Has anyone here ever travelled during Christmas just to kind of get away from it for a bit?
I'm skipping Christmas in 2025 and wanted to hear from some of you what you have previously done, or if you just have some recommendations.

Everything shuts down around Christmas so getting what you need is harder.

Just travel to a non christian country. I went to Egypt last year and everything was open and active. Egypt is a shit country though. Don't go.

I’ve spent Christmas in Cambodia (with my wife) and in the Caribbean (with some extended family), among other places. Recommend both.

Going to Malay this Christmas.

I'll take warm weather & cheap tropical fruit over 'festivities'

Go to Europe for Christmas. Or else do you admit you lack Christmas Spirit?

bit early to be planning that far ahead isn't it anon

even in malaysia there is still christmas stuff everywhere. every mall, office block, hotel etc is decorated for christmas, shops have christmas foods etc etc
it is kind of weird to see huge fake snowmen standing in the 30 celsius heat but that's malaysia for you

Las Vegas is a good way to skip Christmas. Very few Christmas decorations, but lots of Chinese and Indians.
Also it is one of the cheapest times of the year in Vegas for hotels.

Definitely go to anywhere in Asia, problem solved.

Is it because most Vegas tourists are out-of-state Americans, and most of them will be celebrating Christmas in their home states?

I spent last Christmas in Thailand, wouldn't recommend trying to travel the country that time of year as every other Thai is traveling to visit their relatives for the New Year. Many places in Bangkok had Christmas decorations and carols playing...nothing in the provinces.

I live in Europe. I am happy to admit that I lack Christmas spirit.

Correct. Most Americans love Christmas, and the last thing they would do during Christmas is go to Las Vegas.
But the costs of hotels there skyrockets as New Year’s Eve approaches.

I have skipped it the last 4 years. First year I travelled to Thailand and fuck ladyboys (yes literally). Next 2 years I did charity work and that was fine, last year I travelled again, this time to Vietnam and rented a cabin in the woods for 2 weeks. Some of my family was angry the first 2 years but after that they kinda accepted it.

Wait, were they angry because you skipped Christmas, or because you were fucking ladyboys?

Kek because I skipped Christmas, obviously never told them about the ladyboys and other prostitutes.
