Having revealed himself to be Guntuber Justin Taylor, Devil Z none the less continues to lead the Decepticons in their battle to conquer the Earth!

Thread to post all things Transformers related; someone else can post the copypasta that I don't give a shit about!
>>

Is that Overlord figure any good?
>>
>>11622005
Definitely. Scale fags whine but he's a super solid figure and really fun to play with. The only flaw is that he only comes with one Titan Master (Giga); you have to buy the import to get both Giga and Mega (the later which has the shitty androgenous edgelord IDW face place).
>>
Really don't like how they downsized Darkwing and Dreadwing to deluxe size. Fuck, I really hate the "make everyone deluxe for convenience" assholes
>>
>>11622018
I'm more pissed that we finally got a combiner wars Starscream at the end of the line and none of the other Seekers! He's basically a reject torso with no dedicated combiner form; just a bunch of randos
>>
>>11622020
The best part was that one of the aerialbot molds did have a alternate seeker head and cone head, but those alt heads only saw use in Japan, and barely at that. They also had a seeker head in TR, it came with the Nightbeat mold but it also only saw use in Japan.

Are Blockees compatible with the vehicles from the Action Master line? Thinking about getting Optimus Prime's Action master tractor trailer vehicle

So any chance Hasbro can take the clue about how much people hate the frame slop shut for combiners and go back to Scramble City, via making the next set of combiners be updates of the Terrorcons and Seacons? But especially the Seacons given how Americans got fucked out of getting them this first time around?

Never liked how insanely huge Beast Wars Megatron and Optimus Primal are. So I picked up the two Robot Master Primal and Megatron releases. Sadly, the actual show accurate color Robot Masters are insanely overpriced if you even see them for sale online so I bought the two ghetto color Cybertron versions we got in the US. But at least they are in scale with the rest of the cast save for Dinobot....

Anyone using Combiner Wars Prowl as their G1 Prowl? Still shocked that Blue streak keeps getting great treatment and all of his accessories and a unique head while Prowl can't get his shoulder guns in any of his modern incarnations
>>
>>11622018
The Dreadwind and Darkwing we got for POTP was so half-assed. They were just Aeriabot remolds that barely held together in combined Dreadwing mode. I'm hoping that the fact we're supposed to get a Joyride in AoTP means we'll get redos of these two. Preferably as Voyagers.
>>
>>11622104
At least you didn't but the whole set. Those two mega box sets from Titans Return were completely dog shit.
>>
>>11622083
They actually did release the Robot Masters Megatron and Optimus Primal in their original colors, but it was in a limited edition box set that IIRC was only available at Target or Toys R Us.

Dreadwind is decent but they completely fucked up Darkwing. The head literally floats if you don't hook it into position just right....

Human Alliance line is so much fun. I really enjoyed the scout class ones, very reminiscent to Diaclone, you can turn the robot to a mech suit for the human figure.
>>
>>11622335
Except the frame doesn't and worse

1. Makes the figure look ugly
2. Results in all the figures being fucked up via them splitting into two parts and not real combiners since they are just being attached to the frame instead of being actual Scramble City combiners
3. Makes the fucking torso bots way too fucking expensive to buy since they should be sold as Voyagers

Only a retarded nigger faggot fake ass TF fan would like the current frame abomination combiners slop being for Ed onto us.
>>

because Americans are lazy and need parts forming
>>
>>11622483
Because they wanted to copy those lazy Chinese people who make all those frame 3p figures
>>
>>11622483
Because people like Transformers that transform, even if they do it in a way that gives you an aneurysm.

I will always take a frame combiner than any of the CW ones. Cheap and shitty individual robots, wonky combiner mode with obvious thighs used as elbows, individual robot arms that don't even try to hide and the shittiest hands and feet ever that force you to buy third party crap to try to barely salvage the whole mess.

>B-but frames don't combine!
They do. In a different way.
>B-but the individual robots do nothing!
The frame by itself looks naked without them.
>B-but it's cheating!
Transformers combiners had ALWAYS cheated. Hands, feet, and back in the day heads and chestplates. A bunch of random crap you need to attach. But you give it a pass because that's how shitty they've always been. They actually combine all that junk together now and that's a good thing.

If frames was the way these things worked since the 80s you morons would be singing praises about them. It's so obvious you know jack shit about combining robots other than the half-assed scramble city ones. Let them try different things, if you don't like them just don't buy them, but this shit got old immediately after Menasor was announced.

