Dolls haven't had the "it's for adults" make-over that Lego has. The women that buy the mini Disney castle are the target demographic and they will buy it. And do you honestly think that people who write gross fanfiction (women) think that Wicked being gross fanfiction is a bad thing?

That faggot on the design team is responsible for creating this behaviour, not only by making it so now this is the only source of unique minifigs rather than packs of several which you can see in order to fill out your builds and stories, but also for having it so that the minifigs aren’t divided on theme so that this behaviour will always happen more exaggeratedly as people only one a handful of minis per set
They really need to take Lego’s minifigure trademark away from them because the lack of competition is encouraging their greed

They still make good sets amidst all the junk, let’s not nostalgiafag too hard, but the last great one that was actually worth relative costs and really stood out in my opinion was the medieval market village, a castle set as good as the golden years in the 80s and 90s with cool details and plenty of variety, and the fact that Lego is making a new overpriced set based on it proves that it’s a classic and I’m correct
There’s probably great sets from after that in other themes though, and even the Kingdoms era of castle had some good stuff, probably the best sub theme of castle since the 90s even if it didn’t have the singular best set
>>
>>10870020
>cant even bother to make torches
i mean the banner could be used as a cool sail on a medieval flagship, but yeah that castle is low effort trash

Most of the old actual castles in the castle theme were like this, the best stuff was always the castles you made yourself using generic bricks, the best sets were for mini figures and smaller builds
>>

People who buy the "art" sets that are just inferior versions of prints they could buy at a fraction of the cost. I'm not averse to recreating famous works of art in lego but you should do it in a way that suits lego, like making The Night Watch or Bayard sur le pont du Garigliano using minifigures in an actual diorama type moc

Ransackers, Scalpers and Hoarders have laid waste to the boxed CMF. It is true. But it’s not enough. Because somewhere out there one always slips through. And this isn’t the last time they restock. Because of this, we must double our efforts. Remain vigilant. Let no Basil and no Goat get into the hands of normal people. Don’t just visit Target and Walmart. Go to JoAnn, Michael’s and Kroger. Find local third party lego stores. Mass. Mass. Mass.

I've had a lot of luck with finding the big print QR code boxes, and I'm totally okay with this compromise.

I found a near-full case, and of course the goats were scalped but I got everything else I wanted with just a QR scanner app on my phone. Arguably easier than fondling bags like some kind of weird manchild chud in the toy aisles.

I'd rather have the bags back 100%, but TLG doesn't backpedal on decisions like this, so I'm sure they're gone forever at this point.
>>
>>10869975
>small QR codes
Good riddance. This is the only way Lego will learn to stop fucking with consumers. You charge $5 for a single blindbag, people are going to do whatever it takes to get the figure they want.

Weight is also not a thing, don't bother with the scales, it doesn't work. It's been proven on multiple blogs that even the most sensitive expensive scales can't determine anything conclusively, there's too much variation and overlap with glue distribution and paper weights.

I modified the new Majisto GWP. Used bits and pieces from my spare parts (with I had more to work with). Gave him a pirate torso for details. Built a small bed above his treasure chest on second floor and added a torch. Put a table with potions on the second floor above his work station on first floor. I also built the chimney taller and wider and m9ved all the fireplace to one side by the treasure. Also made him new staff and added the ones that came with the set to the exterior for detail.

You're right in that most women think any kind of toy collecting is weird and cringe (uncommon exception being those awful female nerds who are basically gender swapped soiboys because they collect funkopops), it doesn't change the fact that trying to grandstand about it here makes you seem like even more of an insecure autistic faggot.

I think we’ve established they do. We even know that zombies can procreate with each other (Braindead) so it stands to reason they should be able to procreate with a healthy human. You’re just bitching because you know you will NEVER start a loving family with a cute zombie cheerleader.

Presumably the ovum would be infected by whatever pathogen or curse infected the mother so either the baby would come out zombified, your sperm and her egg would be incompatible, or the biological functions relative to when she was alive would've degraded or changed so much that pregnancy doesn't work anymore
Zombies aren't a different species, the different species trying to reproduce is the pathogen which reproduces through bites or whatever else it might spread through into a new host

Lego used to produce stuff like this, pic related are the minifigure packs, individual with accessories and multi-mini battlepacks from one subtheme of castle in the late 00s covering a 2ish year period. Apparently the same faggot who was responsible for the pride stuff , the pointless queer eye set, and possibly the new wicked theme, created CMFs and replaced the option of just buying packs of minifigures with gacha gambling, which is more profitable because it hacks people's brains like all gambling does because in every series some of the minis are cool but most are pretty mid and not everyone knows to scan so they sell more and more, and on the bricklink aftermarket, allows lego to make even more profit. I hope they lose their trademark on the minifigure at some point so that they actually have to appeal to consumers fairly rather than try to screw them over.

