Terrible.
The mag is missing, the power fist fingers look ugly, the helmet is too big and protrudes out too much, the pauldrons are too small and don't go up high enough, the overall proportions look funky (funkoer than normal, and definitely not in line with the 10th edition proportions), and the skirt plates are in a fixed extension peg??

They're on display, but no-one has really commented on it beyond:
My dad who thinks the little space guys look cool
My cleaner who saw them and told me she painted the leviathan box with her husband and wanted to know where I got them from, they bought some nids subsequently.

>My cleaner who saw them and told me she painted the leviathan box with her husband and wanted to know where I got them from, they bought some nids subsequently.
That's pretty based.
Side note, how are the Orks? I know they didn't do too hot, but they look pretty cool and I really like Kommandos (actually got some of the old metals in the post today).

For how much longer do we have to suffer from the shortage of firstborn techmarines and apothecaries? The only techs we got so far are primaris, same goes for the recently released single apothecary.
>>

We don't even have standard Firstborn Tactical or Devastator marines so probably forever.

The mismatch between the red on the pauldrons and the rest of the body triggers my autism every time I look at him, and it seems they've done the same with Amon and Librarian Consul. If these chinks didn't skimp and used the same deep ruby red on the entire sculpt I'd actually buy the tactical squad. Overall this is the most low effort JT release so far which is a shame because TSons are my favourite HH legion. At least Magnus and the Contemptor are alright.
>>
the mismatched reds are to prevent paint chipping on jointed areas. candy coats do not hold up well to this kind of thing, and add a lot of thickness that will fuck with joint tolerances. the shoulder pauldrons are mostly out of the way of other pieces and don't interact with anything jointwise, i suspect that is why they got the candy paint. i would rather have the glittery red that i can handle vs. a toy that will flake if i bend the knee
>>
I think it would be nice for JT to do a refresh on Imperial Fists and Sons of Horus since it's been a while since we have seen any with all the new HH stuff being announced. I'd like some MkIII SoH tactical marines along with Horus Aximand, and some MkVI IF tactical marines with Evander Garrius.

>>
>>11217208
After browsing the GW website for inspiration I think that this would also be the perfect opportunity to get some more heavy weapons into the line. The IF MkVI marine could be based off of this guy with the heavy bolter or missile launcher, and the MkIII SoH marines could introduce infantry sized plasmaguns, meltaguns, and/or volkite weapons.
>>
>>11217037
What? Joints aren't even painted, they're just plastic black.
>>
>>11217365
sorry, I wasn't quite clear there. i'm not really talking about the black joint parts themselves, but rather places where the sculpt rubs against each other DUE to having movable joints. This applies to anywhere where the plastic regularly touches, like under the ab crunch, the belt to waist, crotch to thighs, ankle guards to feet, feet to toes, etc. all of these are points where repeated friction will cause the paint to start flaking or cracking.
>>
I hate Varagyr. I hate that I want to love them, but I can't bring myself to. I hate their dumb little heads, I hate their dumb squiggly beards, because they apparently warrant the removal of half of fucking torso armour.
Even helmets wouldn't save these dumbfucks. Not like these dogs of Russ would benefit from head protection anyway. And they are all carbon copies of each other. There is basically zero armour/decoration variation between them, save for some little craft&arts groin trinkets. Nobody even wants them, they are the cheapest termies by far in places I shop.
Worst elite FW terminators by a country mile, still remain as worst even in a different medium.

>>
>>11218323
It's less Primaris' fault than it is the move to truescale and digital sculpting. Whoever is sculpting now, they just can't match the primordial energy of a chunky Jes Goodwin physical sculpt. Everything is too clean now and has no style.

>>

>>11217551
These are neat and are properly gold looking.
Also, does that mean they WON'T match the Joytoy figure? OR will the final product end up looking like shit just to fit in?

Is using proper gold paints really difficult to do or jsut too expensive for $150 figures?
>>
>>11218413
They can't even afford to make the heads the right size so obviously they can't afford decent paint kek
>>
>>11218411
Yeah, minis used to have very different poses. And so much variation aesthetically too! 40K used to feel so punk rock and freewheeling, like there were no limits to what you might find. The franchise also had a ton of goofy tongue-in-cheek humor at this time, poking fun at itself or general sci-fi tropes.

