Women can't direct, they can't think, but they can only imitate. None of those films has any new cinematoraphic innovations in them. Nothing surprising in them or heartfelt performances. It is like they are pretending to be filmmaking auteurs, and only people believe them because they are too afraid to tell them no, your movie is no good.

Pickpocket (1959)
The Human Condition trilogy (1959-1961) takes place during the second sino-japanese war, so a couple decades prior. Not a very filmed war as far as I know, but Kubrick copied the second part for Full Metal Jacket, only setting it in Vietnam.

This was kino of the highest order.
It was a very interesting telling of the societal pressures vs. the individual's desire. I agree with Mizoguchi, the people were cucks in here. I think for its genre, this film is a complete gem. 9/10.
In another order of things, this made me convinced of the importance of FOTW, as I would have never saw this movie if it wasn't for the "game" of /film/.

It's a good easy rule to ignore trip/name fags, even more in a general. Helps filtering, though.
Godard in the '60s is already a kino machine: intellectualized, political entertainment of high-level. Alphaville is very good and I wouldn't even put in on a top 7 of the decade for him.

That's silly. There's all kind of films, and actors are very important for character-driven ones or personal vehicles, for example.

Serious question, how did filmmakers back in his time watch films? Did they just attend cinema randomly with everyone else? Like it's 1961, you go to the cinemas to watch a film, either something new or rerun of an older popular film or even a silent, and bump into Truffaut?

The controversy corner getting shut down wasn't a minor thing. It was done to silence center and right-wing posting, and used as the perfect excuse to further centralize power and harden to crazy degrees the comment moderation. Now going beyond the spammy 'Thanks' turned into a risky business. Even mild criticisms of a director or film is liable to get the cops on you. But naturally that happens nearly exclusively with people who have wrongthink. If you're on the right side of history, at most you get tickled in the wrist.
And they did this totalitarian push right in the middle of begging the userbase for money, kek.

They can't seize all the power if you don't let them. Same reason why presidents and politicians are scared of the people YOU have the power, even if it seems it ain't that way. You just need to organize a group of dissatisfied people and make some noise. Eventually they got 2 choices: let the site die or change to save the site. It's about using pressure man

I don't want moronic review from somebody who doesn't like, just some thoughts going into it that may help appreciate it. Sometimes films, especially more challenging ones benefit from a little background knowledge, sometimes they don't.

What doesn't help is FILM BAD COZ FILM BAD, I NEARLY HECKIN' FELL ASLEEP IT SO BAD.

You fat fucking stupid retard, nobody loves you and nobody cares about your opinions on your films.

Maybe I wont even like it but if I don't I wont reply to every post about FOTW talking about how much I'm a retard, I'll just express an actual opinion and maybe even have an interesting conversation if I'm lucky but probably not because this board is infested with retards like you. I got shit on for watching the wrong Bresson film first because I just jumped in without any knowledge. I liked the film but knowing a little bit about Bresson's wacky ideas when it comes to directing actors would have eased me into a bit better. You're gonna get shit on either way if you don't automatically have (or more likely pretend to) the absolute party line opinion and even then you'll still get shit on because we're all retards here. Yes, there clearly used to be more posters engaging in serious conversations, but the shitposting was also present from day one. So, one positive thing, one negative thing. Guess which wins over time? Always the destructive force.

You are factually wrong. The Controversy Corner pretty much turned into a place for bullying the user moni, who sadly could not fend for himself. Nobody ever got banned off of it, and the mods did literally nothing against GP, who regularly posted his conspiratory views on almost everything. Good posters like GP were scarce, though, and that thread had devolved into inane shit flinging and name calling.
>And they did this totalitarian push right in the middle of begging the userbase for money, kek.
How new are you on KG? The donation drive always happen at the same time of the year every year. And it's not like they're desperate, it was swiftly completed as always.

Don't think so, things are as I described. moni was/is an autistic Russophile nationalist(?), constantly looking for discussions but he always could defend himself, even with all the ganging up from the usual people. Now aloysius70 was someone who got booted. Easily one of the best posters in the place and he got "disabled" around the time the new brutish moderation system was being envisioned. But he wasn't that active in the CC thread, just in normal comments.
And I didn't say people got banned in that thread, I said they closed one the most active places in the forum as a way to silence anyone having non-hard left views. The intention wasn't just killing that venue of course, but in very strong words telling people "you have wrong thoughts, you're going to get in trouble". Censorship, pure and simple.
Even sensible posters like GP or Veikko are constantly attacked or mocked by the clique.
I know the asking for donations happen in mid-year, and I pointed that out because it's rich doing the begging act while you're implementing new hardcore moderation against the userbase.

For power hungry retards, yes. If you were there for content then I guess you have the right to do nothing, but you expressed dissatisfaction about treatment of posters, so I dunno, seems contradictory. I think defending yourself is a basic skill in life, so that's that.