Difference of philosophy, particularly in the realm of agency. I have no obligation to manifest some company's conceptual pining for profit. For all the complaints about how modern lego sets, can we all agree that the true tragedy is with modern technic? Back in the 80s and 90s, technic sets used to have an open-design to show kids and teens how the moving mechanism worked. The relative simplicity of the build also encouraged kids to make their own moving mechanisms. Pic related was one of my absolute favorite sets as a kid that introduced me to basic mechanic principles.

Now, the designers try to slap as much plastic as possible to not only cover up the mechanism, but inflate the prices. The end-result of this philosophy are those $200-400 cars that look more like plastic model cars. I seriously don't understand modern technic-fans? Why not just buy even more realistic looking plastic models of whatever vehicle you want?
>>
>>10870750
Claas Xerion was lightning in a bottle in terms of price and features
Offroad Power is still the best Creator vehicle 14 years later
There are other sets I like but none that get close to standing next to those two.
>>10870758
While I'm still regularly impressed with what contemporary technic is able to accomplish, their retail products are so gimped of features they can barely be called technic sets. There are still hits like the new offroad buggy with tilt-steering, and the fire plane's propeller mechanism, but I definitely agree that the original philosophy of technic has been thoroughly forgotten. Take me back to an era of technic when "car chassis" was an entire set.

For me, the first place goes to none other than 10244 Fairground Mixer:
It is nothing short of amazing how the entire set can be collapsed and folded onto a single large truck to model a mobile carnival ride truck. The main ride works incredibly well manually and can be easily motorized, and if that wasn't enough, there are also smaller games like a dunk tank, high strike, and a juggler on stilts. The set comes with 12 fucking minifigs, all unique to this set, and at $150 was priced 8.6 cents per piece.

Not so sure about 2nd and 3rd places. Really depends if you're factoring price into the rankings or not. LKC is great, but I think the Barracuda Bay was better value at half its price, for example.
>>
>>10870717
They aren't entirely the same. Dragon Masters have a green dragon, the Black Knights use blue.
I don't think there's any official lore about it. My personal lore is that the Dragon Masters are former Black Knights who joined Majisto. They changed the color of their shields to represent the dragons they tamed.

Anyone here actually going to buy the bricklink sets? To me, the general store looks nice but is a little pricy, logging train is alright, and most of the 3rd group looks really good. Lost City might be looking to be one of my favorite sets ever, unless they jew up the price.
>>
>>10870797
Logging train looks cool, but not 300 dollars cool. I’ll probably pick up camping adventure if I’m in a position to buy when it goes on sale. I keep going back and forth between loving and loathing the lost city which probably means I’ll wind up buying it. Biggest disappointments for me are the ominous isle and the forest stronghold, with the forest stronghold being especially heartbreaking. Two huge sets for the forestmen from Bricklink and they’re both wet, stinky turds.

>Anyone here actually going to buy the bricklink sets?

I both voted for and ordered a copy if the Snack Shack.

Sadly, no Castle sets I've voted for have made the cut. No one wants to vote for mid sized sets, all juat giant bricks of a castle.

Haters are gonna hate, but I'm gonna order Ominous-Isle when series two comes around. It's a fun looking tropical pirate theme set, which I am lacking. UT has lots of fun play features and the modularity is neat. Looks like it would be addicting adding on to it too. If you really hate the hot dogs, there are some other pieces you could easily replace them with.

Series 3 I want to like the Forestmen set, but I just don't. It too big and too gray. No real play features except the string and the interior isn't fun looking

There are a number of sets I want in series 4, but the Western town and Imperial Trading Port are my biggest wants. Ironically, both are designed by the same guy.

