There haven't been slopera updates in a while
>>215621538People have kind of been assholes in the thread lately. And the schizos haven't been around either so we can't scapegoat them. I think some people have been driven off.
hello /trek/ happy halloweendid you do anything fun for the holiday? I won a regional painting contest and am planning on making some transporter pad and bridge dioramas for nacelle's star trek figures that should start shipping soon
>>215620197I used to like S Club 7 back in the day
>>215622307I wanna see your painting
every single day I wake up checking for a response from nacelle about a ro laren toyI am tired of waiting for a response and the old me would start finding devious ways to get through to them, an email on linkedin, an unlocked back door to the officein my old age I try to be more patient but this hunger is not something I can ignore and know it's only a matter of time until I act on urges I try to suppress so why waitI wish they would just tell me to relax and they're working on the best ro laren ever
>>215622307I won third in a longsword tournament (HEMA) and won the free for all
>>215622418why do you think they would reply? surely they just tally the requests for characters in some spreadsheet and that's it.

>>215622498they will reply to meI'm gonna make some rough diorama mockups for a transporter pad, bridge, and holodeck that would make their products look awesome and try to be their diorama bitch or find some way to help the war effortI know it's ridiculous but people aren't buying trek merch anymore and this is the last best shot for a cool trek toy line and I want to be part of itI will keep hailing them until they reply
>>215622559well I guess it can't hurt. I support your dioramas idea that would be rad
>>215622615Geordi comes with a giant holodeck archway so they're already including props for people to fill out shelves and displays witheven if it leads nowhere I'll still be making shelf inserts for these anywayfirst wave is supposed to ship before Christmas

>>215622418Why are you whinging? You can get a Playmates Ro for $15. On Ebay, new in box. It's funny how many listings there are. These things must've been bought by the hundreds, hoarded away in storage. By so many people. Expecting that this memorabilia would be worth something in the future. An investment. And they're selling them now, after 30 years. For pretty much the original 1994 sticker price. You don't even have understand inflation, opportunity cost or time in market. To know this was not a good investment.

>>215625550All the VOY 2-parters are 10/10.>except maybe the Sarah Silverman one, but I still like it bcuz it's basically The Voyager Home but in 90's LA.
>>215627924its a 5/10 for me because silverman is in about half of it. 0/10 for her parts. 10/10 for everything else
>>215627924Equinox is fucking awful and one of the dumbest stories they've ever done about Starfleet personnelGoes way beyond the normal "badmiral" shitBut otherwise VOY does have a really strong hit rate.
>>215626767he didn't like nutrek
>>215627924Just got through the Hirogen Nazi 2 parter. Hardly a 10/10 my man.
>>215628141i might agree if this was alpha or beta but its not, is it? we're in delta and a nova class ship is stranded.
>>215628273???Doesn't matter. The Starfleet move in that situation is to settle on a planet, or with another warp-capable race until you can get yourself back on your feet again, repair your ship, and continue back under your own power. To willfully genocide an alien species as fuel is so comically evil that I genuinely think it should be beyond a 24th century evolved human. It was a dumb story. Also, it subverts Starfleet and the Federation and Roddenberry principles in a single episode more than DS9 did in its entire run.
>>215628306it wasnt a genocide, they only needed to kill a couple dozen. and they died for their sins. its not like when admiral ross got zero consequences for his s31 shit or sisko being an accessory to assassination or any of the horrid shit ds9 pumped out week after week. the equinox crew made the wrong choices and they were appropriately punished. its great star trek
>>215628393It's not the same as all. Section 31 is not part of the Federation and even if a few rogue "badmirals" collaborate with them, that's a situation with the whole Alpha Quadrant on the line and isn't anywhere near the same situation.A Starfleet crew making "the wrong choice" would be to subvert and take over a non-warp species or something. But using a specific alien as fuel for your ship is some insane Nazi gas chamber shit and a Starfleet captain would NEVER be capable of it.
>>215628447they killed the first one by accident and then they had to defend themselves from constant attacks. what were they supposed to do, not use their enemies corpses for fuel?
>>215627977I like her in it.
>>215628521It took VOY like three hours to figure out how to communicate with them. Don't make excuses for Ransom.
>>215628687he was stuck 70k light years from home without a holodeck. I can cut him some slack. and its not like he thought he was going to get away with it. the space ghosts would chase them all the way home and he would be found out immediately. so ransom must have figured it was worth his career and soul to get his crew home.
>>215628769Well, he's not the only thing wrong with the episode.Janeway also becomes peak Insaneway in this episode when she threatens to turn the aliens loose on the black guy in the interrogation and let them torture and probably kill him but Chakotay stops her and makes her call it off. It's just a shitty episode that tries to be too edgy all around. I wouldn't be surprised if Bryan Fuller had a big hand in it.