Not the best example, SOC Choryujin was widely disliked when it came out because the amount of parts swapping was considered excessive and the high price tag. Even wotafa found it lacking, and it was one of the few times he seems to have been dissapointed with a product.

And what's the difference between Devastator and Liokaiser and the Scramble City guys? Think about it.
Even with the 6 man combiners (oops, gave the answer away) you'll still get cheating. Long Haul's trailer and Jallguar's missle rack effectively serve as extra "members" anyway.

>Transformers combiners had ALWAYS cheated. Hands, feet, and back in the day heads and chestplates. A bunch of random crap you need to attach. But you give it a pass because that's how shitty they've always been.
NTA but you'd think we'd have improved on needing to cheat parts of the combiner rather than cheating even harder whilst stripping out Scramble City functionality, meaning any future Baldigus/Ruination we get out of Bruticus is gonna suck as the limb switching was something he did in the show.
My take is that most of the G1 combiners are overrated as fuck anyway. Gimme an actually good Build King/Landfill update.
>>
>>11622679
Finally anon that makes valid point. After many decades they still can't make a perfect combiner.

Build King/Landfill have a very unique combination gimmick that I really enjoyed, it's called Tornado gattai if I remembered correctly, able to rotate to switch between Cyclone, Hurricane and Typhoon. Also 4 robots combiner is rare in every robot brands.

Devestator, Predaking, Monstructor, and the Victory combiners are different from the Scramble City shit for a couple of reasons, the biggest being that Scramble City was EXPLICITLY created so kids could create a complete combiner so long as they had a torso TF and four limb bots.

And the affordability thing is critical towards WHY the combiners were such a huge deal and a major part of Transformers success. And why Hasbro fucked it up royally with the frame slop. You can't really mix and match shit with frame slop because each limb is limited to which spot it goes into to the point of killing any creativity/personal preference. You can't make your own combiner nor have your preference for which figure goes in which limb spot.

Adding to this, is the ultra bullshit that is torso bots now being $100 a pop; a LOT of stores don't fucking carry Commander or even Titan figures these days because no store wants to have a $100-200 shelf warming figure on the shelf that no one can afford to buy. Let alone no fans want a glorified wall accessory or a high chair for Brawl to sit into/parts to make Onslaught's actual fucking vehicle mode because they skimped on his design so he's only half the vehicle.

Combiner Wars alone had huge fucking problems with people completing teams. But now it's worse. I've never seen a single torso bot at retail because of the obscene price point making stores not wanting to stock them and the price is way too fucking high for me to give a shit to buy one online. And the frame slop makes it impossible for me to do what I did as a kid with the G1 Scramble city combiners and simply piecemeal build one using what figures I could get my mom to buy me when I was a kid.

It's super fucking spiteful and short sighted and kikish to a degree that it comes off as though Hasbro is actively punishing fans for the years that they have been demanding combiners come back.
>>
>>11622838
Hey, at least you're not a Masterpiece buyer. Everyone who bought first run Super Ginrai was a moron because they're already doing a second bach with a ton of impeovements. People were assuming we would get this with Nucleon Quest Convoy, but we wouldn't see these improvements on the og release until at least 2 to 3 years
>>
>>11622838
Literally just ask Santa for your torso bot
They're only do one a year so it pans out
>>
>>11622820
New members for combiners is a literal trainwreck.

Alpha Bravo only exists because they had to justify spending money on a helicoptor mold via giving it three uses (Alpha Bravo, Blades, and Vortex). And his character in the comics was literally just "I'm Slingshot's replacement!"

Offroad and Rook had decent figures but their characters were non-existent and even then, their repaints and retools were way cooler looking with better color on the molds.

Shut up frame slop eater

Scramble City was created as the new low price point figres once the Minibots ran their course. The limbs cost the same amount as a Minibot ($3-$4) and the torso cost around $10, which was the price of a regular deluxe figure in the G1 heyday. And as I stated, you just needed four limbs and a torso to make a combiner, so you could mix and match teams.

>>
>>11622859
You're missing the point. Devastator was never made with the scramble formula in mind to begin with. What he's saying is the push for accuracy by having these frames and bifurcating armbots have made combiners way too expensive all for the sake of accuracy thus defeating the point of combiners which was their affordability.
>Hercules suffers pretty hard from keeping the individual bots all in proportion,
No shit, because they weren't thinking nor, gave a shit about the proportions when the focus wasn't there to begin with not to mention he's old as hell. It's funnier because the actual Devastator, that is trying to be proportionally accurate is squat with monkey arms.