It’s because you’re mired in the franchise consumerism that’s plagued our culture since gen x and is currently in the process of killing Lego turning it from what was once the best toy in the world into a series of collectors items only valued because of their association with other things not because of their play potential and so sit on shelves as ugly ornaments
That said, monkey kid and ninjago are pretty lame and are spiritually licenslop, but the franchise is a Lego original

>>10871103
>If you arent invested in the licebsed theme you will hate it later.
Why? It the set is fun and cool why wouldn’t I still like it in future, in fact the person who is invested in the franchise is more likely to hate it later when he associates it with some bad future instalment he doesn’t like.
>The it looks cool logic is bad longterm.
Why? This is why you should buy toys, because of their value and enjoyability as toys, if you’re buying it for franchise association then it’s probably going to turn into another pointless dust collecting shelf ornament if it’s not that cool as a toy. I have a rey’s speeder I got for cheap years ago, I don’t like the Star Wars sequels but I still like the set because it’s a cool little scifi vehicle with some cute play features (which afaik aren’t even in the movie) that I can use in other things, conversely, when I was a kid I got the helms deep set probably around the start of my dark age just because I liked lotr, and I still like lotr but the set is too large to keep out and so associated for me with a specific thing that I don’t really want it anymore and I’m going to sell it as soon as I track down all the parts

Yes, the best icons sets could all have been a part of existing or old themes like castle, city, and pirates (and the existence of icons is probably taking away from these being allowed to exist). Even most of the other stuff I don’t care for could fit in plants or architecture, so all that remains are one-off licensed sets which will basically all remain dust collectors for people who just bought it because they know what it is. As funny as it is for there to be an official George Costanza minifigure, I don’t think it’s worth all the other nonsense

It’s fair enough if you don’t find the ship appealing and therefore don’t want it. I don’t think it’s quite cool enough to buy it. I just think it’s strange to buy sets based on what you recognise rather than what would be fun to make up your own stories and play with

It’s nice but would’ve been hideously expensive, plus it has the same problem as the actual one in that it’s a bit too square in overall layout and doesn’t have those interesting angles as walls follow coastline in real caribbean forts, which was fine for the original set back in the day but with the level of cost and detail that the icons set or this moc go for, they need to reimagine the design a bit more into something different, like how the LKC relative to basically every other Lego castle before

Pretty sure it's because of the lack of fantasy media appropriate for kids demographics. They're following the same logic of other short-lived IP sets. Throw a few things at a wall, let people go ape shit for them, and then drop it.
Those Wizard of Oz figs in the Lego Movie 2 CMF line were the biggest sellers because so many normies wanted them. Same shit here, because every suburban mom fucking loves Wicked. It's lowest common denominator shit as per usual, same with making Disney sets that will sell no matter how stupid they look.

You can use pick a brick to make similar combinations, it’s more expensive but it’s not that much more expensive considering inflation, but I agree that the loss of these sucks, wish we had varied pack of minifigs for castle not just soldiers, like a pack of peasants, a pack of witches and wizards, a pack of knights, a pack of nobles
>>
>>10871404
I just did that you said, Pick-a-Bricked 40 men Black Falcon army + 20 additional Forestmen. I don't need more for now as I need to build proper fortifications for those I already have. I just wish for more factions, espieclly fantasy ones, building Dwarwen mines, Ork camps (with olive green-skins as in CMF) and undead necropolis/necromancer tower would be so kick ass.

It’s been a stage musical for 20 years based on a much beloved film that’s been around for 85 years based on what was once a popular book that’s been around for 124 years. I think it’s weird that it took them this long to make a movie though, I don’t like musicals but I have friends who do and after Hamilton came out wicked and other musicals seemed to get completely eclipsed for them.
>>
>>10871116

>>
>>10870616
It’s just so fucking boring. Sun Wukong and crew arrive in town, a new monster wants to eat the monk to become immortal or a girl monster wants to fuck the monk to become immortal. Repeat for three thousand pages, occasionally breaking things up with shitty little poems that read awful in English. The anticlimactic ending where they finally make it to the pureland and it’s full of assholes rather than being the paradise they expect it to be is amusing, but the rest of the book is such a slog.

>>10870623

>>10871410
That’s a lot more than I would advise or expect a person to use pick a brick for
It’s a shame about orcs not being an option now, and while dwarves you can probably manage by using beard pieces and short legs I can see why you wouldn’t find it satisfying
For undead I think you could do it though by using skeletons combined with other armour and weapon pieces, looking briefly on pick a brick a Skelton without extra gear should cost a little over a dollar per skeleton, with weapons and armour rising that to $2 or maybe $3 per minifigure depending on which gear you choose, unfortunately shields are pricy and there probably aren’t any that suit the undead

The new movie based on an Oz book? No it’s based on the musical that it shares a name with.
The musical based on an Oz book? Not really, it’s based on a revisionist novel about the wicked witch that was published in the nineties and takes a lot of the things it reinterprets more specifically from the 1939 movie because of how culturally impactful it was and is. Its technically based on an Oz book but in an extremely roundabout way, the book the musical is based on was written over 70 years after the death of the OG Oz author

I will make a watch tower and fort for them, basically making 3 in 1 castle larger and more detailed. There is going to be their army marching down the road, towards the Lion's Castle. 40 is not much when you see them irl, as they have different roles. I'm not yet autistic enough to build an army for them just to be stick to a baseplate in a organized manner.