Now everything is so nailed-down and established, and you have nerds who will argue about the accuracy of rivets on the near-identical looking minis. It's become so boring to me. I still buy the figures because they aesthetically remind me of the franchise I loved, but it's not the same anymore. It's gone from feeling like an infinite sandbox, to a small room with a cup of sand in the corner. I guess that's what happens when you get big and make a ton of money.
>>
>>11216908
same, guess he was doing wizard shit for all of october
>>
>>11217710
I don't have a horse in this race, but if you look at the image you posted, those heads don't nearly have enough clearance to actually rotate at all. They're colliding with the frame around them and are connected directly to it in many places. I don't think you could have them this size on an action figure, they'd be completely immobile.
>>
>>11218645
The problem with your logic is that you believe that no other part can be changed/fixed, only the heads. The GW ones are like that because they never had to consider range of motion, they're static. This means JoyToy should have accordingly made the head cavity bigger to compensate. It's not like the figures are proportionally accurate as-is, so why not just have them be inaccurate in a different (but better looking) way?
>>
>>11218652
>The problem with your logic
I mean, I'm just looking at the photo you posted, and noting that the heads aren't designed to be fully sculpted or mobile. After looking at pictures of the joytoy sekhmets, I don't think the head stands out as too small for it to look okay. Terminator armor is big relative to the man inside it, and these helmets aren't like the massive 40k ones. Doesn't really bother me, but you're right that it's small.
>>
>>11218672
Using your pic as an example, JT has made a decently faithful reproduction without sacrificing either the scale or range of motion.
>>
>>11218735
Yeah, that's because the source material (the miniature) is actually sculpted in a way that makes sense, and isn't just done because it looks cool. Like other anon said, old sculpts weren't designed with movement in mind. 10th ed terminators may not have either, but they were designed in a way that makes more sense than their predecessors.

>>11218228
His retarded ass bullpup bolter that the barrel and mag don't even line up with each other? Yeah SO cool! Fucking GW, just refuses to understand how guns work! Combi weapons should stick to two guns taped together, rather than stacked.
>>
>>11218794
See >>11218484, which I also wrote. I really don't care if the weapons make sense. I never even looked at that shit. You are exactly one of those "rivet complaining" people I cited, I yearn for the days where nothing had to make sense and silly shit was poppin off all the time. It was loose, free-form sci-fi governed entirely by rule of cool, and 40K is anything but that nowadays.

tl;dr: it's stodgy people like you that made 40K boring. You had to have a logical explanation for everything and try to drag 40K into the dull-ass real world.

I'm not trying to post something pretty for you to nut over, I'm trying to demonstrate the difference in how models were made back then to now. There is a lot more personality and nuanced posing and unorthodox shit that the sculptor just made up with no approval. And while I grant these are not going to be everyone's cup of tea, they will always be more interesting to me than anything that came afterwards. Each to their own, I personally feel that early Rogue Trader era Warhammer is too silly and haphazard, as authors were just randomly shooting breeze and shit. Starting with 3rd edition 1998-2014s era 40k was peak for me, just a right blend of serious and fun. I think it's the period where the setting actually forged an identity for itself.
But it eventually fell for the blandification of a corporate era.

I also disagree with you blaming the little guy. It just never sits right with me. We are just a grey mass of nobodies, we are nothing. We do not hold responsibility for the decisions of authors or companies.
>>
>>11219466
I like the Rogue Trader era because it felt more open, more like other pen and paper RPGs that were popular at the time (like RIFTS). Modern 40K has the same problem modern Star Wars has--in the original movies, Lucas was just pulling shit out of his ass that seemed cool to him, so he could offhandedly mention some shit like "the kessel run" and not explain anything more about it. It was just a random worldbuilding odd and end. But now we have an entire fucking movie about it, and people obsessing over every tiny detail and inconsistency. That kind of thing bores the shit out of me. And I'm not trying to blame the fans really, if anything I'm more just frustrated that so many of them fall for it. I know it's GW's fault in the end.

But I do agree with you too, 3rd Edition was still pretty nice. I have good memories of that stuff.