>>11622775
>I was in these threads since CW and i noticed it started being shitty when Kingdom started.
It was shit then too. Especially with the advent of all the post 2015 collectors praising Prime Wars due to being G1 regardless of how much of a massive downgrade the figures were and went as far as to pull revisionist bullshit about everything before.
>>
>>11622890

>>
>>11622923
>Who gives a shit about retail, get with the times and just buy online like everyone else.

Shipping prices can be a bit of a bitch these days, on top of the fact buying at retail lets you guage things like paint problems if you can see the actual figure.

I ordered Mixmaster online and he arrived with a gross paint error on his face that looked like he needed to blow his nose. I solved that by painting over it but it's still the sort of thing I prefer to buy at retail to avoid.
>>
I regularly lurk here. What is this about frames? I have SS Devastator, is the frame Long Haul's extra cab that he carries around? Why are frames hated?
>>
>>11622941
Zoomers can't understand 90s web design so they hate frames.
>>
>>11622941
The frame debate revolves around the Scramble City combiners, Devastator isn't involved.
>gimmick of Scramble City combiners is that any 1 torso bot + any 4 limb bots = combiner robot
>frame style combiners (Legacy Menasor, AotP Superion and Bruticus) instead use 1 torso bot, who comes with vehicle kibble that forms a "combiner" robot, who the limb bots simply plug on to, as to better match the combiners' appearances in the G1 cartoon|
it's a debate between play factor and cartoon accuracy, gimmickry and stabilitiy.
>>
>>11622957
There's really no winning with Menasor, Motormaster's transformation is just asking too much of reality.
>>
>>11622941
They aren't, it's one autist trying hard to make hatred of them a thing. He calls himself the god of combiners because only he gets to decide what a combiner is.
>>
>>11622963
You sound like such a retard. One can look at any Transformers fandom site and see the modern combiners are a subject of debate.
>>
>>11622941
Frame combiners have most of the actual combined mode being formed out of a skeleton (frame) made out of parts not formed from the actual individual robots. It kind of cheapens the thing to me; the appeal of a combiner, to me at least, is you're combining multiple guys into one big guy. When the individuals contribute very little to the actual combined form, it doesn't feel much like a combiner. It might make for a better representation of the thing on the screen, but it makes for a very dull toy.
I feel like CW style combiners, but done 1 combiner per line (rather than trying to do the whole roster in one line) and with the experience the team has gained in the meantime would work. I don't even think the torso would need to be a Commander- a Leader would do the job.
>>
>>11622962
Menasor has always been the shittest combiner, the leg cars being backwards is bad, he's a giant grey brick, all the other Decepticon combiners sweep him.
>>
>>11622968
>I don't even think the torso would need to be a Commander- a Leader would do the job.

>>
>>11622018
AotP Blast Off really should have been a voyager, so the back of his shuttle mode could be pulled off and attached to Bruticus' chest. But because Hasbro are lazy, Onslaught's trailer is going to have to have some random brown and purple shit in it.
>>
>>11623001
Just the way based Combiner Wars did it.
>>
>>11622061
I don't mind the frame system as a concept but Hasbro keep messing it up. Abominus and Piranacon shouldn't use a frame but Defensor could work with that system.
>>
>>11622546
The limbs should have turned into Silverbolt's G1 runway mode, instead of giving the plane an ugly extension. Although all of the new Aerialbots are a disaster so I don't know how much that would have helped. They shouldn't even bother trying to make planes in deluxe class, even if Needlenose turned out alright.

Oh, nice. So it's not like the idea hasn't ever crossed their minds. I got back into Transformers during Legacy so I haven't paid much attention to CW.
>>
>>11622962
Is it? I mean he just turns into a giant box on wheels. I don't know why Hasbro has such a hard time with him.
>>
>>11623007
>The limbs should have turned into Silverbolt's G1 runway mode,
The only point of the combiner torsos ramp modes was the launching mechanism that was never realized when they ended up releasing it as transformers. I'll rather have a brick that makes a weird giant plane than a brick that does nothing other than sitting there.
>>
>>11622941
It's not as bad with the Constructions but Long Haul's extra cab does figure into it. It's basically a giant cheat piece. Granted, we saw what happens when you try to not cheat which was CW Long Haul.

I personally have likes and dislikes about either method. I didn't care that CW Long Haul was so huge. I just hated his shitty articulation (which really had no reason to be since it had nothing to do with combining)

I like SS Long Haul because he's more accurate and scales better and has better articulation, but is also way too expensive and his cheat piece does nothing else. It turns from a waist to a hunk of kibble on wheels. Maybe if stuff could store in it or it became a battle platform or did SOMETHING.
>>
>>11623017
I like base/building modes because it's something for smaller figures to pose around, rather than standing on a flat shelf.

