I remember when this movie came out, and even before so, 4chan and YouTube critics were calling this movie woke and everything. I skipped it for a long time. When I finally saw it on streaming I was suprised. It was a good movie and hardly woke at all. The black lady literally volunteers to give the 007 callsign back to Bond. I'm not saying that the anti-woke crowd is always wrong, but I feel like this was in their eyes just as bad as most garbage woke movies that have come out in the last decade when in reality it was a middle of the road Bond film with some fun sequences. Makes me more skeptical now and I try to form my own opinions on things. If you didn't like the movie, that's fine, but the reaction around this film's release was ridiculous when the negress wasn't that insufferable at all compared to most movies. Bond has always just been a reflection of current trends in movies. That's how the franchise stays fresh while generally following the same formulas. Hollywood hasn't been able to capture the zeitgeist lately so there hasn't been something to make a new Bond with yet. The smart thing would be to wait it out some more until something new really pops like how Borne Identity, NolanBats, and MCU did, and then make the Bond version of it. But Bond being owned by Amazon now means they won't have the patience for that so we are probably about to hit the worst era of Bond with shitty TV shows and a really bad movie or 2.