I was just wondering how they were even planning on selling him since he's basically the size of an accessory. It would have made more sense to sell it as a 3 pack for like $20 or just include one along with each termagant. Nearly $20 each makes no sense.
>>
It also looks like they are doing a reissue of the Blood Angels Furioso dreadnought to be coming out in January. Also some of the Salamanders in gravis armor are getting reissued at the same time? Seems like a weird choice. I wonder if anything else noteworthy is getting reissued.

Damn, I'm excited! Those ripper prices though!
At first I sort of did want a spike rifle, but having time to play with my termagant, I was right in my fear that the rifle weapons wouldn't translate the best as figures. YEah, it's a load of horseshit.

Joytoy has already changed the proportions of the figures from the HW models, and they've even changed the proportions of their own figures from one year to the next, so sometimes they don't even look like they're from the same line. Nevermind the scale has changed too.
There's no excuse why they couldn't have made better sculpts to fit the engineering.

???
I didn't imply anything of the sort you're green texting.

I'm saying that Joytoy has complete control over givnig their figures better mobility. People blaming Games Workshop are retarded, because Joytoy has shown they're not following their models at all. They've elongated the proportions since their very first space marine. Their arms and legs are clearly longer than any models, which improves their poseability and ability to hold items. Their torsos are also longer. Nevermind the later figures changed the porportions even more to increase range of motion, so they obviously don't care about keeping things in scale nor even in the same style, since they started making the normal humans fatter.

So why not give them a milimeter or two of space/length/girth more to give them more head space?
>>
>Joytoy has shown they're not following their models at all
Kek what a fucking retard
>>
>>11221166
Honestly for me it's mostly the accessory count, like yes girlyman does feel like an obvious 1.0 compared to every other primarch but his lack of accessories is what really gets to me when comparing him although I'm not really sure what else they could have given him. I do wonder if they'll eventually make a heresy girlyman and lion though as a way to improve him and make him more in line with the rest of the primarchs.
>>
>>11221896
Horus barely has any accessories too
>>
>>11221964

30k guilliman would get a cape and scabbard more, but lose the mounted bolter, downgrade his sword, and not have an included/official helmeted head. Power fist could be articulated, or it could swap between open and closed like the 40k version. He also has a holtered pistol on his back waist, and considering they've given every primarch every weapon depicted on them, then he'd have a pistol over his 40k version. Seems kinda similar, all things considered (downgrades sword, loses helmet, gains cape, swaps mounted gun for holstered pistol), he'd have to have articulated fingers in the power fist in order to put him on the radar, in my opinion (but to be fair, I like his 40k look much more than his 30k).
30k lion gets an extra dagger, and his pistol would now be functional, AND has an official helmet, so he wouldn't be lacking there! Though, compared to his 40k counterpart, he'll come out lacking (loses 2 alt heads [hooded helm and hooded unhelmed], swaps mace [carried by little guy] for knife, loses shield, scabbard, and two little guys, gains pistol). Presumably.
Again, though, I find his 40k appearance superior, as it is much more distinct, rather than 'slightly more ornamental power armor, with robes'.

My guess is that they'll do them two last, to give them appropriate space between their 40k versions (I don't think daemon/40k versions of primarchs would need this much space, as they are a lot more distinct than a change of armor).

Nah I reckon Guilliman's 30k appearance is way cooler and more in character. The more Roman style armour would match guys like Ventanus, rather than leave him looking like a rubric marine.
>>
>>11222520
I doubt they'll get much more than a wash. They generally follow GW's official paint schemes, and the GW fellas here are very minimally weathered.

>>11222528
Yeah, rubrics are cool but I don't like it on Gilly. There's too much of it and it's very visually busy.
>>
Why did GW make the nu-MkIII helmets look so similar to the Death Guard specific MkVI helmets? Are they stupid? I'm glad that the Joytoy releases so far have used the classic MkIII look at least
>>
>>11222562

Yeah
>>
>>11222552
Yeah that's the most likely way they'd do it. As for following official models, >>11222520 are official too and with MkIII we've seen Joytoy will do older styles.

>>11222562
The spike on the helm has been a part of older marks on and off for almost as long as we've had them. There's a bunch of art with the helmet spike in it. The dead guard signature is more the pipes and the grille extended to look like a skull
>>
>>11217551
Since everything about the helmet is the same except for the face, they should have just made the "faces" swappable plates. Up the price abit, but don't make people pay multiple times for something that is 80% the same.

