AY will probably keep doing symbiotes because they sell, and probably doing MJ Carnage next. But is Knull a high possibility? He's a classic high fantasy bad guy design that would have a decent amount of appeal. The kind of character AY doesn't have yet.

But that seems like a rare occurrence. I think all the exclusive parts have been good about not being a necessity. Hayabusa already has a sword, katana is a katana for example. Except for maybe two, both similar accessories, DP 2.5's half unmasked head and Gwenom's half unmasked face. Because they're unique compared to the rest of their accessories (hence exclusive because they use different paints) and add lots of play value to the figures. They're handy for many different scenarios compared to spinning hands or hammer. An extra expression among a few existing expressions isn't a huge loss. You can grab another katana for Ryu fairly easily.

Sentinel is another name involved in Vulcanlog btw kek. Basically, Union Creative made their own action figure brand, but used mostly Kaiyodo sculptors (some from Sentinel), and their Revolver Joints. This was a time when Kaiyodo stopped making Revoltechs more or less. They made Revol-Mini which were smaller obviously and used new series of joints. Which might've been a compromise from stopping action figure production all together? Old CEO was never really a fan of action figures. After a few failures, whatever deal UC made for using the Revolver Joints ended, so some of the unreleased Vulcanlogs changed into Game Classics and had different joints. They do look like they are positioned at the top of the shoulders instead of the center like most action figures. There seem to be zero joints that are like Geo joints except for the wrists, maybe the ankles. Mantis had those at least. And hip area is a good example, Y-shaped triple ball joints at the hip area isn't a AY only feature, and the thigh swivels are not on that specific Yamaguchi style angle. The sculpt work is Yamaguchi style but the joints seem more in common with any other action figures. They are posed like how Yamaguchi pose them so it is difficult to make the distinction. And the shoulder joints are hard to see. So I don't feel comfortable saying "they have AY engineering" for these. Definitely Yamaguchi style sculpting and posing photos.

Their legs need to be spread opened for one reason or another. They're meant to move enough for specific range of poses, aka dynamic poses, so it's not really retarded but unnecessary. There was only revolver joints available so it could get ugly, complicated, or fragile making all that belt area articulate out of the way. Every joint needs space for the two long pegs.

As in they use the same starting body frame. So I'm not sure who's to blame there. There's no clear sculptor characteristics division among AYs that you want to believe, and with the ones so far who can tell where Yamaguchi's influence dominates or not. They're clearly not operating at 100% freedom of the AY style unlike other regular Revoltechs. Sometimes none of us could tell who the sculptor is unless told so by them. So you can critique the AY all you like but assigning blame to the one sculptor and giving Yamaguchi the pass is shortsighted and based on nothing concrete.

The circumstance that 1/12 or so scale action figures are too expensive and niche. But Mini has shown that making them smaller didn't really chop down the price as much, and the smaller scale was even nicher than what they wanted to believe. They intended to sell 2x more by halving the prices. But they could make the same mistakes again, and that might be the last breath of Revoltechs. Now they seem to have accepted the premium, niche nature of completed action figures and compensate by doing more IPs and making less per production.

>>11259317Revoltechs were small. They were under 2000 yen for many reasons including size. Funny thing about the Revolmini was that they actually went back to about what Revoltechs used to be. Back in 2006 there were no "standard" size for action figures. And these were non-scale covering Super/Real Robots and Human characters. Gradually they got bigger. Especially the human characters, those by other sculptors like Saber or Fraulein. Sci-Fi Revos like Batman or Spider-Man were smaller than the later onslaught of Iron Man. Robots were generally smaller even for other companies. But the Evas got pretty big. SHF and figma came along so that most likely made the human revos bigger to match them.

No idea where they can go but they picked probably the top 2 mecha franchises excluding Gundam so nothing obscure I bet. I hope they do Gunbuster and this time make some RX-7. You can get a few out with redeco and the design is challenging to articulate. I doubt it will happen of course.

The more I figure out how to pose older Revos the more this figure is becoming one of my favorite figures I own, if not outright my favorite. She’s just so much fun to pose around and looks great. I genuinely think removing the accessory around her neck makes her look so much better too. I’m now desperately looking for a normal Vulcanlog Kirin.
