Why do i even check these generals? Now that todd is making good charecters hes also just cut production numbers. Is this a good charecter or figure? Idk, but i do want it. I want knightfall to stand over him curled in a fetal ball.
>>
>>10937340
Ever since that one anon pointed out that they just make a cut at the wrist and ankles, and then just add ball joints to them, I can't help but always notice the unnecessary long limbs. Why havent the designers figured this out yet?

Oh and seems the mattel guy is doing his no nipple thing here aswell.

As somebody interested in only a small handful of DC characters, this line kind of blows to collect. it seems like figures are either exclusives that I never get a shot at at retail prices, or they're tge opposite and end up on clearance. Maybe that's just because I'm into weird shit like Azrael, Captain Atom, and Frankenstein.

Throw the dogshit card holder out the garbage and give proper accesories. Also that starfires wrists look fucked
>>
DC Multiverse has to be one of the worst figure lines I have ever seen. McFarlane is a joke these days. Articulation sucks, the lack of paint sucks, proportions suck, pins suck, diapers suck, their general inaccuracy to source material sucks, the exclusives suck, the cards suck, these card stands suck, the lack of accessories sucks, the phigital faggotry sucks, the randomly packed variants suck, the overall lack of care or innovation as a line just flat out sucks. The only postive thing I can say about them is that sometimes the sculpting can be cool but that's less and less lately with how much they reuse that blue beetle mold.
>>
>>10937556
Been saying this since day one but you contrarian fucks kept lapping up every edgy Batman variant because "MUH UNIQUE SCUUULLLPTTTTT" despite those unique sculpts being objectivly fucking garbage utilizing shit designs and poop engineering. Luckily the ride is mostly easy to get off of now that he's only making boring under-designed characters and spandexers. Of what has supposedly been leaked I only need New 52 Cyborg Superman. And that is if its even real. Those images that leaked back quite awhile ago seemed to have too much paint for a real Todd figure and the latest relisting of it could just be more BS.

>>10938492
>They're SO lazy.
Todd doesn't pay people to do a good job and the suits at DISCO don't have any comprehension of some of the licensed marketing that goes with entertainment products. All they are familiar with is shit like pots and pans for their Food Network 'stars' - most of whom get to negotiate their own contracts on that crap separate from Discovery.

If someone from Forbes or Bloomberg Business Week ever walked them through what Disney makes on licensed toys or if the idiots at Cartoon Network ever took their thumbs out of their asses to explain this shit to their new overlords, Todd wouldn't haven't gotten his DC contract renewed last fall.
>>
>>10938499
There's simply no one else for DC to go to. Hasbro likely is not allowed to do DC by Disney/Marvel. Mattel destroyed the DCMV line before Todd got it. Spinmaster got the kids license, Todd got the older age group "collector" license. There was really no one else that could pump out as much product as he has.
>>
>>10938507
That's partially because DC gave up their own manufacturing, which was really just a design and product/line manager shop, plus the high end statues and stuff - which they still do - I just got peppered with three emails this week with more posters and baseball caps and sweatshirts.

You are right, at least for now, but that doesn't mean they couldn't exact more quality control from Todd. Or otherwise minimize the damage.

>>
>>10938692
I agree. When todd approved of Blue Beetle (ted kord) and he didnt have transparent lenses, i tapped out. I really wanted this line to deliver, but EVERY time, Todd disappointed. Azbat was shitty, paralax was shit, its fucking horrible. I think people just consoom. It has nothing to do with wanting to see an accurate figure of a comic character, its simply," i want a figure of a character made, even if it doesnt look like the character i claim to want to own a figure of, just make the figure..and call it the character from the comics i claim to like."
If Todd or his team see this. You guys suck.
>>
>>10937624
NTA and I own about 20 McFarlane figures although 6 are Super Powers and 3 are page punchers. I also still plan to finish the Starro BAF and I do think that some things have been good, but a lot of the stuff that people are pointing to here (and elsewhere) is very true and has nothing to do with 'sounding like a child' or 'experienc[ing] joy.'

>>10937690
>missing out...again
How can you miss out on something you didn't want?