As it is, not sure which one I'd go with. Probably middle.

Joytoy Ultramarine tactical MkVI set gives me some slight hope.
They have heads from MkVI upgrade sprue. Though, they opted to ignore unique shoulder pads.
Your pic looks like mix of nuMkIII and nuMkVI stuff. So if they ever do MkVI Blood Angels set, there is a chance, but no hope for MkIIIs, unless they relaunch this line-up with updated GW minis. They (JT) are weirdly anal about following official GW material down to a T.

>>
>>11224948
I'd surprised if it was daemon prince angron, he's almost the size of a knight isn't he, and they've been having serious problems getting those to market. Probably just 30k version.
>>
>>11224948
>>11224946
technically this is 40k world eaters, so if he's based on this line specifically I'd say daemon
they could double dip and give us 30k WE and primarch Angron as well, but we haven't seen any evidence for that since all of the primarchs we have that are alive in both eras are only based on one, with 30k Magnus and 40k Robute and Lion

Yeah but you got remember Angron turned in Daemon Prince mid-Horus Heresy so even those wasn't 40k WE there is still reasons to make his daemon form.

But like >>11224949 size is a problem, I can't see them doing such a massive Primarch right now

Shit, the releases are piling up for the 11/11 sale - all the new Blood Angels, the new Tyranids, the gladiators and now this immense horde of berzerkers. Something's got to give.

To be fair, they did start the line with two 4 packs of nearly identical Phobos Marines (heads, guns, backpack ornament, side pouches/knives, and pauldrons print were the only differences, with comms guy getting his wrist computer extra, and one incursor getting a mine). Doing multiple figures that are very similar is pretty routine for joytoy. That being said, yeah, the whole 10 squad is pretty weird.

Pretty much everything joytoy does is based on GW miniatures, right? So why would it matter that in the books he's bigger?
And based on those miniatures it looks like he's about twice as big as bob; so honestly no biggie. They've released stuff that size before. And if that's slightly too big they could just slightly cheat by making him marginally smaller. Especially since these dudes apparently be as big as they 'want to'.

It...hasn't though? It's still virtually the same, $50-60 for new molds or complex ones with a lot of detail paint, $30-40 for reused molds or waves where they can instantly reuse the mold 5-6 times. This has been fairly consistent since the line started.

>Old-termies cost half of what the new ones do.
This is also not true. The old Termie mold was I believe introduced with the BA Assault Termies, which launched around $60 apiece. Subsequent waves got cheaper, just like the Leviathan Termie mold did. Now you can get both old and new Termies for around $40-ish during sales (and in fact, at the moment the new Terminators are actually a bit cheaper than the old ones).

WTF, how do y'all get such good discounts!? It won't let me stack coupons anymore, so what gives? Explain your methods like I'm retarded, because I seem to be.
>>
>>11232716
Look around their shop for a 30 dollars off 100 coupon and see if it transfers onto sangui. That combined with the 12 off 11/11 coupon brought him that low for me. Seems like I'm general shop1102 and so on and so on is offering some of the best deals right now

I got Remus Ventanus for $32 and to my surprise he has already shipped

Yeah I wish they were as ornate as earlier BA termies but the new ones mog them hard in design and proportions.

Hard disagree from me, I much prefer the old genocidal zealot walking panzers.
>>

Got myself a SW Praetor and Remus for around 28 each.
Yeah they are my new go to for Joytoy now. They have better sales and discount coupons compared to stores. Flyima and Jtoy was really good when it came to savings but not anymore.

I especially appreciate his face that is frozen in turd moving expression
must be some good shit

It really fits him too, always pictured him as an astartes equivalent to highschool jock bully. He really comes out as a sweaty try hard in books. So JT nailed his character here.

Magnus has arrived or whatever. I feel nothing anymore. I wish I could die but I'm too much of a coward to do it myself.
>>
>>11234628
Dying early is overrated. Do you really want to miss out on all these releases?
>>
>>11234628
I too, would feel nothing if I bought the biggest bitch of 40k.