>>215622559>Make a mockup of the D'S hallways on one side of the arch>bring it around to different places ans take pictures as if the place you took it to was a holodeck program they were in
>>215629306I like her voice. It's cute. Sometimes she plays it up. Like in a Fran Dresher way. Irritating for comedy. But, I only ever hear it in small doses. In a movie or episode. So, it's fine. Maybe if Rain Robinson left with Voyager. And she joined the show. Replaced Kes instead of Seven. I don't know how much of a real possibility that was. I've heard the rumour that they were thinking of doing that. So, maybe if that happened. She might become annoying. But, no. I like her.
does anyone have the porthos version?
>>215629442You're deranged. Her voice is awful her nudes are worse
>>215629436Wear it like a mask. But, like. A bit further away from your face. So you can just see its periphery. So then, it's like everything you see. You're seeing happen on the holodeck. And then you can treat every interaction like you're in a holonovel.
>>215629500She waited until she was like 40 to do her first nude scene. And gained weight for that role. Like Christian Bale. And it's a kitchen sink mumblecore indie flick. It's not shot in a sexy way. Please. You have to give her credit. If she got them out in that VOY 'sode. They would've looked spectacular.

>>215641282Does Mayweather's actor at least clean up at conventions from all the fans that like to meme him?
>>215619270
In Star Trek Voyager S4:E20 Tom Paris comes directly out of the holodeck and onto the bridge in his mechanic gear that he was wearing whilst working on a holographic car. Why is the holographic oil still staining his overalls? Would the stains not disappear once leaving the holodeck? And my neighbor died, I posted about it and someone reported me, why would you do that? Out of all the off topic shit that gets posted in /trek/ you want me banned because the man who lived across from me who I've known for years died and you think that's cool?
>>215641840the holodeck uses replicator tech where it can
>>215641840>>215641900I remember them also dressing up outside the deck for the Fairhaven episodes, it’s dumb
>>215641944Why? Miles and Julian went into the holosuites in full cosplay. And they were wearing real archaic earth navy uniforms in generations when they made worf walk the plank for his promotion.
>>215641840Tom carefully stains his shirt with real oil before stepping out of the holodeck, so as to preserve the illusion
>>215642062That’s a little dumb too, but the issue specifically with Voyager doing it is that they’re on and on about how they’re stranded and low on everything but they have to juice to unnecessarily replicate these costumes that presumably go back into the matter recycler when they’re done with them. Not a lot of closet space
>>215641944You think they should go to the holodeck naked? And wear a holocostume. Dumb.
>>215642209It’s never really clear what the holodeck can do to mesh a holo-costume over existing clothes. It seems like it shouldn’t be a huge deal
>>215642179They save replicator power by having Neelix cook their food instead of replicating it all. Any holodeck episodes take place when his larder is full with delicious locally sourced produce.
>>215642799There’s coffee in those costumes
>>215640045what's your problem faggot
>>215642824And in the corpses. Why does Janeway just throw valuable, recyclable bio matter into space?
>>215642978That’s another weird episode on several levels. I get that it’s maybe conventional to jettison dead crew like in the navy or something but I’d think maybe they’d cremate them in the future so there’s something for the family, and that’s not even touching on the >remember your girlfriend who was a valued member of the crew?>n..no
smolboy here
>>215640414not wasting a second of his life
>>215643129>theres dead feddie corpses in coffins just floating all over the quadrant>they've been doing this for hundreds of years>its now a hazard for ships
>>215643319honestly kinda basedthey shoot them out in unguided torpedoes too, so at any moment some alien could be cruising along and then get wiped out by some corpsepedo traveling at 8% lightspeed
>>215643398what a fucking awful description
>>215641840Sorry you got banned for such a retarded reason, anon, that fucking sucks

>>215643437you need more?