108 Chinese guys who were shitty to begin with are forced into banditry through various shitty circumstances. The MC is a petty functionary who’s branded a dangerous rebel after getting drunk and shitposting on the wall of a crappy restaurant. The main villain is the country’s top bureaucrat, who got the job after impressing the king with his footie skills. The tone shifts wildly from vignette to vignette, one chapter will be zany slapstick (culminating in brutal murder) and the next will a dark tale of infidelity and revenge (culminating in brutal murder). One of the most lovable characters is a violent, semi-retarded child killer. Are you familiar with the JRPG series Suikoden? It was inspired by Water Margin.

No I’m in my 30s and I’ve lived in the United States for my whole life. My grandmother loved oz and so she had a bunch of the books and loved the original movie. As a child I found musicals frustrating and repetitive so I haven’t had too much of a problem tuning out that and other aspects of culture I don’t care for. I thought the books were incredibly creepy as a kid but I found her enthusiasm charming and she was a great narrator. I didn’t enjoy the books at the time but I was impressed by them. Really should reread them as an adult.

This movie/musical seems like a weird specific thing to make a theme of for Lego, I’d have thought a broader idea theme to start with would make more sense and even then idk how successful it would be

dnd is generic fantasy, nearly all the specifically iconic stuff is monsters, which are going to be brickbuilt anyway, the only reason this needs to have the dnd branding on it is to trick the drooling subhumans who watch critical role and vox machina into buying sets because they recognise the thing from the thing

Mattel Mega is close to end. Apparently they lose the Halo license and only pokemon keeps mega afloat.

Hasbro and Mattel are making hot wheels transformers and barbie monopoly. So its a matter of time until Mattel decides to crossover with lego like Hasbro did. Though Hasbro is far more desperate.
>>
>>10873007

So are they already done with lord of the rings then? Shame there were no new orcs I could hijack out of the license. Fully expect the dnd orcs to look like the ones in the 5e manual (gay)
>>
>>10873044
There is Barad Dur comin in June I think or July, it will have orcs

I think Lego decided for LotR to be under Icons and do one of those big sets once a year. Since the IP is for an older audience

This makes me curious, which will take the mantle as fantasy theme for 2025? A full Zelda theme or DnD? DnD still could be a case of one big D2C set and a cmf like Simpsons (though apparently there were a full line of sets planned at some point and then cancelled in favor of cmf, but not sure if thats true).

I could easily see that happening but lego has been violating their own arbitrary stance more and more as they get more licenses. I know for a fact they will eventually snap on gun molds for a license one day. For all intents and purposes they already have and do so in probably half of their lineup. But they are just pretending they haven't because there aren't that many gun molds that resemble any real world firearm classification invented after 1930. Even though they brick build them anyway and have for decades. And I'm 90% a castlefag so I'm not chomping at the bits looking for them, so much as I am Lego's mental gymnastic justification for selling out, so I can laugh at them.
>>10873048
Oh I thought that was cancelled for some reason. Glad I was wrong. Is that going to end up being $400 too? I'll probably miss out on that unless it comes with an actual orc and goblin army.

Just great. Finally we get a whole fantasy-themed CMF series, and it's a licensed one, meaning they're gonna be fucking fleshies. Well, at least most of them are some form of demi-human or vampire, meaning they'll have more wild skin colors, so it won't matter. I can only hope the the rest won't have those fucking necklines that LEGO deliberately puts on as many fleshies as they can. I KNOW they do that purely out of spite.

Though the complete lack of drow (including Drizzt who is THE face of D&D, no matter how much the commies at WotC do to try and bury him) is a crime.

The Wizard of Oz has been at the forefront of prepubescent lesbian love for over a 100 years, you fucking scarecrow.
Gays have called themselves “friends of Dorothy” since before the movie came out.
Ozma has been changing her gender and literally fucking smothering Dorothy in kisses as both a girl and a boy before the term tranny even existed.
