Genuinely one of the greatest TV dramas in recent times that isn't a reboot or a pre/sequel of an established franchise. Why isn't /tv/ talking more about this? Even when it was airing it barely got any threads here.
>>206515849>he missed the KendallbowlSad!
half the board only comes here to get ragebaited about woke like a bunch of retard boomers
>>206515849>Even when it was airing it barely got any threads here. What are you talking about it had a 24/7 general for months and it lasted weeks after it ended.
>>206515886qrd? or links to archived threads? not OP but i also missed it and finally binged the whole show during thanksgiving
>came from a bumfuck nowhere rural small town in the midwest>worked his way into an Ivy League>probably got his first job in a senior position in Wall Street>climbed his way into the Waystar managerial role>managed to seduce the billionaire owner's baroness daughter>play cutthroat family and office politics for years as a meek obedient dog>won the successionbowl and becomes the new CEO, which probably takes home a 9 figure salary every yearRealistically speaking, how the FUCK did he do it? This doesn't just happen IRL, right?
>>206516204Wolf in sheep's clothing. It's implied that he's literally gay in the first episode in that fucking hilarious exchange with Greg.
>>206515886>>206515949Who did /tv/ largely support when it was airing the final season last year? Was it Kendall, Tom or Greg?
>>206516495mattson
>>206516495Mattson because he was seen as an aryan god, fucking /pol/ homos I was Team Greg for the shits and giggles
I like the show, but a lot of the dialogue (except for Greg and Tom-elette) is flat. I assume it's because they improvise so much.
>>206516204Have you missed all those Hollywood uplifting movies? In reality these people had to be assholes and had a shit load of luck to happen but this is fucking possible in America, you just have to "play nice" while working hard.
>>206515932Shame, I wish all the anti-woke ragebaiting would just fucking end. It seems like ages ago when /tv/ was largely engaged in genuine discussion about film and tv shows. >>206515949It's not as big as BB/BCS, GoT(S1-3), Sopranos etc, even though qualitatively-speaking it is very much in the same category of top echelon television that just so happens to be widely enjoyed by normalfags.>>206516495Tom (besides a few ironic posters) was never taken seriously here so the ending was quite a surprise. Kendall had quite a few supporters, Greg has always been a meme. Roman is a loveable joke and Shiv was hated iirc. Logan was the only character /tv/ liked because he's everything 4chan embodies.
>>206515849Nah, it's got that Millennial quippy Reddit writing stink all over it. I'll be fair and say that the first season was actually pretty decent, but every season after that and it becomes insufferable. If you want a masterpiece of television, watch The Sopranos.
>>206516857as someone who has experience working in high-end new york offices the in-office dialogue is pretty accurate desu, if you take away all the swearing
>>206516495I was Team Roman. He was the best Salesman out of the three kids.
>>206515849Stopped watching when Logan died. I mean I think I watched half of the following weeks episode and just turned it off. Nothing was going to be satisfying at that point.
>>206515849Team SiobhanWe kinda won, at least moreso than Kendall fags
>>206516204My bet from episode one was that Greg was going to become gradually more despicable as the seasons progressed until he was in charge. I still think they would have went that way had they not decided to quit after s3.
Can someone tell me why did women enjoy this show so much? When it's just a bunch of middle-aged white guys passive-aggressively posturing about finance and politics?
>>206517121Snappy and quirky chungus dialogue
it got plenty of threads and it went to shit after thing happened to the point that i don't think about it as a good show anymore
>a shaky camera captures arguments between crude, tastleless AmericansPretty one-note, should've been a 90-minute film if anything at all.
>>206517121It's aspirational. Same reason they loved Mad Men
it's actually a mediocre showed regaled in "sophisticated" TV dress. None of the characters make sense and there is no underlying depth to the show.
>>206515849It was a really good show but lost something after season 2. Still good but never got back to that level.