Also I hope the rumours are true and that the next loyal Primarch is Leman Russ. I want a 40k Leman with a helmet.
>>
>>11234945
Magnus did nothing wrong. Death to furry faggots.
>>
>>11234539
Are his arms removable? I remember the old Abaddon funny haha of his model's arms always falling off.
>>
>>11235106
he did everything wrong. He literally talks about why X is wrong, bad abd dangerous for hours only to do X himself and not noticing it or just be like yeah it's okay because I'm so special while being a weak bitch.
>>
>>11234945
>>11235106

Magnus did nothing wrong, in that he was supposed to do nothing and did it wrong. That being said, the Fenrisian Knotty Nellies deserve the rope.

>>
>>11235225
Everything Magnus did he did for right and justified reasons. Russ was a retarded savage and a hypocrite who did everything wrong for the wrong reasons. Ironic how his legion went from "loyalist world eaters" to an actual good and honorable legion once Russ was gone.

I'm betting he's this guy >>11230788 who got pissy that CTC was being discussed since they're making/selling third party accessories for the figures
No idea why tho
>>
>>11236780
haha he's probably mad at them over something autistic and stupid
CTC is fine. cool even, for making helmets and stuff for the primarchs

speaking of CTC, did you guys see those rad Black Templar shoulders they're releasing?
Honestly it's the type of this Joytoy should be doing to diversify their marines, but I'm glad someone is doing it.
Magnus helmet still a shit tho.
>>
>>11237735
I wish they did custom pauldrons for the HH figures. The ones we have are pretty bland. It's been forever since they even made a BT so it's pretty out of nowhere to me.

Gonna pick up some Termies before 11.11 sale is done, quick question

The auto-cannon this guy comes with isn't removable is it? Looks like the cable that connects it to his arm is glued in.

>>
>>11238434
Funny that they gave him an alternate hand for that arm then. I think I'll buy him and just pry the cable out of the socket on his arm. That way I can give him a stormbolter from my other Termy if I want.
>>
>>11238278
Though it's glued in, you should be able to pop it out, easy. If you customize shit like I do, then it will be an easy matter. Speaking of...

I got my hellblaster in, and I modded both his and my IF gravis marine's backs to be able to swap the power pack thingy on the heavy plasma incinerator. I wish the hellblaster's hands weren't so hard/stuff, though...

Don't feel great about big purchases, but here's my last-second trigger pull for the Ali-sale.

Now I have to buy helmets for Russ and Sangy too. There's some rumours that Russ might be returning to 40k next year as well...

fugggg, should have gone for pic rel Deathsworn, he looks so much better. I've got one with fur on shoulders.
>>
>>11239051
What's wrong with the one with fur on his shoulders? Either that one or the squad leader probably would have been my second choice

It's janky looking, plus my version had them glued slightly off, so they're covering chest embellishments way too much and limit head movement. Small scraps of fur also look a bit silly on shoulder pads, especially when you have them in upward motion
I feel like ropes on chest with arts&crafts look more interesting, plus they do not hide their wolf "aquila". And diaper fur covers the gap around hip joints nicely, while also retaining that unique SW look.
I also prefer more matching knees, as another fucking wolf skull is way too overboard, considering helmet and powerpack. And axe with small wolf tail talisman looks more cute.
Overall, it's more balanced look. I realized it too late. Call it buyer's remorse.

Also, there is Blood Angel's drops for Heresy, and it's fucking amazing.

Think I'd have preferred Zephon over Raldoron desu.
>>
>>11239697
Absolutely, would've been cool if raldoron came with the severed daemon arm from his display base though. I really hope if and when they do do Zephon, they don't cuck out and make his volkite pistols stuck in their holsters like they did the lion's pistol.

I think I'll just get one of the dawnbreaker guys, the poles on their power spears look way too thick though.

Remus arrived and he looks great. Probably the best looking ultramarine so far. His flag sucks ass. Top part snapped and the mid hole for the pole has excess plastic so you can’t even push it in.
>>
>>11239859
Just trim the excess plastic, ez.
The top snapping is probably cuz it's so damn heavy, with a tiny connection point. Looks like it could still work as a banner, though?

I'm kind of concerned that they might not give him a helmet which would be heresy considering how iconic Night Lords helmets are.
>>
Why do they insist on not giving named characters helmets anyway
Wouldn't be surprised if they're in league with CTC and do it on purpose to make the goyim pay twice
