This is not a slide thread, hear me out.Question for the expats in Japan:There's many such cases of ESL teachers going to Japan being paid shit, then 15 years later they are not so fresh anymore and they either still live in small rooms at 40 years old or they try to go back to the US but can't afford shit and they end up homeless.Aren't you afraid of becoming poor or homeless?
>>2729029What you described isn't really an expat in my mind. An expat moves to another country as a highly skilled worker, or someone who isn't very reliant on the services and infrastructure provided by their host country to better their life - they already have it good and just want to experience life elsewhere. The losers who move to Japan to be ALTs usually have nothing going for them back home, they are really no different to any other unskilled immigrant from the 3rd world beyond their Western looks and authentic accents. An ESL teacher in Japan is basically a glorified pet for kids to oogle and laugh at.
Just do the FIRE method and you don't have to work at all. Cmon people you live in rich countries start a business, apply for grants, marry an old hag, grab your bag that way when you go to Japan you can goof off
>>2729038>FIRE methodWhat's that?
>>2729029Better to have had an adventure and then fade away, than never had the adventure and fade anyways. The guy in your image got like 8 African women pregnant btw, and skipped town when they tried to come after him for it. He did that over 5 years and 4 African countries which he will never go back to for fear of being forced to go to court before being allowed to leave again.I don't think he did Japan.
>>2729042>I don't think he did JapanOh boy, if only you knew.
>>2729029This is why you shouldn't develop an unhealthy attachment to a foreign country. If you never leave it, you lose the adaptability that is necessary to live in many different places...and to handle changes in your life as well.
>>2729042Lmao that's as pathetic as bragging about buying diseased whores in the Philippines. Why not brag that you did something requiring more than $5 bill
>>2729083On a basic level it's more like don't be a loser in a dead end job. You move to Japan to work McDonald's There's many such cases of fry cooks going to Japan being paid shit, then 15 years later they are not so fresh anymore and they either still live in small rooms at 40 years old or they try to go back to the US but can't afford shit and they end up homeless.Aren't you afraid of becoming poor or homeless?Lmao it's just our resident troll who never left his basement
>>2729087I don't think the man in question knew he was supposed to ask your permission first.Maybe next time.
>>2729089Incels aren't men friendo and a frendo wouldn't let his fren waste his life traveling for 29 hours to catch AIDs in the Phillipines
>>2729093You seem to be upset that another man traveled around the world and had sex and made children. Why does that bother you personally? Are you some type of bastard child of a sexpat with a prostitute mother? Only demographic I can imagine taking it personally for a good reason.
>>2729041Financial independence retirement early
>>2729095You seem to be aroused that another man traveled around the world and had degenerate Why does that excite you personally? Are you some type of incel bastard child of a pervert with a prostitute mother? Only demographic I can imagine taking it personally for a good reason.
>>2729107Repeating what others say is really a low IQ ESL tactic.
>>2729029Who is this lulcow again? I remember watching one of his youtube videos where he had a japanese wife/gf or something like that.
>>2729038what is the source of that image? where can I find the story?
>>2729029Some people are just complete retards. I must be 15 or even 20 years younger than him and I'm working online living in thirdie countries. He soeaks Japanese and should have a network of people for work, but he doesn't. He's just a failure. His mind isn't set up for hussling.
>>2729029Whatever happened with him and that japanese gal he was with?
>>2729029The only ESL teacher I know personally in Japan must be 50 by now. He’s lived in Kyoto for literal decades, and although I think he started out with some poverty-level teacher’s assistant gig, he eventually got a master’s degree and has been a tenured faculty member at some extremely posh bilingual high school and its associated mediocre university for many years at this point. He’s an unapologetic, well-paid middle-aged weeaboo Japan lifer and he seems very happy. Married to a local, never had kids.
>>2729127What's special about this image to you? If I were asked to judge you, I'd suspect you of being a pathetic coomer FUD wallower. Let's say you're not. What story are you expecting to hear?
>>2729141shut your old ass down, bitch.if you don't have the answer, shut up honky.
>>2729156ah, I see OP posted your selfie
>>2729042what's his name? where can I learn more?
>>2729159better looking than you
>>2729161That's "Ryan boundless". He has some really boring shitty content that you can nevertheless extrapolate interesting information from.
>>2729161Now he lives in a car in a Walmart parking lot.
>>2729137Sounds like he made it, good for him
>>2729042His sons will be killed and his daughters will be raped by other africans. Leaving behind fatherless mixed kids is not the ancestry deposit that sexpats think it is.
>>2729194more likely to be raped in Eupope or the Middle East because caucasians are animalistic.
>>2729198This isn't about racial tendencies, this is simply doing the math based on simple life realities. Single mothers and their children do not live well in any country. Third worlders do not live well and generally have less social support. Mixed kids get mistreated in ethnically homogeneous environments, so they won't be able to rely on their community for help. The guy was probably banging especially low class girls that would gamble on a foreigner to improve their life situation. Those kids aren't getting welfare to make it to an independent adulthood, they're going to be abandoned, killed, or sold into servitude.