>>206517121because every single main character displayed ambition, a trait that most women find extremely sexy even if they won't admit it. to them seeing ambitious, wealthy white guys is like seeing cleavage to us
>>206515849I still don't know if these threads are bait or tv genuinely like this piece of shit that utterly fails both as a drama and as a comedy and it's just rich people saying fuck off. Prove me wrong by linking a single funny or dramatic scene that isn't cheap if you can.
>>206517211>it's actually a mediocre showed regaled in "sophisticated" TV dress. None of the characters make sense and there is no underlying depth to the show.I'd agree with that apart from the 'mediocre' bit. It's an excellent black comedy in the same way The Thick of It is. But I didn't watch it for the drama and intrigue either.
Punished Kendall with the 5am shadow will always be best Kendall. He deserved to win goddammit, he was eldest boy!!!!
>>206515849>The Real Housewives of Daddy's Media Empire
All the retards complaining about the dialogue casually missing the fact that many actual wealthy children of billionaires complained about the accuracy of how the characters talk. Face it, this is how spoiled manchildren who never had to grow up speak IRL. HBO literally hired trust fund managers and other financial consultants to share with them how the 0.00001% speak in private settings. This is real life retards.
>>206517456it's not one tenth as funny as the thick of it. It tries way too hard and the acerbic humour just doesn't hit.
>>206517121Because Americans love people in power, which also explains why their tv shows are about lawyers, doctors and cops.
>>206517280I'm waiting faggots
>>206518648see >>206517748
>>206518776That's not what I asked for and being accurate doesn't make it good
>>206515849>Why isn't /tv/ talking more about this?because we are not serious people
>>206518917It wasn't supposed to be ultra funny or ultra dramatic. It was a realistic, almost pornographic insider look of how money, greed and shitty parenting tear the wealth of these great modern ultracapitalistic dynasties apart from within.
>>206517473he was a manic-depressive drug addict
Who was ultimately the worst sibling?
>>206519116Shiv by far. She was essentially Logan but female. Literally Cersei in Wall Street form. And she didn't even bother doing a nude scene to make up for all the bullshit she does throughout the show. Hiding those fantastic knockers.... fucking cunt actress.
I was one of the first people to make Succession threads. In fall of 2019 I broke up with my gf of 10 years. I moved into a new place, had nothing. Bought an office chair. Used the box to hold up my macbook. I saw Succession HBO MAX and it looked cool and I was instantly hooked. Marathoned seasons 1 and 2 quickly.
>>206518996How do you become a serious person? Genuine question.
>>206515849it's already inspiring other good stuff outside of tv
>>206517473He'll always be my number 1 boy
>CEO>billionaire wife>gets to rape Greg every dayHe won
>>206515849I watched 2 seasons and quit yesterday. Nothing really happens just talk talk talk. It was fun for 1 season maybe until you realize it's all show is. Empty talk.
>>206519261I'll agree Shiv was the hottest woman on tv at the time, but she was retarded. Constantly getting out maneuvered and double-crossed, especially by Mattson. Tbh all of the kids beside Kendall just wanted the position to prove to themselves that Logan loved them the most. Any one of them would have floundered almost immediately after taking control, and would have Kendall do the actual work. Roman would have drove it into the ground with brash decisions, Shiv would have been duped and sold the company to foreign investors, or taken it in a completely new, wrong direction
>>206520152Not wrong, my biggest complaint is the show was constantly baiting you into getting hyped for dramas then punching you in the face for wanting satisfying drama in your television drama. realistically you can watch season one, skip to season 4 and not really miss anything
>>206517473
>>206520186it was immersion-breaking the way none of her siblings ever commented on her ballooning weight in the later seaosns
One of the best shows in recent times.
>>206520704>"And this is my sister, Fat Fuck"
>>206516204Realistically speaking, he's still a glorified meek obedient dog. That's the function of the managerial class: they make sure the shareholders get a ton of money while everybody else gets fucked in the ass. Tom didn't really win. Listen to his conversation with Mattsson. He's an anxious man. He's always worrying. He grinds his teeth in his sleep (Logan does too, btw). He'll never find happiness.