Anon this might shock you but some people (dare I say, MOST people) don't care about that. I don't want to "make my own combiner", I want a Menasor, Bruticus, Defensor, etc.
>And the frame slop makes it impossible for me to do what I did as a kid with the G1 Scramble city combiners and simply piecemeal build one using what figures I could get my mom to buy me when I was a kid.
Ok, read that last bit aloud to yourself and see what's wrong with it. You can't tell me that doesn't sound ridiculous.
No one is in favor of Hasbro's price gouging. But I hate to tell you, if you're an adult you should really be able to afford to complete a combiner and not rely on the same economic model of piecemealing what your mom got for you back then as a grown man now.

You have to accept that people who collect for playability are a minority.
Most of the people, even here, collecting Transformers buy shit, pose it one or two times, then send it to the shadow realm of the Transformers bin/dusty shelf/closet drawer. That's the majority and that's the kind of collector that doesn't mind a figure being shit as long as the mode they'll pose thrice at best looks 70 percent like the cartoon and can, allegedly, be stable

Combiner Wars/Unite Warrior
Advantage:
- Scramble city (can form arm/leg)
- Cost cheaper (1 voyager, 4 deluxe)
Disadvantage:
- Proportion
- Articulation

Frame Combiner
Advantage:
- Proportion
- Articulation
Disadvantage:
- Scramble city
- Frame that make up the entire body
- Expensive (1 commander, 4 deluxe)

To me, I don't like both. I was hoping for Combiner Wars 2.0 with better proportion and articulation from a new engineering and deaign.
>>
The easiest fix to the mess that are frame combiners would be to make the torso bots old leader class sized and allow for the combiner limbs that come out of them to extend past the limb bots like MMC's Defensor but allow the limb bots to actually for the limbs.
This shouldn't be hard, fucking Diaclone did it, but the chinks threw the first punch and everyone rolled with that bullshit. It goes to show how little this fandom cares about their toys being toys.

Those scrapped torso bots by Toyworld had the right idea and there's no good reason why Hasbro couldn't steal the concept.
The most oddly overlooked flaw of Combiner Wars were the limb bots being cheap as shit, which these don't fix, but could be remade to have ratchets at the knees and hips or have gap covers as part of their transformation. The torsos could be fixed but until they fix that other thing it would be moot. This was a good chance to do all of that but they wasted it.

He's generally apolitical though his ROTC videos and his "it is what it is" videos on the purging of Confederate shit during BLM gave the impression he's a liberal hiding his power level given how much of guntub is conservative. His West point videos were neat and a lot of them are to e porn type random footage sped up and set to public domain techno. That said, his appearance on Unsubscribed gives the implication that he might be a closet racist given the story he had about dealing with blacks in the military amd his general mystery meat nature (his bio dad is dead/no photos of him are online, just of his step dad) and he looks either like a really swarthy Italian or a half jeet type, indicating some self loathing. But in general Taylor is one of the more normal gubtube guys on YT.

I like how it looks. The massive upper body fits a brute like him, and it doesn't have extremely long lower legs and puny thighs or the ridiculously small elbow joints of the CW one.
>>
>>11623272
UW Devy was good when you restore the functionality Hasbro's bean counters gutted from it. The problem is the alt modes are bad because CW had this weird idea people wanted strip mining construction vehicles instead of normal construction vehicles.
>>
>>11623265
I agree CW looks way better but SS86 Devy still looks pretty decent
>>
>>11623278

How? Every single proportion problem you can have with the SS86 one is present on the CW, and that one had even more problems like the pathetic upper legs. Dude has his knees so high up he would barely be able to walk.
>>
YO!
>>
>>11623292
Not only that but the Scavenger arm looks like a pancake on the CW one The SS86 hides it better with the excavator arm being more posable and resting against it. It's an illusion but it really makes it look way better.

I don't have attachment to any cartoons, I don't buy toys based on my attachment to characters. I just don't care.
I mostly enjoy combiners because of the play patterns. I find robot toys that can only perform transformation in two modes dull. I will buy robot toys that can do many things, that is the appeal for me.

That said, i would like to have another remake of scramble city type combiners, it doesn't necessarily have to be G1 again. It can be those from Superlink/Energon.
>>
>>11623318
I still think energon barricade is one of the best torsobots we ever got. Only thing that could be better would be some accordioning panels on the forearms to cover the head in alt mode.

