prime body does. They showed the render of it sometime last year.
>>
>>10877771
Ah, I don't remember that, I'll try to look for the render then.
>>
Caved and bought the Dr. Wu magnus during the sale.

My collection is more decepticon geared but Magnus is my favorite autobot and micromaster is my favorite scale, so I honestly felt like I needed him. Really, really hoping they do some of the other 86 cast (especially Hot Rod) so he isn’t exclusively supplemented by my Siege micros (and some of the future stuff, i have picrel and the Magnificus 2 pack on preorder)

Also been on the fence on whether I should get some Ironworks or make do with the 2 Airwaves, 1 Greasepit I have for a display
>>
>>10877771
>separate prime body
Only the white version is being sold separate, I hope they don't pull some NewAge tier shit like that.
>>10877639
The Diaclone face is definitely cool, but I just see it as the natural evolution of the character design. For example, outside of collectors stuff, Bumblebee's gasmask and door wings are just apart of the character now.
>Also its badass that every human faced TF is implied to have a Robot skull underneath.
>>
>>10877334
IF has been reissuing things lately, and honestly i hope they do
>>
>>10877771
can't find anything, so if you're able to, I would love to see that render.

>>10878057
I can understand the point of view even if I definitely don't agree, but even without my bias, the almost gothic design of the helmet just doesn't fit the aesthetics of the body; I would argue.
>>
>>10878104
The problem is that the head design was clearly made to fit the RTS laser prime body, it looks terrible on legacy because not only do the mechanical styles clash, but the deformed parts have been stylized into symmetrical organic sculpting. Skull face can work, it just needs a whole new head.
>>
I hope NewAge does Hoist soon. The MP is making me itch for one. I really hope they do a Lift-Ticket too when they do; I love that deco but the Hasbro Trailbreaker/Hoist mold is one of the absolute worst of the modern era so I didn't get theirs.
>>
>>10878422
They’ll do it whenever they get to Trailbreaker because every 3P company basically simultaneously releases both of them.
And I think Trailbreaker is the only reveal that doesn’t have an actual toy shown off yet, so he’s due soon.
>>
>>10878438
the toy deco is going to be kino
>>
>>10878422
Didn’t like the FT ones?
>>
>>10878422
I wonder if Dr. Wu is gonna tackle that design. I hope they either do all the G1 main cast, or delve more into the obscure shit like the dino casettes. Right now they’ve been doing a good mix of both which is very surprising for a 3P company
>>
>>10879514
You mean their legends+ figures with Mechanic Toys? Mechanic typically avoids overlapping with MFT and MFT KO'd Magic Square Hoist, so it's unlikely that they'll do it. Same goes for the rest of the G1 cast, they've already covered quite a lot of them between Hot Soldiers, MFT, MFT+Mechanic, Irontrans(Datsuns) and Dr Wu+Mechanic
>>

Managed to get a dirt cheap UT Swindle on eBay, only slight catch was two minor tabs were broken. Not a big deal though, they don't affect either mode.
Really cool figure- looks great in robot mode and the jeep mode is fantastic. Transformation is ingenious too, really clever but not too tricky.
I might get Brawl too, probably won't get any more of them as I know the last two kinda sucked and I don't want an MP combiner anyway, but for the £65 I paid I'm super happy.

Does anyone have Fanstoys Jive? What's he like? Never had a Fanstoys before, but he looks cool, and I saw the toy color one going around, so I'm really considering getting him.
>>
>>10881919
You probably won't find a better looking Jazz
However the transformation is very tight and compressed
>>
>>10881919
>>10881941
I personally prefer the the maketoys version of Jazz.

The transformation is pretty smart with only the legs being a bit confusing on the first go around( but there is some great video guides out there) the toyhax sets offer you different flavors in both g2 and g1 toy. And the articulation is and style is just second to none with double jointed knees, elbows ab crunch etc.

