I miss those Turks in Romania who make a mean doner kebab. When I got back here in the US I have to travel a distance just to get the same taste. This, and the Halal beef pepperoni pizza they make fresh each time in Romania. FFFF

I hate that kebabs in my city in America are most at Turkish sit down restaurants. You can't just get one from a window or cart easily

This. No place in my entire country can do ramen justice.

I had Ramen in LA and Philly that was better than most of the places I went in Japan. They were in Japan towns and Chinatowns though. Lived in Germany for 3 years and definitely nothing came close

Curiously, I miss shawarma from an Iraqi place where I used to live in the USA.it’s very rare in my corner of Europe; kebabs are predictably everywhere, but it’s a very different flavor profile.

And although I have been to a couple of countries in the Middle East, I don’t think I ever actually saw it there. So the only places I can think of where I’ve eaten shawarma have been in the USA, Russia, and one or two spots in Europe, but not close to home.
>>
I miss Mexican food, writ large. Mexican Mexican, Cal-Mex, even Tex Mex or New Mexican (neither of which I am too into). Attempts at Mexican food in Central Europe, or really, pretty much anywhere in Europe, are uniformly somewhere between disappointing/sad and completely inedible.
>>
>>2666375
Same in Asia. Mexican food is AWFUL here!

I don’t like it much either, but I would sooner eat that than the shit that passes for Mexican food in Europe.
>>
>>2666373
There isn't any authentic ramen like places in the US the most you might have is some hibabchi slop and miso soup. The QUALITY of Japan with their healthy ingredients and lack of GMO/MSG stuff makes it worth eating. You don't have microplastics or preservatives that the US shoves into everything. I'm going to live in Japan for a year just to get my youth looks and health back like the Japanese have

Proper Doner Kebab or Kebab / Turkish food in general

I don't know how even fucking Japan manages to have good Kebab or Turkish food, but come virtually anywhere in the US and you get some garbage unless you go specifically to coastal mega cities that basically have a dedicated town of immigrants. It's odd how we have so many migrants come in yet for whatever reason Kebab is almost always middle of the road or some place you have to come back over a dozen times simply for them to 'finally' give you spicy food.

Ožujsko Limun beer in Croatia.
It's a low alcohol content beer that I drank every day I was in Croatia. They were really easy to drink and really refreshing. I found out after I got home that they only sell them in a few Baltic countries and you can't get them in the states at all.

There are at least 7 legit Ramen places run by old school japs in Las Vegas on west spring mountain. Our friend's wife was Japanese and she said a few of them were as good as anything she ever had in Japan.

I used to live on the Persian gulf and excellent shawarma was abundant. I’ve found two places in the U.K. that do good shawarma (not as good as gulf product but scratches the itch). One of them is this dodgy AF place a short walk from Stratford station in London. Looks like a front for drug dealers. There’s also bizarrely a decent one in that depressing shopping centre in Kent. That’s it.

That’s basically a lemonade shandy - take a bottle of generic lager and mix 50:50 with lemonade (the euro version, kinda like sprite). The French insist on calling it a cocktail “panache”. No need to import it anon just make it at home. Excellent on a hot day with a light lunch

I'm a beer drinker. When you're in Croatia hiking 12 miles a day, cliff jumping, kayaking and climbing a fuck ton of stairs, the last thing you want to drink is a fucking IPA in the middle of the afternoon. The lemon beers make a lot more sense when you're in Croatia.

Living in Australia, being a multicultural utopia (heavy sarcasm), despite the hordes of backwards third world brown people suddenly living here, at least the side effect is that we get really good quality versions of most food mentioned (banh mi's and kebabs etc), but I haven't found anywhere yet that does a really good Croatian style cuttlefish risotto.