The only MTS figure I 'missed out' on was something I was not even aware existed when it was released in 2018 or 2019 and it's one of the few things that has actually held it's value on the secondary market. Otherwise, anything I've wanted, I've either found for less than retail or paid no more than retail.

The few times I have ever ordered from MTS, I've regretted it. And do not plan to ever order from them directly again. They have truly awful customer service.
>>
>>10938537
It makes me think of all those Young Justice covers with Bart having huge ass feet and wearing those shoes that made him look like a variant of an ugly ass living funko pop. And the shoes/feet on these isn't even the second or third ugliest thing about them.

>>10938552
I was looking at the line art Jim Lee drawing version of Super Bro which DC Direct turned into a limited figure, which I only knew about from seeing it on a website then saw in an auction for eBay. It looked good so I bid on it but dropped out when we got above $16 (seller was foolish offering free shipping, though it did sell for an absurd $30+ finally).

So I get the idea, but this execution does suck ass. You need a sculpt that can work with something as simple as Black and White.

When you see some of those textless variant covers that are just the pen and ink art, it's the same thing. Good artwork still looks great without the color - shitty artwork looks worse without the color. Some of these MTS sculpts are just shitting art.

>>10938557
At least wait until some speculator is stuck with them and sells them off at a $0.99 auction and the bidding never goes above $10.

>>

>>10937623
If you have 2 toy shelves and one of them has "edgy batman variants" as you put it, and the other has standard MLs, the DC shelf will look more aesthetically sophisticated and elaborate. It's a net negative on Hasbro's part that they haven't diversified their designs as much as DC Multiverse have over the years.
Multiverse figures in general appear like they're more expensive toys than their competition despite being cheaper.

From a local Big Lot's/Dollar Tree type competitor in the western states tonight.

They normally only carry shit like the Titans hero series and Spin Master for the DC. They weren't even allowed to carry funkos until recently, which shows how soft (AND BAD) the toy market has become in the past year FOR EVERYONE, which is another reason why Todd and his team that doesn't care shouldn't be allowed to tank things more than they are just by the nature of the economy.
>>
>>10939028
Those are all old figures from before he cut production drastically. They have to filter out to somewhere. Don't worry, now that Todd is making his figures scarce, you won't have to worry about your discount store aisles being clogged with mcfarlanes
>>
Mcfarlane tried to use the dc money to pivot back into statues but it didn't work, most are already on discount. Now we have to pay for it with reused molds
>>
>>10939043

It wasnt the one and only thing, it was the final straw. Azbats not being colored correctly, paralax not being based off any artwork, superman being way too bulky. Ugly headsculpt after ugly headsculpt..
The transparent lenses are a great look for BB, and to not have it, is just another example of laziness. Its tiresome.
If the CEO is perplexed why details in a collector figure would matter then it makes total sense that the figures are shitty looking, because that ceo doesnt have a clue what makes a cool toy.

40k is a very different animal from DC. Sure there are unique characters but most people only want figures from the specific faction they play, and even they they already spend hundreds of dollars for an army and enjoy painting them so having a seven inch poorly painted version isn't going to hold much appeal. The DC line relies on fans collecting versions of the characters they don't already have but 40k isn't about that, even as a Black Templars player I wouldn't be interested in a High Marshall Helbrecht figure I'd just buy a fancy mini and have fun painting him to be my own chapter master.
I also have an Adeptus Astartes army but Todd's version looks so fucking awful and underpainted that I'll never buy it. The JoyToy ones are a little better, but it's the same issue of "I already spent a thousand dollars on an army, why would I want something I can't use and looks awful?"
A lot of people in this general get excited over toys that look like absolute ass, and I get it, they probably don't paint or have any creative abilities so they're used to having to settle for whatever comes out of the box. 40k players are going to be comparing the toys to their own minis and Todd's paint jobs are fucking abysmal.
>>
Got my Kilowog and Kyle set today. I've never bought one of the megafigs before so I didn't realize just how big Kilowog would be. Hefty mothefucker, makes me wanna woosh him around.
>>
>>10939576
I bought zsasz because hes one of my favorite batman villains but i agree the figure is FAR from perfect
>>
>>10939598
No matter how underpainted they are, if 40k didn't sell at $20, Todd would not have kept the license and continued producing them. Stop trying to justify people giving in to Todd's price gouging and not voting with their wallets on the DC front.