The biggest reason for it being my jazz of choice was 1. The style as it fits much more into the classic masterpiece like mp sideswipe and wheeljack rather than something like fanstoys jive
2. The door wings. Many people dont keep their wings out on jazz but to me, thats a vital part of his design. No other jazz on the market to me does the door wings better than the maketoys. Fanstoys jazz has them too small and they lack the dynamics that the character radiates to me. If Fanstoys makes a stepper/Ricochet though id probably get it just to have them both be different molds.

>>
>>10882397

>>
>>10881941
>>10882244
Eh fuck it I bought him anyways. I read through the archives and it turns out someone already posted about Jive (also toy color lol). The general consensus seems to be that he's good looking but also a pain in the ass to transform, which I'll live with.
>>
>>10881919
He looks fantastic and is probably the best on the market, visually. Transformation is pretty not fun though and even though I can get back and forth without instructions, it still freaks me out just from a clearance standpoint because it is cramped and fiddly. On of the few figures I own where I legit fear I might accidentally hamfist something during transformation.

Also, we need to talk about articulation here because FansToys doing their same old shit again. Knees are fine but they just decided to not give him double jointed elbows even though there is ZERO reason that they couldn't. They do make it past 90 but just barely. There's toon deco as well as a toy deco but it's modern FT so the toy deco is largely just toon but with some tampos slapped on. Still more interesting to look at, IMO, but some extra greebles could have gone a long way.
>>
Is bababobo's site still legitimate? I havent used them in years, but they have some figures in-stock no one else does and Im seeing more negative feedback about them and complaints about no longer being reliable. Anyone else have recent experiences with them?
>>

I still use them but there are some things that have gotten worse. The site is even more of a mess then before and they're not as relatively cheap as they once were. Preordering isn't as secure as it once was, and if questioning about it they don't respond.
You still get what you pay for though and ship quickly in my experience.

Are you meant to rotate Razorclaw's shoulder part up like this in cat mode?

It helps the shoulders clear his fat cat head and the pictures in the instructions /kind/ of look like they're positioned like this, but also rotating the shoulder parts bends the plastic on them slightly. Seems weird but I already did it.

Do any anons have experience with the clear plastic NA figures and stuff of the like? Do they feel relatively sturdy or are they like tiny hand grenades?
There's one I'm really tempted to get but I like fiddling with my tfs a lot so I'm worried I'll hamhand it into dust
>>
>>10883893
Two of my only NA figures are ghost starscream and a clear version of their shockwave, I've never had a problem with either of them, they use good quality plastic for their clear stuff.
>>
>>10883899
That's good to hear. Especially for ghost screamer since I was actually looking at the ehobby redeco, and it's slightly less than 100% clear. Still a little worrying for something so tiny.
>>
>>10883924
The only problem the transparent version of Starscream kind of has is that they removed the diecast from the feet so balances worse than the normal versions. Not that big of a deal though.
>>
>>10877362
DX9 is already making a legends Ginrai which I intend to get, however this one has a more games Optimus look that sets him apart from Ginrai.
Also I'm curious, how much did you payed? Because I seriously doubt the DX9 Ginrai will reach the prices that I'm seeing this one going for.

>>10877375
Uff, reminds me when I moved the combined Tarn cannon in the wrong way and a piece instantly broke with no effort, although that piece is very minor and you don't even notice it, but still.

>>10877484
It's precisely because of the blue version of that one being reissued that I'm questioning if they won't reissue it Optimus down the line.

>>10878077
Same here, but so far nothing. I really want their Optimus, but I'm afraid of paying a lot for it and then soon after IF reissues it for a fraction of the price I payed.
But then again I might not get it and it ends up selling everywhere or raise the price even more and IF never reissues it or launches a samurai version that I don't care or launches some weird color scheme like that weird Optimus Primal in Prime colors.

Honestly their Optimus and Megatron should be reissued several times, it's freaking Optimus and Megatron after all.