>>206520704This. You would expect Roman to take a fattie jab at least once.
>>206520704Well, I don't remember anyone saying to Roman that he is a manlet. (maybe they did, I remember he commented on his own height but that's about it)
>>206515849>I just don't think you'd be good in that position.what a fucking shitshow ending of a series holy fuck. Greetings from kazakhstan
>>206516495I was a gregcel myself
>>206515849It’s shit. It’s basically a sitcom except for Brian Cox
>>206520186>Shiv was the hottest woman on tv at the time
>>206517280You got filtered because of your low IQ, sorry you had to find out this way
>>206521849You had to be there.
>>206516495I was a tomcat from the beginning - FUCK Shiv. Love all the characters though.
>>206515932This>Make a thread just genuinely wanting to discuss a movie or a film>Thread dies with like 4 replies>Make a thread with something like "BRO A NEW MOVIE IS COMING OUT AND THERE'S A BLACK PERSON IN IT">Thread goes to the bump limit with like 800 replies
Great show, sadly it’s let down by the ending. People saying it’s actually kino and you just don’t get it can praise how watching the same thing happen four times in a row is actually great writing, but it’s just dull.I think the root cause is largely down to the writers previously only writing for a sitcom, Peep Show. Makes for snappy dialogue, but in the long run they couldn’t avoid doing the exact same thing. Making the characters return to the same state. Slapping some pseud analyses over this doesn’t make it any more satisfying or impressive.
>>206517121>why do women enjoy soap operas where everyone is mega rich?
>>206516204Tom is literally Triple H including the seducing the daughter part
>>206522335Each season basically being a reset was annoying, but the ending was obvious from the start. It's King Lear. I don't know why people were expecting anything different.
I hated the show at first because the characters were not likable, and I was annoyed by the speaking patterns - especially Kendal.Slowly I gained an appreciation for the Logan character and the dark satire aspect of the show. The ending was a surprise, which I liked. There’s nothing worse than a predictable ending.I was rewarded by seeing Kendal utterly defeated and destroyed.
>>206515849Because this board is full of retards
>>206522335>sadly it’s let down by the ending.Did you want one of the children to "win"? It seemed pretty obvious even in seasons leading up to the end none of the kids would beat Logan.
its woke and anti trump, the awards it got was fake and trump still won lol
>>206516495/tv/ is a Con-head board
>>206516905if there's no swearing for you, it just means you're not high up enough yet
A Succession prequel spinoff where Colin is a CIA operator and Karolina is his handler.
>>206524308>and I was annoyed by the speaking patternOnce I read that its because the show was written by bongs it made sense.
>>206516905>someone who has experience working in high-end new york officesis that a euphemism for cokehead?
>>206517121Because they want to get inseminated by rich assholes.

>>206517259Yeah, I wish it had ended after the season 2 finale.>>206519559Yes, a 6.5/10 album makes it their best since Watershed.
>>206519559BRO! was just thinking if opeth will ever release a new album. Thank you!
>>206523844>>206524619Something being incredibly obviously telegraphed does not make it “good”.Something being based on some vague outline of a classic tragedy does not make it “good”The reason this show doesn’t have more discussions is simply because once you’ve seen it once and discussed it once. There’s nothing more to talk about. Congrats, you’re right. It’s like king Lear and of course the kids would never ever win “in real life”Great discussion. Now what? How about this isn’t real life, and tne show never acted like it was to begin with. So handcuffing the plot into such a dull ending for the sake of sticking to “king Lear” or “realism” isn’t interesting. You can tell me actually no, it’s super interesting. Which obviously it isn’t, otherwise it wouldn’t be so dead in terms of discussing it by its fans, even compared to shows much older
>>206521606His siblings are used to it, a manlet is short since puberty and there's nothing anyone can do about it. But Shiv wasn't always overweight.