Todd has even said in his interviews that they go by the sales when making decisions and people don't have to send them messages on social media or during the town halls because they vote with their wallet when they buy or don't buy a figure.

If Card Stand Edition had bombed, it either would've gone to $25 or they'd just continue making normal figures at 22.99 and it wouldn't exist.
>>
>>10939609
Ah, you live in some delusional fantasy world where people display the cards with the figures and don't just resign themselves to paying the extra five to ten bucks for the figure. This conversation is over.
>>
>>10939611

Superman’s villains are best when they’re a dark reflection of him and a Brainiac design that evokes an alien trying to appear human is brilliant.
Every once in a while Todd does something cool. Hopefully no one else cares and it’ll go for cheap on ebay or Todd will run a sale like he did with all those Shrek Superman figures everyone returned.

That bottom row is all McFarts, just not DC. They are actually selling for higher than that DCMV in the holy 7" size, with the holier 22 POA. They had Disney toys that apparently Todd sucked someone off for the license and all those MHA figures.

Another store I went today while I was in a different part of the county was filthy with the Dungeon and Dragons as clearance remaindered for $3.99, an entire top row of one aisle, and the other aisles had plenty of those Disney's, MHAs, and plenty of The Witchers from Todd's company.

And these are all 2023 figures, so yeah, if you want to call that old, be my guest. Make sure Todd at least gives you some change for a cab after he rides your hard and throws you back out on the curb.

It's because design sensibilities and product demand have evolved since then, and McFarlane is late in evolving their products. Even now, though their products are quite solid and are at least usually fun enough to handle, are still behind in a way with their general products starting off as static models, then having joints cut into the sculpt rather than incorporated into it, for example. And we see this divide between the statues, the limited articulation 6" figures, and the 'super articulated' 7" figures, there's a lot of conflicting design choices being made across their lines.
>>

not sure if you ever look at toys but everyone does this. recent legends have some egregiously terrible examples.

That's only because McFarlane went the mass manufacturing route, so now they're handling one of the biggest properties in the world.
So their factory isn't able to produce what they used to, since it's all geared up to produce childrens action figures and not collector stuff.

Plus, most of their imitators have shrunk or are gone. Revoltech used to handle a variety of licenses and now it's just a single sculptor line, with a few oddball stuff. Toy Biz no longer exists. Various other lines/companies also no longer exists either.
The toy market has changed significantly in the past 20 years and there aren't as many medium sized companies anymore. Only the largest survived and small indie companies keep popping in and out.
>>
>>10940759
>Only the largest survived
The only reason mcfarlane Toys exists is because Jim Lee giving the license to Todd out of loyalty. Funny how the anti establishment faggots of the 90s now run everything.
>>
>>10940761
imagine actually believing this. you're sick in the head.
>>
>>10940761
Jim Lee has as much say in who gets the toy license as he does as what the DC movies are about. He's just a publisher for the publishing side of a giant conglomerate and maybe even WB had no say in who the toy license went to, since ATT has been so handsie since they took over.

McFarlane was able to afford the DC license thanks to Five Nights at Freddys money. They cashed in big time, hence a flurry of license purchases from Call of Duty to Game of Thrones to Fortnite. They lucked out that they still had a ton of money left over when WB kicked Mattel to the curb.

Also, Image wasn't anti-establishment. The founders just wanted a bigger part of the profits from what they were creating. They had no problem kicking each other off their own company and keeping other creators out. Image didn't become indie safe until years after Jim Lee sold out to DC.
>>

considering fnaf was a literal-who dogshit game, the creators/publisher only got into licensing after they could afford business people who knew how to license shit. So McFarlane got it after it became popular.

That said, licensing isn't always super expensive. Go look at how many times the Fortnite or Street Fighter license has been passed around like a dirty slut, sometimes by literal-whos.
Licenses basically only become expensive if they're revenue proven or the license has movie tie-ins for those cross promotions. Also, it depends on what you actually license. Children action figures? $$$. Role playing masks? $$. Collector toys? $. Non-LEGO brand legos? $. Plastic chopsticks? ¢.