My academic advisor from uni was an English teacher in Japan back in the 80s or 90s. He always kept trying to get me to do it and I never did, but he seemed really happy about his time in Japan.
>>2729170>Now he lives in a car*lived in a car, that has now been flooded by Hurricane Milton, apparently.
>>2729219woa RB is back in america living in a car??? lol that fuckin sucks >>2729029this guy's life scares me because i know deep down he's psychologically shouldering an immense amount of self-loathing and existential dread about the future. I know two guys that are kind of similar to this. One is 42 year old single dad wno is a D-rate DJ stuck in the early 2000 trance/rave scene that has long since become stale and uncool. He Djs 2-3 times a week at non-popping clubs but he's barely surviving and any kind of substantial financial setback has him e-begging for help. Another guy is in his late 40s, took a thai woman back to america and had kids, got divorced, and is staying in thailand to avoid child support. last i saw, he was working as part of the staff for a company who did yatch parties. like this dude is serving young people drinks and making food i couldn't imagine being in your 40s living paycheck to paycheck in a city that has a revolving door of men FLUSH with cash, eager to spend whatever it takes to "enjoy" their two week vacations, while you're barely making it. fuckin horrific. always single dads. always. I'd rather have a very large financial cushion than be in this position.
>>2729278Must be horrible to be 40 and still working. Work hard when you are 20 and have lots of energy. Retire and have ME time when you are 40
>>2729219This real? I was watching his videos and he said he was in Florida, then the hurricane struck and he hasn't uploaded since. I mean if you're living in a car anyways, why not just drive away when a literal hurricane comes kek
I'm an English teacher in Japan and I don't think me or anyone else I know considers themselves an "expat." Most people understand that it's just a fun gig to get you out and about for a couple of years before going back to the grind at home or going back to school for an advanced degree. I also know several people that have managed to land "real," non teaching-related in Japan after their ALT stints and very few of them have positive things to say about the work environment in this country.
>>2729088>you HAVE to be in the top 10% with a six figure desk job, or you are a loser and a failure!!This bullshit attitude is why so many westoids are deeply discontent with their life. My life habits guarantee a large financial safety cushion even after 6-9 months of no income. The hardships of travelling cheap & car-free in America will be faced when it is necessary to do so. "Homelessness" is more boring than anything else. So much time spent sitting around and waiting.
>>2729299he secretly wanted to sui>>2729304what "real" jobs did they land and how do you even make that transition? do you have to be asian? fluent in japanese? how the fark >The hardships of travelling cheap & car-free in America will be faced when it is necessary to do socars are literally a burden dude. i have't driven one for years. it is NOT liberating to have a car. especially now. motherfuckers are paying $600 dollars a month between gas and insurance.
>>2729308>what "real" jobs did they landSales is probably the field most people end up in if they decide to go for it, but I also know guys that have ended up in SOFA jobs, assistant program coordinators and the like for various foreign organizations, I even heard that one guy went on to get certified as a personal trainer.>fluent in Japanese?Basically everyone that stuck around is functionally N2 or higher, but some of the people who I've talked to said they were never asked about their certifications, rather they just demonstrated sufficient ability during an interview and that was all. >how the farkDetermination, luck, and people skills.
>>2729318so are they held to the same psychotic work standards as local japs? that is, the staying after to go drink with the boss type of bullshit?
>>2729320The way my friend (former ALT who now works international sales in a mid-sized manufacturing firm) tells it, you're expected to put in as much effort as everyone else around you during work hours (including occasional unpaid "voluntary" overtime) but the after work drinking stuff is more or less voluntary. It depends on the company, of course, but even a lot of younger Japanese people don't bother with that stuff anymore.
>>2729307>My life habits guarantee a large financial safety cushion even after 6-9 months of no income. My life habits guarantee a large financial safety cushion even after 30 years of no income.>The hardships of travelling cheap & car-free in America will be faced when it is necessary to do so. So much time spent sitting around and waiting."Homelessness" is not boring when you arent poor. If you get bored you travel somewhere else check into a lovely hotel go outside and have fun We aren't the same
>>2729308>it is NOT liberating to have a car. especially now. motherfuckers are paying $600 dollars a month between gas and insurance.Poorfag cope, my truck costs $35 a month in insurance and 15 cents a mile for gasLmao enjoy your public transit and getting stabbed by your fellow bums
If you don't learn the language, marry a local, get a PR, shift into some other profession outside of teaching (unless for some reason you genuinely love it) then you fucked up.Seriously, who spends 15 years in a shitty job living in a cupboard and then says "oh no its terrible here!"
>>2729361>i can drive my metal shitbox to go pickup mcdonalds >doesn't realize there's transit security literally everywhere now kys backwater shitbag lmao
>>2729419Lmao you think Tyrone and shaniqua will save you?
>>2729359Yeah, you're an unremarkable mutt golem investorfag put out to pasture like any other boomer. I've been a vagabond for all my adult life. Travel without hardship is meaningless idleness. Pride without the strength that comes from facing hardship is merely the conceit of privilege.
>>2729458>ı love being poorOK, lmao