Despite my earlier owning of CWcels I do like the last Terrorcon set. The beast modes are great and I love the colors.
We don't know yet if they'll do a new Abominus (I figure eventually, but not anytime soon). But if brightly colored freaks are your thing we do have a new Monstructor coming for an "Abominus at home" option.
I just want to see a frame Abominus because hydra mode Hun-Grr with 7 heads would be SICK.

I've been lucky with mine but there are lots of horror stories out there. You have to be very careful with them. I only transformed my Tracks once, he was shipped to me as a car and I did it one time to make him a bot, and a bot he will stay. It sucks because him and Road Rage look good in both modes but it's risky to get them there.
I'm always careful/lucky and thought the problems with clear plastic were exaggerated, until just the other day I broke my Earthrise Wheeljack lol.

>My condolences on your wheeljack, where did he break?
The little piece of clear plastic inside his leg that comes out for the windscreen. It would often pop off the leg, but this time the actual plastic sheared in half. So my Jack isn't much good in car mode anymore (which I loved) unless I pretend it's battle damage and he got his window shot out.
Road Rage has a nice headsculpt and colors though, so if you want another fembot and/or diaclone bot to pal around with Burnout you could do a lot worse. Just be gentle with her.

>>
>>11624438
The perception of the 13 as deities bugs the fuck out of me. Primus and Unicron are deities, the 13 are just really strong guys that can perceive and sometimes direct the lives of alternate versions of themselves. They are the more occult, magical part of a mostly science fiction franchise, and even to that extent they are fairly tame compared to the likes of other massive franchises.

It's like...
>we are God's!
>this guy can manipulate time!
>this guy can flex his body around really good!
>this guy can do alchemy!
>this guy is literal robot Jesus sometimes!
>>
>>11624444
Seeing 100% Hasbro display without including obvious Takra improvements (which isn't many these days) is just so jarring and "poorfaggy". Even if you don't like the Premium Finish G1 release3s the BW versions are just massive improvements so it's always jarring to see those and it just falls in with casuals posting their collections because they don't go deeper into the hobby to get better looking figures.

It's like looking back at Classics/Generations collections and seeing people display obviously terrible domestic releases like Universe Smokescreen instead of the Japanese release. Even if you can't afford to spend that much every time, some releases simply demand being imported and seeing an all Hasbro set when there's better options available is laughable to look at.

They were originally just "the original 13 Transformers" in the old Marvel G1 continuity, though none of them were ever named or seen except for one who was later retconned as Prima (and he looks nothing like the modern toy of course).
I like the 13 existing in universe as a sort of in-universe TF Greek pantheon for the later Cybertronians to worship. But the mystery thirteenth definitely doesn't need to be Optimus. If anything, given the whole mystery identity and "prophesized chosen one" thing, it should really be RODIMUS if anyone.

>>11624516
You misunderstood me, I prefer modern combiners. I'm just stating that antique combiners due to limitations at their time, suffer in many ways.

I really don't like people wanting the old compromised design be brought back because of their nostalgia reason. Those are obviously inferior compare to what modern engineering and design can accomplish.
Using additional parts to combine in today's age is just lazy design.
>>
>>11624554
For example, why is Devastator after 40+ years still requires additional parts to make up the forearms, chest piece and hips?
DX9 Hulkie have everything built-in to the design that don't require additional parts to combine. That should be what the modern design be moving towards.
>>
>>11624554
I don't think old toy mechanics should be brought back just because of nostalgia, but claiming new toys that use old mechanics are real is retarded. At least modern engineering is producing combiners that are fucking rock solid, articulate and doesn't leave the individuals a poorly compromised mess. Some of the engineering complexity being shifted to partsforming may not be favorable, but it's producing good toys regardless of whether people approve of the implementation. The frames/extra parts all interact with the figures, transform and of things. People may not approve of the fact that these parts exist in the first place, but they still all fit into the Transformers landscape.

>>11624579
Because 3p pricing doesn't work at mainline pricing. Even at Legends scale. Mainline budgets are tight, what 3p can do is irrelevant.
>>
>>11624589
Budgeting reason are really just excuses. You know when they added parts count and complexity of a figure, they'll just bump up the price to higher class price point.
Also, the fans don't really matter about the cost. You'll see arguments everywhere calling people poorfag etc for not buying the products they deemed superior despite the price.

or AT LEAST do it the way third parties do it and not make it a blatantly obvious cheat with vehicles sitting on top of massive arm blocks
>>
