I don't like horror, life is scary enough. The only movie I've seen of this list was strange darling last week. It was a decent flick, just wish I didn't get spoiled while reading reviews by faggot letterboxd users trying to be funny
>>
>>203812072
Red Moon Tide is probably one of the worst there. A legitimate half star film.

Wrong, that faggot didn't describe him right
He's a faggot who spams /hor/ with his ESL fantasies about sucking colored dicks and dog dicks, and complains about how much he hates women, even once telling us that "being gay is based"
>>
>>203812187
I was just going off the posters, which is why I said "probably". although I can't imagine Red Moon Tide is that bad. it's the same director as Samsara, which got some buzz here, though I haven't seen either
>>
>>203812342
He kinda based, ngl
>>
>>203812226
I accidentally lied, I've also seen Watcher, The Swarm and Speak No Evil. Last one had too much gore near the end for my taste. I just don't like gore and slasher films bore me. If you could recommend anything that doesn't have too much of either of those I would give it a try for spooktober
>>
>>203812361

Been talked about way too many times; basically:

Directors:
Argento
Bava
Von Trier (for some)
Cronenberg (for many)
Kubrick
Scott

Stand alone films:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Halloween
The Dead trilogy (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead)
Zombi 2
Les lèvres rouges
Cannibal Holocaust (for some)
Pulse
Cure
Ringu (for many)
Dark Water (seen it mentioned once or twice)
Carnival of Souls
The Devils
Altered States

That would be like main /film/ /hor/core I think.

This is the new Possession and Suspiria, a cult classic for years and decades to come. It was made for you /film/ enjoy the greatness!
>>
>>203822137
>a cult classic for years and decades to come.

Nice marketing attempt. It badly wants to be the new cult classic but it insists upon itself too much to be that, and has too many 'men bad' woke themes. Even a film like Black Swan is better. The Substance is soulless with very little actual depth. The scene she is muttering and cooking for five minutes. The blood spray scene and fight scene. It is all so indulgent. An amateur attempt that could use more Japanese precision or ethereal David Lynch vibes. Just stop pretending this is /film/ it has more in common with the Scream or Saw series than Giallo horror.

That'll probably happen a lot in the future. The list is full of classics and well-known films.

Then again, experiences vary a lot. People here have said before they never watched The Godfather, Kane, Breathless, any Ford, any Feelini, etc. I think there's an easy tendency to overestimate /film/ posters because of the kinds of films talked about.

Btw, I myself haven't watched My Dinner with Andre. Nor am interested right now, actually.

Kind Hearts and Coronets > Monsieur Verdoux

Initially I skipped that one and went straight to 1950 after watching just two movies from 1949 (Late Spring and The Third Man). I'm glad I went back and decided to watch that one.

Also, about the 1950. I didn't really enjoy All About Eve that much. Sunset Blvd. was much better, but I actually enjoyed In a Lonely Place the most. I've seen people comparing these three movies because they are all about Hollywood/theatre.
>>
>>203834411
I suppose, although I disagree with anyone who does that. you don't actually like the medium if all that matters to you is the message

I see you point, but cinema isn't only for people like us who watch a shitton of films from all places and ages primarily for art's sake. In fact, we're a niche.
So I think it's pretty valid if someone wants to judge what they watch as a moral-cultural way.
>>
>>203834451
are you going through your watchlist chronologically or what? I attempted that, but gave up after finishing 1944. I've still got another 57 films from the 40s in my watchlist. I'll get to them eventually, but not chronologically

Your edgy post just reads as coping with reality. Political matters affect everybody, so naturally people will want to talk about it IRL or specially now online.
>>
>>203835355
You aren't affecting anything by arguing over politics. The only person coping is you.
Maybe a few more wojak cartoons will affect something, right? Maybe a just hours and hours of shit flinging on 4chan will affect something, right?
Political matters affect everyone, arguing and constant obsession with them does not
>>
>>203835416
So you agree with my obvious point, but you're endlessly triggered over people deciding to talk about it?
Debating and discussing ideas isn't done because people think they're going to change the world if they prove the other side wrong online. It's usually for its own sake, or for defending whatever someone believes in a given place, like on 4chan.
>>
>>203835543
It's still pointless. Everyone in the argument will hold the same opinions once it's over. You are wasting hours debating for nothing.
An IRL argument makes more sense as you might actually affect someones opinion, or they might affect yours, or both sides may come to some sort of agreement. Plus, you can still make them hear the other side of the argument. Online political arguments are quite literally pointless.
>I am actually right you know!
>No, I'm right, and I have a twitter screenshot to prove it!
>Well you're a cuck!
>No you're an incel!
>KILL YOURSELF FUCKING CHUD!
>KILL YOURSELF FUCKING TROON!
That's what every 4chan political argument becomes
>>
>>203835706
Interesting, I don't disagree with the reality of anything you said. Discussions here are rarely not on that level, but that's true for almost anything else on 4chan. /film/ is a perfect example where not sharing the same taste is a instacrime.
But I can't say it's pointless if that's how people want to spend their precious time. They get their kicks out of the shitflinging.
>>
>>203835706
It's just that these /pol/fags are, in reality, obsessed with validation. They can't cope with the fact that different people think different things... they are the same as the trannylords that they so vehemently criticize, both are nazi monothink enforcers, wrongthink punishers, just that the left is obsessed with tranny rights while the right is obsessed with anti.tranny discourse. Easy as that, both sides of the coin are exactly the same think. Forcing opinions over other people is all that they care about
>>
>>203835963
It's only a instacrime for the same fags that probably try to force their opinions over other people all the time. The Lola Montes fag is maybe the most egregious example of this; can't cope with the reality that 3 anons didn't care for the film
>>
>>203836147
>the same fags that probably try to force their opinions over other people all the time
It's a very vocal clique who does that every single thread. I think they're also the lmao posters
