The first game wasn't some masterpiece or anything, but the ending at least was meant to give you something to think about. Joel lost his daughter, and wanted nothing to do with Ellie at first, but she becomes his surrogate daughter and she's pretty much the only thing he has left as he loses almost everything else along the way, and then lies to her at the end of it all. So I guess you can kinda sorta see the moral quandary that they're going for.As for the whole "Man is the real monster" its such a hackneyed trope, and the center of literally every single zombie, or zombie-adjacent story. The Zombies are always just there as a vehicle to force more conflict between the survivors, and this game was dropped right in the middle of the Walking Dead craze. The only thing TLoU had over anything else was simply that the zombies were literal mushroom people.Trying to pit new characters against the heroes of the previous game that a lot of people really liked is just a weird strategy. But the worst part of the second game is that stomach-turning sex scene where Abby gets assfucked on screen and her floppy little pancake tits flap around while its all going on. One of the most vile things I have seen in a video game.