>>215643692what happens here?
>>215643814Quark's house
>>215643814Given the glowing red thing sticking out, probably the station's power/engineering areas?
>>215643729They probably have docks that are somehow customizable based on the different ships. Customizable isn't the right word but I can't think of the right word. Sort of like how you can buy outlet adapters when you go to other countries.
>>215643619You do not understand what the phrase 'whoring out' means.
>>215643729I think there should be some degree of standardization within ship types but this should be fixable with replicators. I mean you have to get permission to dock and all of that so sending over the details on what kind of docking system you have shouldn't be too complicated unless its something truly outlandish.

The station should have no Fucking chance against that sort of attack!

>>215644625They were trying to capture the station, not destroy it. And attacking from a distance would make you look like a pussy in front of all the other Klingons. A group of Klingons that large is almost guaranteed to ignore any tactics that don't involve hand to hand combat.

>>215652540Species that reproduce sexually have sexes, Q are timeless and eternal until Voy takes a giant shit on the entire premise
>>215652513Well, the species might not actually have genders, but they did appear that way when assuming human form because andros would be seen as uncomfortable freaks. So theoretically any Q might be able to mate with any other Q.
>>215652642That’s the point: projecting our petty notions onto gods. We do that a lot, and in our fiction they even accommodate us like Q did

I just rewatched Encounter at Farpoint for the first time since becoming a Trekkie. You are all insane for calling it a bad episode or series premiere. The feature did a great job at setting the stage for the rest of the show. It looks and sounds great for a 40 year old production. The script was a little messy and unfocused. New viewers were bombarded with worldbuilding and character introductions. I don't see how they could have handled it better since TNG had to both be a sequel and a new entry point. I love how it ends with Picard telling both his crew and the audience to get used to big high stakes adventures. If only the rest of the season could retain the episode's momentum.
>>215653877I am well aware loki is sleipnirs sire, you idiot I've forgotten more about mythology then you will ever know

>>215653987I unironically like Encounter at Farpoint. It suffers from the things most pilots do, bad pacing, uncertain and overcompensating characterizations and acting, overly self-impressed scenes (Saucer separation). The one big criticism I remember when it first came out is it felt like a cruise vessel/luxury liner, everything from the shopping on the planet, the holodeck, the lounge, all the amenities. 1000 crew and personnel on a ship that fits 6k.
>>215655065>Saucer separationIt insists upon itself. But whatever, it only happened in three episodes and Generations, so I don't care that much.
>>215654753You're right. It's caused me to reevaluate new Treks like DISCO. They weren't really so bad after all. Just a different vision.
Do people really hate saucer separation? It was cool in all of the times they did it... which was only four times.
>>215655309They did it six times if you include the movies.
>>215620677So what happened to the Founders? From what I remember they pretty much just get let off the hook aside from one changeling going to Starfleet jail which I'm sure is just a vacation resort.
>>215655338>Encounter at Farpoint>The Arsenal of Freedom>The Best of Both Worlds>GenerationsFour.
>>215655240lmao you are a disingenuous faggot
>>215655339correct
>>215655309Just annoying how often they bring it up in the first season as a catch all, glad they laid off on it later on & made it a huge special deal. It should be a last attempted move type thing.
Holodeck for Star Trek. Good or bad for Star Trek writing and storylines overall?
>>215655497It showcased inceldom.
>>215655497I'd say good, it practically put an end to the old TOS tradition of "here's a planet that's identical to Earth at a particular historical period", which would have been a little too silly for modern sci-fi.
>>215655387They really fucked up all aspects of the ending didn't they?

>>215655886>VOY >Voyager's ending was pretty terrible too.
TNG has the best finale simply because it ends the show in a satisfying way but leaves it open because they knew they were making movies.DS9 and VOY had to end their long-running story arcs - they were never going to live up to the audience's expectations.
>>215655844>shitter right next to the bed Heaven
>>215655919And Ent? What of that giant asspull?
>>215655915no, your ability to understand things is terrible. VOY's finale is near perfection, literally.>Voyager gets home, but it's not good enough for Janeway>She breaks every law, fucks with the Borg and bends time and space to help her crewIt's fucking kino, and a perfect sendoff for the show. Redditards like you always complain her character was "inconsistent" but you're too dumb to understand, her character is all about taking care of her crew even if rules need to get bent. If you had kids you'd understand.