>>>10940850 some guy in a magazine said he did became famous that way
LOL, you have no idea what it's like to even be in a small city.
Shit, i went to small private school with more than a couple of people who became famous and my class had less than a hundred students. I was only acquainted with only 2/3rds of them and not even half of those would i hang out with outside of school. And my inner circle of friends was maybe a dozen.
Now blow that up to 1000x in population and 10,000x in area. so the chances of meeting someone in a city that has famous people is so rare... PLUS make friends with them? i'd probably sooner win the lottery.

Hell, i lived 7 houses away from a musician and his daughter became a meme actress. If i ever met any of them, i sure as fuck never recognized them in my local grocery store or walking around. And I only found out the daughter becoming big because my sister saw a photo of the actress standing with her dad by my parents house.

But please, move to CA and become one of the hundreds of thousands of homeless bums living in the streets, or if you're a girl, another of the hundreds of thousands cum dumpsters for the dying porn industry. No doubt, the highlight of your life would be guest starring in Unwashed Hobos Fuck Dirty Sluts Part 183

Lot of words to say you're a faggot bro

you retards are arguing how todd got the license but we all know the fucking truth. TODD HAS JIMS KIDS HELD HOSTAGE!!! HELP!
>>
>>10940927
If that is the case, Jim should just challenge Todd to a duel.
>>
>>10940927
I've heard Todd leaves the toys in rows outside the cage, just out of reach.
>>
What is the best Batman toy ever made?
>>
Zsasz not selling out while collector edition figures do tells Todd you prefer expensive figures that seem 'premium ' and that you really like the card stands: his analytics prove it!

I never understood the appeal of glow in the dark or blacklight figures
>>
>>10941186
What's hard to understand? It's the closest you can get to real-life "special effects." Glowing lightsabers and junk makes your toys feel more like the source material.
>>
>>10941242
Lightsabers work better if you have electronics.
>>
>>10941246
It's a pain in the ass to keep replacing tiny batteries (and they aren't cheap either). Paint your lightsaber with blacklight reactive paint, and it will glow forever off a light that will run off USB-C.

Probably mafex hush black version

The crazy thing is that this figure is actually quite an activate rendition of Zsasz from the knightfall comic, but for the card they decided to just use a random image that looks nothing like this hyper-specific version of the character.

Found a Direct Big Barda at a swap meet for a few bucks. I'm glad I did, I always wanted her. She's purdy. And she has big booba. It'd be nice to get a modern Megafig with more articulation, but I don't think with Mcfarlane's female face sculpts she'd turn out as nice.

Probably no good panel that works for card art. Like that has word bubbles and a panel line behind his head so it wouldn't work.

what the fuck is wrong with your digestive system

She looks great, don't know about articulation but the sculpt and the painting are top tier.

Even before the merger with AT&T, Warner's Brothers had a VP who oversaw all their licensing, but DC Entertainment (which is what used to be DC including the films, the licensing rights that allowed the DCW Berlanti shows to exist, and stuff like iZombie and Gotham, Lucifer, etc., plus the Batman sheets, and Superman plushies, and WW coffee mugs, etc., was all handled by DC Entertainment). After it became Warner Media, AT&T took some of that stuff from DC (and everyone else, like Cartoon Network, or TNT/TBS March Madness merch, etc.) and put it all under WB Consumer Products.

That's who decided to fire all the rest of the DC Direct people even before the DISCO joint venture. And she's the one who signed off on the contract to Todd.

Jim Lee is supposed to be making recommendations about stuff to license and is supposed to pitch shit and make suggestions when someone comes around and wants to license DC for a movie, merchandise, tv show, etc., but he's not really doing that and is pretty passive for a suit.

This is why you didn't see any influx of Wildstorm stuff, even shit that would line his own pockets. When Johns had the same position, he was constantly pushing people to adapt his own comic book shit, and adapt his own characters, and pushing studios and tv production houses to hire his butt buddies and all sorts of other nonsense. He also got himself better hair plugs and put a new, very expensive roof on his house, if that tells you anything. Even if he did also help tank DC Films.
